Madoka looked down at her hooves and shook one of them. "I wonder if I like them..." She thought out loud. She had just gotten some bracelets and earnings and she couldn't decide if she liked them. "Oh well... I guess if i decide I don't like them I can just take them off." She shifted her pink eyes from her stripped hooves and she looked around. Another new area... At least it would give her something to do, right?
The indifferent mare walked down the path in front of her, her eyes generally gazing downwards as she walked. She didn't much have the self esteem or confidence to look other horses in the eye. So if she watched the ground, she could say hello with out to much effort. She still felt like she didn't fit in. And she wasn't doing much to improve that. She wondered around aimlessly, and had no friends, home or anything. As much as she tried to make sure she avoided thinking about the old herd and how much it hurt to wake up and them be long gone... She never got over it. She never talk to anyone about it, she jsut tried to pretend it didn't happen.
She met something, something that was unfamiliar, her pink eyes shifted from looking down and over to the side. There was a two leger camp... They were cooking vegetables it looked like. She watched them and started to realize just how hungry she was.

Blech, humans. Humans were about as filthy as birds and feathers, if not more so. They wore hides from the animals they killed with arrows whose tips were made of stones that came from who knows where. Those hides had to be infected with some kind of germ, some sort of disease. And some even wore feathers in their hair. Ritalin could only shudder at the thought of having one of those...things in his hair. The only clean thing they did was cooking their meals before eating them. Other than that, they were filthy.
But of course, he still soaked up their attention like a wet sponge. He simply had to pace back and fort, walk in circles, and shake his head every so often to receive their "Oh's" and "Ah's." That was another of the few good things about humans, they paid attention to anything that moved.

Madoka was much to shy to walk to the food. She wanted it badly too. But she shyed away and walked further down along the path. Hearing some noises from the two leggers, and what sounded like another horse. Of course. She wondered how horses could deal with being so close to the other creatures. She looked over just in time to catch something that was a pure white coloring. It seemed to be the center of attention over there. She walked in over behind a tree... And she peered out.
What was she doing? They would certainly all see her, and she probably chase her away. She didn't belong with them. She saw the white again, and all seemed to leave her mind. It was another horse.

Ritalin was beginning to grow bored of the attention of these Humans. Their gasps of astonishment started to become chattering in their own language which Ritalin couldn't even begin to understand. What was the point of showing off for these pitiful beings if he couldn't even understand their praises? It would be like taking a mouthful of water on a sweltering summer day and then proceeding to spit it all back into the pond you drank it from. It was just stupid.
He was about to leave when he felt a different pair of eyes on him. He hadn't heard any other voices chattering, so he could safely presume that this new presence wasn't Human. Tossing his head to see the new presence, he spotted a shock of hot pink. He cocked an eyebrow at it before realizing that it was attached to a jet black mare. The cocked eyebrow quickly straightened itself out as he approached the black mare, who had more hot pink decorating her body as Ritalin found out while approaching her, ingnoring the chatter of the humans.
"Well hello there sweetie. You look a bit lost, do you need some help finding your way home?" He asked, turning the sugar and butt kissing up to maximum.

The white stallion was walking toward her. It almost made her pink eyes burn with how bright he was... Just how did he stay that clean? She started to back up some... He was staring right at her. She felt herself blush and get flustered. No, this wasn't good... As she backed away, her rump pushed into another tree, causing her to get a little stuck.
"I.. I-i'm sorry..." She muttered out at him and glanced away. She probably bothered him by looking at him. It was her luck. " I didn't mean to stare..." She finished in a low toned voice, almost inaudible like she felt she was.
But he had talked over her. 'Lost, home' What home? She wandered without a purpose... She didn't let her eyes meet his. But the brillant, crystal like blue was pierced into her memory.
"No..." She stated, more defiantly them she had planned.. "Oh.. I mean.. um... I'm sorry, I.. don't have a home, so being lost doesn't apply to me." Her voice raised slightly. He seemed like a nice stallion. But niceness never got anyone very far did it? She was nice to her herd, and they still left her. Pathetic.
She wanted to ask him if he belonged to the two leggers with how they fawned over him, but she didn't want to ask without being told. She liked the idea of "never speak unless spoken too". But if he really was a nice guy... Maybe he wouldn't mind it?
"You... to... legger?" She asked him, but her barely audible voice probably left him with many wholes... She had no confidence in her own voice.

"Oh, need to be sorry my dear, I enjoy it when pretty young mares like you stare.Of course, I just enjoy it when you stare." He told her smoothly, smiling and adding more and more sugar coating onto his words. This mare obviously had confidence issues, a trait that made her the perfect victim. He could build her up with praises, and leave her. She would destroy whatever confidence he gave her, and then she'd need him to praise her again. And so he would begin the vicious circle that gave him the attention he thirsted for.
"No home? For a pretty young mare like you? Surely any sensible herd would take you in. You could be their pride and joy!" All he had to do was shower her with praise, and soon she'd be begging at his feet for more.
"Hm? No, those two leggers aren't mine. They just found me to be pleasing to the eye, as you most likely do. It's okay to admit it, I wouldn't mind in the least" He let this statement go airily with the hope that it would draw her into a sense of comfort. For something to be addicting, it needs to be comforting.

His words were making her feel ill. She wanted to tell him to stop, but... What right did she have? She was useless... He didn't know her, or anything about her. A herd pride and joy... He was full of crap. Maybe he was a blind nice guy... If he was this would never stop, and she'd walk away looking for the closet cliff to hurl her worthless self off.
"Actually... I" What was she doing? He just wouldn't shut up, it was sickening. All her energy was being pushed in this statement, she was always so passive, and submissive that taking a stand took all her energy but it wasn't a really nice thing to say... "Looked at you because... you're so blindingly white... it hurts my eyes, and I like ... pa... How do you keep your coat so clean?" She almost let out her secret. She liked the pain. Not so much physical... No, but something like this wasn't all that painful. She needed it to remind her that she did exist. She needed someone to tell her how to live.
But after she had said it... She felt horrified. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!!" She lowered her heard apologizing repeatedly. She felt ready for it. He would tell her off like most did, and she would go on her way again. She could never be friends with someone nice. Because they were to indirect. And for someone who... Had no idea who they were, or where they belonged, airy, and indirect, were only things to get her more lost.

"Blinding? I'm blindingly bright, that's what you said, correct? Listen here ugly, if you want to insult someone, you have to be meaner about it. Telling me I'm blinding is only going to boost my ego, dumb broad. If you really want to insult, hit them where it hurts. In fact, you lack so much confidence in yourself it's disgustingly pathetic. Now hows about you just go and drown in a lake, hm? This world doesn't need something that's both ugly and idiotic." He took off the sugar coating and butt kissing. Even if she had failed in insulting him, he was still going to lash her with words. Normally he would brush such a petty insult off, and as he had stated previously, let it boost his ego. But the way she was just so pitiful about it made him sick. The only way this mare could get more disgusting was if she rolled in tar and then covered herself in feathers.
"Oh sure, of course you're sorry. All of the worthless horses with no spine like you are always sorry. Sorry that they were born, sorry that they bother people, sorry that they attempt to insult others. You're so pathetic! You make me sick, do you know that? You're self pity only makes you uglier. The vomit that's pressing against my throat is more appealing than you!" He hated those with no backbones. Always apologizing, wallowing in their own self pity. It was so ugly, as ugly as the birds.

She closed her eyes as she let his word beat her. He was right, she knew that. And honestly, having someone else tell her, it didn't matter. She wanted to drown in that lake. But what made her even more sick was herself. She should have the ball to say "screw them!" and go off and find a new herd but she couldn't. The un-knowing of why they left her behind. It ate away until she was a black whole of self pity. She already knew all this, so his words didn't hurt.
She finally opened her eyes and she smiled lightly at him. "I really wasn't to sure if you were a real nice guy. I'm glad you're not." His insults were like words of comfort to her. She seemed to enjoy them, the sick feeling in her stomach started to go away. Some day, she would tell someone. And some day something will happen to cause her to say "screw them" but until then, she'd just be aimless and lost.
"All your praising, was making me sick. I couldn't take it anymore." But in the end, she still wanted to know how he stayed so clean like that.

"Are you telling me you actually enjoy me insulting you? Have you lost every vertebra in your spine, or are you just jerking me around? Because either way, you're uglier than any bird I've yet to see." He was definitely put off by this strange mare. She seemed to enjoy wallowing in her self pity, and was apparently comforted by insults. He had to wonder if there was seriously something wrong with her mind. No normal Soquili would ever bow their heads and take blow after blow of insults.
"Well, why in the name of your ugly and hopefully dead grandmother are you still here? Do you want to be insulted more or something? Is that what you need, someone to constantly put you down? Do you need an anchor around your neck so you can sink all the way to the bottom? Because if you do, you can come to me at any time. I'd thoroughly enjoy driving you to the point of rock bottom. An addiction to me is an addiction to me is an addiction to me, and that's all I need from you, or anyone else. Now, do you want me to pledge to be your cement hooves, or do you want to swear to stay by my side so that I can put you down?"

Again, she had heard it all before. It was getting to be more annoying then anything. She couldn't help it, if she had some kind of a thing for this treatment. Maybe it really was her cry for help, but she never noticed it.
"Ah..." She blinked at him. Was he saying he'd be her friend? To normal horses, friends are not what this would be. But for Madoka, it was what she wanted and probably needed. "Yes! yes of course!" She was happy to accept his offer to let her stay with him. But what was real friendship? Now that she thought about it... She was never particularly close to anyone in the herd she devoted her life too. No one to comfort her when she got hurt, or to tell her accomplishments too.
But it was then that it hit her. She wanted to badly to be around someone that she greedily accepted the offer... What if he didn't sick around? She'd be crushed. Her black hole would get larger. Blindly accepting this from a complete stranger... Ah, it was in her nature. She trusted to easily, and was loyal beyond comparison. Her black hole shrunk, ever so slightly.
"My name is Madoka."

What the mare said shocked Ritalin. She really wanted to stick by his side so he could insult her at any given moment? She really wanted him to be an anchor around her neck and drag her down to rock bottom? Could he even stand to be around someone like her for a prolonged period of time? He honestly didn't know.
Well, he could stick around for a bit, to see if he might be able to turn her. Maybe once he destroyed her, he could reconstruct her to have a spine, to make her beautiful like him. Because that was what the world needed. Beautiful people. He would make her beautiful, and she could make others beautiful. And then they could make the entire world beautiful, and then all those who were ugly would want to become beautiful And they would become beautiful through death.
"Well...Madoka, what a disgusting name, was your mother under the influence of firewater when she named you? You can call me Ritalin, as I expect you to. And you will constantly give me attention. You don't have to say anything, but rest assured, I will know if you're not looking at me. I will talk, and you will listen. And if I tell you to leave for a brief period of time, you will. You should understand, as I've said everything in a manner that simpletons like you can understand. Now come, we're leaving this place."

She smiled at him in acknowledgment. Though, she felt a tinge when he talked about telling her to leave for periods of time. She really didn't like to be alone. She never met her parents. So maybe that was when she learned to hate being alone.
She thought for a moment and then nodded, moving off the tree to follow after him. She hoped they would eat soon... But she didn't want to say anything. And she never got the answer to her question about his staying so clean.
She wondered where they would be going, since she had just arrived in that particular area, she never got to really explore it.

"Well then, we'll be getting away from these filthy things called humans. Don't even bother with their food, I'm sure its just as dirty as they are. And stop looking at the ground, stare at me if you must avoid eye contact with anything else." Ritalin demanded as he easily sauntered through the human camp, sniffing indignantly at the air and grimacing to tell the humans that he was displeased with whatever they had made. But he did need food. He could probably get Madoka to gather food for him, even if he did know all the prime areas for grasses and roots around this part of the plains. Plus she'd have to do the dirty work of rooting everything up as well, so he could remain pretty while she got dirty.
"We'll stop here for the night. Now, you and I are both hungry, so go find some roots or something. I'll follow you, and if I like whatever you find, I'll let you ask me something. Is that clear enough for you?"

Disgusting food? but it smelt so heavenly... She focused hard on the back of his head, stumbling over things at her feet. Thats right, she was so use to looking down when she walked, it was like she reverted to just learning peripheral vision. but the food, her eyes strayed slightly but snapped right back. Staaaaring. He must have been some kind of Diva to be okay with someone staring at him like this.
After then had walked away Madoka blinked when he stopped. Finally food... Wait what? He wanted HER to find it. Was he looking for a death wish? She had never been here before. THey would both surely die of starvation... Or at least she would, Well that wasn't true, she was a little more use to the plains, but her sense of smell was fairly good. She just needed to adjust to the extra smells of the forest for this.
A question? What would she want... OH YES. Her fire was lit now. She could ask him how he stayed so clean! YEA YEA YEA! She nodded at him in acknowledgment and she looked around.
She raised her nose a little and sniffed. Nothing but trees... She walked around some, watching the grounds for dropped berries and sniffed the air for sweet smells. After walking around she had found a small berry bush. It didn't have much on it though... She had never eaten roots before, and didn;'t really know what kind were edible... It was ashame there wasn't apple trees near by.
She took a branch from the berry bush, and she pressed on, hoping to find a field when the sweet smell of something else caught her attention. Following it, she found honey suckle weaving around a tree.
"Honey suckle..."
