Ok, here's how this works. thousands of years ago, the powers that be granted the sentient races the power to come together as one, a male and a female, and grow in power from doing so.
The male usually got powers that didn't suit Melee,(Not always but usually.), Such as Telekinesis, Telepathy, healing, super speed, heightened senses, ext. This was to represent the Chaos in the males hearts.

The female half on the other hand always get's powers suited to melee. This means being a giantess in the mini range. (7-30ft) This also means becoming physically so strong that it blows the mind, and able to take more punishment and shrug off/recover from more damage then one would think possible. This represents the females cool consistency over the ages.

The trick hear is that everyone has a mark, and when you come into contact with the person best suited to being your familiar, they react and grant you your powers.(No the girls don't out grow there cloths or have there gear left so small they can;t use it anymore.)

Now, it is important to know that your linked to each other, but if you need privacy you can seal the link for a time. It's also important to note that just cause your a familiar with someone, doesn't mean the relationship has to be romantic. It can be, it happens quiet often, but it's not at all uncommon for Familiars to be bonded to each other and dating/ in love with/ even married to someone else. It should be noted that a familiar can also have a relationship with other familiars. Like the girl could be bonded to one guy, and seeing another who's bonded to some other female. Or vise verse. Similarly, both persons in the bond may get in on it if desired. Or it might be one seeing one form one bond, and the other seeing one from another.
It's also common for them to date people who have not bonded at all yet.
A final note would be that while it's EXTREMELY rare, it's been known to happen that two members of the same gender will bond. This is like a 1 in 5,000,000 million event, but it does happen. What the power results work out as can be unpredictable, but usually if it's to girls one of them gets the normal powers while one get's powers usually associated with male partners. But it's also been known that some times in this circumstance they will both get the normal female powers, or in the rarest cases, both get powers normally associated with males. For males the most common occurrence at this point it to get normal guy powers. Rarley one will get to be big, and even more rarely, both. The second one hasn't happened in 300 years, and third hasn't happened for 700. And both will be banned to male players if you like.

A final couple of notes. This would be contemporary fantasy. Fantasy set in modern day, with the world having evolved around it. Also, to the guys. While I mentioned that there had been male giants in the past, it's going to be banned in the rp. I only threw it in there for flavor.

Sarisa was driving around on her bike until she saw starbucks. So She went to park to get a french vinalla.

While walking into starbucks she says to herself not caring if anyone hears her, "I want to get a familiar before i turn nineteen...."

Sarisa thinks to herself, "he would be a good familar."

She answered him, "i'm eighteen but i turn nineteen tommorrow. why? are you interested in becoming a familar?"

Sarisa giggled and says, "i'm sarisa. To be honest i don't think you can handle me being my familar."

Sarisa giggles and says, "Will if you are to be my familar i want you to be able to handle anything i ask."

"That may well be the case, but don't forget the flip side. If I become your familiar, then you would similarly become my familiar. The idea is that the two partners are suppose to be equals that balance each other out." He grinned at her. "So, will you sit down Sarisa?" He held a hand out to her as he said this.

Sarisa giggled and says, "well okay then." She touched will's hand and then shot up to nineteen feet and says, "how that's it?" (um did i do that right?)
