(( Gonna limit this to the first individual that wants to join us; feel free to jump in, though, please! ))

It just wasn't natural for people to be so uptight. Uuni had been searching the beach for a quarter of a candlemark and still no luck. People thought it was much too cold to go leaping into the lake, much less with clothes on. It was a wonder they were outside at all if they were going to wear their nice clothes. They were just spoiled by the Ista heat spells, but they were missing out on some fun.

The spring was still in her step, however, and she wasn't going to give up hope this early in the game!

Then she was struck with a brilliant idea.

Kess.

If anyone was dumb enough, and fun enough, to leap into a lake with her clothes still on, Kesslan was that girl. Uuni had half a mind to think that Condoroth would playfully jump into the bunch now, too.

Feeling extremely sharp-witted, Uuni hiked up her skirt and jogged her way back up to the inner Weyr.

By the time she even got to the region in which Kesslan's weyr was located, she was out of breath, her feet were sore, and she was wondering why she ran all the way up there.

Slowing to a walk, she tried to remember where exactly Kess's weyr was exactly. They all looked the same to her. After some intrusive peering and a few words of apology, she finally found the room she wanted.

"Kesslan!" Her voice was high and dramatic, and talking was a little harder than usual because of the trip up to the weyr. "Condorth! My two favourite . . . creatures." Smooth.

Okay, why was she here again? It was something very important.

Oh, right. "Do you two want to come jump in the lake with me?"

Startled by the familiar voice [and the sight of Uuni out of breath, clearly from excercise of the running variety!], Kess sat up quickly. She'd been idly throwing a ball hard at the wall opposite of her bedledge, laughing every time Condoroth stretched out her neck to snap the leather object from the air.

Mine, you cannot get the ball past me, I am too fast for you!

The ball had just been hurled when Uuni entered, hitting the wall behind her and whizzing past only to be snapped up by strong jaws. Still clenching the ball in her mouth, Condoroth let out an interested trill, getting to her feet with surprising grace. The green was definitely starting to get big! Whirling blue eyes met Uuni's as she briefly nudged her head against the brunette's shoulder.

The lake? The blonde didn't hesitate, swinging her feet over the edge of her bedding to drop down to the ground with a simple "Yes,". She looked tickled pink as she approached the older girl and leaned in to give her a hug, accompanied by a kiss on the cheek.

"It's good to know I'm your favorite something. How are you?"

Uuni grinned and uttered a, "Now, now, don't get too familiar." And speaking of familiar, Uuni hardly recognized Condoroth at all. The dragon had grown in huge leaps and bounds in a metaphorical sense.

Despite her words, she returned the hug tightly. When she'd broke the contact and given an appropriate wave in Condoroth's direction, she returned herself to talking to Kesslan.

"Good, good. You know, the usual. I met Avery's roommate today. She is one grumpy b***h." She looked quite thrilled as she looped her arm through Kesslan's before half-dragging the girl outside of the weyr.

"You should come, too, Conodorth!" she yelled back over her shoulder. There was no denying it; she was excited to be doing something absolutely ridiculous in life again.

"You have to tell me all about weyrling lessons on the way. Has Condoroth started to fly yet?" She was far, far behind on Kesslan's life, but she had to admit that she was utterly pleased to see the girl again.

"No such thing as too familiar with you, friend!" If Uuni had been paying enough attention to Kesslan [she rarely did, to be honest], she would've notice the immediate falter in her smile at the mention of Avery's roommate. A split-second later and she was grinning again, pleased to be arm-in-arm with someone who had become one of her favorite people in the Weyr.

"Rawni? Yeah, she's not the nicest." She made Avery seem sweet like honey. Condoroth, of course, was right behind them, and shortly, ahead of them, leading the charge like calvary.

"We start beginning flight lessons soon, so officially no, we're not supposed to let them. I have seen her hopping about like she's considering it, though." A laugh. "She's always trying to get ahead."

By now, they were in sight of the lake, a few people were milling about, but most were heading toward the dining hall. "Weyrling lessons are going well. We're in the top of our class, and I think F'sey and I are at a truce, at least."

The young Candidate had no idea what was going on when he'd watched a woman run past him earlier in the halls, having gotten out of her way simply because he didn't want to get bowled over, but as Liniyie watched the figure depart towards the weyrs he couldn't help but feel slightly curious as to what was going on. Still, it was none of his business so he found himself shrugging off the passing and heading outside to get a bit of the air.

The Weyr had been feeling stuffy with its sudden temperature changes, hot to cold and all the wonderful things in between, so being outside near the lake was a good change of pace for a person who'd been running here and there in what seemed like endless lessons. He'd had no plans other then just to go down and maybe stick his fingers in the water, maybe even a foot or two if he was feeling bold, but seeing how the temperature was and how he knew what colds did to the body . . .

" . . . . "

Liniyie squatted down near the shore, his eyes cast out over the waters, humming softly to himself as he heard others draw close. There was no need to react, he'd been allowed out here. Or at least he'd allowed himself.

Uuni was most certainly not paying enough attention to Kesslan. She heard the words, and she was doing a very good job of listening, but she had to avoid tripping on her own feet.

"Wait!" she said shortly after they'd arrived in a nice area that wouldn't catch oversplash. Leaning on Kesslan for support, she carefully undid the lacings of her shoes. Wincing, she proceeded to pull them off delicately. There were a few blisters on her toes that were red, slightly swollen and certainly painful. Note to self: Do not run in these shoes again.

A grimace lining her face, she set them down on the rocks and gingerly picked places to put her now bare feet. "Okay."

Passing Kesslan a smile that was both broad and full of joy, she pushed her hand against the girl's shoulder and stood up straight.

It was then that she saw the young man, rear towards them. In the few seconds silence, she could hear the lovely melody of a song. She glanced over at Kess and with her right hand still on the girl's shoulder, she squeezed lightly.

Catching the girl's gaze, she jerked her head just barely in the boy's direction. Two was fun, but three would be a blast.

Kess took the opportunity to quietly remove her good, wherhide boots, not needing the support [one could presume she either had better balance, or didn't need the excuse to touch Uuni], setting them aside and removing her longsleeved over tunic and belts.

It didn't take any special effort on Uuni's part to catch K'lan's gaze, as the girl's dark eyes were already locked on the attractive young woman. It was a rare sight to see her smiling so honestly, and the blonde couldn't help but find herself a bit enraptured with it all.

Especially to be the recipient of that smile. Today was turning out to be quite good and she followed Uuni's gaze with a grin. Oh, that boy. He was a weyrbrat, a bit younger than she, but still in her age group... She searched for his name...

"Ho, there, Liniyie!"

The brightly colored green was busy practicing leaping from large rock to rock by the lake, crooning in delight. "C'mere for a moment, won't ya?" Her friendly smile and wave was enough to attract anyone.

At the sound of his name Liniyie visibly flinched, his shoulders rising up and his whole body tensing, though the moment quickly passed as he turned his head to look towards whomever it was that had addressed him. When he saw that it had been a rider his brain immediate ran for names, though he soon found himself at a loss for who was who among this crowds. The fact that she knew his name had his interest, her presence commanding twice as much when the youth noticed the woman had a partner with her that he'd seen running through the Weyr earlier.

"Oh."

Seeing as he'd been called over now he had no choice but to respond to the call of a rider. If it had been someone else Liniyie probably would have waved them off and gone about his way, but now . . .he rose to his feet and started over. He was still deep in thought for names when he finally reached the pair, the list of green riders (he'd seen the dragon) pulling through, plus the list of green riders that were female. It was a short list, so a gamble could be made and he wouldn't feel so much like a deadglow.

" . . . .Hello, K'lan. What can I do for you?"

Uuni was a very bad liar, and in that respect, she was a very bad actor. Still, through a series of swallowing and coughing, she managed to keep the smile from her face as Liniyie walked over.

Rubbing down her arms with her hands when she'd finally gotten her composure, she eyed Liniyie from top to bottom. She supposed he was sort of cute, but she had to catch herself - they were here to jump in the lake.

He came much like she would have guessed a trained flitt would. His expression made her think that maybe he was a bit out of comfort in the scenario, but Uuni was a horrible judge of gazes unless they meant one thing and one thing only.

Liniyie wasn't giving her that gaze, so she was as good as hopeless in the category. The edges of her lips twitching, Uuni looked over at Kess to see just what it was she wanted.

She'd done the calling, so she could have fun with the 'manipulation' aspect.

"Well met to you, Liniyie!" Kesslan's cheerful tone didn't seemed to be dampened by the boy's respectful use of her title, and she peered past him from where they stood on the rocks, looking for something out in the water.

Do you see anything fun out there, Condoroth?

Yes, Mine! There are jumping rocks in the middle! When I am bigger I will fly you and our Uuni out there!

"If you could be of assistance, I'd dearly appreciate it, see, my companion here, Uuni, she doesn't have the best eyes, nor do I." A gesture. "My Condoroth tells me there are some great rocks in the middle of the lake for jumping, but I can't make them out, can you?" She pointed over his shoulder.

She has the same innocent smile on her face as the boy turned, her hand going to clap his shoulder and back in a gesture of friendship, and accidently nudging him a bit too far. So far, in fact, that it would be hard to avoid tumbling off the rock into the cold water below.

"Shards, Liniyie, are you alright?" Her eyes were wide with innocent humor and concern.

When he hit the water he felt like he'd just been stepped on by a runnerbeast all over his body, sharp pains of cold stabbing at him more then odd feeling of wet, and Liniyie sputtered for a moment as he tried to clear his lungs of the water that surely entered on impact. His coughing echoed until he was pretty sure he'd gotten all of it out, his chest burning from the effort, and he finally turned his head towards the two women who'd tricked him. He wasn't slow enough to think he'd fallen - he'd been pushed.

" . . . "

He didn't know if he could let them know he was angry, as he seriously was, because he wasn't sure if telling off a Rider would result in him getting in some form of trouble. If he would come off it Scott-free then shards, he'd be giving both women a taste of punishment that comes from getting someone who was content to stay dry soaking wet. And cold.

But. . . seeing as he didn't know, he'd let it slide. Revenge would be coming later and he was already getting used to the temperature. Might as well swim if he was going to be in like this.

"I don't see anything out here, if you pushing me off the rocks was to make me look closer. Perhaps you'd like to come in and join me in the search, both of you?"

The poor guy didn't fall in a very funny manner. It was almost saddening in fact. Or, it would have been, if Uuni wasn't so excited to get into the water himself.

"Kesslan, that was very, very rude," Uuni teased with a grin that quickly broke into laughter. She took the step forwards into the water and offered her hand towards the fallen male.

"We would, actually. There's a rock 'round the other side. You gonna come jump off it with us?" Pausing only to give him a wink, she added. "You're already wet, you know, might as well."

It was indeed quite rude. So was Condoroth butting Uuni's back with her large head the moment the young woman bent over to help the male Candidate, with enough force to knock her in as well.

At this point, Kesslan couldn't help the laughter building in her chest, bubbling forth as she bent at the waist, hands on her knees. Condoroth was chortling quite happily for a dragon, and the blonde reached out to swat the green's large shoulder.

"Condoroth! That was very, very rude!" The green looked completely unabashed, trumpeting triumphantly before leaping into the icy water and sending splashwaves in all directions.

Glancing over at Uuni, she reached out a hand in an almost identical fashion to the brunette's early action. Tone warm, almost suggestive, she raised her brows innocently.

"Want to grab hold?"
PostPosted: Wed Sep 02, 2009 6:47 pm

Liniyie did his best to move out of the way when the brunette came toppling in as well, the dragon he'd seen before the culprit this time in the pushing, and he winced as he watched the figure slap the water in the same manner he'd done. That made two in, three with the dragon now making her own rounds, and Liniyie couldn't help but grin widely as he watched Kesslan reach down and offer to help her companion out.

"No, you can come in."

Using his longer arms he reached over and grabbed the blond by the wrist and gave her a strong pull, hoping at least to cause enough pressure to cause her to topple in and join the two shivering figures. Well, at least he was shivering anyway.

The water was much colder than Uuni remembered. She swallowed a great deal of it before she found her back to Liniyie, her hair and clothes quite a bit more than damp.

It took a bit longer for the whole situation to register. "Condorth!" Uuni snapped, but there was laughter interlaced within every letter of the word.

Pushing her hands into the lake and the rocks and sand beaneath, she maneuvered herself in the direction of sitting upright.

She never quite got there. It seemed Liniyie had an advantage over Kesslan, and Uuni found herself scrambling to avoid a rather blonde lap partner

"I'm not sure if this is the jumping I had in mind," she said with a grin as she looked towards Kesslan. Water was dripping down her face and she wiped this away with the back of her hand which was, sadly, also wet.

"So, who's racing me to that rockpoint?" Uuni outstretched an arm and a finger in the direction of the place she meant. It wasn't too terribly far away. It was certainly easily obtainable in a quick sprint over painful cobbles, or a swim if someone wanted to save their feet.

"The lake is beautifully deep over there. Kind of like Kesslan's eyes."
