Real mummies are dead, not undead. xD
But if you mean like the mummies that you see in the movies that come back to life, then yeah they're definitely like zombies. I don't think mummies eat people, though.

No, they wouldn't eat people, but maybe they will do what happened in the mummy movie "The Mummy" where if their tombs are messed with, and their organs taken, then the mummies will come and suck everything out of you.

From what sis told me, since Zombies are pretty much dead (they don't have the capatability to think since they came back from the dead) then they wouldn't be like mummies.
Honestly mummies should be like zombies. True, they don't eat people like zombies do, but they are pretty much dead brought back to life without the capatability to think. Mummies had their brains removed during mummification, while zombies lost their brain from being dead (the brain needs oxygen to work, and if the host is dead, the brain is dead).

mummies are usually resurrected and run by sheer revenge and curses. they don't need brains, they want death. or their treasure back. or both.

Mummies serve as guardians of tombs, and awaken when the tomb is disturbed. This is due to curses, which is essentially magic.
But there have been many types of zombies, or theories. Some are seen as the bodies of the dead, reawakened but lacking their original soul, brought back by the sign of the apocalypse or something of that sort. Others, like in Left 4 Dead, are brought upon by infections that first kill and then reawaken the bodies into mindless killing machines.
If the type of zombie you are thinking of was reawaken by magic, then yes I would say that zombies and mummies are essentially the same, regardless of why they were brought back. However, I think that if the zombie was brought back by other means, that is does not include magic, then I think they are different than mummies.

I don't technically define them as zombies... Because they don't eat people per say... I mean they may try to come and kill someone due to them looting their tomb or something. And I think they are cleaner than Zombies are, and totally not infected (if we're talking about the infected zombies). :> I like Mummy's more, and they can curse people... I think...
