The dark brown wolfess awoke from her deep sleep all too soon. Another dream of nothing but warmth. She wanted nothing but for it to close in on her and surround her like a blanket. Just to sleep, eat, and breath in warmth. But no. Elayi knew that she could not go back to sleep and dream about warmth again. After waking, she never could.
It was the middle of the night, and she had gone hunting out of the Acropolis Pack's lands, into some deep forest. Not sure which way to turn next. She knew the way home, but she didn't want to go back right now. She just needed some fresh air. Joining a pack for the first time in your life can be somewhat overwhelming. Everyone needs a break sometime.
Pushing herself up off the ground, she felt the darkened breeze whoosh through her own fur, straight through her own skin, it seemed like. Having no den to sleep in wa turning out to have it's downfalls. Maybe she should have taken the time to drag a fallen branch against a bush. It seemed much more comforting than just sleeping under a tree.
Sighing, she set off in a random direction, placing one small paw infront of the other, weaving her lean body through under-brush. Perhaps tonight would be different.

A pelt the color of slate dashed with what looked like winter snow moved through the forest. This wolf, born of a kind she-wolf and a one night fling with a male that had taken off with his sister, Yas knew his brother Warrick was out rescuing damsels in distressed (if not their mother). However, the gray male felt like nothing was right in his world.
The white powder covered slate paws padded aimlessly against the ground as he just wandered. The young male had known his mother loved both him a Warrick equally, but Warrick was always the one that knew exactly what he wanted and Yas, well Yas was merely a lost soul looking for what he was.
Black nose twitched and the faint scent of another wolf made the loner lift his head up. The time of what his pelt depicted was upon the land, the underbrush was drying up, coats were thickening to prepare for the winter to come, but it was always the crisp air that tickled the male's nose that made the scent of other's seem to be carried.
Yas had learned he had inherited some of his 'father's' smooth tongue, got the male out of many of fights when accidentally crossing unknown wolves paths. But he also knew that the smooth tongue was not something that he wanted to pride himself in, wasn't his existence a mere fluke in the grand design of things?
Shaking his head and pausing in his strides. The young male looked around with gray eyes. "Hello?" He called out in a smooth, deep voice, something he didn't do intentionally, it was just how his voice had matured.

Elayi froze in her tracks, why hadn't she smelled it? Another wolf! Snapping her head back, shifting from paw to paw, she realized that if this wolf wantred to fight, she was a goner. Her small frame and tired status would do her no good here. And without a meal, it also wouldn't give her an advantage.
But something strange, this wolf...he didn't sound like he wanted to fight, or like he was vicious. He sounded...raher calm, actually. Gathering up her strength, she stopped pacing, and stood at her full state, tail high and ears up. Like a proud wolf. She could have laughed at herself.
"Who are you?" It was none-too-gentle, but not threatening, either. He didn't sound or smell like danger, so why should she?

Among the bark of the trees, gray eyes connected to green orbs, the female stood with her head held in a proud state and her tail lifted. Yas was just standing with his head uplifted in an inquisitive manner and it tilted to the side the moment the female questioned who he was.
"I'm called Yas." The slate gray and white male replied, looking at the femme who was older then him, by some seasons (her scent told him that) but she looked like she was tired too. "I'm also not here to cause any trouble for anyone, my kind lady." The words just flowed out of his mouth. He didn't know what he was saying until they were out in the air.
"May I ask for your name?" he then inquired. Feeling that hopefully this would be a peaceful meeting, talking his way out of another fight, and from a wolfess in a pack, he wasn't all the plumped up to do so.

She let herself relax, finally. He wasn't out to get her. Thank God...though she wasn't a religious wolf.
"Elayi," She sat almost immediately. Normally, she wouldn't do this, let her guard down so easily. But this guy seemed alright, and she was tired. Her muscled ached from tensing up so fast. "And I'm not 'your kind lady' thank you very much. I'm just Elayi. I like your name, Yas. It's simple, easy to say. Some wolves, I swear, they've crammed all the letters they can into their names. But you, no. Your the good one," The ramble was out of her mouth before she even though it over. Oh well, he didn't seem like he'd really care, from the looks of him. He was gray, with dashes and blurries of white, with even grayer eyes.
'Pretty...' Elayi thought, then scolded herself. 'Your not good enough,' followed appropriately. Yes, that was it. That was the one line that rang through her head constantly. She was never good enough.

Yas' ears flickered about as his oddly masked face seemed to tilt at the femme as she began to speak again. "Elayi," He repeated, as if testing the name on his tongue or committing it to memory.
Taking a step back, Yas lowered his snout slightly to Elayi. "I meant nothing offensive by those words. I didn't feel right calling someone who hadn't attacked at sight anything that would be derogatory in remark." A faint smile graced his maw as he added, "My mother raised me better then that."
As Elayi went on to ramble about how simple his name was, he gave a light laugh. "Not my doing, Elayi. Again, that would be the complement aimed for my gentle parent." He didn't mind the rambling, oddly enough. Most of the time Yas was the one that avoided others, but this female seemed to be amusing, and maybe a bit more interesting to him due to the fact her personality was unique compared to most he had came to peer at.
"Would you mind if I asked, why would it seem you're out here alone? You smell like you have a pack and I can't fathom an idea as to why there isn't someone walking with you."

"No worries, my dear Yas. You see, I just recently joined a pack, Acropolis. It's a bit overwhelming, when you've spent your whole life wandering and being afraid of other wolves, and then in an instant your sucked into a pack where everyone wants to talk to you and...and you belong," Her voice trailed off a bit at the end, masking her fears and discomfort. She quickly snapped back to reality. 'Wakey, wakey, your not in dreamland anymore."
"So I decided to trail off for a day or so to explore my surroundings. I guess I'm here now..." She finished, and realized that she had been getting closer to Yas all this time, taking steps forward till she was only a stride away. She could clearly see every blotch of white on his fur. Every single one. And she liked it.
Woah! Where had that come from?!
"Your fur is really pretty, you know. I like it. A pretty name to go with pretty fur," Now she sounded like a pup, for God's sake! Why couldn't she control her tongue today?

Now Yas couldn't help but c**k his head at the female and give an amused smile. Here she had snapped at him for calling her a kind lady and yet she was calling him dear. There was part of his mind that mused and played with the words, how many wolves had he ever heard just spill their guts to him like this she-wolf was? He could count them all on one paw...on no paws actually.
"You should feel welcomed that you have others that care enough to want to know you, Elayi. There are some packs that would rather kill their neighborers then learn about them." He stated, then felt like he should add. "But there is no doubt in my mind that one as sharp as you wouldn't know that." It wasn't a condensing manner in which he spoke, it was all honest and kind that Yas' words flowed smoothly out with.
"Taking time for one's self is just as important." He added as the earthy wolfess finished her words. After all, wasn't that was Yas was doing? Wandering around trying to find his niche in the world. "We all need a break from a group, no matter the size or how long we've been with them, to ourselves."

"Yeah, I guess so..." The words sunk in. He really wasn't like other wolves, he sounded like...like he understood her. He didn't just label her and pass he off like other males she'd known. Maybe he really was different...
"So, Yas...umm..." She couldn't really find much to say. She was close enough to brush her fur against his is she wanted too. Her mind was literally drawn a blank. She really, really wanted to sniff him and find out who he really was, but that would be rude. Maybe she could ask? But that would be rude too, wouldn't it? Oh, why dd she have to be female? To go through moodiness and emotions? Why couldn't she be a rock? Yes, a rock, just sit there all day and do nothing.
"Nice, err...weather we're having...heh..." He could probably tell by now how nervous she was. What should she do? She shouldn't just stand here and talk about the weather! She should, umm...umm...
Forgetting how close the male was to her, Elayi turned her head to look at a pretend rustling in the bushes, a make-believe scent that she had to follow (not that she wanted to leave). Her muzzle smacked right into Yas's jaw.

Yas just tilted his head and flicked an ear. Giving the older female another smile. "It's true though, or I think it is." He murmured the last part, letting his head drop slightly in admission.
But it snapped back up at the statement of his name, both gray ears perked forward, and the gentle wind blowing a bit of the femme's scent towards his nose. Getting it to twitch and his mind went spinning as there was something familiar, vaguely familiar about Elayi's scent.
"Yes...nice weather for summer to be winding down." He answered, just before Elayi's muzzle socked his jaw, and little dots sprang to dance before his eyes. Blinking a couple times and shaking his head as the gray wolf stepped backwards dazed, Yas lifted a paw up to rub the spot.
Something made him state this question. "Do you know the wolfess, Artemis?" Maybe the knock had sent him for a loop, but his voice was still smooth.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" She whined and pawed at her nose constantly. Artemis? "My sister? Why? Have you met her?" Elayi dropped her paw and gazed at Yas questioningly. His gray eyes and pelt reflected off moonlight that escaped from the heavy trees. What if... Oh God.

Still rubbing his jaw and then flexing it some, he blinked enough times to look be able to look up and not see the little colorful dots that had appeared at the sudden bump. "No worries. No blood, no foul." Yas was stating, sounding like a wolf suddenly far older then his seasons.
Sister? Yas' gray eyes were suddenly locked upon the earthy hues of Elayi's pelt and sure enough...it was all there. "She's my mother." Yas stated in a soft voice, loving for the wolfess that had birthed him and his siblings. But now he was curious about who he might run into now that could also be related to him.

Everything that Elayi had previously felt about this male, Yas, was gone. Or what she might have felt, anyways. This was...shocking.
"Oh, well...that means, your my nephew," She chuckled nervously, ignoring the stinging in her nose. Yes, she totally didn't just crush on her nephew, she couldn't have!
