The moon hovered over the world like a watchful eye. In the busy night grasses of the savannah below, Cigende walked alone. This was nothing special; she didn't know another way to walk. Her steps were the lean ones of a carnivore on a minimal diet, and overhead, the stars kept her company. Such was life, and she was content.
But an encounter with a lion pack had sent her fleeing into the night, and now she traveled, hoping to get as much distance between her and the larger predators as possible. If game was too scarce, after all, it might be likely that they'd look at her with a considering eye. So she walked, listening to the cricket songs, headed towards a far horizon.

Red eyes watched the moon above as he lay, unable to move on. he was so tired, he hadn't slept in days, but he couldn't seem to close his eyes - they remained open and his head ached from lack of sleep. His stomach growled in protest at the lack of nutrition. His paws were drying, blood and dirt crusting over.
A small sigh, Xx'ami-da began to clean the bleeding paws. He'd have to stay close to here for a few days. He was so dumb to have left Ylva so soon when he had food enough there to fatten himself back up - it wasn't so. His ribs were slightly visable on the side.
Paws cleaned of blood and no longer bleeding, Xx'a rolled slightly to his side and tucked his paws under him to rest his body, if not his mind.

As she mused to herself about starlight, Cigende was suddenly pulled from her thoughts as her senses pricked up. She ducked low in the grass and sniffed the air. There, the faintest scent of something sharp. Blood, maybe. But so faint that she couldn't locate its source. Worried about the lions returning, she checked herself over. Not bleeding, so it wasn't her. Coat dusty as always; she'd taken to mudrolling to dull her stark white legs, to stay less visible. The grasses were high enough that she could keep her head covered if she stayed low. Good, maybe she could evade whatever might be out there.
Circling in place, trying to pick up the scent again, her back leg brushed something sharp. Her nerves already on edge, she leapt away with a shrill hyena yelp and bolted into the grasses. But quickly she shut her jaw and forced down any further noise. Foolish! She hated how little control she had sometimes. Trying to rein in her breathing, she crept slowly back to investigate, and clicked her teeth angrily when she realized she'd been startled by a prickly shrub.
She paced nervously, sniffing the air for more clues. Whatever might be out there, it probably knew she was here now.

The dark hyena bolted up at the sharp cry that could be easily noted as the yelp of a hyena. A frown crossed his maw and he kept his head low, easily, glaring through the grass with fiery eyes. Xx`ami's nose twitched, serching for the scent of the hyena, a hopefully friendly one.
It only took a moment for Xx`ami's eyes to focus on a dusty hyena, who seemed anxious. The frown he wore deepened, and he hesitatlu stepped forward to bite back a wince. His body slumped from the weakness associated with lack of sleep, but tense to withstand the pain in his paws.
He thought he vowed not to be so stupid again?!
A growling sigh whispered from him and he started forward towards the female.

Cigende spotted the bright redness rising out of the grass and oriented on it, but it took her a long moment to place just what it was. With the rest of the creature's fur being as dark as the sky, almost camouflaged in the night, it seemed as if a fire had spontaneously sprung up. Her nose told her otherwise; now she could tell where the hint of blood was coming from.
As the stranger came near, she backed up nervously, glancing side to side to look for others. Was this a loner, or the first of a pack? He looked too tired to be leading a charge against her, but that could be a diversion. She waved her ears in search of any sound that might give away lurking danger. They wouldn't catch her unawares; she had years of experience with running away. She was a bloody cowardice champion.
But then she finally placed what he was, and perked up excitedly. A hyena! Oh, well that was alright then. She trotted forward to meet him, tail wagging like an eager puppy's.

Xx'ami-da blinked - well, he certainly didn't expect the female Hyena to suddenly become eager to meet him, she seemed almost... scared at first. "Ah," he started. "Hello..." he said uncertainly. He sat to take to pain off of his lightly colored paws that were slightly stained as red as the mane on his back.
At least she was nice, yeah? He thought for a moment, and chuckled at her enthusiasm, but the tiredness in his eyes made him close them for a moment, fighting away the threatening sleep that he knew he would not wake from for a while.
"My name is Xx'ami-da, and you are?"
