Szinaun did not really stop to think about what he had done until after the door was closed and the two men had taken refuge in his room. The one clothed in green had flopped himself in the lone chair in the room, and the slender male bedecked in plain grey garments had knelt on the floor near the green cloaked males feet looking utterly exhausted. Szinaun heard the cloaked males thanks as he bolted the door firmly. He turned slightly to look at the man. He really did not look so well at all. "You are...welcome..." He hesitantly replied. To help calm his nerves Szin swept his fingers through his lavender hair and crossed over to the small window cut into the wall of the room. Unhooking the latch, he poked it open with a single finger and leaned against the window sill where he could watch the street from the direction they had come running from. Thus far he saw no signs of pursuit. Szin kept his eyes focused outwards as he considered just how to respond to the comment of 'who ever you are'. That was a opening for a name, but..Szinaun could not offer his true name. He just couldn't. So then? What?

"I am... Anon." He quietly spoke as he watched out the window. Anon...flower... it was the name that Lird had dubbed him with when he showed relculance at that time as well to share his name. It would suit now as well he supposed. Now that he had the men here, what was he to do now? He had not thought this through very well had he?

Following after the skirt garbed male, Kyil was happy when they reached the room and the door behind them was locked. he finally felt a sense of relief, and his trembling knee's folded to lower him to the floor. He choose to kneel near to Mikaril, just to stay close to his friend as their strange savior moved to the window. Kyil had taken pride in his own unique eyes, but this other male...In compare Kyil felt plain. The male introduced himself as Anon...flower? His pale colored hair seemed too true a tone to be dyed. And such eyes...he had never seen eyes that color before. Who was this Anon? Kyil shifted on the floor and glanced up at where Mikaril sat in the chair. Now that they were safe and had escaped... "We should not linger here too long. Someone will surely come searching for us.
PostPosted: Sat Aug 15, 2009 9:19 pm

Focusing primarily on catching his second wind, Mikaril nodded once and watched as the male walked to the window and looked out. Judging by how quietly he stared out, and making no move to rush the two of them out of the building, he must not see any signs of immediate pursuit. So much the better; it seemed far more likely that Nuumia would send the guards to watch the nearest gates, in case they tried to leave the city. He could only hope that Nuumia wasn't aware of the restrictions on metal that the city's portals had and would waste time and bodies covering those too.

"Anon", Mikaril muttered to himself. Flower. Well, if any drow ever looked like a flower it was this one; his silky dancer's clothes draped about him like petals, his solid green eyes like the tiny delicate leaves of new buds, even the subtle tints of his hair. He seemed more suited for life in a high-ranking house, higher by far than House Torlyl; what was he doing staying at an inn in the city? Ah well, it was none of his business, and he didn't really feel like prying. Besides, some might think the same of him with his cloak and fancy armor.

Feeling as though he ought to return the favor, Mikaril gestured to Kyil as he was sitting on the floor beside him.
"This is Kyil, and I'm Mikaril-" He was about to say his customary last name, but he paused to consider. He was leaving that name behind him as soon as they were away from the city, and he needn't publicize it any longer. He used to have it for protection when he was younger, silently suggesting the wrath of a house falling on anyone who would harm him. But he no longer needed it, and right now, he decided that the first stop to complete disownment would be to disown the name itself. But knowing that he had cut off in mid-sentence, and their host probably knew it too, he finished with, "Formerly of House Torlyl." There; at least that would indicate to Anon that he had rescued more than a mere pair of thieves.

Looking down at Kyil, Mikaril nodded, though he wished he could stay slumped in that chair for a little longer; maybe a week or so.
"Yes, they will be looking for us, but they may not try the inns first, especially since an inn was where they captured us to begin with. In all likelihood they will be searching the gates first. But nevertheless," he said as he turned his head toward Anon, "Regardless, they might still try here, and I don't think either myself or Kyil would wish harm on you, especially when it is meant for us."

Szin's eyes were drawn to the pair as the pink eyed one spoke of leaving. Well, if they were fleeing it only made sense to continue running. Actually Szin was heartened a bit by the pair's interest in moving on rather then menaceing him. He really should have thought before he acted...but it had seemed like the right thing to do. Lird most likely would have shaken his head at him and called him foolish. Such thoughts warmed his cheeks and placed a faint smile on his lips. The green cloaked one introduced the pink eyed one and then himself with a slight hitch. Was the pause on account of him tossing mentally for a false name? Szin knew little of the Houses of the underdark, save the obvious dangerouse ones that he had only heard of from tales. Thus far he had a deep rooted fear of ever going to the infamouse Menzoberazzan.

He could only go on what the other was willing to share with him, and Szin was unwilling to question that right now. But if he did not get any answers to obvious question's it could lead to a very uncomfortable situation later. "House Torlyl. Is that the House you just ran from?" Szin asked between peeks outside the window. "If they are to search, I do not think they will come here right away. Does this House have enough power to forcibly search guest rooms? You and your servant can rest here a bit otherwise. I do not believe I will be in much more danger then normal. My traveling companion will be gone for a few hours so...well... by the time the do get to the inn's searching I am sure he will be back and he is quite capable of protecting me."

Kyil closed his eyes for a moment and placed a pair of fingers against one of his temples. Mikaril had a point. The gate ways would surely be watched soon. If they did not leave now then the odds would be that they would not beat the guards to the gateways. At the same time though, he needed a rest. The tension from creeping through the House, and their near capture had resulted in a mild headache and a weak feeling in his legs. he needed to just rest. To sit still and allow his body to recover from the terror of their escape. How did Mikaril find such danger attractive? Kyil opened his eyes as Mikaril introduced him, and Anon continued to speak. It was...amuseing in a way when Anon picked up on his relationship with Mikaril. With a faint smile of his own, Kyil nodded his head. "Anon has a point. In order to go searching all the rooms of Inn's in the area, one would need to hold a great deal of importance. Before we had been basically tagged and followed, so only one room needed to be entered. Still, I would not put it past those seeking us out to not try anyways." Kyil's eyes lifted to look at Mikaril. He was concerned for the others health. He was not certain if Mikaril was recovered enough to continue their mad dash, yet how could he shake off the fearful tingle gripping him whenever Szin glanced out the window. He was waiting to see the petite male stiffen upon seeing some form of chase coming. "I can not speak for master Mikaril, but I feel it would be unfair to bring your protector into our troubles. You have helped us immensely though, and I am grateful on my part for your aid."

Mikaril found himself genuinely relieved that his name seemed to have no effect on Anon's features; meeting someone unfamiliar with his House helped with disowning it, but he also found himself wondering exactlyhow familiar their rescuer was eith the city iteself. Torlyl was by no means the most powerful house, but it was definitely high enough in status to have city-wide recognition. Was Anon just a traveler, passing through the city just as they were making their escape? If so, his timing seemed even more incredible. Mikaril wondered for a brief moment in the sheer coincidence of it, and whether or not it had been a coincidence at all. Had Lolth actually taken pity on them and sent Anon there just in time? Right; the day that happened, Haellara would give up bloodshed and dedicate herself to helping the city's waifs.

He nodded as he looked Anon in the face, finding it remarkably easy to focus on his eyes.
"Yes, that was the House we just came from. We have been prisoners there for quite some time; I'm not exactly sure just how long. But we managed to make it out with your help; I doubt we would have gotten another chance if we had been recaptured. Again, you have both of our thanks." He nodded as he closed his eyes again; apparently Anon agreed with his own thoughts on the matter. Nuumia would undoubtedly think they would leave the city straightaway and thus try the gates first. And he had not taken into consideration the fact that despite what had happened last time, any number of guards would be hard-pressed to get permission to search every room, even the first House itself. Just because it was a city of drow didn't mean the concept of privacy and rules was entirely in abandon.

Mikaril opened one eye to peer at Kyil as his friend spoke. Poor Kyil; he looked positively drained. The both of them could really use a breather, and if what Anon said was true, and this companion of his was not due back for a few hours.....perhaps a compromise could be reached without imposing on either of them. He was certain that both him and Kyil stood little chance of making it out of the city in the shape they were in; a few hours of rest would work wonders. Closing the eye again, he spoke up.
"We are both exceedingly weary, and we hate to trouble you further, Anon, but the both of us could really use a little rest. If your room mate is not due back for a few hours, we can always leave before he returns; he needn't even bother with us. Of course, the final decision is yours, and I will not press the matter if you would rather we leave sooner, or right away. It just.....makes an impression on me being rescued by someone who wants nothing in return. It makes you emanate an aura of safety, which is like a cool drink after a trek through a volcanic trail." Half-smiling at his own unexpected choice of words, Miakril fell silent and unmoving, thoguh his ears were keenly listening for the other's reply.

Kyil allowed Mikaril to speak for him. Whatever he decided Kyil would be more then content to follow along with. Mikaril had never let him down after all, all their troubles were his own fault. It was only a few moments really that they needed. Enough time to catch a second wind and prepare for their second escape attempt. If only there were other ways out of the city besides the gates! He supposed if there were such pathways, Mikaril would already be aware of them, being a thief and all. He must have combed the entier city in his earlier years. Still...shouldn't he be a bit more wary of seemingly non-threatening drow that appeared out of nowere? Nuumia had seemed so very innocent and gentle. He had learned how untrue that impression was personally, not that he would speak of it to anyone. No, it would be best if he allowed those pains to remain left in the past. Mikaril had his own agonies to deal with and he was really the only one that Kyil felt he could open up to in such a manner. When Mikaril mentioned leaving in a few hours in his discussion with Anon, Kyil closed his eyes and slumped a bit more against the wall. He placed one hand gently over his bag as an assurance that it would remain untouched, and closed his eyes. If they were so safe that Mikaril felt they could rest here, then he would allow himself to sleep lightly until such time that they would leave. He was sure he detected the tone of weariness in his masters voice as it was. " Perhaps a short rest would do us good master. We've come so far now, we deserve a moment of peace before striking out on what will most likely be a harried journey."

Szin kept his semi-diligent watch on the window. His green eyes marked with ease a pair of running figured below. For all his worries, the pair could have been running for entierly different reasons really. All the same Szin lifted his battle fan, and with it half closed, he waved it gently out the window. He listened with half a ear to Mikaril while summoning up a pair of small air elementals. The small fluttering moth figures danced through the darkness to follow the path of the running males, just in case they were indeed members of house Torlyl on the search for the two fugitives. "You have my sympathies Mikaril and Kyil. It is a terrible thing to be entrapped, I am grateful to the Goddess that I had been passing then. Being able to lend my meager aid to those in need..well..." Szin pulled his eyes from the window so he could glance to the chair where Mikaril sat and where Kyil slumped. "It does my spirit well to simply do some good."

Szin paused for a short period of time to consider the pair of tired drow. He simply couldn't rush them on. Lird would be gone for a bit, doing whatever task was needed in the city, and he surely would not be bothered if the pair took a short rest. "It is of no inconvience to me. Please, rest for a bit. You can even use the bed if you like to rest more comfortably. I will stay at watch here at the window and waken you if I suspect your pursuers may have found you out. I can cloak your path of escape easily as before even." Szin's hand lifted to gesture out the window. "The window can provide a quick escape route across the rooftops. So worry not and rest easy."
PostPosted: Sat Aug 29, 2009 11:41 pm

Inwardly sighing with relief at their not being turned away, Mikaril nodded and reached out to place a hand on Kyil's shoulder. "All the time we were hiding out in the house, you let me have the cot; you should have the bed if you feel you can sleep comfortably in it, Kyil." At that moment, Mikaril felt that he could sleep standing up, he was so worn out. He did have a slight nagging sensation of dejavu concerning innocent-seeming drow, but then he reasoned that while Nuumia had fallen down to them and they had helped him, in the case with Anon, it had been the other way around. HE had helped THEM out of a tight spot; if anything, Anon should be worried about the two of them doing something. Like Nuumia, they both looked tired and weak, but who's to say that they would be shamming and intend to take full advantage of their host's unexpected kindness? Lucky for him, they really were tired, and had no intention of doing him harm.

With that, Mikaril closed his eyes and tried to sleep, but he found that his mind had no intention of shutting itself off anytime soon. He realized that he had been given a third confirmation that their rescue was not a coincidence. Anon had thanked the Goddess that he had been there to save them just in time for them to avoid being dragged back to the House, stuck full of sleep darts. But....the rest didn't seem to fit. Meager aid? Doing some good? As far as he knew, Lolthites never had what they deemed 'meager aid', or at least didn't admit it if they did. And Lolth was not a Goddess of good, but of chaos. Could this green-eyed drow really have been sent by Lolth to help them? That made even less sense; seemingly helping them after being against them for so long. He swore a few times when he had been reeling from the drugged sleep in the playroom that he had seen her, peering down at him and laughing while her eight spider legs clacked dangerously close to his ears and making his head throb with the awful sound. But then again, Lolth was foremost a Goddess of chaos; perhaps it was her own, twisted will that set them free at the very last minute.

Keeping his eyes closed, he spoke out softly, so not to wake Kyil if he had gone to sleep already. He was certain that if Kyil found out that he was talking instead of resting, he himself might boycott sleeping until he was certain Mikaril himself was asleep first.
"Anon.......when you speak of thanking the Goddess.....I don't suppose you would know why.....she had you rescue us?"

It took Kyil a moment of obvious debate before he would nod his head at Mikaril. Silently the exhausted drow rose to his knee's and litteraly slid himself over the covers of the bed. Szin watched this from the corner of his eye, and took note that the pink eyed drow's movements exhibted a great deal of tenseness. He could only assume the other had been stressed by the escape and was hardly surprised that Kyil did not take the time to cover himself up. Though a faint 'thanks' did whisper from his lips before Szin was positive the other male had fallen asleep. had the thanks been for him or Mikaril? Perhaps it had been for both.

Szin let his green eyes fall to the street below and he shifted on the windowsill. He rather wished he had the foresight to lay a pillow or blanket over the windowsill before he had sat down so he would have had a more comfortable seat. Shifting once more, he blinked as Mikaril spoke. he had expected the other drow to have drifted off to speel as well after all. Instead he found himself being asked a rather uncomfortable question. Szin's green eyes darted over to where Mikaril was sitting, and he reached a hand up to twist his fingers against the material of his scarf as it rested against his shoulder. Oh dear...how did he answer this now? He simply could not lie. He could not risk speaking truthfully though. Szin's lips pressed together tightly as he tried to think of a honest answer that would not lead to terrible things.

"I...would not know the Great Lady's intentions Mikaril. Maybe she did not intend for me to rescue you at all. Perhaps it was just a fluke, but I can be grateful to her for the chance that was presented and credit her for the good fortune that led to my passing by at that time."
PostPosted: Sun Sep 06, 2009 8:51 pm

Mikaril managed a ghost of a smile as he both heard and saw Kyil getting up wordlessly to take the bed. His tiredness was only made more obvious by the way he didn't even cover himself, but lay sprawled on the bed. He heard the tiny thanks and likewise wondered who it had been for, but he shrugged inwardly; it hardly mattered. What mattered was that his friend got as much sleep as he could between now and the time they would have to leave the city. All the preparation and most of the packing had fallen to him, and he probably hadn't had much time to relax, sneaking around the house in fear of being spotted by a vigilant guard, or even Nuumia himself. But for now, it seemed as though luck was smiling upon them. But was it merely luck?

As he heard Szin's answer, Mikaril couldn't contain a snort.
"Great Lady...." Lolth seemed as much a great lady to him as Haellara did. He shook his head sadly, opening his eyes halfway to watch the figure at the window. "It must have been a fluke, because she hates me. All my life she's hated me. I might as well just give up....... But she must hold you in some esteem for you to speak so highly of her, and without any females around to make sure you speak proper reverance. Is it alright if I ask how you came to have her favor? You must have it, what with all those abilities you showed when we escaped from the house."

He knew he was probably being annoying with all of his questions, and indeed, juding by the tenseness of Anon's shoulders, he was causing the drow some measure of discomfort, but he simply had to know whether or not there was a means of being in Lolth's favor despite his being male. Part of him was telling him to forget all about Lolth and wanting to please her, that it was hopeless and he might as well forsake deities and their fickle demands, and yet the tiniest shred, the same shred that always had begged him to give his mother one more chance to show him some affection or pride, was insisting that if there was a way, he would probably risk anything (except Kyil of course) to know what it was.

It had not worked. Mikaril had not taken his answer for what it seemed and fallen silent. Szin could feel a dappling of sweat upon his temple as he stared dowanwards into the street. Instead his rescued subject spoke spitefully and in a manner that made him assume that the Lady Szin spoke of was Lloth. Somehow, merely allowing Mikaril to think that of him made him feel more uncomfortable then anything else he could think of. Szin's eyes lifted a little as Mikaril spoke with such obvious pain.

Could he lie? Should he even? There seemed to be a...desperateness in his words. He wished to know how he obtained favor. How he held a place of cherished position with the wrong Goddess. How did he answer this without...placing himself in such danger? He supposed..he could leap out the window if need be. Lird would be furious with him for certain...

"The Great Lady..." He began, then paused. Uneasily, Szin ran his tongue over his lips and tried to move his heavy tongue. Fear made things that were normally so easy to accomplish seem like great tests of strength and will. Szin inhaled in an attempt to clear his lungs and began again. "The Great Lady does not hate you. She has never hated anyone who has been in need. She...Loves us. She has never shown me her favor personally, but I have felt the warmth of her intentions when in service to her. I believe she guides me, even though I am not aware of her desires." He wanted to look at Mikaril, wanted to see if there was any sort of fear or disgust or distrust in his features. Carefully Szin drew his battle fan and lifted it up before him. He kept the blades closed while uneasily inspecting the elegant weapon's edges. "I am merely a wind mage. The elementals of the Auran Plane at times lend me their aid when i open a pathway for them to come. That is all you saw today."
PostPosted: Sun Sep 06, 2009 11:22 pm

"Loves us?" Mikaril let his obvious doubt and disbelief show in those two words. "That doesn't sound like Lolth at all. Even females like my sister have never spoken of her loving them; just showing them favor. And she takes it away at the drop of a hat. And we males don't even stand a chance, or at least, I thought we didn't. Though since you say you're a mage, that means you get your powers from the planes, not the Goddess. I should have known that; I apologize." He sighed and let his head fall back upon the chair. So that was it; there was no hope. Doubtless this male had another means of finding his warmth and love; certainly not from any Goddess. Ah well, everybody had their delusions; goodness knows he had clung to so many in the past.

He suddenly found himself feeling even more drained than he had ever thought possible. The events of the past several months weighed heavily on him; a rothe sitting on him would have felt lighter. He had placed his friend in danger, almost gotten them killed, all to find out that his mother was dead, his sister was thriving and triumphant, and there was no hope left for him spiritually. Of course he would escape the city and flee with Kyil to start a gang, but then what? Someday he was going to meet the business end of a dagger or some other end, and he would leave Kyil forever and spend an eternity suffering for nothing and everything. He remembered the conclusion he had reached down in the dungeon as he had awaited his execution; bold and frightening words then, sad and despairing words now. Lolth hated him, his sister hated him, and the words of this drow, who so adamantly believed that Lolth could somehow distribute love to males.....it was like trying to swallow a reviver.

Indeed it seemed as though he was trying already; he felt a lump in his throat, and his chest felt tight.
"I really want to believe you, but.....I think you're mistaken. Please understand; I'm grateful and all, but........ from one male drow to another, I don't think Lolth is capable of love. She might have been once; she did lead us down here in the beginning after all, but.....I guess it stopped somewhere. Either that or she's harsh with us because of something we did."

Oh...oh Goddess... Szin felt a sour sickness roll in his stomach. Mikaril's words were simply fraught with such negative emotions. He wanted to reach out and touch the other. Instead he tightened his grip on his fan to steel his nerves. "I do not speak of the Spider Goddess." His throat felt rather tight and his voice small as he spoke. What more could he say now? That surely was to the point and left no questions...aside from the one that surely would follow such a comment. Szin carefully turned his green eyes from his fan and to where Mikaril laid so...limp and hopeless like.

"The Great lady...the Moonlight Maiden. It is she who loves me. The Spider Goddess...she never. What I mean is... I do not wish to speak...out of turn. I... It is just... The Spider Goddess needs no reason to be cruel, save for her own amusement. Do not ever believe it is something you or any other male may have done."
PostPosted: Mon Sep 07, 2009 12:11 am

In spite of his eyes being half-closed, Mikaril didn't miss the tightening of the other's hand and thought he had finally spoken out of turn. But at Anon's words, his eyes suddenly opened all the way. "You're.....not speaking of Lolth?" The sheer moxy surprised him; part of Undrek'Thoz even had a law where anyone who worshipped a deity other than Lolth were hunted down and executed. He noticed the strain in the other's voice and suddenly realized the reason; he himself was a strange drow that Anon knew little about other than the fact that he was from a house that obviously worshipped Lolth. He probably thought that he and Kyil would take tales to the city guards or even to the house they had fled from in exchange for some sort of pardon. He felt a wash of disgust, not at himself or Anon, but at the need for always being so damn closed and secretive.

But now here was something new and no less confusing for Mikaril to ponder and bother poor Anon with questions.
"Moonlight Maiden? I've never heard of her, and what's a moonlight? And by the way, I get it now; you think I might be a Lolthite ready to jump on you because you might not be faithful to Lolth." Chuckling at the very idea, Mikaril waved his hand feebly. "I tell you right now, even if I was someone like that, I wouldn't have the strength to go very far with tales; we had a rush going for us when we escaped with you, but now.....I doubt I'd be able to get up right now." He probably could, if his life was really in danger, but he didn't think that was the case here, and who knew; it might serve to set their host at ease somewhat. In any case, he was easily less than half of his usual strength at the moment.

"Well, if it will make you feel any better about me telling tales, I can always tell you one you can use against me in turn. I used to love the Spider Goddess as best I could, but now it seems as though she doesn't care a whit in spite of it, and yet I feel so bad for feeling that way, since she was the one who helped our kind become how we are today, survivors in the harshest element." He smiled sadly at Anon. "There; not only am I a doubter, but I'm ungrateful too."

Szin felt a heavy settling fall over him as Mikaril spoke. "No." His answer was only a faint whisper of a sound. He could not stop looking at the other male, and he could not still fearing him now. His actions had placed him in a precarious position. He had taken a risk by saving the boys. he had taken a risk by bringing them here. And he had taken the biggest risk by speaking so honestly. It was...far too late to take it back. Did he wish that though?

Looking at Mikaril and hearing his weary words...Szin was not so certain. As Mikaril would come to a pausein his words, Szin partedhis lips to try and form a reply. "I..." What could he say now? He was not trained for this!

"I am not a priest...nor am I trained in religious...discussions like this. Please, forgive me for my hesitation. I just....I can not quote to you the way a priestess could. All I can tell you is what I have been taught, and what I feel inside." He inhaled slowly and reached for the shutter to pull it closed. He could not speak about these things with the window open.

"Moonlight...it is hard to explain to one such as yourself. I can only imagin from your question you have never seen the moon." Szin opened his fan halfway and turned it over in his hands. "The moon...imagin it as a very bright silver coin, high in the sky, beyond your reach. So high above it is almost impossible to believe it can be seen from such a distance. Now, in the darkest cavern, this coin shines with a very gentle light, as pale as the purest faiery fire. It is soft and cool. Standing in it surrounds you with a sensation of gentle illumination." Szin paused as a fond and homesick smile pulled at his lips. The lids of his eyes slowly lowered halfway over his green eyes. "The Moonlight Maiden is Lloth's daughter, oft known as Elistraee. She defy's her mother's will you see. She cherish's males as equal as females. She loves the drow and wish's to give us a better place in the world. A place where we may live happily."

With his eyes still half closed, Szin gently spread the blades of his fan completely, so he could look at his own reflection in the three silver blades. "The Maidens mother has taught the drow how to be harsh and cruel...she has created a world that only the cold hearted can survive in. It is a hell of her own weaving...for her own amusement. Elistraee would change all of that for us."

As Anon would speak of religious discussion and priestesses, Mikaril felt his insides beginning to turn in a rather nasty way, and he found himself looking over at Kyil's sleeping form, the steady rise and fall of his chest giving him a tiny bit of calm that only seemed to fix his total discomfort the way a bandage fixed a dead body. "It's okay Anon; to tell you the truth, I really don't want to be quoted to. I've had words spoken to me and screamed at me by priestesses all my life; theirs is a whole other point of view I probably don't want to understand, and am denied anyway." He looked back at Anon at the sound of the shutters closing; the action itself didn't bother him; rather it seemed a small measure of comfort that their host didn't seem to see the need any longer for watching the streets for signs of pursuit.

He then tried to imagine what this moon was like. He imagined a silver coin hanging in an empty void, shining like a little pinpoint of light. It was kind of hard to focus on the beauty of an object when it was supposedly hanging in a sky so high that one could not see what lay beyond the condensation forming up above. It made him shudder a little; that was one of the things that scared him teh most in the surface world tales; no reliable roof above your head. Just you walking around like a spider on a wall; how was it nobody just drifted away? But still, he always loved soothing glows, and this moon seemed to remind him of the magical jewelry he had so loved to hoard inside his sanctuary so that they could feel the space with their own gentle glow. At least now he had them to take back with him.

The mention of Eilistraee set Mikaril mentally on his heels again, but he didn't feel the strength to react as much as he might have a few months ago.
"Ah yes, I think I might have heard of her once or twice from my sister; never favorably. She had said that she was a weak deity, a soft one, and that she lures drow to the surface with promises of a 'better life', only to be slaughtered by the surface elves, who funnily enough we are supposed to get along with, according to her." There was bitterness in his voice, and a flat tone of resignation. "Either way, it seems hopeless; one's hard and demanding, and the other wants us to make peace with the ones who drove us here and who to this day seek to wipe us all out if we so much as stick our noses up there." He closed his eyes again, and felt the cooling wet of two tears, one trickling out of each eye. "I don't think I can ever find happiness like that."

Well, he supposed that this would make it easier. Perhaps if he just spoke from his own viewpoint and skipped the whole 'religious talk' he would do fine? "Then I guess this will be a easy enough conversation." He tried to smile, but it really was hard to do so when your stomach was tied up in knots.

"I would not expect anything nice to be said about my Goddess" He would admitt after a moments thought. "It would undermine everything in this society to admitt that there was another option to you all. I mean, if a male knew he had a choice between the forced subserbiance to Lloth, and a supposed terrible death by hate filled savages I am certain the choice for a longer life would win out." Szin's head slowly shook back and forth as Mikaril would speak about surface elves and their reactions to drow on the surface. "We are not like that. I mean, we do have our fair share of fear of underdark drow. Sadly, many drow that come to the surface do not do so with peaceful desires. So in those cases the violence they are met with is true...though it is not just the elves that attack raiding drow. Humans, dwarves, and gnomes all react the same way and it is sad that such is the result. I can tell you personally though, no 'luring into slaughter' is part of the Goddessess plan. She honestly does wish for us to live peacefully on the surface."
