Setting up a basic one-on-one? Yeah, never done it before. So, here's my wing:

Plot: A guy one day finds that he can no longer be hurt, but at a price. All of his injuries and maladies are transferred to another.

Setting: Um... Modern times? In the large, fictional city of Carrlow.

Yeah... Yeah, that's good...

Reka "RV" Vane of the Legard household was a simple girl in popular demand. Born from a loving marriage and raised in the best money could offer, Reka never had wanted. At least, not any that had to do with material things.

Her father, Cain Legard, spent most of his time in the confines of his office both at his home and work. If dog was man's best friend, briefcase was Cain's. His true home might be the airplane that shuttles him from city to city but his heart is always with his Wife and Daughter.

Sandra Legard was the highest and mightiest of Yuppies that might exist. Her nightmares consist of breaking a nail while on a hot date. Though short witted and blond to all extents she always tries her best for her daughter of 17 and 5'4" and does all in her power to make up for Cain's absence.

Even in a perfect home.... a perfect life.... problems arise. Deep within everyone's soul is something small and evil, begging to be dragged into the light. In a few... the light comes to them.

((Alrighty, first person...))
I carefully dragged the razor across my face.
Apparently not carefully enough, I think as blood dribbles down my chin. Wiping away the blood with a wad of toilet paper, I curse my genetically extra thick facial hair. Most guys my age can barely grow a weak mustache, but here I am, forced to carve away at my face with these little knives.
Wiping my face with a towel, I turn to scowl at the picture of my dad, with his huge bushy beard. He's posing with my mom and me on a beach somewhere that I don't remember. That picture is the only thing that I have left of either of them. Apparently I was also in the accident that killed them, but I don't remember that, either.
((More to come on this post, but I'm exhausted...))

Clouds caressed my frame as they stretched down in silky drapes, following the flowing curves on my hips as they stretched down to the ground before me and spilled forth like a mid-morning's fog. Silver strands of curled thread spun down around my shoulders, half being pulled up on one side with a golden ribbon. My hands pressed against my chest, my smooth fingers grazing the warm metal around my neck. I looked up to the sky to see the bright sun gleaming in all its glory. Though I can not see my eyes I can tell they are bright and blue, shining with the unbridled energy of youth. My painted lips part, only slightly, as a content sigh escapes them. Suddenly there is a touch upon my waist quickly growing in pressure. My body screams danger as I reach for what must be a demon grasping me for behind but before I can rip the hand that gropes me so a warm feeling spreads over me. I was so wrong, to think that this man that was with me was a demon. Ah, yes... a man he was. Strong, bold, and handsome. How I knew this I can not say for the arm that held me so tenderly was gray and black, like that of a fleeting shadow. A chill ran down my spine as he whispered in my ear words of the ebbing sea.

"One day, you will love me as tenderly as I love you now. I will grant you the greatest treasure as you give me your greatest gift... and together... We will be the most powerful force you have ever seen... or ever felt. But only if your love is true shall this future be.... Only if you can prove that you love me will I forever stay," he breathed gently, his words almost whispers.

There was no explanation needed for I knew what he meant and yearned for this to become reality.... yearned to see his face and to melt in his full embrace.

For the first time I spoke, my voice matching his power and emotion.

"Thine mind can not pretend to know what may calm your fears but for you... I give whatever you wish. Take it now... and treasure it as though it were truly me. And soon, we shall be together...."

I could feel his lips pull into a smile as his hand slipped from my waist and pulled away. A sadness welled inside me as I felt his presence leave, my skin growing cold.

A shrill call pierced through the air, sending my body into a violent jerk. My eyes shot open before quickly squinting back shut as the morning's light cut through them.

A moment passed before I realized that it was my alarm that had awoken me. A sigh escaped my lips as I rubbed my eyes and swung my legs to the edge of the bed. My feet pressed against the soft carpet as I stood, my hand coming down with a thud upon the top of my alarm's off button.

I have school, I thought angrily as I shuffled across the room to my closed bedroom door. I open my eyes slightly, a tall body mirror standing before me. Another sigh slipped from my lips as reality caught up with me.

There was no silver hair upon my head; no eyes of blue or dress of rolling clouds flowing to my feet. Only perfect curls of gold spilled over my shoulders while bright emerald peered out from my long golden bangs. A thin line of freckled danced across my face and I pulled my plump pink lips into a half smile.

My dreams always teased me so, but last night's... it felt so real. I shoved the dream to the back of my mind as I wrapped my hand around the cold doorknob and pulled the door open. It was about time that I left this dream state and welcomed my self to the real world.

"Stop hoping for something so false to become true.... Just get ready for school," I muttered to myself as I stepped out into the hall, pulling my shirt down a bit further.

Gathering my things, I made it out the door, moving toward the bus stop. The morning was cool, but it was slated to be another hot one today. As a result, I had chosen a sleeveless shirt, and was now freezing in the morning air. Sticking my hands in my pocket, I stood against the relentless cold, shivering it off of me like a WILD ANIMAL shaking loose it's attacker. Or, at least, that's what I told myself.
The bus arrived 15 minutes late, to my dismay. I climbed aboard the bus, already mostly filled with people, and made my way to the back. In all truth, I ate the bus. It's all paper airplanes, wads of gum, and french kissing. I only sat in the back because, surprise, nothing ever happens there. Well, except for the exaggerated bumps, but they're manageable.

I slowly made my way down the hallway, my feet shuffling the entire way. I flicked the light on without thinking and almost instantly. I held my hand up in an attempt to shield my eyes from the harsh light. I fumbled about as I searched for my toothbrush, a few items being knocked off in the process.

I stood there, my entire body feeling much like a zombie with the exclusion of my arm that went back in forth as I brushed my teeth. Next followed the monotonous task of prepping my face and hair for public view. Sometimes I truly hated being a football player's girlfriend. I had to constantly show I was on par with those no-brain cheerleaders.

I shuffled once more to my room, closing the door behind me as I peeled the long cotton shirt from my skin. A chill ran over me as I walked to my wardrobe and swung the doors open. I pulled what I peeked my interest from on of the drawers and took a shirt from among the many that hung on hangers.

It didn't take long for me to dress and hop down the stairs to the front door. My mother was already in the kitchen wrapping up the dishes from the wonderful breakfast I had missed. Her words rung in my mind before they ever passed her lips.

"Reka, you missed breakfast again. Now I have to rush you to school without a meal in your stomach once more." she called as she rounded the corner, her purse in hand.

"And once more you shall force me to eat that granola bar as I do every morning," I muttered as I snatched the bar from her outstretched hand and made quick work of the slightly sweet meal. If it was a meal at all.

"Lets go," I said I as I tossed my mother her keys from the small table by the door and left the house. She'd be with me soon.

The car ride to school was nothing new. By now you'd think I'd have all of it completely memorized by now. My lips followed my mothers words as she said them, pausing when she went astray from the norm.

I was bursting with joy as we pulled up to the front of the school.

"Mkay, Love you buh-bye~!" I said quickly as I hopped out of the car and darted for the school. It was my normal saying, taken from some old cartoon I used to watch or so my mother said.

I heard my mother say something to me but the words were lost as I slammed the car door shut. I was already over talking to her. Now it was time to socialize with people I really cared to talk to, though I didn't really have any close friends.

My routine trip to the locker was exactly that.
6:30 - Get off the bus.
6:35 - Get called a fashion disaster by all the popular girls I passed.
6:45 - Buy an energy drink from Dog Doug.
6:47 - Get all my books from my locker, store everything brought from home.
6:56 - Enter Biology.

The biology teacher had arranged a new seating chart for us today. I heard several snickers from people around me that they were being treated like children, and that they were being treated unfairly.
Funny, I always thought that only children complained about these things, I think to myself as I search out my name on the chart. Bruenor, Caleb...
Finding my seat, I prepare for another round of my least favorite class ever.

My high heels clanked in a some what melodic manor as I made my way down the high school halls, my hair bouncing with every model like step. Mother always did tell me that walking so made you look sexier. I couldn't quite complain with that.

I held my breath as best as I could as I passed the gym, the horrid smell of B.O clogging my pores. I could feel it now, a blemish lying in wait to make my day horrible. I decided to make a quick pit-stop in the girls bathroom before striding to my locker. A quick check in the mirror revealed that my face as perfect as always. A sigh of relief escaped my lips as I played with my hair for a few seconds before doing an about face and walking right back out to where I had just come.

As usual, my best friend Veronica was at my locker... or should I say our locker? All my life I had shared a locker with her and never once had we been separated.

She looked up at me, her eyes a tad expectant.

"Bathroom check?" she questioned, assuming correctly the cause of my tardiness.

I nodded my head in confirmation as I pulled the large purse from my shoulder and joined her side.

"I head that Mr.Biology changed seats again," she said simply as she fixed her make up using her little pocket mirror.

I gave her a slightly confused look as I spoke.

"Did a little birdie tell you or something? And Mr.Biology isn't his name, its Jacob Sioc... Won't you ever get that right?"

"No,"
she scoffed as she closed her mirror and jammed it into her bag which was even larger than my own. "Besides, he's hot... and hot guys don't have real names. Hes Mr.Biology 'cause he can teach me biology anytime."

She gave a little snicker as she took her books and held them in one arm. I did the same moments after, though I neatly put mine in my bag.

"Well, I have to go then. I can't be late if I don't know my seat," I said pleasantly before doing our little cheek to cheek kiss and departing.

My biology class was only a jump and skip away from my locker, much to my joy, and never posed much of a problem to get to on time. I strode in and walked straight to the paper in which my name would be listed. In truth, I wasn't very happy about being moved. I already had a good partner that I enjoyed working with and I was, by nature, a creature of habit. Now I would have to get used to another individual.

My eyes scanned the paper before falling upon my namesake. 'Good', I thought, 'I'm not too far from the back. I should be able to get my texting done from there.'

Next I looked at the name of whom I'd be partnered with. My eyes grew slightly as my mind registered the name. Caleb Bruenor. I seemed to remember that name before. Suddenly it had all come back to me. Yes, Caleb was that not all too bright person many tried to stay away from.

'Maybe we just judge him too hard,' I told myself as I turned with my eyes on the ground and started towards my desk. 'Maybe he's not that bad of a guy....'

I pulled my Biology book from my bag and placed it on the empty side of the table with a sound thud. I brought my eyes up as I started to speak but quickly lost the words as the man came into view.

"Oh,... H-hi there....," I said, fumbling with my words. I stretched my hand out to shake his. "I'm Reka. Its a pleasure to meet you."

'He's not that bad looking... a little rough on the edges but hey, I kind of like that in a man. Too bad I have a boyfriend... Dang you Charles. I should have dumped you when I had the chance.'

I shook Reka's hand, smiled. "Caleb." I said, sitting down. But, I already knew who she was. Everyone did. She was dating one of the school's star quarterbacks. If that wasn't enough, she was beautiful and popular, further solidifying her place in everyone's minds.
Suddenly nervous, I turn around to face the front without another word. What would I say to her, anyway? We came from two completely different worlds. Her rich, and I poor. Her beautiful, and me, well, me. her popular, and I, not so much. She was always surrounded by friends.
I cracked open my Biology book to any page. It didn't matter, since I wouldn't be paying attention anyway. As I stared at the picture of the inner workings of a fish, my mind began to wander....

'Firm grip,' I thought as I shook his hand. The moment, filled with his warm smile, didn't last long though. For some reason he just seemed to... freeze up. Did he not like me? His first interaction seemed to say otherwise but then he went and did this.

I slipped another sigh as I took my seat and pulled the work from the day before out from the pages of my book. I needed to quickly fill in the few questions that remained empty on the paper. Stupid me had decided One Tree Hill was more important. It was a stupid thought.

My pencil scribble across the paper as my heart started to thump just a few beats faster. Some of these questions were much harder than I had perceived and to be honest, time was very generous.

'Its fine,' I thought as I slid through the first two questions. 'Piece of cake...'

I went to the third blank, skimmed the words, then pressed the tip of my pencil against the paper as I started my response. A audible "snap" made me freeze and look to my hand that held the orange pencil. The tip, once pointed and perfect, was now completely gone. And there wasn't just a little bit missing like when a tip normally breaks. No, my luck was much worse. There was at least an inch of the pencil now laying at the edge of the table. Apparently the force of the snap and caused it to flip through the air and land right on the edge.

My eyes flashed to the clock. I would need to take at least a full minute or two to create a usable tip once more.

I slammed the pencil down onto the table top and tore through my purse in hope of finding a pencil or pen but had no luck.

"Damn," I cursed as I felt my face grow warm. I needed to fine a pencil and quick.

I stared at the deep blue of the ocean, watching all the fish swim by. There were turtles, sharks, corals, jellies, and starfish, too. It was a wonder. Suddenly there was a loud Crack!
I look over from my daydream to see Reka on a frantic search for something... Spying the broken pencil on the desk, I chuckle, and reach into my pocket to bring forth a shiny new Bic pencil. When she looks up, I wag it in front of me before holding it out to her.
"Contingency plan." I say with a smile. I hope it's funny. It could have just come out stupid or mean. I was never very good at the funny stuff.

My heart skipped a beat as I looked from the shiny pencil to the face in the background. A smile spread across my face as I spoke.

"I can borrow it? Oh, your a life saver!"

At that I promptly lunged towards him, wrapping my arms around his body in a hug. I pulled back sharply, taking the pencil from his hand.

"Thank you so very much! I'll repay you, I promise." I said hurriedly as I rushed to finish the last to questions.
PostPosted: Sun Sep 13, 2009 10:38 am

"Uh, no need." Caleb said, his eyebrow rising of it's own accord. The hug was so random and swift that he saw actually still frozen in place.
My, she's an odd one... He thought as he turned back to face the front. But, at the same time, her actions made him chuckle a bit.
He fished out a pencil for himself and a sheet of paper. He had it all figured out: when the teacher started lecturing, he would look up every couple of seconds and pretend to pay attention. That way, the teacher wouldn't know he was doodling. He also opened his book bag slightly, revealing an open bag of Doritos in parallel. That way, he could eat and draw and not get caught. It was a brilliant plan.
Reaching his hand into the bag, Caleb pulled out a single, perfectly shaped chip and placed it in his mouth. Licking his lips for another, he reached his hand toward the bag.
"Not so fast, Mr. Bruenor." Came the voice of Mr. Bacliun, the biology teacher. He was a stiff necked scoundrel who liked to teach his classes with long lectures and stiff note taking. After one such class on the anatomy of a dog, the kids started calling him Mr. Baculum behind his back. It was oddly fitting.
Bacliun took the chips from the backpack, balled them up, and tossed them, in a perfect J-shot, into the garbage.
