My least favorite intro story, and definitely a nominee for worst story of all time, is The Twin Dilemma.
Sole redeeming feature... the Doctor tried to strangle Poor Pusillanimus Peri.
Mestor: You really are mad. You dare to threaten me in my own throne room? Doctor: Did I threaten him? Did you hear me threaten him? Mestor: Be silent! Doctor: Watch it, Mestor! rolleyes

time and the rani beats out even The twin dilemma in my mind...
it doesn't have much redeeming value in it...

crying I... I love Paul McGann... but I HATE that movie... I waited YEARS for that thing.. and the way it was on I sat in front of the TV... anll happy and waiting.. and it sucked.. I was ALMOST afraid that Dr Who didn't stand up to my childhood adoration... but then I realized that my dad and mom liked it too.. mad so how does that work out?? DAMN FOX! damn them for helping to make that movie... although.. erm.. horray for shippyness.. heart sweatdrop

I would argue that prior to Rose, none of the 1st stories for a new Doctor have been good since the Robot. Castrovalva wasn't too bad, but it wasn't exactly an auspicious start either. You'd think that JNT would have done his best to introduce the newest incarnation with as good a story as possible, but...
^^ Time and the Rani was atrociously bad, but I find its silliness oddly amusing in parts. Like the dorky way the aliens run, or the absurdity of the Rani pretending to be Mel. Whereas I just find Twin Dilemma utterly boring, and the 6th Doctor completely unlikable (in this story). But, man, that Rani episode had the lamest Dr. demise/regeneration of all time!
^ McGann had the potential to be a great Dr., but it was wasted on a movie was dull beyond belief. I don't hate it, it's just... meh.
So, seffy_chan, you're a Dr./Grace shipper, then?

the movie sucked. it had the potential to be up with the greats of cinema, such as star wars, episodes 1 through 6, and.... yeah. in reality, i think everyone had a subconscious feeling it would suck, but they watched it anyway, cos it was a lame attempt to bring back who.

I'd be all for a Doctor/Romana relationship in the new show! Heck, since she can regenerate, she could stick around as a companion/girlfriend for a looong time.
It may not be a very stable relationship, however, what with all the personality changes that accompany regeneration and such.

I haven't seen it, but I'm pretty much spoiled for the whole first season. Gallifrey was wiped out during some Time War, right?
But Romana was in that weird white place between E-space and N-space, so maybe nobody took her into consideration when they reckoned that the Doctor was the last of his kind.

McGann's entrance completely sucked. But I guess Eccleston's follows a close second. His opening episode was good, but we nver saw Mcgann to Eccleston transformation! Crap! But, *breaks own code not to ruin the story*, we do see Eccleston to Tennant.

SPOILERS SPOILERS DO NOT READ AND IF YOU DOm DO NOT THEN KILL ME Where on EARTH did you hear that rumour? Load of complete tosh in my opinion, however I would be prepared to accept that Captain Jack is in some way linked to the Timelords. But... CAPTAIN JACK IS GETTING HIS OWN SERIES! FELLOW WHOVIANS PREPARE FOR A TOTAL FEST OF JACKYNESS!

No, belive me, the Rose and Doctor relationship works the best over any other companionship. I found all the other companions slightly.... Clingy and formal... Rose brings a touch of Londoner into the show. And then when he turned into Tennant, wheesh that's a good dialog! I only saw the first five minutes during CHildren in Need, so I don't know that much. It looks good though.

As I said, Captain jack is probably a Timelord. Me and a friend at school who is also a Whovian both think Jack is the new timelord. I can't wait until his series starts. It'll rock.
