Blaice had never been fond of zoos, of seeing animals kept in cages outside of their true natural habitats. She understood conservation and preservation facilities but that was different and the seraph had no qualms with that. Zoos though, they had always seemed a bit wrong to her, like a private collectors personal hoard of special creatures put on display.
Tonight though she was putting her misgivings aside and taking Iggy to one. the local zoo was hosting a special night time events where kids could see the zoo's more nocturnal animals actually being active. Considering that Iggy himself was nocturnal Blaice figured it couldn't hurt to take him and really he needed to be out more. Perhaps he might even make a friend for the night, someone his age to walk the exhibits with. The blonde woman worried her son was under socialized and loney though he never seemed to show it.
Iggy just smiled as a special glow in the dark admittance bracelet was snapped on his wrist. He'd been awake for a few hours now and was energized and excited to see these special night time animals.

Sammi was thrilled. She'd only been to the zoo once before, and never after dark. "I wan see the kitties!" Kitties of course meaning everything that looked even remotely like a cat. Lions, tigers, jagulars, panthers, ocelots... She wanted to see them all. Normally she would have been asleep; as toddlers her age so often were. She'd taken a nap in the middle of the day, like her mother had asked, and she was fully energized for this next adventure. "Tank you," she said as one of the admitors put a glow in the dark bracelet on her wrist. She gave the man a bright smile before taking her mother's hand.
The admitor did the same with Reiya, but the less-social of the twins didn't seem so pleased. Why were they here? Mommy had said something about going to see 'Bedtime' animals. Reiya was not only the quieter of the two, she was also the most observant. The poster advertising the event had pictures of bats on it. So, as the logical toddler assumed, there'd be bats. As toddlers were known for doing, she quickly lost interest in this as they stepped inside the zoo grounds.
Thali paused, and read the sign. Big cats were in one direction, the bat house in another. "Alright, you guys want to see the kitties first, or the bats? We'll see both, don't worry. And birds, too. Like owls..." Something caught her eye, and she was certain it wasn't an exhibit. "Hey, girls. Go introduce yourselves," she let go of each of their hands, and nodded towards Iggy and his mother.

Iggy was shifting from foot to foot oblivious to the attention he had drawn to himself. Though it was less likely his actions that got him noticed than the fact that his skin glowed not unlike the bracelets that had been snapped onto one wrist. " We have to stay all night" he insisted fervently as he held onto his mothers hand and stared up at her with solemn eyes "We have to stay and see everything cause it's just one night." The little blonde couldn't come back the next night and see the animals he'd missed so he'd have to see them all tonight. It might mean staying up till it started to get light out but for Iggy it would be worth it.
Blaice smiled down at her young one "Maybe, I can;t promise anything but we'll try." The seraph didn't honestly think her son could walk all the way around the zoo's many exhibits without getting exhausted and at his age he could only be carried so long before weigh became a factor. " What do you want to see first?"

Sammi nodded, ever the more social of the twins, and made her way over to Iggy and his mother. This new person, he was cool. He was glowing, and that made him even cooler; glowing just like the bracelet she had on her wrist. "Hi!" She'd managed to get to his side, and was all smiles. "I Sammi, what your name?" At leas she was polite enough to introduce herself. She looked up at Blaice, and gave her a sunny smile. "Hi! I Sammi, what your name?" She repeated, for the adults benefit.
Reiya also made her way towards the two; well, counting Sammi it was three. She shuffled along, intentionally being slow. "Hi, I Reiya," she muttered. It seemed as if someone had missed their afternoon nap. Then she seemed to remember her manners, and forced a smile. "We going to see bats."
"Kitties!"
"Bats!"
"Mommy say Kitties first!"
"Bats!"
Uh-oh. The twins were arguing, and Sammi had the advantage. Smoke started to rise from her hands until...
"Hey, no smoking!" The guard clearly hadn't looked up to see what was causing the smoke, though Sammi stopped almost at once. Oops.

Iggy stared at the arguing pair for minute, they were weird and silly. ignoring both the smoke and the girl's suggestion he stated his preference and intentions. "Lizards first, they have cold blood." This of course was cool and Iggy wanted to touch one to see if it really felt cold.
The will o the wisps soul entourage spread out a bit and surrounded the little group of children almost as if forcing the girls the stay with Iggy. Not that the boy had control over them, they were just little glowy soul balls to him and they did what they wanted most of the time.

"Thought lizards only out in day," Sammi commented with a slight frown. She didn't know much about lizards, nor did she like them all that much. They were near the top of the 'icky' animals list she kept in her head. Which included bugs, snakes, spiders, slugs and other creepy crawlies. But there was something else... "Kay, we go see lizards firss," she agreed, before looking to Reiya.
Neither of the girls seemed to have an arguementive attitude now. "We go see lizards," Reiya agreed with a nod. Unlike her sister, she didn't mind them. They weren't as cool as bats and kitties were, but...
"We wait for Mommy?" Sammi asked, looking towards Thali. "Mommy! We go see lizards now!" It was useless to say that Thali was a little surprised.

Lizards first hmm, yep she had a boy for sure Blaice thought. The seraph a bit surprised when the girls who'd come up to Iggy also agreed, maybe her sons nature made it hard for others to disagree when he wanted to lead them somewhere. regardless they were going nowhere without the permission and accompaniment of the woman the girls called mommy. Blaice was going to have a hard enough time as it was keeping track of just one child never mind three.

(You're forgiven, of course. I'm sick, so naturally, this reply will be fail.)
Thali walked over to the group, frowning slightly. "Sammi, I'm sure you told me you wanted to see the Kitties first," she said. Oh well, if they wanted to see lizards now... "Alright then. Lizards first," the elf agreed. "Then what?" Silently she wondered what had changed her daughters' minds. They had really been set on seeing the big cats and bats... And then they'd met up with this boy. Maybe he had something to do with it?
"We see Kitties next," Sammi told her mother with a smile and a nod. "Then bats. Then..." Well, then they would see whatever Iggy wanted to see.
"Kitties next," Reiya agreed, to the surprise of her mother. The twins rarely agreed on anything. "Then bats."

With everyone in agreement and two adults to watch the three children the group made it way via the signs to the indoor reptile exhibit. Along one side were large glass fronted enclosures with snakes inside them, some looked empty and in others you could see the long legless beings slithered around on the ground or winding up fake trees. On the other side of the corridor were enclosures with iguanas, and geckoes and other lizards large and small. Some interested in the late night visitors and others not carign so much.
Down at the far end was a member of the zoo staff with some sort of snake around his neck and a small frilled lizard in his hands. It looked like things wouldn't be totally hands off for the most daring of kids.

Sammi pressed her face against the glass, looking at a red, black, and yellow corn snake. She liked the colors, they reminded her of fire. "Pretty..." She had never thought lizards and snakes could be pretty, it was one of the things creepy things weren't.
Reiya had caught sight of the zookeeper and put on her brightest smile, an imitation of Samantha's. She made her way over to him. She looked at the lizard for a long moment, before stretching out her hand to pet it. She wanted to see what lizards really felt like.
Thali looked to Blaice and decided to introduce herself. It seemed they'd be viewing the animals together anyway, so why not make a friend? "I'm sorry, I never caught your name," she said with a smile, "I'm Thali," she looked to Iggy and gave another smile. "Your son is darling." It was always a good idea to compliment another's child when attempting to make friends.

"Very pretty" Iggy agreed "they have shiny skin." His skin glowed but it most certainly did not shine like that and Iggy wasn't quite sure which he'd rather have.
The seraph nodded and smiled "Pleasure to meet you I'm Blaice and your little ones are equally charming." Her icy blue eyes spotted the one at the far end of the exhibit "And clearly quite curious".
The zookeeper just smiled down at the girl " Please remember not to touch your eyes or lips after you're done petting him okay." While the child would now be learning that most lizards were not in fact slimy there was still always the risk of salmonella poisoning.

"You shiny too," Sammi observed, looking to Iggy with a smile. She didn't know the difference between "shiny" and "glowy" yet. The boy wasn't as pretty as the snake was, though. Maybe if he had been orange and yellow. She moved to the next window. "Ew," she said with distaste. She was looking at a salamander.
Thali nodded her agreement, before realizing the seraph was hinting at something. She turned to see Reiya at the zookeeper's side. "And they told me they didn't like lizards," she muttered with a grin. Keeping one eye on either twin, she added, "Your son seems to have charmed them both." Of course, she didn't mean it literally.
"Kay," Reiya said, nodding. Why would she want to touch her face after touching something that might possibly be slimey? She reached out a hand to pet it, and stroked the lizard. It wasn't slimey at all! It was soft--though not in the way kitties were soft. "Ooooh."

Iggy shifted so he could get a better look at the creature that had grossed out the girl. " I think that one's slimy" It's skin looked slick like his did when he'd just come from a bath. On the other hand he linked it's beady little eyes, overall Iggy was unsure if he liked the salamander or not.
Blaice gave a soft snort "If I had a nickle for ever time I told my parents I didn't like something before trying it I'd be rich." The feathers on her wings ruffled a bit at at that. " I think all young children are naturally drawn to each other so they may form mobs and overwhelm adults."
The zookeeper smiled "And now you see why sometimes bad people hunt them to make stuff out of their skin." Educational and a bit of preservation speech as well.

"I no like slimy," Sammi told Iggy with a frown. Ick. Slimy was gross! "We go see next lizard," she said, pointing to the next nearest window. She made her way towards it. "Oooh." There was a boa constrictor behind the glass. "Oooh. Big big snake," she looked towards her mother. "Bigger than Mommy," she decided.
Thali nodded at Blaice. "Same here," she agreed. "Perhaps--but I don't think I've ever seen Sammi and Reiya attach themselves so quickly."
Reiya was horrified. Someone hunted lizards for their skin? "Tha' bad," she said with a frown, petting the lizard again. "Bad. I protect you, lizard."

Iggy followed Sammi a bit annoyed that he wasn't the leader but his annoyance soon faded upon sight of the snake. " Maybe it ate someone's mommy?" After all his own told him that you hate to eat a lot to grow up big and strong so the snake must have eaten something huge like a grown up to get that big. Not that Iggy minded the thought of a snake eating a mother so long as it wasn't his own. Provided it didn't touch his own family Iggy was not bothered by death.
The zookeeper laughed and gave a smile to Reiya. " The best way you can protect them is to not buy things made from their skin." Of course the man knew young children tended to think they could simply save things becuase they thought they could. It was unfortunate there wasn't an army of children out there looking out for the under appreciated animals of the world.
