Do you ever think about running away 'cause I was thinkin' about leavin' today We'll follow forever where our hearts wanna go Maybe we'll live somewhere where nobody knows our names Then things might change for the good
I wanna be somewhere so far away To lie under the night at the end of another good day I can't tell you how long we'll be gone
Do you ever think about not comin' back Hoppin' on a train and we'll burn up the tracks We'll jump off somewhere that we don't know how to say Maybe hitch a ride from someone who can tell us the way To where these things might change for the good
Maybe, maybe we'll just see Where this road will lead for us
I've got my things packed My favorite pillow Got my sleeping bag Climb out the window All the pictures and pain I left behind All the freedom and fame I've gotta find And I wonder how long it'll take them to notice that I'm gone And I wonder how far it'll take me
To run away It don't make any sense to me Run away This life makes no sense to me
I was just trying to be myself You go your way I'll meet you in hell It's all these secrets that I shouldn't tell I've got to run away It's hypocritical of you Do as you say not as you do I'll never be your perfect girl I've got to run away
I'm too young to be taken seriously But I'm too old to believe all this hypocrisy And I wonder how long it'll take them to see my bed is made And I wonder if I was a mistake
I might have nowhere left to go But I know that I cannot go home These words are strapped inside my head Tell me to run before I'm dead Chase the rainbows in my mind And I will try to stay alive Maybe the world will know one day Why won't you help me run away -parts of Runaway, by 3 Doors Down and Runaway, by Pink

Runaways: There are millions of kids who have run away from home for various reasons. Some fall into gangs, some live normally, others go home eventually, some are killed in various crimes. But only a handful are taken in by Tia and Revy, sisters who run a very successful, business.
The sisters take runaways off the street and give them an home to share, food, and a job. A quick makeover and no one will know that they are actually those missing kids on the back of a milk carton in another state.
The teens live in an abandoned theater. Cliché, right? But it works. No one thinks to look inside, there are countless ways in and out, all carefully monitered of course, plenty of room, and all sorts of places to hide in the chance the police to come. And, of course, the building is owned by the sisters.
And, there is the small issue of the jobs. It is quite simple, really. The Sisters give the runaways a home and food, the runaways make money. The Sisters aren't particular about how they come about the money either. In fact, they have several groups that specialize in certain methods of aquiring money, with a leader in each group. Some go about it legally, performing in the streets or dumpster diving and selling what they find. Others aren't quite so moral. There are thieves, burglers, and some who decide selling themselves is the easiest.
So what will you do? Will you accept their offer of a chance at a new life, or will you keep living in a cardboard box?

Click picture for profiles. They shall be in another thread to keep this page short and tidy.
Also, the world is a bit different. There is electricity, but no guns or cars or modern transportation. There is modern music and equiptment. However, setting-wise, think of the Thief Lord or Oliver Twist or Sweeny Todd. That dark alleys, run down buildings, filthy streets time. There are nice areas, but you have to be filthy rich to live there. Mansions, estates, that kind of area. Dress is modern or older, no true dress code for sex, jeans work, but corsets and long skirts aren't out of style either. You get the point just have fun! As for the theatre and the group, think August Rush, but with less little kids and more older ones, and more thieves and less musicians. And the Sisters aren't quite as crazy as Wizard/Robin Williams. ^^

The sun creeped over the horizon, the soft light filtering through windows. Most the city was still. A handful of teens slunk through the alleys, two sliding lithely between two boards over an old theatre door. A bag was handed through, before the other followed after glancing around. The three made their way silently through the abandoned theatre, picking their way around sleeping bodies until they reached what had once been a dressing room. The bag was placed in the corner, and the door shut again.
The lights flickered to life, one by one flickering on to light the path of a woman making her way down the middle aisle, stilletos clicking and her skirt swirling around her legs. "Alright my dears, time to start working. The city will be busy soon." Tia called, her voice carrying throughout the theatre.
Nikki yawned, streaching her arms over her head. She looked down from where she lay, in the small balcony directly over the stage, right below the broken screen that had once provided subtitles for the operas performed in the other languages. "Aw, Tia! The sun's barely awake, we shouldn't be out yet. Not the ones who need the crowds." she called down, grinning.
Kiara woke up to voices calling to each other around the theatre, one belonging to Tia and the other to Nikki. She decided soon after that she didn't need to be awake, setting her head back down. Years ago someone had pulled down one of the side curtains on the stage, the ones that split up backstage area, and she'd taken it and made a bed from it. Many said it looked more line a nest or a dogbed than a bed for a person, but that didn't mean much to her. It was just like what she'd had when they were wtih the caravan. She pulled the thin blanket over her head, blocking out the light. The blanket was almost see-through, due to how thin and threadbare it was. But, that was also the only thing covering her body aside from the bra and underwear she was still wearing. What could she say, the vevet curtain got hot. And no matter what her brother said, she wasn't going to put more clothes on just to sleep in. It wasn't like she cared when the others saw her wear just this much, why would she?

Revy groaned, she too was on the more tired side of things, but at least she did get up and help her sister out with the turning on of lights. She headed down to one breaker and flipped everything on, the stage flooding with red, blue, white, and yellow lights. She yawned, a hand pressing to her temples since she was a bit on the more hungover side. "Oh shut the ******** up with the complaints. Maybe you'll catch the crowd going to work." She snapped, her voice echoing throughout the hall.
Trisha looked up from her guitar as the lights flooded on, having to brush her auburn hair back. She hadn't plugged the electric one in and so had been fiddling around until everyone woke up, putting it away in it's case. She hid it quickly before anyone could see since she never knew if someone might decide it was worth something in a pawn shop or some such. She then picked up her accoustic guitar and left without a word, heading out to her particular corner that she did play at, her skirt ruffling in the wind. She wore the same sort of outfit she always wore, just with different colors. A plaid skirt, thigh high stripped socks, tall boots, a tank top, and a scarf. It wasn't like she had limitless supply though. She did only have like, three outfits. She knew it was at least interesting to simply chill, and besides, if anyone was still drunk and looking for fun, she'd end up beating them over the head with something if they approached her.
Nathan startled awake, smacking his head on a beam of wood, which was immediately followed by a yelp and groan of pain. And well... a string of curses. After rubbing the spot a bit, he straightened up more carefully this time, removing the trench coat he had picked up and used as a blanket. True, he did actually have one. However, he wasn't sure where it had gone. He carefully climbed down from his platform up in the riggings of the stage, jumping down the last two rungs on the ladder, landing lightly on the ground. "Seriously Revy, why do I have to wake up? I don't have to go to work till like..... I dunno, not now." He called, still too groggy to realize that might not be the best idea since she was so unpredictable.
Mina gave a sort of whine and tugged her afghan over her head while curling up more in her corner that was padded by some scenery that must have been used for some kind of play. It was all nice and comfy now since it was made out of something like cardboard. She had a late shift the night before and so she was less than welcome to the idea of waking up now. It was, by far, too early for such things.
Mal raised an eyebrow, just stepping in the door as the lights started flooding on, shifting his bag on his shoulder as he went to one row of seats where his sister was curled up with a fleece coat covering her upper half. "Aye, parts of it are already busy." he muttered, deciding not to mention which, looking down to Rika before touching her shoulder and shaking a little. "Rika, it's time to get up." He murmured gently, brushing some of her hair from her face.
Rika kicked at the touch, which caused her to fall off of her "bed" and hit the floor rather hard. Not to mention the seats in front of her as well. "Ow!" She squeaked, pouting a bit before sitting up. She took her brothers offered hand and stood up, brushing off her skirt and butt, rubbing her eyes like a six year old might. "Were there any odd women last night big brother?" She asked softly, since he had close to the graveyard shift. And yet he never seemed tired. That always made her wonder how he could just keep awake. The writing was so draining! And yet acting was always more difficult than it, so how come she was exhausted? Shaking her head, she sat down in the chair, tugging the jacket around her shoulders with a shiver.

Nikki just grinned. "But they notice when we're out too early. But, you're right of course." she added quickly, noticing how annoyed Revy was. Rather than climbing down the ladder she simply jumped, catching herself on the ladder hidden by the curtain and sliding down. "Do we have food this morning, oh-wonderful-Sisters?" she asked sweetly.
"Because they said so. And you can sleep later." Kiara hadn't made a sound when she'd gotten up, and now she was standing beside her brother, tugging his hand to pull him back away from the edge of the stage. She didn't want him to fall into the pit, again.
"Kiara, darling, you might want to put something on..." Tia suggested, hiding a smile. She wasn't at all surprised to see that the girl was wearing nothing but a very cute, and very skimpy, lacy bra and a simple pair of black underwear.
"But then we'd miss out on such a lovely way to wake up." Trace objected, pulling his eyes away from Kiara's body just to say that, a smirk on his lips. He'd slept somewhere backstage, and now was leaning against the wall, trailing his eyes up and down Kiara again. If she went around wearing nothing, then she was asking for it, in his opinion.

Revy just sort of glared at Nikki at the question of food, pulling out her pack of cigarettes and lighting one up, taking a drag from it before leaning against a broken seat. "Do I look like a god damn kitchen Nikki?" Taking another long drag, she stared up at the ceiling, scratching the back of her head, her hair flowing loose down her back. "There might be something on the tables in the entrance. I can't remember." She muttered in a softer voice, honestly unable to recall such a thing. She was glad that Kiara had answered Nathan's question cuz otherwise she would of just punched him.
Nathan just sort of pouted, stumbling back since he hadn't been expecting the tug. He almost asked why, but then remembered where he had been standing, instead frowning. "Aw... Kiara-chan... come on, no need to be so rough with your big brother. What if I had fallen onto you?" He gave her cheek a little squeeze before letting his hand fall away, fully expecting some kind of retaliation. She always did when he was just showing affection. He then promptly pulled off his shirt and put it on her, seeming quite used to how she was generally. He then turned his attention to Trace, slipping from his sisters. "Trace, do I need to remind you of previous conversations we've had?" He asked with a bright smile, no threat in his voice, but it was obviously implied.
Mina poked her head up, her hair a mess, fixing it with her hand. The first thing she saw after that was how Trace was oggling Kiara. Again. Frowning, she threw a small rock at him that had been dragged in due to shoes or some other matter. If her aim was right, it would hit him in the head. "Knock it off Trace. If she had wanted you she would have said so by now." She called, pushing herself up albeit very forcedly since she was so exhausted. She adjusted her clothes a bit since her shirt had ridden up, brushing off her skirt.
Mal shook his head, smiling as he brushed some lint from his sisters face. "No, there were no strange women this time. And I made off rather well. Which reminds me. Get started on your writing, I won't be far." He told her, heading over to Tia with a small envelop in hand. He handed it to her, per norm since his job earned him so much. "I already took out my share, but the rest is yours." He told her, ignoring the rest of the happenings of the morning.
Rika just sort of nodded, getting up and heading over to a spot that was behind the curtains where stage crew would normally be pulling ropes and the like, a small desk set up in the cage. There was paper spread out everywhere, pens scattered, though most were in a cup. When she walked past everyone, she just sorta waved before vanishing into the cage where the soundboard was. Well, if it had still been there. Yawning, she did get to work, wishing that she had at least some coffee.
Revy's eyebrow twitched at the words being exchanged between Trace, Kiara, and Nathan, one cutlass getting drawn from it's holster and pointing it in their general direction. If she had to shoot near any of them, she could. Her aim was impeccable, even with a hangover. "Shut the ******** up all of you. If you are going to bicker, take it somewhere else." She snapped, lowering the gun as she took another drag from her cigarette.

Kiara shrugged. "Then I would've moved and watched you fall over." she said simply, stepping away when he tried to put his shirt on her. She pulled it on properly, not getting it all caught in her hair like he would have.
"Can't blame me if she insists on going around in just that much." Trace shrugged, appearing as though he wasn't at all concerned about the implied threats. He blinked when he was hit in the head with a rock, and shot a glare, about to snap something when Nikki interupted and cut him off.
"Trace, stop being an a**. Now come on, Tia and Revy were right, the crowds'll be out soon and we want to be there." Nikki interupted, making a point to stay well away from any of them, and where Revy would most likely be shooting.
Tia pocketed the envelope with a smile. "Thanks, dear. Tell Rika that this can cover her, too." she added, glancing to her sister and snatching the pistol from her hand. "Do you want a repeat of last time you lost your temper?" she asked dryly before redirecting her attention to Mal. "Was there anything else you needed?"

Nathan opened his mouth to speak, but thought better and instead fell quiet, glancing down towards the pit again. "I wouldn't have fallen." He shot back, his brown eyes coming to rest on Trace, ice and loathing definitely in them this time. "Oh, I can. Since I've given you-" He stopped because he saw Revy with her gun out, falling silent, climbing up to his bed to grab another shirt. Well, and to cool his head. It was tempting to let a bag of sand hit him besides the rock, thankful to Mina for that.
Mina stuck her tongue out at the glare, picking up her med bag right as she felt her beeper vibrate at her hip. Inwardly she cried a little bit, since she was exhausted, but she did head for the door, adding some lip stick while she was heading out the door so she looked a bit more presentable as opposed to exhausted.
Revy was not amused when Tia snatched her gun away, sneaking around and getting it back, sticking it back in it's holster. She turned her attention away from the brats, heading outside to finish her smoke.
Mal just sorta sighed at Revy's antics, remembering how she had been the night that she had found the two of them. "I will. She'll appreciate it." He murmured, glancing in the direction of where he knew she was before she headed out, his dark eyes refocusing upon Tia. "I think that should be it. I'll leave you to it." He then turned away and headed towards where he slept which was in the ballroom. Technically, Rika's bed was with his, but sometimes she did sleep downstairs which was ok with him. Sometimes it was more comfortable. He took his spot under the piano cover, soon falling asleep. The piano was long gone, which left this to be the perfect cushion and blanket.
Rika added a couple more sentences to what she had been doing before gathering up all the sheets and stuffing them into a folder. She then picked up her bag and turned off the light she had, walking into the main area. She checked over her clothes, debating if she should change to something more appropriate for her work. She was always in something that looked like a school uniform, or what could be considered one. Well, maybe in japan. All she ended up doing was pulling part of her hair back so it was in a half up half down sort of style. She waved to everyone again before she left, sneaking out her own way so that it wasn't obvious where she actually came from.
Trisha finished up the one song she was singing, taking the time to count up what she had made thus far. It wasn't anything impressive, but at least it was something. Sighing, she leaned against the tree she always took in the park, putting the money in a small pouch she always had at her side lest someone try to steal any. I get more when I'm invited to play at clubs... She shook her head, since that had only happened before she had run away. Oh well, she kinda liked this more.

Kiara fished out the clothes she had from the folds of her curtain/nest/bed, sliding the long, flimsy white skirt over her hips and the pale blue shirt over her head. It was lower cut and hung off her shoulders, though whether that was intentional or because it didn't fit had never been decided by anyone. A bright green scarf-skirt went over the skirt she already wore, the pale green embroidery subtle but still noticable. "Were you going to come with me, Nathan? Or sleep?" she asked, packing her things into the cloth satchel that would sit at her hip when the strap was crossed across her body. Tarot cards, incense, some of the makeup she still had, and anklets that she could put on quickly if she decided to dance rather than give readings. She stood and went back to Nathan, looking exactly like she used to when they were still with the caravan and about to go out into the city.
Trace sighed, following Mina out into the city. He melded easily into a crowd, getting to work and wondering if anyone would notice if he spent his money before going back to the sisters and saying he made less than he actually did.
Nikki left too, finding Trisha soon afterwards. "Hey. Wanna take a corner? You might get more there than here, they're busier than the park right now." she asked. And she'd be more than willing to pick the crowd Trisha's playing would attract.
Tia nodded, following Revy outside. "You're testier than usual. Something up, or just hung over?" she asked, leaning against the wall to watch her sister.

Nathan was now wearing a beat up grungy looking shirt, sliding down from his bed while being careful about the pit. He looked his sister over and had to resist huggling her to death since she looked so cute. "I guess I'll come with. Even though sleep is tempting. Have to make sure no creepy men approach you." He pointed out with a bright smile, also just wanting to get away from Revy lest she decide he was a good shooting target.
Mina glanced back to Trace since she had noticed that lack of funds he had. She looked like any sort of punk child might, or at least alternative with her sense of style. "So did you spend all of your money somewhere, or did you really make that little?" She asked as she glanced back to him, ignoring how he was stealing something from a man at that point in time. She had to ride the subway to get there, holding onto a pole while squishing against the wall between the seats and the door.
Trisha looked up when Nikki arrived, glancing around the park, sighing as she debated what to do. She certainly enjoyed the scenery more in the park than on the street, and there was always the risk of someone reaching into her case and taking her money. That grew more likely on the corner. "Only one close by." She murmured, putting her acoustic guitar in it's case before she straightened up and started off towards one, taking one near a coffee house. Taking out her guitar again, she tuned quickly before she started to play, her voice clear as a bell as it rose into the air, a breeze from the subway causing her scarf's tails to float like wings. Her skirt was held down by her guitar, the back hidden by the wall.
Revy looked up as she stomped out the cigarette, pulling her hair back into a ponytail. "Hang over. Stole some aspirin from Mina's bag while she was sleeping. It hasn't kicked in yet." She muttered, glancing up the alley to see who was walking by.
