So Chepi had started her new duties, she hadn't been officially given the title of clan leader yet though as she still seemed to have a side to her which in her mothers view wasn't responsible enough. She had been good though, apart from teasing her sister like she usually did she had been very good in the clan, she had been checking on everyone, making sure there was enough food and all the things a clan leader should do. Once she had done her duties she would sneak off. After all there seemed to only be one lion she could be herself around.

"Arun?" She called out as she looked around. She hadn't seen him for a couple of days as her mother had been watching her like a hawk oh and then Doea had been following her about again. She wasn't a cub anymore, why she had to be tailed by a bird now she had no idea. She had at least got rid of her today, it seemed she hadn't lost her ability to completely confuse and then loose the birds.

She had recently got all her tattoos and so as she walked to where she hoped to find Arun she held herself high. She wanted to show off her new look, all her new tattoos. She was so proud of them. She couldn't help but feel rather cublike whenever she thought of seeing Arun. She got to mess about, forget about what she was suppose to be doing and just, well be herself.

"Arun?" She called again. Oh she did so hope he would be about somewhere.

"I'm here, Princess."

Arun stepped out from behind a rather scraggly looking bush, giving her his traditional goofy grin and overly-dramatic bow before padding towards her. He had taken to calling her Princess more often than Sweetheart -- mostly the result of him coming to realize that Chepi was to become an important figure in her clan, perhaps even sometime soon. It helped him get a grasp of things sometimes. It was a shame... had Chepi been just a regular member of a clan, Arun would have already started his attempt to woo her, probably making a complete idiot out of himself, although the brown lioness probably would have laughed. It was an ironic situation -- the only lioness that he had ever found who understood his childish ways, and she was completely inaccessible to him.

But... perhaps it was better this way. On the flip side of things, since the striped lion was not trying to win her heart, (as much -- he still teased and flirted shamelessly, but he was her stalker, it came with the territory, right?) he had gotten the chance to know her better than he probably ever would have normally. Sometimes he even got the feeling that coming to see him was like an escape for her, a place where she didn't need to be grown up. Surprisingly, this had taught him a lot about maturity -- sometimes you need to be strong, so you can give someone you care about what they need.

Coming a little closer, Arun's crooked grin broadened as he looked her up and down, noticing her additional tattoos. "Well will you look at that?" He teased her, circling her slowly, he whistled, coming to sit before her after his circle was finished, his eyes glittering, "Lookit you! You look amazing! A regular lady. Guess that means you can't come snake hunting with me, huh?" Winking, the striped lion gave her what he hoped was his most hurt look. She would know, he knew, that he was kidding, although he really did think she looked amazing. As a previous Rogue, his own tattoos were only allowed to cover 20% of his body, but he always admired how elegant they looked, and how fluid they looked when the Ela lions moved.

"Oh will you stop calling me princess!!" She gave him an annoyed stare, how many times did she have to tell him that she was not a princess! Oh she was glad she wasn't too it was hard enough being a clan leader let a lone a princess. Yes she was happy how she was as long as she got to see her Arun.

"No I can't come snake hunting... but I can beat you up!" She then playfully leapt at him, trying to hit him round the head with her paw. She loved seeing Arun, he was fun and interesting and hers. He was her personal stalker and her best friend. She adored their times together and she adored the attention he gave her. However there were times where she would happily pounce at him to try and hit him, it did annoy her sometimes how his teasing seemed to say that he wasn't good enough. With how he called her princess and things like that. She was no different then him and now she was going to prove it and give him a good beating at the same time! One of these days he had to learn she wasn't anything special! So today was the day she was going to make him realise and then his teasing can go back to how it was when she first met him before mentioning her role in the clan.

Arun grinned broadly at that annoyed stare, looking almost pleased with himself, and tried to look as endearing as possible. He knew she didn't like it when he called her that... which, of course, lead to part of it's appeal. It was no wonder that other lions sometimes didn't like him -- he was quite annoying at times. Most of the time, in fact.

The striped lion's face fell a little as she said she couldn't go snake hunting with him, unable to hide his disappointment for the first few seconds. It wasn't uncommon -- Chepi sometimes was busy, doing leadership things and learning how to to run her clan. And that was important. But it still made him a little sad at times. At the second statement, however, his red eyes shot up, and he gasped, his grin quickly returning. "Noo," he cried dramatically, rolling onto his back as she leaped on him, lifting his paws as if to try to fend off the attack, "Sweetest Chepi, beautiful Chepi, merciful Chepi!" Lowering his paws a bit, he grabbed her around the middle, growling playfully and wiggling around like a cub, tickling her and rolling in the dust.

It was times like these that really made him thank his lucky stars that he had found this Pride. Sure, it was nice to be in a pride in general -- being a rogue was no luxury deal, but it was this girl, whom he had, in such a short period of time, found a close bond with, made everything a million times better.

Chepi was laughing which she was sure she shouldn't be doing if she was beating him up. Oh well, might as well enjoy it after all she could always beat him up later right?

"Oi you! I am suppose to be beating you up!" She chuckled though was more then happy to roll about being well silly and very childish. She was not impressed with this tickle torture! It made her laugh too much and the laughing meant that she wasn't beating him up which meant he would continue to call her princess! Oh she would have to do something about that... once she got free of all this tickling.

'Ok fine you win... stop tickling me!" She tried to wriggle away still laughing. Oh how she hated being tickled, it meant she couldn't do anything but wriggle and laugh. It was like her weakness was being tickled and that was just lame. Or maybe her weakness was Arun tickling her, after all no one else would dare to tickle her she wouldn't let anyone else that close to her.

Arun laughing -- a good, loud, genuine laugh that sounded much like a fake evil villain laugh. This was the kind of thing he enjoyed, what he looked forward to throughout the entire day. When he wasn't hunting for the clan, when he wasn't being scolded or punished, he was looking forward to times like this, when he could just be himself and not worry about the frowns that followed him. That oldtimer from the Tree Ceremony was right -- not everyone understood his antics, but some did, and it was good. Chepi was that 'some' and she made all the difference.

Cackling a little more, Arun tickled her for a bit longer, having too much fun hearing her laugh to let up so quickly. "I am capturing the beautiful lady and will not take her to my thorny castle where she will stay and catch snakes with me forever!" he teased in that 'evil' voice, rolling around a bit more before letting her go, grinning like an idiot, "And we'll live happily ever after, the end."

Sitting up, the striped lion shook the dust from his coat, cocking his head towards the lioness.

"Alright, 'sweetest Chepi', how can your ever-faithful stalker/royal guard be of service?"

"We can live happily ever after together without being stuck in a thorny castle and catching snakes all the time!" She chuckled a little and smiled at him. "You could just move in to my clan you know...." She smiled at him half hoping that he would like the idea and agree. At least if they were in the same clan she could see him more.

She was incredibly grateful that he had stopped tickling her though, however much she loved spending time with him being tickled wasn't all that great. Though his words sparked an idea in her head.

"My ever faithful stalker... who isn't a royal guard as I am not royalty... can come and stay with me, in my clan." Okay so she hadn't a clue how one moved clans without being mates but they were good friends and he was her stalker. Oh and she was going to be clan leader so surely she got to make this choice? Okay so she wasn't sure and would ask her father later, she wondered if it was even possible to move clan without mating. She would need to check that out later, for now she was just eager to watch Arun's reaction to it.

Arun went still for a moment, startled by what Chepi had to say. "In to... your clan," he repeated a bit dimwittedly, his mouth a gape. He hadn't even known that was possible. Even if it wasn't, the idea that she wanted him to be in her clan made him feel like he was walking on air. She wanted him to move into her clan!

Grinning broadly, the striped lion jumped up, laughing with abandon and nearly jumped on the lioness, although he somehow managed to refrain. "I would love to!" he replied without hesitation, grinning ear to ear. Even the thought of leaving Mantis didn't bother him -- while they had been kind enough to take him in, no one in Mantis had really shown much of an interest in him, as was most of the Ela pride. They would not miss him, and while he would show gratitude towards them always, he wouldn't miss them either. Especially not when he could be getting something so much greater in return.

Butting heads with her gently, Arun forced himself to be calm, still looking pleased but also trying to be somewhat adult -- if he was to be moving to her clan, he would never want to disgrace her. Only she really understood the him underneath.

"Just tell me what I'm suppose to do, and I will do it without hesitation."

Chepi was somewhat shocked by his reaction, she wasn't expecting it in the slightest and so smiled widely.

"I will need to talk to father, I don't know if its possible to move clans.. I know males move in to the females clan when they mate but well... you wouldn't want to mate with me so I will need to talk to father about it." She smiled as she spoke. The idea of Arun being her mate wasn't exactly a bad idea but he probably wouldn't want her and anyway they were at least the very best of friends?

She looked at him, her eyes not leaving his face wondering what he was thinking. She also made a note to seek out her mother or father, most likely her father because he seemed to know everything.

"I will find father as soon as I return home!" She smiled at Arun, how could she not? Everything he did made her smile or laugh.
PostPosted: Wed Sep 23, 2009 3:41 pm

"I-I wouldn't?" Arun replied, startled again. Well that certainly wasn't true in the least, "That's not true at all. Who wouldn't want to be your mate? Your funny and gorgeous and sweet and smart... you're perfect -- any mate of yours should be the happiest lion in the world. The envy of all!" In his fervency to deny her claim, Arun found himself much closer to her than he had been a few moments ago, his red eyes focused intently on her sea-green ones for a moment before breaking them away. Glancing at the ground, the striped lion traced random patterns in the dirt with one paw, mumbling a little. "I'd envy them..."

It wasn't like him to mumble or slouch like that. Most everything he did, Arun did with confidence, probably too much for his own good. But there was something about Chepi that changed him for the better. She made him want to be better, and not just the good for nothing, never serious prankster everyone thought him to be. Every other times he had flirted with ladies, it had been with corny pick-up lines and obnoxious proposes for a stolen kiss or something. With Chepi... it was just different. He didn't court her because he wanted the best for her, which... wasn't him. But this talk him not wanting to be her mate? He couldn't let her think that! He would give anything in the world to be her mate...

Of course, he was sure that he'd be too embarrassed to actually tell her. Arun, embarrassed? The world must be coming to an end.

Lifting his eyes again, Arun grinned a little back. "Just don't let your father meet me before he makes his decision -- I'm sure I'll be turned away immediately!" he teased.

Chepi listened and smiled. She couldn't help but smile with what he said and even what he mumbled.

"Who says you would have to envy them? Maybe they would envy you." She couldn't dare hope, not in the slightest but she adored Arun and she always would. He was the first lion in this place that she could come and have fun with, mess about with and just enjoy spending time with. She would give up everything to spend time with him, though she also knew that if she even attempted to give up everything for him she would be in a whole heap of trouble.

"Father will love you! He loves mother and apparently she was a bit like me when she was younger, though I hope I don't end up boring." She thought about that for a second and then then smiled, "You will be around to make sure I'm not boring won't you?" She looked hopeful and stepped towards him so they were even closer. She looked up at him and then moved closer allowing herself to rub against his chest. It was a bold move for her, though of course physical contact wasn't strange between them she hadn't ever shown him affection like this before and she was slightly worried how he would take it but he had mentioned he would envy any mate she took. She wondered then if it was even possible to envy ones self.

"Pft, envy me? Why would they..."

Arun trailed off and stared off into the distance for a few minutes as what she said started to click into place. He would always envy the one she married. The only time he would not envy, and other lions would envy... was... if...

"Chepi..." Again, Arun trailed off, not knowing what to say -- if his chest had felt full of butterflies before, it was about to explode now, "You could never be boring. Never." His voice caught in his throat a little as he spoke, those nervous butterflies fluttering that much faster as she nuzzled up against him. Chepi. The lioness whom he adored more than anyone in the whole world, the one he wanted to be with more than anyone, the most beautiful, smart, funny girl ever... wanted him.

Leaning down, Arun nuzzled her back, much different than the silly playful nudges he had given her in the past. But it felt... right. She was warm and soft, and her fur smelled like the wind. She was perfect. Swallowing, he nosed her ear, murmuring soft enough so no one else could hear him but her.

"I love you."

Chepi wasn't sure what to feel and it seemed as if she could see the cogs moving in his brain as he worked out what she said. She looked at him curiously wondering, hoping, really hoping and then it clicked and she saw it in his eyes.

She heard his voice catch and smile, that was good yes?

As he moved to nuzzle her back she couldn't help but smile though her heart felt as if it were moving faster then was physically possible. Oh how she adored him. She took in everything she could about him, his scent oh it was intoxicating. Then the words came, she heard them and moved away from him.

He loved her?

Really?

"Oh Arun!" She smiled so widely and moved back to him, nuzzling him and licking his muzzle. Oh he loved her and she loved him, she adored him.

"Oh I love you, I love you, I love you!"

"I can't believe it... I'm not dreaming, am I?" He leaned back a bit to look at her a little, squinting one eye comically before squeezing his eyes shut, counting to ten before opening them again. But she still sat there -- she hadn't disappeared, hadn't been replaced by some monster like she sometimes did in his nightmares. There she was, still in front of him, smiling at him, looking so happy that it almost hurt him not to grin back like the fool he was. Oh, but he was her fool. He had always been her fool, and now... did he dare to hope? He might be her fool forever. As far as he knew, there was no in between for mates. There were no flings, as he'd often seen in the Roguelands, which was more than fine by him. He had always put up the front of being a flirt and a ladies man, but deep down, after he had met Chepi, he just... couldn't look at any other lioness the same.

The lick to his muzzle brought him back from his reverie; a good, tangible proof that he wasn't imagining anything. "I'm not dreaming..." he muttered in disbelief, immediately sitting down on his haunches, laughing a bit in amazement. Jumping up as suddenly as he had sat down, he couldn't help but nuzzle her again, feeling like he could run laps around the whole pride.

"So... I guess this means I really can move to your clan, huh?" He said after a few moments, giving her a slightly goofy grin.

Chepi didn't say much not for a while she just enjoyed it. She had heard about falling in love but she didn't realise it, not really until Arun said it. Of course she loved him, the odd feelings in her stomach and the way her heart seemed to beat faster when she saw him, oh and she was always sneaking off to see him.

"Yes, yes you can come home with me and meet mother and then father but mother first." Chepi smiled happily at herself and just lent on Arun. Her Arun. She was his, always to be his.

"My stalker..." She spoke softly, almost purring the words. He would keep his nickname from the first moment she met him. The name would stick thats for sure, her pet name for him. Oh how she loved him, she really really did.
