Soro was not accustomed to having cubs for company. He was not accustomed to company in general. Lorelei had been a recent test, and it seemed added by this new cub. Still, he was not against it. The way she acquired her delighted him, and he felt a great deal of potential in how he could use Lulu. There was much he could give to this little cub that he had learned through personal experience, and if he had it his way, keep her by his side as a loyal servant. Having someone submissive to his whims at all times for their life felt like a worthwhile investment, and if not, not having her around any longer didn’t mean he had lost anything. He would just be back to where he had been with one less cub in the world.

It was a prize to take Lulu to his cave just to watch the march of lionesses that seemed angered, confused, and deeply troubled to see him lead a cub to his den. Unspoken thoughts raced across their wide eyes as he passed.

You will like my den. It has plenty of things to play with, and is very comfortable.” He went up the hill and stopped in front of his den. Lorelei seemed to be gone, probably off to collect more of her “ingredients”. “There is another female that I have here. She will live with you. If you need tending, she will take care of it.” If there was a time the cub needed something he could not provide, he would send Lorelei to take care of it. He wasn’t a mother after all.

Soro’s den was far from homey for the normal lion. The male had collected bones and had them strewn around his den. Skulls, ribs, pelvises and various bones of all sizes were in piles, with stray bones littering here and there. Lorelei’s place had been cleared, shown by her various herbs and herb sacks. There was also a open skull that held water that was improvised to help Lorelei out for healing.

You can sleep anywhere. The only thing is that you do not remove these bones. Arrange them or place them somewhere, but never take them outside of the den. They are mine. ” The lion stressed this point from behind his bone mask.

Lulu wasn't really sure what was going on. She had looked up at all the lionesses as she passed and was equally upset by their reactions. She padded along behind the big dark male, her little white and black paws hurrying to keep up with him. She occasionally turned her pale head back to gaze where her mother was. She didn't make a sound really, just little whimpers as she followed obediently.

She didn't want to get her mommy or brother in danger and even in her little cub mind, she knew she was doing the best she could for her family. She hurried up as they neared the cave and he spoke of another lioness there. "Is she nice?" She asked, looking up at the scorpion marked male with a curious and child like look.

She looked back down and walked inside, her black tail wagging slightly as she walked in between the bones. She looked down at them, not really sure what they were. She looked back up at him. "Are they your toys? I can play with them-if I am careful..." She said, prodding one with her paw. "I promise not to break them..." She said softly

Her oblivious nature was even endearing to Soro, who smiled at her. “She will be nice to you. I will make her nice to you. She will do as I say, which is what you should do. Follow her example. She will watch over you, but not as much as I will. I will be the one watching over you and protecting you, because you are mine. What is mine is what I keep, and I do not let others hurt what is mine.

At the mention of bones, he looked down, and he thought for a moment before he gave a toothy grin to her. What a way to phrase it. Toys. “Yes, I guess you could say they are my toys. From beginning to end, I have played with them. I like to play.” Oh yes, he had plenty of games he liked to play, and many bones ended up from his rough play. “I’ll show you games if you behave later on, but feel free to play with these bones. Do not worry about breaking them. I can always bring more. Have fun with them. ” To demonstrate, he used a paw to swipe at a pelvis that shot out and skidded into another pile.

Lulu. Do you know what your name means or what you were named after?” He rolled the name, and wondered if he should give her a new one. A new name for new ownership and a new place. He would be reinventing her after all.

Lulu played quietly with two long leg bones of what ever they were, sliding them one atop the other for a moment, listening to the soft sound of the bone against bone. She cocked her head, looking up at him with her black ear cocked. "Okay." She said simply, shrugging her shoulders. She knew her Mommy was going to come rescue her eventually, so it would only be a matter of time before that happened.

"kay..." She said again, giving the bones a good clank together with a small smile. She rather liked the sound of it, the clean crispness of it. She clanked them a few more times, her head waving side to side as she went, like she was singing a song in her head.

"M'name means pearl... like a shiney thing from the sea. My mommy said so." She said, lifting her head and smiling up at him with those little red eyes gleaming. "Said that the white parts of me are like the pearls..."

Soro grinned at the name, finding it inappropriate but very fitting for a mother to give her child. It created images of precious treasures, and he grinned at the idea of having stolen something valuable. A valuable female made no sense in itself. No, she was something else, and as her new owner, he would not stand for other associations. Names given by other females were bad titles, as a woman’s tongue was warped. “No, that is not a good name for you. A pearl is a useless thing that is used to attract the eye and does nothing else. You cannot use it, eat it, or rely on a trinket in the end. It’s better to leave pearls in the ocean. The necessitates in life and what are reliable to maintain life are better to devote ones time to. Your name will not due.

I shall call you Lešapšana. Lesa for short. It means small bone, for you look like something that is strong and has been pulled out of a weak body to show it is made of something tougher. The white that shoes from a wound, the pieces of body still stuck to you. You will not be seen as a symbol of uselessness, but be something I can rely upon when needed, as much as our bones keep us together and are what make us strong. The body rots. Bones remain.” He looked up, feeling that was better suited, and that his little explanation touched on something more he would not reveal to the young cub.

I will call you Lesa for now on, and you shall call me sir or master. I do not need anything more than that for titles. You know I am not your father. You know I am not your mother, but I will be something more to you. Wait and see.

Lulu didn't rightly understand what he was talking about half the time-either he was speaking to her of something she did not understand or she rightly was not paying attention. As he told her that her name was not suitable, she lifted her head and opened her mouth to speak back-to tell him she liked her name the way it was... but she stopped herself before hand.

She wrinkled her nose at the new name he told her. She would never remember that right, or even pronounce it in fact. "Les-lesa-lesapsanasa?" She asked, looking up with confused little red eyes. She didn't really understand what he was talking about, with the bones and stuff. She didn't really grasp the concept of death and decomposition.

Sir and master.

She nodded her head slowly, reaching down to play with the small pile of bones again. She didn't even know her father and she very well wouldn't have called him Dad. She didn't understand what he was talking about, 'the something more to you'... but was readily concentrating on the bones. "Where did all these come from?"

He smiled, thinking that her poor speak reflected her small mind. She seemed too sheltered that it had also rendered her a bit dull. Not as sharp as he would have liked, but well enough as a prize. Once she grew up, he could barter with her, and use her to do other tasks that only required a bit of thought. That is unless he could trade her for something more worthwhile. Some other lions held females in higher regards than he did, and he had no problem passing one off. For now though, he hoped she would become something that could not entertain his time and be a useful tool.

Hmm. Maybe Less will work for you. Les, instead of Lesa. I think we’ll keep it simple in your case.” Less was very fitting. IT would be a short form of the little bones he thought of with her, but also showed how little she was. Les. It had a better ring to it than he imaged.

He watched her pay with the bones, and he also hit one to watch it fly across the cave. The sound was music to his ears. “The bones come for the kills. When you eat, I take the bones. Other people see it as waste, but I don’t. A bone makes you strong. It keeps you going. Deep inside, you are full of bones. Maybe I will take you on a few hunts, and you can collect some for yourself. Do you like playing with them?

Lulu gazed up at him and many thoughts filled her head. Mother said that males were useless and dumb, except her brother of course, and that they couldn't be trusted as far as you could throw them. She watched as the bone he hit whizzed by and clanked against others and sent them skittering. She really wasn't super fond of these toys but she knew better than to tell him they weren't the funnest.

"Les... okay." She said softly, almost sweetly as she leaned back and swatted at the bones with her black paw, her favorite one. "Yes." She lied, smiling slightly. "They make sweet little sounds when you hit them together... and they are white-like me... I like them. I can see why you like to play with them"

The girl seemed simple, but he didn't expect her to be smart. As long as she listened, took orders, and respected him as a subservient gender, he would be content. As a procession, she seemed to know how to act, but he did have a inner fondness for those he could use. Already he cold see her growing up to be strong, useful, and a helpful tool for anything he needed. He wondered if she would gain the same figure as her mother, and his grin widened at the idea. Now that would be somethign to see, and in this lush land, she would grow into a hunter who could work for him and maybe, even a little, like him.

"Then that is good. You will grow to be comfortable here. My Lorelei will see to your basic needs, and I'll teach you what your mother, the one that left you behind, could not. You will find you will come to like it here, and come to enjoy my company. If you ever need safety and to be protected, I will make sure no one touches you. You are mine, and that means no harm from others will come to you." he smiled at her before he shook off and decided he wanted a swim. "I'm going to swim now. Later on, I'll give you your first hunting lesson. You should start now while you are still young. " Smiling, he shook his black mane and with that padded off leaving her to regard her new "home".

Lulu watched him quietly with the solace of her mother. Lorelei... she would have to meet her soon. Lulu needed some female company, being she was still so young. She needed some maternal company. She nodded her head to him, as he stood and left the cave.

She looked around her, pushing bones away from her so she could lay down and perhaps get some sleep. She was tired and frankly a bit upset, so a nap seemed nice. She lay down, covering her eyes and shutting them.
