Me too! But first I'll try for the drum corps. If I can't do that then I'll be in my college marching band.

idk, i'm not really sure if i would like it. No competitions sounds like no fun. The competitions are my favorite things about marching band.

I probably do it too. Our highschool doesn't even do competitions, so I don't even know what i'm missing.

I never did field shows in high school, only parades, so I don't know how the experiences compare, but college band is soooo much fun. It's by far my favorite part of college.
It's not like it's easy because there's no competitions, either.

I loved marching band in high school.
I'd really like to march again! But I don't know what college marching band is like... Plus I'd have to learn saxophone or bass clarinet. (if bass clarinets even march where I'm going.)

College marching band is amazing. It's very similar to high school marching band except that every other person there has the same love and passion for it that you do. Everyone is lifting each other up and trying to create a better show. The energy and emotion that you feel while performing with a band like that in a college football stadium filled with screaming fans is something that's hard to describe. You may miss the competitions but you need to at least try it for one year. I know that it has become my favorite part of college.

Well, I'm in it, does that count? I love college band. I don't have a problem with the lack of competitions - really, you get enough to worry about. The standards for a college band are still pretty high. As most people have marched before, there is very little time spent learning basics. Any commands you don't need (like slow turns, dresses, faces) are taken out. College bands play for the football games or for high school students. It is our goal to keep the interest of the half-drunk crowds and when playing for high schoolers, to recruit as many people as possible to our university. Really, college band is a lot of fun. I'd recomend trying it, particularly if you call yourself a band nerd.

yeah if i don't get into UCLA then i will go to be in the "carolina Crown" (hopefully) but if i go to UCLA i won't be able to play baritone i think. cuz i watched their show last week and all they had in low brass was trombones and tubas. -_- i was planning on learning tuba in concert band next year but idk.
