He eyed his assigned opponent as they waited for the match to officially start. He had been pitted against a woman, a woman! If not for the scar on his face one might think he was a lost cause, but it was proof that he had learned to respect females, still. He had never known a woman aside from that goddess and his sister to be able to hold their own in a fight against a male, and somehow he felt like losing here would permanently damage what was left of his ego.
That she was an adult would make no difference. He had the wisdom, experience, and age to likely be old enough to be her grandfather, or great-grandfather, this cursed form meant nothing. If he lost here, it would be right back to training for him.

Small, sprightly but steady paws stood at the ready. The form of a colorful yet white lioness placed across her darker opponent locked eyes with his, neither swayed by his macho exterior nor perturbed by his facial scarring. She was ready to beat down this lion of the shadow clan, ready to show her prowess... finally!
Her siblings may have said that she was more boyish than the rest, but she gave no second thought to it. What was masculine to them was fun to her, and she wasn't afraid of getting her pure white paws dirty if it accomplished something. If only her dreams told her how exactly she would win today! But perhaps that would have ruined the ultimate surprise. It was no matter - she would find out herself.
"Why so quiet?" she taunted childishly, tail waving ferociously behind her, brimming with excitement, "Zuko, huh? That's the name of the first guy everyone will remember as my first victory! What do you think about that?"
