What did you wear before you turned to the frilly side? Just another cute, get-to-know-your-neighbor-ish topic of interest. I know this is not expressly and explicitly lolita, so I refrained from posting it in the main organ of the guild. Mods, if I'm stepping over any lines (as I nearly always feel like I'm breaking some sort of rule when I post a topic), let me feel the wrath of your mice clicking the scarlet area of 'delete'; until then, let's discuss!

I'll start off -- as I'm still making the transition into lolita, I still dress relatively casual. I try not to resort to outright jeans 'n' tee whenever I show my face in public, though. I incorporate lolita elements, particularly frills, into what would otherwise be an ordinary outfit (blouse, skinnies, heels, repeat). Sometimes, I pair my handmade!lolita skirt with a dressy or casual top. And I won't hide my face; I do look towards Teen Vogue mag for inspiration. :3

Anybody else? c:

I wore, and I still do when not in lolita, a kind of mixture between formal goth and punk. Lots of ties.

I actually wear these most of the time (far more often than lolita ;P)

Everyday: Torn up jeans, shirts, short denim skirts, leather jackets, camouflage capris, tank tops.

Fun Days: Band shirt + frilly skirt, bows, large glasses, platform boots, hair extensions, fuzzy gothic coat, long buckle coat, designer jeans, loooow cut blouses, ect.

Clubbing: Cyber goth- short skit, fuzzy black/white jacket, cyberlox, fuzzy leggwarmers, boots, goggles >w<

I usually just wear jeans and a t-shirt XD Or shorts or a skirt when it's summertime. I get most of my clothes from the kids section in Target, so my jeans are usually decorated with butterfly/flower embroideries or something, and my t-shirts are usually more fitted with puff sleeves and something pretty or cute printed on the front razz

Whatever was studio appropriate.

...

But really.

Before I got into lolita, while I was in university, I wore a lot of jeans and t-shirts or sweatshirts because I didn't care about getting paint, charcoal, ink, or pastels on them. High school was much the same because I took a lot of art-related courses and was a huge jock. It wasn't practical, nor appealing to me, to dress up every day when I knew that I'd be a mess by the end of it.

Plus, I didn't like fighting 20 some odd other girls in the bathroom each morning after early practice for mirror space and outlets. To this day, I don't understand how they managed to all get their hair straightened, curled, and make-up done without clawing one another's eyes out in front of the scant three mirrors we had.

These days, when I'm not in lolita, I'm pretty "business casual" most of the time. Work does that to me. It's not too nice, though. I work in a print shop that's pretty damn old school and runs two color offset presses than are over 25 years old. Messy stuff, sometimes.

Before i was lolita i was into visual kei, but that was WAY back in the day like 6 years ago.

Normal day to day wear for me is like toned down lolita with no peticoat. I never wear pants because there extremely uncomfertable.

It gratifies me far more than it should to have someone other than me say that skirts are comfortable after all these years.

Still in transition stage! I mostly wear skinnies, flats, and a blouse or cardigan. Pretty generic stuff. I'm working on including more "loli" stuff intoooo my day-to-day wear, however.

It is pretty hard to say since I did already wear lolita dresses (or something very close to it) since the age of 5 years. However, in my school time I had to wear a uniform mosttimes so I don't had that much "fancy" clothes besides sweaters and blouses besides the lack of money for it.

Before I discovered Lolita, I dressed in 'Grunge'.
Torn apart jeans, flannel shirts over worn out band shirts and sneakers.
I still do dress that way when I'm not in Lolita so to see me on two separate occasions is like meeting two different people. (Or so I've been told.)

I followed every trend in middle school, from the short skirts to the Hot Topic pants. In high school and college I turned a bit prep and stayed that way for years, gradually getting fancier and fancier. Now, I'm kinda like H&M and Wet Seal meet casual lolita. Skinny jeans, ruffles and a mini crown. Cause I'm fabulous. wink

*in fact, see avi below. Darken the hair to a dark chocolate color with light pink underneath, add brown eyes, and that's pretty much me...*

My fashions change over time. In high school, I wore jackets, t-shirts, chokers, and jeans. Now, when not wearing lolits, I wear dress pants, long jackets, schoolgirl-esque outfits, skits in summer, nice blouses...my fashion sense is rather diverse...Lolita sneaks into my everyday fashion too.

Before I turned Lolita I was really into dressing in a mixture of avant guarde masculine glam(similar to david bowie) and "scene kid" style with the skinny jeans and studded belts.

Before Lolita, I wore all black and casual.
Sometimes punk, Like Misa Amane when she's not wearing Lolita.
Goth, I suppose.
