It had been the final straw. Zyanya had gone home the night after she saw Vale and had been treated to a silent household. Oh, there was the sound of her mother humming to Daniel and the sound of blocks against blocks as Cecilia played on the floor - there was even the hum of a tractor outside as her father worked. But nobody was speaking to her. It happened like that for three days.
Since she had returned home from Atl and meeting her Goddess face to face for the first time, Zyanya's family had not been the same. Sure it had only been a few days, a week at most, since her spurt but there was only so much she could take. She'd been worried about her mother's condition (considering she knew nothing of what it was, just that it would take her life) and her own position within the game - but the silence toward her made her wonder if it was worth all that worry.
So, picking up Yectli and a small bag of things, she'd announced to her family that she was leaving and had promptly turned on her heel and went out the door. Of course Zyanya had absolutely no idea how long she would be gone - but there was something thrilling about this small act of rebellion.
Zyanya had made her way to the place in Downers where Vale had taken her. She didn't know if the older player would be upset, but she did need a place to sleep for at least one night and she was planning on doing just that. If he showed signs of being displeased, Zyanya would find a way to replace anything that she ate from it - that was just how she was.
"Hello?" She called softly - just in case someone was there. It would be rude as hell just to barge in.

Writ was rather confused.
On one hand, Vale's killed at least one player he knew. No, killed him, took out his heart, and ate it. That wasn't just murder, it was mutilation. On the other hand, he offered up Writ and other newbies a safe haven. Was this something Vale did to atone for what he did? If that was the case, why the hell did he kill Seth in the first place? An accident maybe? Couldn't be. The whole cannibalism thing completely killed that theory.
Still, Writ wasn't thinking about it too much. He was still on Vale's good side, and he wasn't complaining. If Vale had some enthusiasm, there was another dimension of havoc they could wreck. Writ wasn't neccesarily a supporter of murder (His god was considered a creator, after all.) but considering the Blacksuits have already killed their share of people, it was about time they took some payback.
He slid his duffel bag of fireworks on a shelf and crashed on the couch for a while. It was a nice place. Ablit a little smelly. Vale hadn't gotten around in completely eliminating the cigarette smell, which annoyed Writ, the scent had reminded him of Ciro.
His ears pricked up when he heard a familiar voice.
"Come in!" Writ called out. He was too lazy to get up.

Heeeey, Zyanya knew that voice! The blue-sheened head peeked inside and a smile touched her lips when she saw him, "Hey." In she went, tugging her small bag up from the floor and hugging it to her chest, "I didn't think anyone would be here, least of all you." Now she was wondering if she should turn and leave. She didn't want to intrude on anyone's space and if someone was already staying there...Even if it was Writ.
Eyes cast toward the door as she thought about it, not really making a move further in or out, however. Yectli looked mildly displeased - she didn't like this person.
"Misssstresss he tassstesss of dog." The disgust in her voice was unmistakable.
"You haven't tasted him!"
"Hisss ssscent tassstesss of dog."

"Hey." Writ turned his head around to see Zyanya at the doorway.
Vale's been getting the word out. Writ mused. He waved Zy in, "Come in come in, I ain't doing much." Like that wasn't apparent already, sprawled out on the couch. Why didn't Vale just put the ugly one in here and move this one into his house. It was a lot more comfortable, and well, he was the one who set this whole place up, so he had dibs on the furniture. Oh well, probably better for the newbies to have this one though, leaving that wicker monster in it's place would make Vale seem like some sort of sadist.
Writ shifted upright and pat one of the dusty couch cushions, inviting Zy to take a seat, "Taste what now?"

Zyanya closed the door behind her and made her way toward the couch, sitting herself down where the other had indicated she s**t. The coral snake wrapped around her wrist gave a low hissing noise as she eyed the coyote boy - though she didn't strike or attack.
"She says you taste like dog." Zyanya translated graciously, reaching a finger to carefully stroke it down the snake's head. "And is generally complaining about having to be in the same room as you."
The girl carefully unwrapped Yectli from her wrist and set her on the ground, "Hunt, then. So long as you're not hunting Writ. You are NOT allowed to bite Writ."
"You are no fun, missstresss." Yectli complained again before slithering off in an attempt to find some kind of lizard to nom on.

Writ didn't blame her, his kind had the tendency to think of snakes as delicious treats. He couldn't say he hadn't had his share. They were like gummi worms, just meatier. And tastier.
Writ laughed, "I can't say I get that a lot." He leaned back on the couch, "You should tell your snake that she's not going to find much, Vale is the one who cleaned this place up after all." There was a sudden image flash of the cat boy on the front porch and a couple of dead mice. Complete with a proud look on his face and a "meow" in his mouth. Writ snickered.
"Guess you've seen the ol' cat around then, huh?"
Nuka was prowling around the alleyways. Writ told him to stay around and watch out for "Trouble" and so far, other than the mice scuttling around in the trash cans, there wasn't anything of interest for Nuka to go back to his brother for. His ears pricked up when he heard a slight rustle come out of the door. The coyote ran over and sniffed around through the trash. A mouse maybe? It seemed like a good place for them, but sadly, there weren't many to be found. From the scent of the place, a cat had been around earlier. He slammed a paw down on whatever was there. Nuka looked down. A snake! It had been a while since he had some real food...

"She can understand you," Zyanya said with a soft laugh, "You just can't understand her. She doesn't usually like mice - prefers birds or lizards, actually. Or other snakes. She hasn't been able to have those, though." Zy adored snakes and while that was a little odd, she didn't much care.
"Si. I met him when I was younger. He gave me the necklace I'm wearing." she indicated to the serpent wrapped around a piece of jade and smiled, "Very nice young man." And someone who gave her pretty jewelry would always have a place in her heart. She was a woman, after all. Jewels were awesome.
"Will you be staying here for long...?" Because Zyanya planned to. For however long it took her to feel ready to go back to silence.
Yectli was on a search for a lizard - though unfortunately the place seemed to be lacking in even those. She'd settle for a frog! And then...a paw came to slam down on her and startled her. The smell of dog was overwhelming - and this was definitely not the "Writ" person she wasn't supposed to bite. Small mouth opened and latched instantly onto the leg of her attacker, jaw working back and forth in an attempt to work her venom into it.
Die dog!
...Now the chances of her actually downing and killing the coyote was slim, but certainly if her venom had a chance to work it would paralyze it and cause pain!

"I could see Vale at a front porch with a dead frog or something, you know, like real cats." Writ laughed, "I swear, that guy's going to find his end with a catnip bag."
Writ had no idea.
He glanced at the necklace, there was a sense of competition rising in him- Which was quickly extinguished by Zyanya's explanation. Probably a good thing, if Vale was trying to woo Zy, it'd be the start of some sort of harem, and Writ had already thought of his friend as a rather amoral man.
He already murdered someone, seducing teenage girls would be the next logical step! It was a sarcastic thought, but one that he kept in mind.
"Yeah, he's got a thing for girls." Writ shrugged, "Though from what I hear, he's already got someone special."
Writ waved his hands at the thought of him staying here, "Nah, I just wanted to check the place out, have someplace to put my stuff."
Nuka whined as the snake bit him. His leg seized up as it started to numb. With a free paw, he slammed down on the snake again, and picked it up with his mouth. With a swift bite, he took hold of the reptilian rival and shook it around violently in his mouth, eventually dislodging the snake from his leg and leaving it dangling loose in his mouth. Nuka was about to finish the intruder off with one satisfying chomp when the venom caught up with his legs, leaving him on the ground with a snake still stuck in his jaws. He growled. It looked like this battle was a draw.

"I don't know him well enough to say," Though the visual left her to giggle a bit, leaning against the back of the couch. A sense of ease washed over her and she offered him a wry smile, "Not looking for him to be someone special. As I said, I don't know him very well."
Though a part of her wondered if Rafael would be jealous or not.
Nonetheless, she was about to open her mouth and respond to his last sentence when a horrible SCREAM filled her mind and she winced, closing her eyes and clutching at her head. "Mierda! Yectli!" And she was off, just like that, hurdling over the couch (and nearly tripping) to get to where the pained noise was coming from.
And it was PAINED. Yectli was not a big snake and big dog jaws with sharp teeth? Yeah, those hurt. Shaking didn't help, being knocked around and they punctured her skin very easily. Had she been any other creature the force would have broken her spine - but thankfully, she had none of that to speak of. The pain just blossomed through her. And then her world went black - but at least she'd pumped him full of her poison...And she'd definitely had long enough to have some very scary affects for the creature. At least if she died, her enemy had damage inflicted upon it.
"Writ!" She cried out, not wanting to go near the dog who had her best friend in his mouth - but tears were already in her eyes and it could be heard in her voice. Yectli was limp. She could not feel the poor snake. She didn't know if it was dead.

Writ felt something in the back of his mind too-- it was more of a sick groan than a scream, but it was definitely not a pleasant sound. He got off of the couch and ran after Nuka. Something must've happened. Writ pushed open the door and saw his brother on the ground with Zy's snake in his mouth.
Well, this was awkward.
Writ grimaced, the whole situation looked terrible.
"It's alright! It's alright!" He tried to reassure Zyanya, "I just had Nuka look around the place, he must've thought she was food!" He approched the coyote and told him, "Nuka, let go of her snake."
"No." Nuka replied, "I hunted it, so it's mine! Go get your own snake brother."
Writ frowned, nope, definitely not good.
"Come on, let go, and maybe we can get that poison out of you. You're on the ground for a reason, aren't you?"
Nuka whined, as much as he hated to admit it, it was true. It was soon made obvious when the contents of his stomach exploded out of his mouth and onto the pavement, carrying his prey with it. He looked up helplessly at Writ. Puppy eyes weren't as effective as they were when Nuka was a pup, but he still was able to get a little sympathy from his brother from time to time.
Writ wanted to kick this guy,"Fine, fine! I'll take you to the vet, but this'll teach you to mess with my friend's friends!" He picked up the dog by the scruff of his neck and started walking down the street. Thankfully for the two animals, the vet was just a couple of blocks away.
"Come on." Writ wiped the vomit off the snake and picked up Yectil with his free hand. He gingerly handed it to Zyanya, saying, "I think these two are due for the vet." He scooped Zy up, "They'll be fine, they just played a bit rough is all."

...This was Writ's? That didn't much help matters, really. It still didn't fix the fact that her snake was in its mouth. And by all appearances, she was dead. And that was enough to break the poor girl's heart. At least until the dog vomited her snake out of its mouth...Her stomach rolled. That was...disgusting. But nothing she couldn't handle. Dealing with younger siblings one tended to be able to look past bodily functions.
Still. Dog vomit. Not pleasant.
"No money, Writ." Zyanya reminded him, taking the limp snake and cradling her to her chest - not caring if there was any remnants of vomit on her smooth scales. "No money...It's late...Are they even open? I will kill your dog if Yectli is dead." She was serious, too. Though it'd be hilarious if her first kill within The Game was a DOG.

"I think you might be doing him a favor if you did that." Writ laughed. It was a joke on Nuka's expense, but brothers were always pulling off that sort of thing with one another. Also, he didn't think Zyanya was serious. Writ walked down the darkening streets. She did have a point about it being late. But there was one vet that was always open- assuming one had the right form of payment.
"I know a guy."
There was a detour before actually reaching Writ's acquaintance, one of those 24/7 convenience stores spread around Downers, offering services ranging from check-cashing to under-the-counter wares. You could find anything in this part of Downers, assuming that you knew where to look. Writ paced down the aisles of various snack foods and made it to the buzzing fridge doors in the back. He dropped Nuka for a moment to pick up a bottle of cheap liquor. The dog moaned.
"Yeah yeah, we'll get to him, just don't die." Writ mumbled to Nuka. He took the bottle in his mouth and pulled his brother along.

Zyanya was not amused and did not laugh. She was dead serious - if her friend was in the realm of the deceased, Writ's would soon be joining her where they could fight as much as they wanted without consequence. Because really? Zyanya was seething beneath her heartbreak. It only showed in her eyes.
"You know a guy. Okay then." A string of spanish curses were uttered as she stroked the snake's head, following along behind him a few paces. Every so often she cast a glance to the coyote - If looks could kill...They'd be too late for a vet.
"...Your guy takes BOOZE?" Wonderful doctor it had to be. The tone of voice clearly displayed her thoughts on the matter.

"No money." Writ shrugged, "Too late." He swiped a stolen credit card from his wallet and signed for it, "I don't think either of us has any experience treating these guys either."
Dammit Nuka, why'd you have to go do that! Writ thought to himself. He thought he might had have a chance with Zy too. With the circumstances now though... He was hoping that they'd still be friends after this fiasco. As for Zy's disapproval of the supposed "Vet" well, Writ knew where he was going, and he knew what he was doing. Besides, would an actual vet even look at a poisonous snake and a wild coyote? They weren't exactly housepets.
So they continued onward, until they reached one of Downer's many dank alleyways. A man was slumped down upon the crumbling walls. The right sleeve of his patchwork coat was flat, a dirty eye patch on his left eye. An old fedora was perched on his head, with a crumpled newspaper on top. A bird rested in the makeshift nest, one of it's wings wrapped around with dirty cloth. With the bushy beard on his face, the man looked like a pirate. Or Hagrid. Or both. He certainly snored like a giant.
"Hey Steve." Writ prodded the man with the bottle, "Hey!"
Steve snorted out of his slumber with a "Whassat?" He looked up to see a friend, his eyes lightened in realization, "Well, if it ain't the coyote of the city himself. What is it this time, another bullet wound?"
Writ felt his shoulder for a moment, then went on to say, "This isn't for me. I got a couple friends here that could use your expertise." He dragged Nuka up as soon as the coyote decided to vomit again. Writ motioned to Zyanya's snake.
"The two of them got in a bit of a fight, and I think me and my friend here would both like it if they didn't die." Writ explained.
Steve twisted open the new bottle of liquor and took a swig. He looked at Zyanya, "Coral snake. Hmn." He stared at the snake for a moment before saying, "Where'd a nice girl like you get such a dangerous snake like that?"

At least he wasn't stealing the booze. But he was right. Neither of them had any idea how to treat their respective companions. She hated when other people had points that she couldn't refute. Made her look like she was slacking off in her brains department.
Unfortunately, Zy's experience with Downers was...Well, limited, and she was uncomfortable. Had she not been so angry and worried she likely would have scrunched up close to Writ or something...but at the moment if she got any closer to that mutt she was going to kick his head in or something.
When they stopped to the sleeping giant of a man - definitely a hell of a lot larger than Zyanya (not that it was hard to be taller than Zyanya) she bit her lip and clutched the snake slightly closer to her chest.
"Maybe I'm not that nice." Zyanya said guardedly, giving him a look that purely said she did not trust him. And she didn't. Zyanya didn't trust anyone too easily, really, and the only reason she wasn't heading back toward her home now was the fact that Yectli needed help and she, as much as she hated to admit it, trusted Writ. So if he said he was okay, or whatever, she'd...tolerate it.
However, a look was given to Writ that purely said 'Expertise? Wut?' and she still looked unamused.
