It was the sound of the front door's bell ringing that would announce to Aliikki that she had company, and the sound of very heavy footsteps would likely betray just who they belonged to. Zero, as she had come to be in the last few years, was rather flickle - the life zurui rarely ever saw the same look twice, but the scars, tattoos and, more importantly, heavy metal footsteps that in no way sounded like they belonged to the slender form of the cyborg was what gave her away. This month, it was apparently blue bangs with the rest dyed black, cut very short and spiky, wearing her usual blue bikini top under a leather jacket and army pants.
A black and rainbow colored form followed the woman inside the shop, Iris scretching herself before padding over to a pillow set in front of the shop window to lay down. Zero often joked that she was the perfect eye-catcher and that perhaps, many kits had found loving homes because she had been sitting right at that window, grooming her many prism-colored tails.

Aliikki looked up from where she sat near a window and smiled, stretching and shifting to her humanoid form to pad closer. "Hello Iris," she greeted the zurui first, bowing just a little before turning to Zero herself. "And hello to you, as well. You have good timing," she noted, moving to scoop up one of the kits as it knocked against her legs, and twisting to set it loose nearer to one of Iris's vibrant tails. Immediately, the kit prepared to pounce, it's hind end wriggling before it leapt as far as it could. "Mireille just called to let me know she was bringing someone over to visit."

"Really ?" To be honest, Zero had no idea what this had to do with her at all, but she figured she would get an answer to that one sooner than later.
"Good afternoon, Aliikki." Iris answered, before lifting one tail up in the air, leaving the others down to provide with fluffy cushioning. "Careful, I pounce back." She warmed candidly, but that did not seem to bother the kit in the least, if the weight against her tails was to be of any indication.

Aliikki nodded, chuckling. "I'm sure she'll be happy to see you," she said, even as the sound of a car arriving in back alerted her to the fact that Mireille was there. Looking over at Iris, she nodded to the zurui as well. "It's good for them to learn that some creatures pounce back."
"...nd this is the shop I was telling you about," Mireille was saying, as she guided a golden-haired man into the shop behind her. He towered over her, his skin a deep blue flecked with what looked like starlight, and clear blue eyes roving slowly over the decor to take in everything. "It's not a big place, but it's... Zero! How've you been?" Mireille said, breaking off mid-sentence to move to her friend.
Hoshi blinked at the shift in conversation, one hand moving to rest against the counter as he looked at Zero curiously. A friend obviously. And... a customer, perhaps, if the two zurui beside her were any indication. "Hello."

"Hey Mir, im go-" Perhaps, if she hadn't turned around, she would have been able to finish that sentence. But as it, whatever she had been about to speak about never came out of her mouth.
The form beside her friend was unmistakable, even with how long it had been since she had last seen it in the flesh. She had changed dramaticly since then, but he... he had not.
Not one bit.
Zero rather accurately looked like she had just seen a ghost. "H-...Hoshi ?"
"Well... Something interesting this way comes." Iris seemed rather interested in the scene that was unfolding in front of her, apparently having forgotten the kit who was batting playfully at her outstretched tail.

At his name, Hoshi's head tilted a bit, his eyes narrowing. The woman before him did feel a... LITTLE familiar, rather like a dream already nearly forgotten. "Have we met?" he offered, moving a little closer. He hoped it was the right thing to say, given the circumstances. It had to be better than admitting he had no idea who she was... he hoped.
Mireille blinked, glancing back and forth between the two before turning to Zero as well. "Hoshi's staying with me for a while," she volunteered. "Sailien dragged him in just last night." She looked at Aliikki in hopes that the life zurui might have some idea of just what to say that could make things a little less awkward, but Aliikki just shrugged, shrinking down into her animal form to watch silently.

"I... I used to babysit you when you were little, remember ? I lived right beside your house... And... Oh, god." She trailed off. "It's... okay if you don't remember me, it's been a long time and I changed alot and..." Im your son's guardian. Did you know you had a son ? was what the wanted to say, but it got lost somewhere in between her mind and those blue-tinted lips.
Her attention turned back to Mireille then. "I... I see..." After how much Shina had searched for him. After how much Sei had looked for him. After even she had looked everywhere she could think of...
Well, that was life for you.
"Are you allright ?" She asked Hoshi, looking him over. "You've been gone a long time... We... looked everywhere we could think of for you..."

As she spoke, Hoshi's eyes widened, then narrowed, and he took a step closer. The another, and another, until he all but loomed over her. However, instead of a glare, his eyes all-but-pleaded with her. "Then... you might know," he said softly, ignoring the offered memories he no longer had. He made no move to touch her, but as he loomed, Mireille tensed up, reaching one hand in a half-aborted gesture to stop him. "I have a child I've never met," he said softly, then paused, brow furrowing as he frowned. "At least... I don't remember meeting..." it? her? him? "the child before. Do you know where I might look?" The last words were so very soft and hopeful.
After a few moments, Mireille's hand slowly dropped to her side. She'd brought him here hoping for a bit of distraction from his current plight... but this may just end up so much better. Or... worse, she had to allow, as her own ages-old grief reminded her that not all meetings ended in happy reunions.

"...I know very well." Zero said, weighting her words carefully. The pleading look in his eyes was hard to ignore... as well as all the little signs that he did not remember. She did not move away when he came toward her, remained perfectly still. He may have forgotten him, but she had not forgotten him. Far from it, as he had hovered in her thoughts for the last few years. He would not hurt her, the cyborg knew. At the same time, however, it took some time for the blue and black haired woman to look up and meet his eyes truly with her two glowing ones, to weight the words in her mind carefully. Would he disapprove of Shina's choice ? And how would Sei...
...This was not a matter of the then and now.
"I know very well." She repeated. It was quite an effort to keep her voice from choking up with emotion, but some part of her, the fighter, remembered how to look calm and serene. "You have a son, almost a spitting image of his father. Shina named him Sei before she had to hand him over to me. Hoshi... I am his guardian."

Hoshi swayed, his body considering just flopping down for a moment, though it remained upright. His mind was elsewhere, repeating those words he'd just heard over and over. You have a son. He had a son. He knew, now. And this woman, who he'd just met, but who had known him for a long time indeed... she was his son's guardian. Perhaps Sailien's finding him the night before had been more than pure coincidence. Perhaps it had been providence.
"May I meet him?" he asked quietly, well-aware that as Sei's guardian, she had the right to block Hoshi from his life, if she deemed Hoshi a threat to his well-being. Shina had entrusted Sei to her care, and if Hoshi trusted nothing else, he trusted Shina's decision. So... deference, and acceptance if she said no.
...And his breath held as he prayed to whoever might be listening that she did NOT say no.

Zero did not answer right away, perhaps adding to Hoshi's uncertainity, though not for the reasons he might fear. In fact, she was wondering how she was supposed to put down the other bombshell of information she would need to drop before the two of them would meet. That his child... was not exactly a child, per se. Or... normal. Even by fa'e standard. Most likely her fault, of course.
"He... is at work right now, I think." There. Dropped. Not very elegantly, but the poor man looked like he would implode if she held herself any longer. "But... I can call his cellphone and have him come here once his shift is over ? I think he's only got half an hour left by now...""

At work? His son was... old enough to work?
"...How long have I been away?" he asked quietly, taking a step back. Mir reached out, laying one hand on his arm, and he blinked over at her before shifting his arm just a touch out of her reach. Taking the hint, she took a step back herself to give him the room he obviously needed.
If Sei was old enough to work... then he was old enough to make the decision himself. "Tell him why," he said softly, without actually waiting for Zero to answer his previous question. "Let him decide whether or not to come. I will... respect his decision, either way." Difficult, painful words, really, with the fear that his son might not want to have anything to do with him. But as much as it would ease his task, he wouldn't let Shina down, no matter what. He could watch over their son from afar, if necessary.

And that was another hard part. "...Four years, Hoshi." Four years. Time really did fly... "We looked everywhere we could... Shina, me... Even Sei when he was old enough..." It sounded almost like an apology. Almost like she had failed him somehow by being unable to find him after so long.
"Ill call." She said then, taking her phone from it's stap on her belt. and then promptly gave the device an irritated frown and a tap of a finger before having to step outside to get a signal. "Sorry, can't get a signal in here. Won't be long."
Technology could be so primitive in gaia...

"I'll... wait here," Hoshi said quietly, watching her go. He looked over at Mireille, but the woman had no more idea what to say than he did, and after a moment, they seemed to realize that, and let the silence remain silence.
Aliikki peered between the two, then looked over to see whether Iris had followed Zero out.

Iris had not followed her human outside, instead remaining on the pillow exactly where she had been, now having a small collection of kits happily snoozing off in her bundle of multi-colored tails, the very tips twitching slightly with a few little paws still trying to grasp at it from the depts of their dreams. Perhaps this was the best sign that Zero had not actually left.
The silence stretched on for a few more minutes before the bell of the door run once more, and the cyborg slid her way inside. "Got his voicemail. It... shouldn't be long."
