Yensid had been the quietest pup, he had watched his siblings as they grew, played, and spoke. He felt protective of both his brother and sister yet did not express his protective emotions except perhaps by hovering close to them and watching them carefully. He loved his siblings, he loved his parents but he didn't feel the need to gush his feelings...ever. His father he showed his love towards by being obedient and training quietly to fight. His mother he showed his love for by tenderly helping her in long stretches of silence to tend to her roses, or by scraping the thorns away from a bloom and offering it to her with no mind for how badly the thorns had cut his maw and tongue.
Still he felt the desire to speak now, his parents had been helping Fantasia to organize things, their home for example was being morphed slowly new dens being added into the earth. He often found his mother adding and expanding her roses to start forming a tentative wall...what had once been a humble little den was becoming a grand maze, a palace of roses and dens. Yensid had to know what it was that Fantasia and Terabithia wanted to achieve...and how he could help. He was glad at least though that it seemed they would be together, a family. The idea of growing and leaving his parents and siblings hadn't been an idea he relished.
Disneyana had taught them from birth how to move among the beautiful roses, flowers that were rich in fragrance yet painful if disrespected. Yensid even now larger slid with grace away from the thick heavy thorn brambles that covered the earth providing them with a natural wall of sorts. He came away with his coat shining from the light brushing the thorns had given him, loose fur caught within the brambles. He smiled back at the sight knowing that the seeds would fall into the tufts of fur and be carried by the wind to help more roses to grow in fertile land. Turning away from the sight he peered about hoping to find his brother, he refrained from calling out for all good things came to those with patience.

If Fantasia had only been more dynamic, it wouldn't have been so surprising to see him in what us two-leggers would consider a most overused, yet no less beautiful, sunset scene: and of course, with his back to the currently sniffing Yensid. It had only been barely a day ago that he had met with an interested party for the pack his parents and Terabithia had been helping to create here, in this rose-filled wonderland. Fanta was only sitting down to catch his breath for a moment, thorncuts about his mouth still fresh from earlier, and it was only by conincidence that the picturesque pose was what his brother might find him in.
Still, Fanta was not so lost in his thoughts that he could not scent Yensid as he neared and, blinking from his reverie, turned his head to view pale green teen. "Hey there," he greeted, very glad that he could take a small break from the high court vocabulary he had been practicing for a while now, as was evidence with his encounter with the three adults. He could not look his age with him, but Fantasia had had no idea how wearing the effort would be. Perhaps acting like an adult when his body was clearly not ready for it was more tiring than clearing away roses or digging the earth; brown patches were a little discernable from his ginger pelt still to show for his effort, as well as several leaves and the occassional seed. But this particular family was used to such things.
Fantasia got to his paws to go greet his brother, panting a little. The temperature was growing a little less hot by the week, but it still made him heat up quickly. "I haven't talked with you in a bit, Yensid. How's it been with you?" It slipped the youth's mind that Yensid hadn't been told why they were doing what they were, the wolf being of so little words that Fantasia had merely assumed he was in the know by now.

Yensid was at a loss for a while, he moved to sit by his brother once again he felt the surge of protectiveness and adoration towards his sibling but there was no outward sign of it. He so rarely spoke that now he barely knew what he wanted to say. Finally he glanced back at the growing wall of roses.
"You and mama have been working hard...expanding." His voice was tinged with curiosity. It seemed things were changing now, he could see how nervous their mother was, but he could also see how much she wanted her please her children. He wondered idly if he or tera or fanta had said they wished to go to the moon if Disneyana wouldn't hurt herself trying to make the trip possible.
His shoulders rolled back in a careless shrug muscles moving with ease, ease born of practice. Living off of meat and vegetation and trained by their father in offense and their mother in defense had sculpted him well. He didn't have the terror of the forest like Disneyana, but he stayed away from it out of respect for his mother, after all it was the only thing she had ever asked of her children.

"Yes . . ." He trailed off, deep bronze eyes gazing towards the new dens briefly before returning to his brother. "It's taken time, but I think it's worth it in the end. Right?" But it hit Fantasia that Yensid was not merely stating, but also almost inquiring with his words, and the ginger teen blinked. "You're not aware?" he asked with a tiny frown. "Well then . . . That was thoughtless of me." He shifted a little self-consciously from paw to paw; how could he have gotten so wrapped up in the pack business that he would forget to inform his own blood?
"I'm not sure how best to start this, but do you believe in Fate, Yensid?"

"Of course, some things are fated, but I also believe in the power to change fate, that she changes for she can be both kind and cruel, her nature ever fickle and based on the choices we make." His voice was even and certain quite convinced of his view, and also seeing Fate itself as some female embodiment like a distant Goddess.
Still he was more curious now leaning in a bit eager to hear and understand what had his mother and brother and sister and even father all working so hard. Disneyana herself had vanished for a few days, which was completely impossible for Yensid to believe. To his knowledge his mother never went anywhere alone, yet sure enough she had vanished alone and returned looking quite tired but pleased. Fantasia too seemed to wander away for whole days and return looking pleased, what in the world was happening?

Change fate? A fantastical idea at most, he thought. To try and change one's fate was like to bat at water: at most a splash would occur, but the water would return to being undisturbed sooner or later, the reflection of yourself in its depths still the same as before. There was nothing he could do to change fate, but Fanta entertained his brother's idea anyway, for family's sake.
"Maybe so," he replied with a slight nod, "and if that's the case, then I think this place is fated to be the home of a large pack, brother, a large pack to home the righteous and train younglings in earnest. Yet already," - and he spoke with a growing frown - "I've heard tales that a nameless darkness lies to our south and west. It bothers me if nothing else, knowing its territory is large and close, its members prowling for their hooded leader . . ." It wasn't like him to show concern outwardly, but there would be time enough for acting nonchalant about everything in the future. With family, there was no need to hide his honest feelings.

"Mother fears such things, the forest...and the darkness within. She has explained many times why we must remain out in the open meadow, despite it's dangers the roses have always protected us." Yensid nodded softly realizing now that his brother intended to create a pack out here, their home would be home to many. Clearly Disneyana was supportive of the idea, more then supportive, and their father as well. No wonder Allah had been training with more ferocity, he would protect his family no matter the cost. Yensid knew he too would protect his family no matter what dangers they might face.
"If your fate is to create this pack, then you know my own fate is entwined with yours, like vines we are stronger together. I may aid you?" He looked at his brother earnestly, understanding his family's goals made him happier to participate. He had worried about the expansion and his mother.

At this Fantasia broke into a smile. "You're asking like I have to give you permission," he replied, nudging Yensid with a paw lightly. "I never gave a thought to you helping because it needed no thinking, no pause to wonder or debate - I already knew you would be here." His brother had never exhibited any signs of wanting to leave; itwas more of the opposite really, seeming to show anxiety whenever something like leaving was brought up. Really, they all had been, especially their parents.
"Mother fears the forest, but I don't," Fanta went on carefully, glancing around to make sure their mother wasn't around to listen. "I didn't mention this to them, but that time I ran away a little too far? I was at the forest's fringes. Nothing, Yensid. Nothing happened. The forest holds rose bushes, too, beautiful specimens - that was where I found several members whom showed interest. Fate is on our side, even in places where we may fear most."

Yensid's eyes widened curiously and he tilted his head. "Roses in the forest? They are the same?" He wondered at that, new specimens might thrive just as well in the rich soil they had. The soil was richer still thanks to his mothers constant efforts to revitalize it and the way she buried their leftover meats and bones to add nutrients to the ground. "Mother would be worried if she knew you had been there..."
He trailed off not wanting to tell his brother, Fantasia knew better but they weren't pups anymore and there was no need for their mothers fear to bind them. He maintained a distance from the forest out of love for his mother knowing how it would worry her. But their father had once dwelled in the very forests that their mother so feared, so while there might be dangers within it wasn't as if none who entered would ever be seen again.
"You must be careful Fanta, inviting strangers into our home...even those with good intentions can often be led astray..." He sighed and relaxed slowly, he would have to trust his brothers good judgement. "I will always be here for you, whatever the need may be."

"I know," he replied quietly. "I know there is no such thing as perfection. But what harm is there in seeking it, eh? I want to produce upstanding warriors for certain - not that there aren't some already without knowing about this, but it's the very basis of the pack, to train and create and allow a wolf to gain the necessities of the hunt and the battle, Fate forbid it should come. Order is everything, I say, and those that gather to it will have strong hearts we can count on. Ironically, it's the name of the pack that escapes me most . . ." He frowned thoughtfully, allowing his tongue to slip out slightly at the corner of his mouth: a habit not yet diminished from puppyhood and something that probably would not leave him until he embraced death. "Maybe I'm being too nitpicky. But if I can have one thing that is perfect in life, let it be the name."

Yensid watched his brother in silence absorbing his words calmly and nodding softly. Order was indeed important, it was their parents careful care and planning that had led to their successful birth and rearing between two loners in the open meadow. Without their mothers ability to hide among the roses and cleverly use them as shelter, and protection, and of course their fathers ferocity and hunting skill. Yes it was either fate or pure luck that they could thank for their very lives, it was nice to think his mother and father had been fated to meet and create them.
"Why not...The Order of the Rose? That would make mama happy..." Yensid murmured softly, it felt strange for him to be speaking, and suggesting, but he wanted to help his brother and for once he couldn't just offer a silent aid...or perhaps he could...and would find a way...hmm but that was for later reflection.

Pondering over the suggestion, the tongue switched corners of the mouth. First he mulled it over in his mind: Order . . . The Order . . . And then it made its way to his mouth belatedly, trying out the sensation of each syllable like a morsel. “The Order of the Rose.” A simple statement, a simple theme - of course Yensid would be able to spot its brilliance. “Excellent,” was Fantasia's one word response, a warm grin spreading across his maw. Their parents would approve, he was sure, as well as Terabithia. Heck, Tera agreed with practically anything anyway, being so agreeable and willing to cooperate. Then again, this was more prominent nowadays with her head being more and more in the clouds, though for what reason Fantasia couldn’t perceive exactly.
“Thanks, Yensid,” he said with that rare smile. “I like it! The Order of the Rose, simply The Order for short. Momma would be happy for sure.” As he was sure Allah and Tera would; and if not, he could convince them with time. “Are you some sort of recluse genius?” Fanta went on to say, put in such a mood that he was willing to joke around a bit. “Or maybe you’ve been sniffing the roses for too long.”

Yensid gave a soft chuckle and lightly tipped his head in welcome for his brothers thanks. It was the least he could do, offering a little help where he was capable. He didn't speak though just let his dark blue eyes shine with amusement. He was hardly anykind of genius, he just liked things to have their place and he loved to help, a trait no doubt inherited from his ever helpful parents.
Which reminded him..."Fanta, you must speak to mama, she's working too hard on the wall. I saw her paws the other day, they look very sore, she would never complain but we can't allow her to continue she could hurt herself. Maybe we can help dig and she can just plant?"

"Yes, yes . . ." He had taken Disneyana's pain in stride, for their mother never wanted to be treated like she was elderly. The roses were her caretakers and family as well, and she tended to them diligently. Though once Yensid pointed it out, Fantasia was forced to acknowledge that even despite these facts, they were more able-bodied and shouldn't be allowing her to do the harder amount of work. "Let's stop her, then," the ginger teen said with a nod, getting to his paws and stretching a tad before turning his back on the sunset to pad back to the dens.
Disneyana would stick out easily with her blue fur against all the dirt and flowers . . . well, assuming she wasn't completely covered. Her scent intermingled with the roses so much, it would be terribly hard to try and seek her out lie=ke that, so he went the simple route. "Mama?" Fantasia called. "Where are you?"

With a soft nod Yensid rose to his paws and followed his brother, perhaps the more alpha male would have a better time of convincing their mother not to push herself so hard. It was doubtful though, for as long as he could remember Disneyana had tended to the roses, granted all this digging and replanting had never been done. The task of keeping the roses maintained had been simple, but this new task was much more trying. Yensid could see the longer sharper thorns on almost all the roses, clearly they had been specially picked and pruned, grown by his mother for their usefulness.
He had to admit rather grudgingly that the roses were now planted in such an organized fashion that it would be rather hard for any wolf to get past without injury. If someone wanted in they would have to go to one of the three openings Disneyana had left. His eyes moved upward, most of the roses were also rather tall, tall enough to make a jump difficult, and no doubt in time the roses would grow taller and thicker, more dangerous.
~
Disneyana hummed softly to herself as she dug furiously deep dirt trenches that would hold her roses tight. She let her blue eyes dart about at well measuring the spaces in between and contemplating adding the sumac and wild raspberry vines as further protection. Her nose was scratched up, and her muzzle was speckled with blood but none of it mattered, only her childrens future was important to the loving mother.
She perked her head up carefully and smiled as she spotted her two sons. "Over here darlings!" She leapt out of the shallow rosebed and shook off with a soft sneeze. She winced and sat down trying to let the ache fade from her paws, her nails were duller from all the digging and her joints ached. Still she greeted her sons with a bright smile.
