From the red stained mountain sanctuary back to the valley's forests. The path that the pale coated mare followed was old and dull. The only thing that glimmered or shone in the light of the late day sun was her hair. A stern look was set on her lips as she moved about the edge of the woods. In her dark eyes a curious look sat; it was concern for a creature other than herself or perhaps it was simple a look of fury. With the mare it was often hard to tell.
It had been ages since she had seen anything that she cared for other than her daughter who had come home briefly seeking approval of her chosen mate. Only one question was currently running through her mind: where the hell were the others? Were they all simply too busy to come and see her? Did she mean so little to them that she wasn't even worth a little trip? It was something that she wouldn't stand for. Not a chance in hell. Besides, she had come all this way already, they'd have to pay attention to her now.
A strong wind picked up and she ceased her movement. For a moment she stood still just letting the wind lift and toss her mane and tail about like long silken ribbons. Her dark lidded eyes closed and she took in a deep, calming breath. She just wanted to see them all again, that was all. She missed her precious treasures.

{{Krad will be joining us eventually....If I can drag his crazy a** outta solitude. -_-; He's becoming a hermit I swear.}}
The only question currently running through the raven haired stallion's head was where the hell was Father? He'd been gone for over a week now. And while it wasn't unusual for his Father to disappear for days at a time, it had never been for so long without some word or glimpse. Even that dratted cousin (step-cousin?) of his was becoming concerned, and the flighty violet haired thief didn't seem to care or notice much of anything lately. With a heavy sigh, Zareen continued picking his way along a path just inside the trees, eyes watchful for any sign of his Father. He'd walked this path so many times in the past few days that he'd lost count. And the more he walked, searching, the heavier his unease became, coiling inside of him like some dark serpent. The wind kicked up suddenly, tossing his already wild hair about and tugging insistently at the cloak draped over his shoulders. Dark eyes caught a glimpse of a pale shape through the trees and his ears perked up. The stallion quickened his steps until he was very nearly running through the trees, hoping, praying it was Father. Breaking through the thick underbrush, he skidded to a halt in front of.... "Mother? What are you doing here?" He asked, his words slightly breathless. Disappointment rushed through him, flickering briefly in his eyes and in the backwards cant of his ears before he shook himself and snorted, shoving the feeling away and concentrating on his Mother. Of whom he was always grateful to see, more so than ever at the moment. Perhaps she had seen Father.
{{Pay no attention to the changing colors of his text. I'm trying to find one I like and I'm being nitpicky. XD}}

((xD I dunno but the image of Hermit-Krad just amuses me...and now I just keep thinking 'hermit-crab'...>> And actually the changing colors looks pretty cool!))
The sound of approaching hoof steps broke through what little calm she had pulled together. Her body went tense as the sound grew louder and louder. She turned her head slowly to see what was heading her way. She only saw a blur of a shape as something burst through the foliage.
Her dark eyes closed tightly and she took a few steps backwards preparing to run when a familiar voice stopped her in her tracks. "Zareen?" Dark eyes opened finally to look blinkingly at her only son. She frowned at the out of breath tone realizing only then that it had been he who had startled her. "Don't do that!" She snapped suddenly before moving to his side to nudge his neck gently.
"I was just out looking for a couple individuals who had dropped off the face of the planet..." She answered finally pulling her head back to give him a rather cold look. As much as she loved her son and as happy as she was to see him it didn't change the fact that he hadn't come to visit.

{{Hermit crab! *cackles* Now I can't stop thinking of that. XD *send you special themed photoedit. X33 I might just keep the changing colors...though only for rping. It's too complicated to do this for in-thread ooc stuff. XD}}
His eyes widened before he flattened his ears and lowered his head as she snapped at him, looking apologetic. His head came back up as she nudged him and he smiled slightly, nuzzling her back. Giving a heavy sigh as she pulled back and glared at him, he tilted one ear back slightly. He wasn't a foal to be cowed by such a look, even from his mother. "I'm sorry Mother. For both startling you and for not coming to see you more often. I've had some....difficulties to deal with as of late." Zareen chose his words carefully, uncertain just how upset she would become at finding out that Krad had been disappearing more and more often. And was currently missing completely. She was so...odd about things like that. And she would find out, there was no doubting that. If not just from simply asking. Zareen could not lie to his mother...At least about something like that. The cloaked stallion frowned to himself and his head turned to look back at the forest, his frown deepening further as he thought of Krad. He was going to chew his father out something fierce for putting him through such trouble. And for now having to tell Thorn and deal with the aftermath. Assuming Thorn didn't get to Krad first after he was found. "Have you seen Father about lately?" He asked suddenly, staring a moment longer through the trees before his head swiveled back to look at his mother, eyes distant before refocusing on Thorn with a hopeful look.

((Well there's really no point in going through the hassle for in-thread OOC nonsense anyway. xD)) At his apology her anger towards Zareen subsided. So long as he knew that she was unhappy now it was all good and well, at least in her eyes. A smile replaced the icy look in the hopes that the meeting would become a more pleasant reunion. At the look on her son's face it was quite clear to her that there would be no such luck.
"I have not..." Thorn said slowly giving her boy a suspicious look. "If I had it is likely that I would not have ventured so far from home..." It was a cold truth but it was a truth nontheless. The dark maned mare was almost famous for making such heartless comments. While she loved her son dearly he was not the main reason for her trip. "Why? Where is your father?"

"True...." He replied with a faint smile playing at his lips before he snorted. "You wouldn't have come just for me?" Zareen asked with a hint of amusement flickering in his eyes, not being terribly bothered by this fact. He knew how his mother was, and took her infrequent visits like the blessing they were. He flicked his tail slowly, one front hoof pawing the grass lightly before he went still, head swiveling back towards his mother at her question. The cloaked stallion had a split second temptation to lie to his mother before he mentally shook off the impulse. In the short run, lying to Thorn might save him a bit of trouble and emotions. But she would find out in the long run...hopefully after Zareen was well away. But it mattered naught. He'd tell the truth...kinda. "I am...not exactly sure where he is at the moment." Truth. Utter truth, if not a complete explanation.
{{That first paragraph didn't quite come out the way I wanted it to, but hopefully I got Zareen's playful/dramatic attitude/mood across. I'm too tired to keep trying to rewrite it. x.x ...Did that even make sense?}}

((It made sense. xD Sorry, still struggling to get Thorn's muse to cooperate her...>> )) She smirked a little at her son's reaction. It was unique to him. The first time she had told her daughter one of these truths she had hidden herself away from the world for a week. His reaction was more pleasing to her. It was less stressful. "Perhaps I would have, perhaps I wouldn't have. I don't imagine we will ever know for certain." The little half smile was turning into something else entirely as he revealed the whereabouts of the golden maned stallion that she had fallen for. Or rather, the lack of knowledge about the whereabouts.
"So, I am to understand that he is missing not only from my life but from your's as well?" Her voice was eerily calm but the twitching corners of her mouth and eyes betrayed the illusion.
