Abel:
Abel walked from his wife's shop, his wings tucked against his back. His mismatched eyes were dull, now that he was away from his beloved. He had to be strong around here. She was such a gentle-hearted female despite her outward appearance and strong demeanor. They had both felt the emotional affects of the temporary "loss" of their eldest daughter, but he did his best to put on the brave face and help keep her spirits up. Her feelings certainly came before his own.
"Please, Lord, watch over our child in this time of darkness," he begged softly as he stopped by the riverside. Maybe Hazel had been right. This had not been easy at all. He was angel built for death and his sweet Sarah had her own faults. How could there not have been troubles in their union?

He just wished they hadn't been that bad.

Logan:
Logan had stayed in the area - usually he'd travel all around, finding odd things that might interest him for a day or two. But inevitably he'd get bored, and move on to the next place, with the next group of creatures. But not here - not this place. This place had caught his attention, not only for the easy access to the river and the general beauty of the place - it was prettier than a rubbish dump - but also the odd, intriguing characters he met. And in particular, one female.

She'd seemed so jumpy. So...well, so frightened. But he hadn't been able to find out what of. There was nothing particularly special about her. She was just another girl. But one that had piqued his interested - Logan wanted to find out what was wrong. Because if one thing was for sure, it was that something wasn't right.

He hadn't been paying attention to where he was going as he walked, and suddenly found himself before the river, looking at his own reflection. He studied it for a few moments, before snorting as he lowered his head to take a sip.

He hadn't even noticed the winged otter just to his left.

Abel:
Abel glanced to his right and blinked behind his spectacles. He'd never seen this otter before in the Oasis. He was probably yet another immigrant to the lands. There were so many of those of late. And he, along with a pawful of others, where doing their best at keeping track of who they were and their intentions. Too many creatures of evil were coming in.
Like the monster that had stolen his baby away.
"Good afternoon... Forgive me for sounding rude, but do you have business in this area?" he asked in a low tone. Angelic he might be, and an agent of good, but Abel was still protective of his family.

Logan:
Logan lifted his head, blinking in surprise at the sudden voice than intruded his thoughts. Glancing around, claws scraping the ground lightly as if prepared to fight if necessary, the male soon cooled, relaxing his stance at the other. Wings...how interesting. Logan frowned, tilting his head to the left a little as he studied the winged otter for several moments - he'd never seen wings on an otter before. It seemed unnaturaly, almost... But then again, having the ability to fly must be pretty amazing. He bowed his head in a polite manner, not wishing to seem rude. He didn't want to upset another otter - although, at least, this one didn't seem frightened.

Abel:
Abel smiled politely and dipped his head.
"I became a little more suspicious when I was blessed with my family, so please forgive me if I came off rude," the silver-haired male replied. He sat back a bit and curled his tail around his paws. This male seemed nice enough, and he had no inclination to attack as of yet, so Abel trusted his instincts and relaxed.

"My name is Abel Nightroad. May I know what to call you?" One brow rose over his fire-and-ice eyes as he asked the question. His children looked so much like him. Anna had his blue eyes though she mostly resembled his beloved Sarah. Issac had his silver hair, pale fur, elegant wings, and red fins. And 'Di... For all her demonic traits, she was unfortunately the most like her father. Her mis-matched eyes were the clue to the family "curse", though her abilities were far more dangerous than his own. While she could not draw spilled blood towards herself like Abel could, she could form what she took into a weapon, making her far more formidable than one might assume.
God, how he missed his little girl. Just thinking of his fragile children, grown though they may be, it still brought a soft look of sadness to his eyes.

Logan:
Ah, that was better. Logan returned his own polite greeting, in the form of a nod of his head and a charming smile, after the other had introduced himself. Abel Nightroad, huh? Abel Nightroad who had a family, of whom he was quite protective. Logan made a mental note never to piss off any of his family - whilst he looked angelic, Logan wasn't fooled. He had a feeling he'd have a tough opponent in the winged otter.

"M'name's Logan," he replied after a few moments, watching Abel carefully. He suddenly seemed...distracted. As if deep in thought. Suddenly feeling as if his presence wasn't been fully acknowledged, the male cleared his throat a little...before realizing that meant he actully had to say something. Damnit.

"Uh...so, don't suppose you know of a girl called 'Jee'? Don't reckon it was her real name - demonic looking, mismatched eyes?"

Abel:
Abel's eyes grew wider than otterly possible.
"You've seen Jedidah?" the pale otter rushed, his wings fluffing anxiously as he reached out a paw before quickly setting it back down on the ground. He started fidgeting, then, running that same paw over his long, flyaway hair.

"What... How did she... Was she... well?" he asked brokenly. He missed his daughter, though his close friend had told him what had occurred, why he couldn't be foolish and go after her. He had to trust she knew what she was doing.

Logan:
Jedidah, huh? So that was her name. ...And apparently this dude knew her. Something clicked, about the 'family', Logan drawing his own suspicions as he regarded himself quite carefully, thinking things through before he spoke. Abel had already admitted that he was very protective of his family, and Logan didn't want to say anything to offend or provoke him.

"Yeah. I met her out by the river, down there," he indicated roughly with a paw, shrugging a little, "She seemed alright. Frightened and cautious, but not hurt." He paused, contemplating his next question quite carefully, before finally deciding to speak his mind, "If...you don't mind me asking, bub...is everything alright here? Just the way she acted...almost as if she was scared of someone."

Abel:
Abel let out a slow breath. At least she was well. That was all he could really hope for at that point.
"She's the eldest of my two daughters..." he explained and shook his head. "Where she got her sense of self-sacrifice... It's hard to imagine."
He broke off with a sad little laugh, running the paw over his hair again as his eyes misted with tears over his lost lamb. But as the rest of his statements sunk in, a righteous grew within him.

"A friend of mine told me what had happened. My mate and our son and youngest daughter... They aren't like she and I. They are vulnerable to the abnormal evils here. They're strong in their own ways, but my 'Di and I... We're different. They were threatened and she did what she thought she had to, to protect them." Abel's eyes darkened, the blue deepening several shades toward red with his anger.
"We haven't seen 'Di since she was coerced into her servitude to that monster."

Logan:
His daughter!? Logan looked surprised, and it took him a few moments to gather himself, wiping the emotions from his face. That would explain it - he was protective of his family because of what had happened to Jedidah. But self-sacrifice? It was getting more and more confusing. He remained silent, feeling that the male just needed to let it out, and vent.

Evils? ...He'd known this place was different. Just the smell of it, the atmosphere. It was colder, darker. There were a number of different sides working here, against or with one another. It wasn't all calm and serene as it should be. "Servitude?" he repeated, to check he'd heard right. He could imagine what had happened - servitude in return for family safety. It was a trick he'd seen a few times, and never had it worked out well.

"Well, I can tell you she doesn't look hurt. She's frightened, but not hurt." Yet. was the one word flowing around his mind, but he didn't say it out loud. He didn't want to upset the male further. "Is there no way...to get her out of such a deed?"

Abel:
Abel was glad to hear she wasn't hurt on the outside, but it was within her that worried him. There were so many ways that monster could hurt her soul.
"I suppose there is. Either someone kills the vampire, and anyone loyal to him who would pose a threat, or he goes back on his word and deliberately harms one of us. Though, I think the latter.... I don't know who would win in a confrontation between my daughter and him," he replied and slowly shook his head, rubbing one paw against his temple.

He knew the Cat was doing its best to fix things, but it had said that neither it nor the two other powers got directly involved. For the time, there was little they could do.

Logan:
Kill him, or he goes back on his promise, on the deal. Weren't great options, but it seemed they were all there was to work with. Sighing in an irritated fashion, Logan sat himself down, running a paw through his hair. He wondered how you killed a vampire - could you just do it in an ordinary fashion, or were there special 'rules' you had to follow? Adamantium claws were great, and he could slice most things to pieces with it, but if you needed a wooden stake or a silver bullet or whatever, then they were a bit useless.

"I'd...I'd like to help, bub. If you'd allow it," he finally spoke, getting to what he'd been meaning to say for a while, "It ain't right for a girl to be that frightened. Nor a family to be torn apart. I'd like to help, in any way I can. I can try kill 'im for ya, if you'd like."

Abel:
It wasn't common knowledge in the Oasis, what 'Di had done for her family. Those who were friendly with the Nightroads simply assumed that she had gone off to start a life of her own, though only a small handful understood that this was unlikely because the Nightroad children were so attached to their parents. And it was only the family, Chesh, and those involved that knew the truth.
But Abel had no problems telling this male. Logan had seen 'Di, had worried for her apparently, and as such deserved to know why she acted the way she did.

But he couldn't allow an outsider to get involved. It wasn't that he didn't trust the male's abilities. No, it was that, knowing his little girl, for another to get hurt because of her, 'Di would never forgive herself.
"Thank you for the offer, though I honestly think all we can do is wait for now. Something has already been put into motion, I just don't know what it is..." The winged otter looked up finally, a solemn expression on his face before it moved into that of a small, forced smile.
"But... If you see her again, could you let her know that we understand what she did and want her safe just as much as she wants us to be?"

Logan:
Logan gave another irritated sigh - he didn't like being told no, but in this ase, he could see it was best to take what he'd been told and leave. He didn't want to get involved if he wasn't wanted, and especially if it meant he made enemies with the wrong people. He didn't want to upset the balance of things. Fate had a way it wanted this to play out, and he had to let it do as it wished.

"I will," he reassured, even offering a small smile with a nod of his head, "I'll let her know you're thinking of her, bub."

Abel:
Abel bowed his head deeply in thanks before he stood.
"My mate will be wondering where I've gotten off to. I.... Thank you," he said and turned away to head back towards Sarah's shop. He wished he could swoop in and rescue 'Di, or even let this Logan do it. But he had been told to wait by his friend who knew more than one let on. But he trusted the Cat. If there was someone destined to save his daughter... He would wait for that to present itself.

Logan:
Logan smiled again - a gruff, not particularly reassuring-looking smile, but you could tell it was sincere, and he meant it. He nodded politely as a farewell, watching Abel leave before turning himself, walking off int the distance. For now, it seemed all there was to do was to wait.
