Kohaku bounced away from his older sister, though she kept a watchful eye on him. It was her job after all, or one that her mother asked her to do. He didn't know that though. He bound his way threw leaves and sticks that had fallen from the trees above as if he was walking threw a jungle. His tail hitting things as it passes. His attention was on discovering new and interesting bugs or smaller animals.

His eyes fell it's gaze to the cold hard dirt below making his own path away from his den. He wanted to meet more like him. Only having run into one male which was older then him, it wasn't really quite fun. He needed a play friend. Someone he could butt heads with and play fight. Just enough to learn the basics in case something tried to attack him when he was older.

User ImageShe'd managed to escape her brothers once again and sighed in her solitude. Sometimes the bright female liked being around her family, but since their dad deserted, she'd been getting away more and more. However, she wanted a different kind of interaction.

Squinting to clear up her vision, she padded along until purple and orange blobs came in her vision. Of course Kim'acha didn't know who it was. She'd only seen her grandmother and her siblings and her mother. None of the other family she had. But from the scent, it was male. She called out to him, so she didn't startle him when she approached.

Relief took over her features when it was, in fact, another cub! Maybe she could play or learn something new. Kim was just glad she was meeting someone new! "Hi there," she said as she approached, happiness clearly on her face.

Hearing something, he stopped in his tracts. Quickly forgetting what he had been doing. He turned in circles trying to figure out where the sound had come from. Female no doubt. And since he was still in the clan his mother had showed him, he knew it was part of his family. Though, he knew, it wasn't his sister. He couldn't smell her, for the wind was against him and going towards the sound in which the female had called from. Which, after a moment of realizing, he turned towards. "Hi..." He said quietly. He didn't know how to act. He was suppose to be respectful, and kind to females his mother had told him. They were stronger, and bigger. Which she was. He was a very small lion cub. Though, not as small as say a cheetah or leopard cub.

When the blob spoke back, Kim giggled and moved happily towards it, accidentally bumping into whoever it was. Giving an oof, she blinked again and let her brows knit together before examining him. It was male, obviously, and about her own age. Maybe he could be a friend! She shifted to paw at his nose, signaling that he should just relax. Kim didn't care about the customs of how males should act at the moment.

"I'm Kim'acha! Who're you?"
She asked, stepping back just a bit to give him some personal space.

He got bumped a bit but that didn't bother him. He looked to the ground as he saw it was a female. Bright too. She was probably like his mother, a high rank. He wasn't sure how that was though. Though she did have black and white on her. "I-I'm Kohaku" He said in a quiet voice. Still not looking at her. He only felt comfortable looking at his sisters. At least he knew them, he didn't know her. Though her colors suggested that she was related to him in one way or another. Her eyes were also purple, which gave another clue.

Kim, however, didn't notice any kind of relation to the other cub. Shuffling from foot to foot, she frowned when she noticed he wasn't looking at her. Was she ugly? Did she have something on her face? Was she mean to him before? No... she'd never met this one before. ....Had she? She'd remember! It wasn't often she met males other than her brothers.

"W...what's wrong?"

Kohaku shuffled his feet upon the ground looking away from her. "N-nothing..." He said quietly. His shyness seemed to come out of no where. He wasn't like this with his sisters. Though, this was someone else. A different female. He wasn't like this with males, he was fine with. But another female, he felt he would do something bad without knowing it. He was taught to respect females mostly. Though respecting other males was very important too. He could feel his ears drop slightly, but he tried to hold them up. He didn't want to seem too timid.

He was shy now? The yellow female tilted her head to that and then remembered! Males, even cubs, often were shy and respectful to higher ranking females, well... all females, really. Licking her muzzle, Kim shuffled at the thought and frowned. That wasn't what she wanted. She wanted to play, to talk normally like she could with her own brothers. ".....You.... can be normal around me... I won't tell."

She didn't get it... this was his normal around others he didn't know... Well apart from boys. He didn't know how else to act. "H-how else do you expect me to be?" he asked her carefully. His mother had told him that he could deny anything a female asked him, but it wasn't honorable. So if she asked him to play, he would not deny her request. He sat there and looked at his paws, though lifted his head up once in a while.

A frown creased her lips as she listened to him, flicking an ear to show she wasn't to happy about him not knowing how to act. Why was every male following the code? She wasn't fond of that code, but she knew it was important; just didn't know why. Twirling around a little bit, she grinned and then got in a play position, rump in the air and wiggling. "Do you play?" Kim asked right before pouncing him, going for his hair tuft and ear, chewing and slobbering on them to see what his reaction would be.

He kinda went into submission. Letting her attack him though pushing up a paw towards her as defense. What else was he suppose to do? He was told not to wonder around and play with females. They were suppose to be on their way to be trained. Though, he'd never was told what to do if one forcefully played with him. He didn't smile, nor frown. He kinda had a helpless look upon his face as he laid there, his tail flicking wildly.

Seeing how this other cub wasn't going to be playing with her, Kim got off of him and huffed, sitting down on her haunches. So if he won't play, and it didn't seem like he liked to talk, what could they do? Squinting to examine him with her horrible eyes, the yellow cub let her tail thump on the ground in thought. Maybe she should just ask him what he was comfortable with doing?

"Since you won't play... what will you do? I thought... all cubs played." She seemed so lost and pathetic, not knowing what to do. Usually playing brought smiles to everyone, which was one thing this cub liked doing.

"I....I guess they do..." He did play, but how could he with her? What if he hurt her? What if she hurt him? There were so many questions. Though he probably should just ignore them. "I-I donno" He said as he looked away from her. He was still upon the floor. "My mommy says not to play with females." He told her with a honestly. "She said I could hurt them and that's bad because females are important for the pride." He said with a nod."

So that's what it was. His momma said he couldn't play. With a sigh, she nodded. Kim'acha wouldn't go against someone else's teachings. They were important to every family, and especially to males. They were raised very different from females. Ears flicking this way and that, she gave him a little, unsure smile.

"Well, so we won't wrestle. There's still things we can do! We can go play in the watering hole? In the shallow end and see what we can find. Sometimes we can find pretty rocks." Trying her hardest to put this male at ease is what she was doing. She didn't want to make anyone uncomfortable.

"Play.... In the water?" He titled his head at her. He thought water was just for drinking. He never thought about playing it it... It was so... Wet. "Well, I guess it's ok." He said to her. "I saw some weird things in there that swim around... But they never leave the water." He told her about the fish he had seen. Though wasn't quite sure what they were called. He never asked about them anyways. No need to, he would figure it out later.
