Damn it was hot today, Deception shook out his black mane so it wouldn't stick against his thick leathery neck. Clacking his fangs together the massive kalona stallion moved off in search of some fun. Luckily for anyone he met the stallion wasn't hungry for the moment. His long thick tail swayed behind him as he moved easily through the lush green grass. Deception was built like a tank standing just a tiny bit over 15 hands high with thick muscling beneath his leathery dappled coat. Huge hooves barely seemed to make a noise as he ghosted across the small open plain. His gigantic leather wings weren't folded down against his back but nor were they sticking straight up, he let them droop lazily as he walked. There didn't seem to be much of a fire in the male to go anywhere at any kind of fast pace, more like he was just out on a lazy hot summer day stroll. That was until something seemed to light up his eerie white eyes with a fire and he took off as is a rocket had been strapped to his rump. The previously quiet hooves were suddenly pounding like thunder on the earth. He plowed forward, gaining momentum, then suddenly his large wings gave one, two powerful flaps and he was airborne. Size wise, one wouldn't expect Deception to be able to fly very well, but he was just as graceful in flight as he was on the ground, and many of his senses were attuned to flight. His hawk like eyes scanned the earth, or what not even he knew at the moment, he just knew he wanted -something- to do .... -someone- to play with.

Ever since she had first taken to the air, flying had been a favorite activity for Bodhisattva. She loved the graceful feeling of floating. She loved to sing while in flight and she loved to perform aerial acrobatics. Some of this she would readily admit was for the sake of impressing whoever might be watching her. Bodhi knew that she had talents and beauty and was always of the mind that to keep them to herself would be selfish.
That day, however... that bright sunny day it was a little too warm to be indulging in her usual sporting maneuvers. Usually the wind would keep her cool but today even with the breeze she felt sweat sticking her fur in clumps. That didn't please her at all. Bodhi might love flying but she hated feeling sticky. A small frown creased her mouth downwards. Maybe she'd try to find a body of water to take a swim in instead.
She turned her trajectory slightly and it was then that she noticed the other figure rising from the ground. It was another flying soquili! Heat or not, Bodhi couldn't help herself. Her wing fluttered gracefully and then tucked inwards. She did a series of three graceful rolls before evening back out again.
There. That will get some attention, she thought smugly to herself.
It was then that she felt a moment of doubt. The way the other soquili was flying... was a little odd. The wings didn't seem to bend quite right... quite right for a soquili with feathered wings, at least. With a sudden chill, Bodhi swerved her flight path. She didn't know this soquili and they could mean her no harm... but she'd give them a little distance just to be certain.

Deception had his eyes trained almost solely to the ground so he nearly missed the female flying higher above him. That was until he thought he saw as shadow cast on the ground bellow. His eyes snapped around as he scanned the ground, then up farther into the sky, darting back and forth, scanning every in of blue. It didn't take Deception long to spy the brown spec above and slightly ahead of him.
A twisted grin twisted upon his muzzle, showing vicious fangs, the huge kalona spread his wings farther and with a powerful flap rocketed faster towards his intended target. As he neared the figure the small size screamed female, feathered wings tipped in icy blues stretched out to the side propelling her in flight. White under belly, wind whipped mane, strange feathers on her forehead; everything about her was strange and different .. she would make a fine conquest to add to his list and he cared less how long it took, he had his eyes on the prize and it would be his.
With another flap of his wings he quickly closed the gap between them. He fly slightly bellow her, massive wings stretched out far enough she flew above them, her hooves nearly touching the leathery webbing.
"Hello m'dear ..." his voice was deep, thick as velvet and had a twang of a German accent in it's depths. He dipped lower so he could bank away slightly from her. The tips of his wings passed close to the tips of hers and he maneuvered in a wide circle looking her up and down.

A kalona. Kalona! The word echoed and pulsed through Bodhi's mind as she struggled to think of her next move. He was so close... From this close she could see every inch of muscled length to him. Everything about him spoke of power, from his muscular wings to the deep thrum of his voice. She recalled the power that she had felt from the angeni that she had once been blessed enough to meet. This was a different sort of power entirely, she realized with a shiver.
He didn't seem to be preparing to eat her yet... but how could she really tell if he was? She could out-fly him, couldn't she? Her eyes were locked on him in a sort of horrified fascination. She couldn't believe she was going to be killed by this creature. She just... couldn't. She was too young, too carefree to believe herself capable of death.
So what else was there to do but respond?
"Why hello there," she responded, using one of the musical trills she learned from her mother. "It's a beautiful day for flying, isn't it?" There. She had engaged with him. Her wing beats grew more steadied. Somehow, taking charge and speaking with the ominous creature felt better to her than just staring at him in shock.

Deception flapped his large wings and shifted away form her again, but only for a moment before he swooped back closer. He wanted to fly and yet his games would be so much easier on the ground ... ah well he would have to deal with it for now.
"It is a fine day for flying, though I've never been one that is able to easily converse while in flight." He stretched his large wings out giving them a small flap just to keep himself from dropping.
He grinned almost pleasantly at the female showing as little of his pearly fangs as was possible. Still something about the stallion didn't seem right, maybe it was just a natural aversion to the kalona race, or maybe it was those pupil-less eyes that looked as though they could see right into someone's very soul.
He gave her another smile and flew ahead for a moment, stretching his massive body out in flight. He to performed some aerial acrobatics, which where nearly as graceful as a Soquili half his size could perform. He performed a large hoop, before tucking his wings close to his body and dive bombing and spiraling towards the earth.

Bodhi couldn't help but admire the way the kalona spun and whirled on his way to the ground. The ways that his leathery wings moved as he flew was beautiful, she had to admit. It was strange that something so dangerous could still have such grace in the air.
She hesitated, watching him descend. Was it some sort of trick? Once she had landed, would he make a meal out of her? Then again... if he had wanted to eat her, he could have tried to attack her in the air. He had just proved that he was more than capable of a flier. He could have killed her by now if he had wanted to... broken her beautiful wings and sent her plummeting down to the ground below.
He'd start to wonder if she stayed aloft for too much longer. She gave one last look to the horizon before her before spiraling down. She was too distracted to give quite so fancy a display as the kalona had, but she still drifted down with the grace that eluded many other flying soquili. He could have killed her but didn't. That meant that... not that she could trust him... but maybe she could give him a chance. Bodhi was soon on the ground watching the large kalona. Intrigue and apprehension mixed within her. What would he do next?

Huge hooves touched the hard earth with barely a thud as Deception landed. His muscles rolled under his thick leathery coat like a pit of steel vipers ready to crawl out of their hell. His eyes turned to the sky and watched her hesitate to come down with him.
The corners of his mouth twitched, so she wasn't totally stupid. Or maybe she was, his train of though changed quickly as the mare started her descent for the earth bellow. The mocking smile faded into a mask of serenity as he stood there starring the female down as his glowing eyes once more seemed to bore into her very soul.
"There are very few that trust one such as myself." There was almost a hint of hurt in his voice, ah his mother had named and raised him well.
"Yet I hardly blame them, we have a bad reputation don't we." His tail curled back and forth, muscles rolling under his thick hide again. A breeze whispered through his messy black mane making the thick braid flop against his massive neck.
He flapped is leathery wings once then twice before folding them down against his back. He cocked his head to the side and his tail curled around a hind leg.
