It was not a usual day for Nedxena. This rented room in the city of Guallidurth was not at all close to her private quarters at home in Llurth Dreir. It was one of the higher priced rooms she could find but the comforts could never be the same. The servants had delivered dinner already, which the female hardly touched. Nedxena loved to travel under normal circumstances. This trip, however, had her all caught up and anxious. She could not enjoy a thing.
Nedxena huffed and picked at the meal some more as she thought over the news her bounty hunter had brought her. She had a location for this spell thief now, as much as she loathed the thought of dealing with one. The bounty hunter had some opinion that the thief seemed to be the wary type and maybe still on the move, appropriate if he was the one involved in the large thefts she had heard about. But it would probably make approaching him difficult. Nedxena decided to go talk to him alone, hopefully he hadn't seen the bounty hunter observing him and wouldn't be expecting trouble.
This job was just too important to her. There was, as usual, another object she had her dark and often greedy heart set on. The merchant Uxerk operated a shop that sold magical objects and all kinds of related paraphernalia. Nearly any of the general ingredients you would need for most spellwork. It was a run of the mill magic store that connected to his other shop where he sold a few cloaks, some incense, and assorted small merchandise. This male had met his match for none of the Oussek'tar daughters took being told 'No' lightly. And Uxerk had told her 'No' one too many times!
He called his favorite object the 'Malauzt', meaning it uncovered mysteries. What this short wand could do was locate magical devices by either glowing or warming in your hand to alert you, dependent on the magic involved. It could also align itself in the direction of the object as if responding to an extremely strong magnetic pull. Nedxena was highly impressed. Uxerk had told her that the object was never for sale as he used it to help his business, nonetheless he kept it on display out of pride. She had not relented her queries but he would not change his answer.
Nedxena tied back her long black and white hair, pulled on a pair of silken black gloves and covered herself in a deep purple cloak. She snatched her bag and headed out to approach the thief. All Nedxena could think about was the sweet revenge which would be hers to taste. With this spell thief in her employment, she could finally have her way with Uxerk's petty shop. The bounty hunter had described several locations in the city that this spell thief had been known to haunt. He had verified seeing the male at all of them. Nedxena planned to make the trip to check out each of them if need be.

Kyil adjusted the strap of his shoulder bag with one hand as he allowed his pink eyes to scan the crowd before him. There was little purpose in today's walk. He had left Mikaril with the explanation that he was going to go and practice. He had promised not to do anything risky of course, but he wanted to...scout he supposed. Kyil had done a excellent job in the past with his scouting, and he wanted to see if it had not just been paranoia or a fluke that he had succeeded in such a way. The best way, and most obvious, was to see if he could form another plan, make just as keen observations, and present the needed information a second time for Mikaril's approval. Though there were times when Kyil found himself doubting his capabilities, he had never once rethought his choice. He was a thief, or would be when Mikaril was finished training him. Even then Kyil was certain the feeling that Mikaril was a far better thief would always persist.
Kyil did not envy him for that.
In truth, it made him smile slightly to think of his master so fondly. Kyil could not see any sort of future before him save one. To be at Mikaril's side. Soon Mikaril would be ready to begin gathering others into his gang. After that Kyil was not certain what the next step was. They would all be thieves, they would all work together to stay safe and obtain wealth. There was more to it then that though right? For not the first time, Kyil had to stop and ask himself if this was fulfillment. Mikaril gained a thrill in his thefts, not just the stealing either. It had not escaped his notice that his master may live more for the danger then the actual theft itself. And Kyil? Well, he could certainly live without the danger that was for sure! The fear of being caught, the terror of being discovered and chased... These things had quite the opposite effect on himself. He found more pleasure in slipping in and out of a job without tipping anyone off or alerting them. Silent and stealthy, with none the wiser until he was far beyond the point of safety. Kyil found more joy in lifting the magical tomes or manuscripts and laying them out before him to study their secrets. As of late he had not uncovered anything he could actually use. That was rather sad, the books he was studying were rapidly becoming monotonus. He knew the lesser spells now. He even knew some of the moderatly powerful ones. He had siphoned off so much of his magical items that all he had were a few base enchantments of hardiness and the magical holding spell on his messenger bag. Kyil spread his fingers over the plain brown satchel at his side. He needed to find a much prettier bag soon. Something that would match his preffered style of dress better and cross the magical enchantment over to it.
For the moment, Kyil lingered within the bakery he visited at least three times a week, and he eyed the sweet glazed treats on the shelf behind the counter. He had decided a while ago that if he were to become a patron of a place, he would not steal from them. It would be too great a risk really, to be caught by those he visited so often. So as much as he would have liked to practice stealing a few of the baked goods, Kyil easily resisted the temptation. Instead he stroked one ring decorated hand against the flowing pink material of his skirt to brush it back before moving that hand on tot he small side pouch where he kept a few coins. Mikaril would surely like something sweet to eat. He doubted his master would ever turn away something sugary. He had not yet after all.
When the baker came round the counter, Kyil merely had to flick his finger at the sweet rolls across from him "Four of those please Sir." He murmured in the same manner he often spoke to the man. Simple, to the point, and poliet. Kyil's lips turned upwards faintly as he watched the man roll up four of the rolls in waxed paper and tied it nearly with some twine. A few of Kyils coins slipped from his hand to the others and the transaction was complete. Kyil tucked the small package into his bag, secure in the knowledge that with it's enchantment that nothing could be stolen from it, and he crossed to the door of the bakery. Perhaps, once their hideaway was in proper order, Kyil would be able to entice Mikaril into letting him find a way to put in a kitchen. There was no reason the cave couldn't be worked on to include some of the things that Kyil missed. Like..a grand bath chambers or a sewing room and a kitchen... With his thoughts muddled with such fond day dreams, Kyil took no note to the drow that watched him keenly.

Finally she had sighted him! Nedxena cried to the Goddess in relief. There was no mistaking this one. The male really had a unique appearance and fitted the description exactly. Those feathers, tattoos, piercings, and even a pink skirt. It seemed almost amusing that after all the battle to track him down, she should find her thief strolling calmly out of a bakery. Oh well, anyone can have a sweet tooth! And thankfully this thief did and the bakery was one of his regular stops.
Nedxena shadowed the tattooed male. Should she do something now or try to be more patient? The female gritted her teeth. What's an adventure without a little risk? Nedxena thought of a few options, but settled on the most direct route. The mage had been told she was more of a reckless fighter than a mage on more than one occasion. It was impossibly boring and bordering on insane the way some mages worked so isolated and slow. Nedxena for one loved the rush of blood in her veins and the excitement of the unknown. The magic shop and the Malauzt.. she could hardly wait!
She intercepted the male in a few fast strides, a gloved hand brushing lightly against his bare back and arm as she leaned in. Her face glittered falsely with a dangerous lewd smile, as if well familiar with her new companion. To another drow watching, the female was probably trying to procure some other sort of services for the evening. But Nedxena kept her voice cold and business-like, "Now do all spell thieves have a sweet tooth or are you just out of things to do?" Nedxena bounced her bag of coins in her other hand.

He would be so delighted. Kyil could almost already see the happy smile on Mikaril's face as he took the bag. He would ask him what he had gotten them that day and thank him. Already he could hear the others light and pleasent voice ringing in his ears. As Kyil walked down the street a pleasent smile pulled the pink eyed males lips upwards. As of late he had only been having good days. His training was coming along well he was sure. In no time he would---
A chill raced up his spine as soft fingers brushed across the tattooed portion of his back and arm. Kyil litterally shivered, his posture stiffened mid step, hairs raised upon the back of his neck, and it was with a wide eyed pink gaze that he turned to look into the face of the unfamiliar female. The lewd expression on the females face stunned Kyil out of his frozen alarm and into a startled anxiety. Not even the bag of coins that she hefted proved to be a distraction. Unlike Mikaril, Kyil's interest in theivery did not stem from greed or a desire for wealth. Rather it was the desire for Mikaril's approval and recognition that Kyil had embraced being a thief. Besides, the heavy sack of coins coupled with the expression Nedxena had lowered upon him led Kyil to feel that the intent was to purchase him for something he had not performed since running away from his previous owner. Her manner of speaking to him, coupled with the words she chose to speak set off other alarms withinhim as well. Spell Thief? She knew! How did she know? Who was she?
Oh...Oh no... The most obvious answer was that she was somehow affiliated with Haellara. Was that small bag of gold some paltry bounty paid to catch up with him? Had the spell worn off? of course it had, and in her shame she surely would have hired someone to kill him and bring back Mikaril. Kyil moved in a jerky motion away from the leering female, and turned to flee. He was not thinking on much more other then that he needed to run! Quickly! He and Mikaril needed to leave the city immediatly!!

Oh Goddess. Another weak and stupid male! If he had no purpose to serve her, she wouldn't hesitate to have him delivered over to her slavers. Nedxena rolled her gray eyes as the male seemed to panic at her confrontation. It was not a smart move and she was feeling frustrated enough today.
The spellthief's behavior, what read to her as cowardice, had sent a jolt through her brain and a wicked smile passed her lips.
The mage leapt forward as soon as the male blanched and turned away. Nedxena had far from the normal temperament of a mage. She was physical and direct, very much liking to get her hands dirty. The Oussekt'ar never enjoyed waiting and she had waited long enough to find this thief in the first place! He was not going to run. Nedxena promptly reached out to wrap her arm up around a fistful of the thief's long white hair. Her other hand had fluttered under her cloak, for either weapon or wand, although she planned to draw neither.
The female hissed with anger, her muscles tense, "Oh no, I need you to steal something for me and I need you alive.. So don't turn your back on me again. Just listen."

"Ah!" Kyil cried out as he felt the tug upon his hair. His back bent backwards slightly, to ease the pull and avoid stretching the well tended length of white locks. His pink eyes widened, more from the sudden sense of pain in his scalp then the cold fear he felt gripping him. As Nedxena would lean in to hiss angerly Kyil twisted his head and body slightly. Rather then turning away, he turned in towards Nedxena's body. He could see her hand reaching for something, and something cold and sharp spiked through his gut. A weapon? He was too wrapped up in his fear to try and sense if the object might be magical and thus easily turned into something more harmless.
Honestly, all he could think was that this female was going to hurt him. Kill him. Or worse, drag him back to face the well deserved wrath of the slighted Haellara thus forceing Mikaril to follow him into some terrible trap. Kyil's body brushed a little against Nedxena, and his free hand lifted up towards the shoulder that the hand clutching his hair was. He hesitated though, as she spoke of stealing something. What? His easily readable expression betrayed uncertainty as he hesitated to grab her in return to attempt to force her to release him. "What...steal? You are not some bounty hunter then?"

As Nedxena could see the thief moving a hand and twisting against her grip, she let go of her hold on his long hair and gave him a short shove away from her. Nedxena did not use much force but it would be more comfortable for both of them this way. As frustrated as she was, Nedxena had to remember that this was the male she was trying to hire after all. She stepped up beside him again, standing this time at arm's length to talk to him.
Nedxena had not intended to get off to such a confrontational start. Goddess! She could not even imagine the male shirking her offer. The female felt fairly confident from the sound in the thief's voice that he was at least a little curious. Was it curiosity or just confusion? Either way, he was talking and not running.
"I am not. I don't care who you are or what else you do, I just care about what you can steal for me. Does that sound good enough for us to make a deal?"
Bounty hunter? This thief was probably on the edge for any number of reasons and she did not want to drive him away too fast. She needed someone for this job and it was going to have to be him unless more time got wasted hunting down another spell thief.

It was a great relief to Kyil when the female released him. He did not wish to lash out at the female, but from what Kyil had thus seen in his short period free, he had learned that if one did not take well to protect themselves they could end up in a great deal of trouble. Kyil had no desire to land in trouble yet again. Mikaril would never feel safe allowing him out on his own if that were the case. The unknown female spaced herself at what would have seemed like a fair distance. Though Kyil was able to note she still kept him in close enough of range that if she desired to, she could reach out and grab him again should he attemot to flee. Obviously running would not be an option quiite yet.
The females interest in him seemed...suspect? Kyil tilted his head at the woman as she informed him that her interest laid in what he could steal for her. Surely he had not been so transparent in his study of the streets lately? Perhaps he had not, perhaps she was only fishing for information. Kyil bore no weapons, so he was no warrior. He seemed to carry no arcane implements so that equally made it unlikely he was a wizard. What was left for a male besides personal servant or thief? Kyil could think of nothing else himself, so perhaps she had just narrowed him down to being the thief that way.
"I am afraid it is not Miss." Kyil answered with blunt truthfulness. "To agree to make a deal wih such vauge knowledge is very foolhardy. My master would be very dissappointed in me if I were to blindly agree to even so much as a deliberation without more information. If you could perhaps tell me more then I could consider what it is you wish to involve me in?"

The female laughed, not an entirely friendly sound, "Alright, there we are, I guess I was right about you being a spell thief?" He hadn't denied anything so far and certainly talked like a thief curious about a new mark which the mage took as a good sign that he could be hired, "I admit I wasn't sure who you were. You weren't easy to track down at all; I've just been overly determined."
She paused and thought about his use of the word 'master.' It implied a male, which would be a good thing for her. Another female could challenge her but she needn't concern herself too much with the objections of a male.
"You can pretend you have more options here all you want. I just want to know if you can take a job without your 'Master'? I'd rather that fewer ears knew my business." Nedxena was hesitant at having to involve yet another drow in her plans. She had really been hoping that this one thief would be the only partner she needed to steal from Uxerk.

Kyil tilted his head when the female laugh. Something he had said had been amuseing? Well, he supposed in part that could be true. When he thought back, his words could have sounded clever, and that could have been what made her laugh like that. Kyil tilted his head and swept his fingers back through his hair, to tuck a few strands behind his ear, when she would take his answer as confimrmation that he was in fact a spell thief. She had not known for certain? Kyils cheeks reddened slightly as he realized that the female had been testing him in a way. In his ignorance he had answered a question for her that perhaps would have been left unanswered until he knew what she wanted of him exactly.
"I...am sorry I was so difficult?" Kyil uncertainly responded to the female. Though he was certain that being hard to find was what he was supposed to be doing. "The answer to such a question would be a yes. I most certainly can take a job without referring to my master." Kyil tilted his head to peer down the streeth with a thoughtful gaze. "However, whether I shall do so, the answer to that is a no. I would not go off and do something without at least informing him of some details. My master is protective of me and I would not give him cause for worry or alarm. I would only need let him know where I was going and for how long I would be gone. I am sure he would allow me to practice on my own. It is the best way to become more skillful I am sure. It would not be required of me to give him more details then that I am positive."

Nedxena pursed her lips and snorted, "I suppose he would be protective of such a useful asset in an apprentice. All right, you could easily go to tell him your location." She could accept that, it was not much of a trouble in her mind and it could head off complications before they even began. His master should not care anways, Nedxena reasoned, as long as he knew it was a paying job which he might see a share of.
Up the side of a massive stone wall, covered with patches of purple mushrooms, a long path had been cut many centuries ago. It wound up and up to another level of residences. It was a quiet foot path that was too narrow to really be useful but a few ledges along it were good enough to sit on.
It was a somewhat dangerous and slippery path, so the mage was sure they would not have any company. Nedxena gestured up, "Go. Have a seat and I'll explain some details."

Useful...Kyil wondered slightly if he really was all that useful unless the occassion for magic arose. SOmetimes he wondered if his hesitation would not prove to be a frustration for Mikaril. But, in the end, he supposed all that mattered was that they were together and had enjoyed their time with each other.
Kyil glanced up the path that Nedxena directed him up, and after just a few moments of study he began up the way carefully. He admired the patchs of purple mushrooms as he passed them. It was only after he had begun on the path that it occured to Kyil that perhaps he ought to have made the female go up first. FOr one, he did not know how far up she wanted him to walk. And for another, it would place her between himself and the way down. Meaning that if the conversation went poorly he would not be able to retreat back to familar territory. Plus she could easily knock him off if she wished to. Kyil glanced over his shoulder at Nedxena as he walked.
"How far up should I ascend?"

The mage spared the thief a grim smile as he tentatively asked her where to go. She was feeling confident in controlling their situation as she was securely between the male and their safe passage down. He certainly would have the time to talk to her now. Nedxena stopped just before they reached a sharp incline in their path. "This is far enough. Let us discuss the job now. I will lay things out straight for you, and I expect the same."
Nedxena stood stiff, elbow out against the rough rock to her right and the plummeting depths back down to the city floor to her left.
She put the job as simply as she could think to, "I need the power of a particular object, Malauzt, transferred into a device of my own and I want the other objects in the location to have all of their magic destroyed. The owner will be ruined."
As confident as she liked to appear, Nedxena stared straight at the thief and could do nothing but wait. If he couldn't do all of this for her, what would she do? She'd be back at the start and hunting for a spell thief. Either he or this Master of his, someone had to be capable of what she asked. Ability, really, was only one part of the equation. The mage found herself equally concerned with how well they could pull this heist off quietly without so much as a murmur of warning to her enemy before he came in to discover his shop full of useless objects. That would be worth whatever price the thief could ask.

Kyil tried not to look down. But it was impossible not to have his pink eyes drawn over the edge to peer down into the depths. Subconsciously he reached up and began to fiddle with a large greenstone pendant hanging around his neck. With his other hand he touched the stone wall to his side. His fingers ran along the edge until he found a slight crack that he could grip into. If nothing else it gave him a better sense of stability. Though his eyes were elsewhere, his ears were certainly focused upon Nedxena.
What she was asking seemed...simple enough. Kyil could only think back to the magic shop he and Mikaril had stolen from. All that magic...it had filtered into him and made him feel so powerful. The elation had waned over time of course, as he learned he could not hold the magic indefinitely. That had been a sad realization, but a accepted cost to the power he could wield.
"This is...all you request then?" Kyil lifted his gaze to look upon the females confident form. "You want me to transfer the objects power into another form and to take the magic from all else? How large is this shop? How much magic will I be looking into stealing?" Mikaril would be so pleased... If he could upgrade the magic on their belongings he was positive his friend would see this job as a great success.
"I can steal the magic, transferring it may be another matter though. I would need spell components and other resources. All of it depends on the magic itself. Whatever was needed initially to create the magic item will be needed again. Do you know what these things are? If not you may have to supply them after I take the magic."

Nedxena listened carefully as he repeated her request, "Yes, that is what I need. The shop.. I would say there are about thirty items on display. Everything else is nothing but accessories and trinkets. I can't say what is in storage, I'm not concerned with that." The mage pursed her lips and stared out into the city, her eyes seeking out the shop roof before she looked back to the spell thief, "I only want the illusion of the sales room being intact. Everything else can be yours if I don't need it."
Nexena did not even turn her eyes from the male, she reached for the sack she had brought for him and pulled the drawstring open to show him a glimpse of the contents. Inside were various full pouches and vials, two scrolls, and a coin purse. "Here. This is my notes and all of the components I've gathered. It might not be everything, but it should save us a good deal of time. Try to get the rest of what you need before we meet again, if not I'll just have to be patient. There are enough coins in here to last your next three jobs." She jerked the drawstring shut abruptly. "Now, are there any problems?"
There wasn't much more to do at this point. If the thief had no objections- and Nedxena could not fathom what objection he could have- they would lay out their next meeting. And it was a matter of waiting. Waiting and having to put this work into someone else's hands. That was a hard prospect, but Nedxena knew she couldn't do this alone.
