With how excited the split-spawn was, you'd think think that she'd won the lottery or something. But no, to her, it was much better than that. Their local art center had the honor of hosting an exhibit on "Les Fauves"; the revolutionary painters who loved color. Matisse, Derain, de Vlaminck, and many others graced the walls with their bold, colorful paintings.
'Zuba couldn't have been happier; she got to see actual artwork, upclose and in real life. A print was fine an all, but it was another thing to see the paintings in person. The girl gave a little giggle, inspecting "Les toits de Collioure" by Henri Matisse. Such bold use of colors and strokes! She envied Matisse for his skill and his colors.

Cody sighed softly as his mother wandered along, looking at all the different paintings full of color. He was rather tired of being dragged along to everything his mother went to, or wherever she wanted to get him out of the house for a bit. He wouldn't complain though, since none of the places were unbearable or terribly boring.
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a being that wasn't quite human. As the child turned to look, he couldn't help, BUT notice how she seemed to be split in half with one being rather normal looking and the other... well, not so much. Then there was that golden ear-wing he had seen a couple times before. Vinny had two, so could the two be related somehow on their angelic side?

'Zuba felt the odd feeling that she was being watched. She glanced around the crowd, golden-green eyes falling on a boy with wings, who seemed to be looking at her as well. Awkward....
She looked back to the painting, convincing herself that the boy had to be looking at someone else. He had to be, right?
"Rather colorful, isn't it?" she said out loud, talking to the boy even if her gaze was on the painting and even if there was a chance he wouldn't hear her. She glance back at him, silently eyeing his wings. Some people had all the luck....

Cody blinked as he was caught staring and immediately looked away for a moment, embarrassed about the whole thing. He hadn't meant to stare, she was just far different looking than most of the spawn he had come across. Although, being split down the middle looked rather cool to him as well. As she spoke aloud, most likely to him since she had caught him staring, the child edged closer to look at the painting.
"Yeah, they all are. Different than most pictures I've seen outside of this place," Cody replied, smiling softly. He vaguely wondered how much she knew about the art exhibit or the artists who had drawn the pictures, since she had seemingly came by herself.

Zuba nodded, smiling lightly. She pointed to a rather bright and colorful rendition of a river-side village that hung on the display nearby. "Les toits de Collioure." she said softly, hoping to soften the blow she knew she must have inflicted by butchering the language. "My favorite. By Matisse."
She turned her attention away from the technicolor canvas, her gaze falling on the younger boy. "Have a favorite?" she asked, sounding genuinely curious. She felt a twinge of guilt; she'd spoke of herself first before asking him. How positively dreadful of herself!

Cody frowned for a moment before glancing around the gallery briefly. Did he have a favorite out of the few he had seen? "No, but they are all pretty. I like that one too... The..." the child trailed off, motioning to the picture Zuba had mentioned to be her favorite. If he had tried to pronounce it, he probably would have butchered it beyond recognition and angered the soft-spoken girl.
"There's so many here, why is that one your favorite?" he asked, curiously.

'Zuba smiled. "'S more realistic, but colorful. Like a dream....surrealism, I think." she said, looking from the boy to the painting and back again. "Wish I could live there." This was a vain wish. For one, it was just a painting. Besides, even if it was a real place, she doubted she was good enough to live there.
She then held a hand out to the boy, the gesture a bit awkward and unfamiliar to her. "Name's 'Zuba. And you?" she said, introducing herself.

Cody nodded, understanding what she meant and how perfect it looked; so perfect it was almost fantasy-like. "My name's Cody. Nice to meet you, Zuba," he replied, smile growing a bit. She seemed to be really nice, despite how soft-spoken she was.
As the older spawn held out her hand with an awkward sort of look to it, the child frowned slightly and took it, shaking it slightly. He had seen people do the same thing in movies, but hadn't exactly figured out why people did it nor had really been asked to do the same.
"You have a pretty head-wing. Humility?" he asked, admiring the golden feathered wing with slight awe. He had seen similar feathers before, but they were still beautiful. They were close to the same color as molten gold, but lacked the same shine and sort of aura that true gold possessed.

'Zuba smiled, nodding. "'S nice to meet." she concurred, giving his hand a shake before letting it fall limply to her side. To be honest, she didn't see the point of the gesture, either, but Mother said it was polite. And polite was the right way to go, right?
The split spawn nodded. "Part Humilty....not pretty." she said, shrugging her shoulders. She didn't sound sorrowful or remorseful; she'd come to accept this face. She was not, and would never be, pretty. Maybe that's why she liked art so much; it held the beauty that she herself couldn't fathom having.

Cody merely shrugged, used to the kids that had Humility as one of their DNA parents to constantly deny his compliments. "Matter of opinion. You don't think you are, but I do," he replied with a soft smile. His mom had used the same tactics on him before, but more with objects and food than personal traits.
"Want to go look around together?" he offered, rather liking the idea of having someone who knew a bit about art to show him around. Shadai knew a little, yes, but she didn't seem as specific as to why she liked something unlike Zuba, who gave a bit of insight on the artwork as well.

Zuba shrugged; if the boy wanted to think that, she'd let him. She seemed used to the argument and, to be honest, was tired of trying to argue with people. Couldn't they see her lack of beauty? She was tired of trying to see herself the way they did, coming to accept the fact that she didn't understand it.
The raven-haired spawn smiled lightly, nodding. "Yes....would be fun." she said, motioning for him to lead the way. After all, she'd seen these all already, and she had no idea what paintings Cody had and hadn't seen. So, it was only fair to let him lead, right?

Cody grinned and glanced around the exhibit, looking for a spot he hadn't been to before. "Uhm... this way," he said, pointing and heading off at the same time. The pictures were similar to the one Zuba had claimed to be her favorite.
"Ooh..." the spawn muttered once he got there, smiling softly at all the beautiful colors the different arts had used. Definitely better than plain, old, black and white pictures he usually saw.

"Beautiful..." The word, barely above a whisper, came from the girl as she examined the paintings. She wished she could have these hanging around her room instead of the cheap prints. Prints didn't do the painting itself justice.
"Wish I could paint like that." she murmured, more to herself than to anyone else. "They look like kaleidoscope scenes, don't they?" she asked, glancing at her fellow spawn.

Cody smiled at how entranced Zuba was by the paintings. "Yeah, they do. Maybe if you practice a lot you could pain' like that too," he offered, knowing full well the humility spawn would deny ever being able to do such a thing.
"Ooh, I like tha' one," he added, pointing to one that was created using cooler tones such as blue, green, and purple. The child never was a fan of warmer, brighter colors. They hurt his eyes and were just downright annoying.
