Champe was dancing.She was happy,she got her first fruit from a tree....by HERSELF!"That was soo good!'she hummed,prancing about.

 Kaliska wandered around the forest looking for...well nothing in particular. She was just happy wandering around and sniffing at the interesting fungus and animals. Though she did have to admit sniffing the little animals was turning out to be rather hard, they always ran away and she would have to settle with sniffing where they were. She continued to wander around when she heard someone else near her. Kaliska stopped and thought of what to do....to approach or not approach, that was the question. But of course being young and curious it was a short argument with herself and she began to make her way towards the noise. When she reached it she was surprised to see a mare dancing around a fruit! It seemed like a strange ritual of some sort but it did look like fun. She wanted to join in! She made her way closer holding her head high and with a happy demeanor.
"What are you dancing for?" she asked the mare, hoping she wasnt interupting anything too important. It didnt look like a sacred ceremony but of course her imagination was running wild and so she hoped there wasnt some small detail she might have missed.

Champe looked at the newcomer foal and answered."Why,I'm dancing around because this is the first fruit I got by myself!I'm very proud,and happy,so I'm dancing around.Would you like to join in?"She asked,prancing in one place.

Kaliska looked wide eyes at this new mare, she had gotten a fruit all by herself?! Wow! Kaliska was still too small to be able to reach the fruit and they always looked so high that she just waited for the ripe fruits to just fall to the ground and then she would enjoy their sweet flavors. But this mare had managed to pick one all on her own. that certainly was a feat to be reconed with!
"Wow you got it all by yourself! Thats awesome! I'd LOVE to dance" Kaliska answered and began to prance around with the mare. This was getting to be a fun day and she half wondered how long the mare had been dancing, since Kaliska had found her already dancing. Kaliska hopped skipped, kicked her feet into the air and jumped around, it was so fun to be able to just let loose and dance like this. kaliska wondered if all adults were this much fun to encounter. She hadnt met many....well ok this was the first other Kirin Kaliska had met since she hatched but she now wondered what others would be like. Maybe all adults danced when they got fruit.

Champe started mimicking the foal's movements,and soon they were in complete union."WAHOO!!!!!!!"she neighed from happiness."It sure is fun dancing with you!Any other adult would have counted me weird!"she danced for a second more,then stopped."Whew!I'm tired!'she looked at the foal still jumping around.

Kaliska stopped a little after the mare stopped, and pranced over so that she was standing near the mare to better see and hear her. Kaliska wondered what the mare was talking about when she said the other adults would think she was weird. "So then not all adults are like you?" Kaliska asked between huffs. She was still catching her breath since she didnt have too much stamina having only just hatched. In her mind all adult kirin looked like this mare mostly because this was the only kirin she had ever seen, she hadnt even seen her own reflection yet and so assumed that she was also the same color as this mare.
She looked around at the clearing and then once again at the brightly colored fruit on the ground. Kaliska then thought to ask a question that she had been wondering about. "So how did you get the fruit all by yourself?" Kaliska was curious and wondere if it was an adult secret or if she was just too short to reach. maybe there was a trick to getting fruit that she would have to figure out. But at any rate this mare seemed like a good way to learn it.

Champe sighed."No,most aren't like me.They would stare at us like were crazy if they saw us."after hearing the little girl's question,she looked around conspiracy-like and whispered,"I climbed.See these hooves?They have sharp edges,and if you gently push them into the tree bark,you can climb high enough to get a fruit."she straightened."It's very hard though,to stay up like that for more then several seconds takes much strength.I doubt you'll be able to reach it right now,but I'll help you train to get stronger.Would you like that?"she looked into the eyes of the pretty blue foal and added,"You have a beautiful coat."

Kaliska had to admit she was completely surprised that other adults would not enjoy dancing like they did. In fact she said they would think that the dancers were crazy! Such preposterous things! Maybe not all adults needed to be met. Kaliska wondered how she would be able to tell the difference between fun adults and not fun adults....maybe she would just have to get them talking...yeah that seemed the only way...
"You CLIMBED! whoa" Kaliska stared at the mare in shock! She would have NEVER thought of that! She looked down at her hooves and noted that they did indeed have sharp edges and points that could be used as the mare described. "I would LOVE for you to teach me! That would be so cool!" Kaliska pranced in place out of excitement and felt her tail swish quickly behind her. Kaliska suddenly realised that she didnt know the mares name and decided to figure out what it was. "My name is kaliska by the way. I dont think I ever introduced myself, and whats your name." Kaliska asked happily, but then she remembered that the mare had complimented her coat...but wasnt everyone the same color? She ddecided to clear this up "Thank you for complimenting my coat but arent I the same color as you?"

Champe smiled."We will begin your training right away.My name is Champagne,by the way.But you can call me Champe.And no,your coat is white and blue,unlike mine.Every Kirin's coat is different.I don't know why."She shrugs.

Kaliska tilted her head to one side and thought about what Champe had just told her. Everyones coat was different...that meant that she hadnt seen half as much of the world as she thought she would have seen by now. Geezse how big could this world be?! She was starting to think that it would take alot longer to explore everything than her original estimates had made her think. She shook her head and decided to focus on the present. champe was going to teach her how to climb trees!! This was going to be fun!
"Sure lets start! So what do i have to do?" kaliska swished her tail and looked at Champe eagerly waiting for instructions from her new teacher.

Kaliska nodded and looked around for a good sized rock. She pranced around until she heard Champe call her for help. "Sure thing!" she said eagerly as she jumped over to the mare and started trying to move the rock. She heaved with all of her tiny bulk and did her best to move the rock. She tried puching with her neck, her legs, and eventually her whole body but she was sure that the mare was doing most of the work. Kaliska was just to small and light to really be of much help. But as long as she was trying she felt like she was accomplishing something.
Finally the rock was under a tree and Kaliska let herself slump up against it as she stopped to pant for breath. Even though she was sure she hadnt been much help she had put all her effort into it and so she was tired. "What....*huff*...do we....*huffhuff*....do now?" Kaliska asked as she did her best to catch her breath. Moving rocks was hard work!

Champe was huffing as hard as the filly.After she had caught her breath,she answered."Now I climb up on the rock...."she climbs on the rock"And the I do this!"using her sharp front hooves,she pushed them in the bark and quickly used them to leap up and grab a fruit from one of the high branches,so the little one didn't had as far to reach.Then she dropped down again."You can't REALLY climb,but you can use them to reach higher."She chomps on the fruit."Now YOU try!"she gently nudges the hindquarters of the foal.

Kaliska watched as Champe gave the instructions and went through the motions. She really wanted to be able to do this right even though she was smaller and not as strong. She was sure that if she could at least get the right technique then everything would come in time. She watched as Champe dug in her hooves and used them as a raised platform to get the fruit. It was GENIOUS!! kaliska was so excited to try it! Once Champe gave her the go she waited for the mare to climb down from the rock and then got ont the rock herself. It was a high jump for kaliska but she could do that, that seemed like it would be the easiest part of this trial. She then tried to dig her front hooves into the bark of the tree like Champe did but since she was smaller and lighter they didnt go in too deep. However this did not Deter the young foal who did her best to leap using her new found method!
She leapt as high as she could and was still about a foot too low but it was higher than she had ever gotten before. In her excitement she forgot to pay attention to her landing on the rock and stumbled then slipped off the big rock, ending up rolling in the grass. "DID YOU SEE DID YOU SEE!!" She asked in an excited and childlike tone> She was so excited that she began to talk quickly and eagerly. "Ijumpedanditworkedanditwasso HIGH IcantbelieveIdidit!!" Kaliska was hardly breathing as she spoke and so had to stop before she got light headed. this was turning out to be a reallt wonderfull day.

"I SAW THAT!!!!THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!"the mare was just as excited as the foal,she was skipping around.After a while she stopped,and gave the foal a hint."If you tilt a little to the right,you will see a huge bundle of apples.Go for them.You'll reach one,at least!"sh starts prancing around again,from happiness and excitement.
