Sophia sat patiently at her house table; pondering what new faces would join in along her own pale visage. She also hoped the headmistress wouldn't notice the slight gleam of freshly glued studs across the top of her shoes.

((Since I'm HEADMISTRESS! I'm allowed to go to different tables! Thats just how cool I am))
I sat down at the long, lonely, miserable staff table. After a couple of minutes sniffling in self pity. When a certain shiny object caught my eye. I grinned to myself, and rose majestically out of my seat. All eyes were on me when I walked "Snape style" to the Hufflepuff table.
"Excuse me? What is THAT on your shoes?" I said with mock strictness.

Sophia looked up very slowly to meet the eyes of the headmisstress; for she knew here at Hogwarts her word was law. Slowly she cleared her throat, praying to whatever gods might be listening, that headmisstress hadn't noticed her newest addition to her school uniform. Then with a lopsided toothy grin, Sophia replied, "Why Headmistress, whatever do mean?"

"Omigawd! That is soooo cool!" The headmistress squealed. "Where did you buy those? I shouldn't, but... five points to Hufflepuff for promoting creativity! And since the rest of the professors have Swan flu, no one can stop me! I AM ALL POWERFUL!"

Sophia broke into a full on cheshire catlike grin; which probably made most first years wish they were back on the train. "Thanks Headmistress!!!They are pretty bangin', aren't they? Oh, I got them at this new store that just opened up in Diagon Alley. It's rather close to Knockturn Alley though." Knockturn Alley, Sophia thought, that place is gross even to me...and I'm an oddity on my best days.

Meanwhile, outside the Great Hall, Alice Prince twisted and turned on the sidelines of the Quidditch field. She groaned as her wand fell from her nose once again. Sighing, she picked it up and delecately placed it on the tip of her nose for the 17th time. She spun around, looking as though the wand was dragging her along in circles. Her green eyes blurred in an attempt to keep her eyes glued to her wand. With a sudden tumble, the wand fell from her nose once more. Alice jumped up and down, beaming with pride! "35 seconds!" she cried with great jubilance. Then bending over, she plucked the wand out of the grass and attempted the feat again.

Alice jolted, dropping her wand on the wet grass. She looked up at her headmistress with a look of shock. Almost as soon as it came, the shocked look turned into a toothy grin. "Good morning!" Alice cried in her loud voice. She gripped the headmistress' am and pumped it up and down. "Hai!!!" she said. She then looked beyond her headmistress into the eyes of a girl in the distance. Alice was puzzled for a moment, but she soon recognized the familiar face. "Gasp! Sophie!" she cried, running to embrace her friend. Her wand still lay in the grass unnoticed as she visited with her best friend.

"Alice!" Sophia squeeled. "How was your summer break?" Sophia managed to rattle out, as she was dealing with the glomp of the century.Sophia could only ponder as to what this reunion might look like to outside eyes. Namely the wondering eyes of the first years, and the headmistress."Alice, Alice...can't breathe...Your wand!!" Sophia could only hope her friend had heard her gasping words.

"Oh happy reunions! I love 'em!" Luna said brushing a fake tear off her check. Then she noticed the large crowd of First Years glancing at them with curious looks.
"What are you looking at! Go away before I shove your brand new wands up somewhere they don't belong!" Luna giggled as she watched the firsties scamper away.
