Emiko hadn't been on her own for almost two months now. She'd grown a little bit too used to being surrounded by others always and waking up every morning to the hustle and bustle of a herd. She'd grown too accustomed to saying her good nights to all of her small herd before bedding down. She know that maybe wasn't the best thing, since she always knew in the back of her mind that she'd be back where she started. She was naive, but she wasn't stupid. Something just didn't last. She hoped that this would, but it couldn't. Things were always changing, and this was no different. She had to just grow a spine and get along with her life. Istas had denied her and her father had taken Istas. Her "family" was no more. It was finished the second Claude decided to take Istas from her.
She sighed and looked up through the foliage of the small woods across the land from her old home. It was another conversationless meal of slightly bitter grass. This was sweet grass, it should have been sweet. But since her departure, everything had taken on a bitter tang. She'd go back, if her pride didn't whimper at the idea. They wouldn't take her after her little show. Not after her tantrum. No. She ad to make her own now. She didn't know how, but she would.

Not too far away the bushes were rusteling, it sounded like someone was stuck in them, even though they weren't. Abloec was using his horns and height when reared up on his hind legs to snag the fruit in the trees there. The rustleing came from the tugging on the branches. He had managed to get a fair pile of apples and cherries, plenty for two in fact but no one was with him.
He had grown up in the desert, and had learnt young to be able to look after himself. How he had gotten to the island was anyones guess at this point but he was looking into it bit by bit, especially now he had gotten more used to his surroundings. So he wandered and met people, and maybe one of those would have a clue. But till then he was happy to take the days as they came. And today was a good day with a huge pile of fruit.

Emiko's stomping came to a halt as she heard a growl from her belly. She prused her lips and looked around. She didn't really know how to get food. She scavenged before she met Claude, and by that she stole from others. She'd been with Claude enough to know now that that was wrong, and she didn't feel comfortable doing that any longer. She huffed and kicked a rock as hard as she could, which wasn't that hard. claude had ruined her life, not only with him, but he'd made sure that she couldn't support herself. That was his master plan. He wanted to make sure she was helpless by herself so she ahd no choise but to go back to him and be abused. Not that she'd give him that kind of satisfaction. No, somedayhe'd find her withered corpse, and he'd know that she died by his hand. It was his crippling possesion that drover her to starvation.
The one sound that outrung her grumbling stomach was the rustling of the tree. She looked towards it and cocked her head to the side. Trees didn't generally move on thier own, did they? She'd never been this far from home, so for all she knew they danced int he golden sunlight. that, of course, didn't seen very logical, and besides, today was an overcasty day. So there would be no dancing in the golden sunlight for anyone. Her stomach soon growled a new at the scent of fruit. Her nostrils flared as the crisp sweetness of apples caught her attention, undertoned with tart, sugary cherried. Like whispy hands, they brought her around the tree towards them.
It may have been the most magnificent sight she'd ever beheld. This was more fruit then she'd ever seen in her life! Even with her family, they all ate sparingly. It wasn't that they had little to eat, they just all ate like birds. She could eat four serving s of what she got at home, but she felt rude asking, ever since Claude taught her about manners. This was more her speed. Half would do her just fine for a while. Oh, the smell of the pile opf riches before her lulled her into a trance like state. Two days without food had made her absolutley ravenous! Her stomach brought her back to reality as she reached for a peice. It also brought to her attention the bespecled stallion before her. She straightened up quickly and blushed brightly. Perhaps he hadn't seen her so she could sneak away...

Abloec had noticed the young mare, but he let her notice him before saying anything, he had surprised and scared others but talking first. Being green he was getting used to blending into everything fianlly. Smiling in his usual laid back manner. "Help yourself, I always get more than I need" His voice low and gentle, with an unusual accent which marked him as a foreign soquili.
The fruit was actually piled on a blanket that matched his colours. Usually he wore it on his back but he had planned on taking some fruit to a mare he had met not too long ago, her and her mate were with foal and he had wanted to help out. "Seriously, if your humgry dig in, I can get more.." Leaning over the blanket and shaking his head a little the twigs with the fruit coming free and landing on the pile. His horns reveald he proceeds to carefully pick up the twigs and shake the fruit off of them.
Giving her a flash of a grin as he moves away from the pile to gather some more fruit. Giving this mare room to make her choices, as he looks for another good branch to pick on for fruit.

Emiko, who fancied herself quite stealthy, blushed a drew away as she was noticed. She opened ehr mouth to speak, but no words came forth. Her throught was raspy from it's uselessness of the past few days. She only smiled a small smile and gently nicked and apple from the pile. The juice served to lubricated ehr throat enough to speak, and the tang of the apple, however bitter as she precieved it, awakened her further. As she swallowed the fruit she finally found herself able to speak. "Emiko is sorry, sir," she began with the bow Claude had taught her, "but she has been on her own for several weeks now, and she hasn't quite gotten back into the swing of forageing." She blushed as she made her admittence.

Still smiling his usual easy going smile Abloec in turn gave a little bow to her. "Its quite all right, changes take time to get used to. So like I said feel free to help yourself to all you need." Straightening up and looking round again, spying a good branch that was within his reach. Moving over to get the fruit down, he proceeds to get his horns working again. His mane and fur sticky and stand where he had been gathering fruit ith his horns. This making him look a little scruffy, but overall the impression was that he was more tidy. The beads strung about him seemd to gleam and glow a little when the light hit them, while he fought with the branch, the fruit coming loose bit by bit.

Emiko popped a cherry from a twig. She took the stallion in with a scrutenizing eye she didn't always know she posessed. Turned to the side she spat out the pit, trying to be as polite as possible. She took in the sight of the food, which was far too much for himself, and there was no way he was expecting her to arrive. "Are you expecting someone," she asked, taking another apple. "If so, then you should definatley bath before they get here, it's important to present yourself well." She nodded gently, more to herself than anything. However, she was hardly one to talk, she noticed almost immidiately. She had been sleeping without shelter, and the elements had taken a toll on her coat.

Abloec chuckles as he wins against the branch, walking over to drop more fruit off. "No I'm not expecting anyone, a friend of mine has a newborn so I was going to take them some too, but there is plenty for everyone so dont be shy." Looking up at his fringe. "Mmm yes I do need to wash the juice off." Smiling and shrugging it off, not seeming offended. "Would you prefer me to wash?" Not seeming to mind the juice at the moment, it seeming rude to him to run off and bathe before he had even introduced himself properly. Definatly not going to mention that she was a little scruffy too, he had far more manners than that. Besides she seemd to have realised it anyway so mentioning it would only embarass her more. He didn't like people uncomfortable around him, he preferd them to feel at ease.

Emiko's eyes lit up at the sound of babies. "Oh, really? Emiko's -- " she stopped suddenly. My grandmother adores babies, she was going to say. But she couldn't afford to think of her family now that she was independent. "Emiko thinks that's lovley," she recovered with a slight grin. She picked up a few berries gently. It was his next question that made blush fiercly beneath her blue coat. "Emiko is dreadfully sorry, sir. That was rude of her. Sometimes Emiko doesn't think before she speaks." She bent her head forward. "They are good friends of yours, yes? Then Emiko thinks they will be happy to see you no matter what." It was her way of repairing the damage she had done. Of course, since her slip up she felt she was unworthy of eating anymore of the fruit he had picked. "Do you need help delivering the food? Emiko could help, she loves to help."

Abloec grins at her, bowing to her. "Its lovely to meet you miss Emiko, I'm Abloec. And any assistance you can give in carrying this would be welcome, though you will want to eat up more, if you faint from hunger I'll be very worried, besides if you land on them we will have juice." Not offended at all by anything she had said, infact her way of speaking in the third person was enchanting to him, he couldn't help but smile. "So please eat up miss and I will be happy of your help." His tone gentle and warm, turning to collect some dark berries from a bramble bush near by.

"Well, Emiko does not want to be rude," she mused gently, plucking up another two or five berries hungrily. "But Emiko does like juice. It's her favorite, as a matter of fact. Emiko once heard that you should wean a baby by giving them juice." She nodded thoughtfully, helpfully nudging the berries that had fallen off of the blanket back into place. "What is your mare friends name, may Emiko ask. She must be nice, because you are nice. Mean soquili don't normally have nice friends." Again, Emiko was just talking without thinking, and her words hit her after they left her lips. "Oh, Emiko is horrible with talk to others. She never things before she speaks." He beraded herself inwardly, promising to think harder before she spoke next time. She knew she wouldn't.

Abloec smiles and drops the berris on with the others, letting her eat as many as she likes, getting the impression she was more hungry than she was making out. "Oh her name is Keii and she is very nice, well I think so, but different soquili like different things, so not everyone would think so." Winking at her, not seeming to mind her slip ups, lowering his nose so he looked her in the eye. "Don't worry so miss Emiko, I don't bite and I only yell when theres an emergency, just be yourself and relax a little, it will be fine I promise you. Man others have much far worse manners than the odd statement that could be misunderstood." Smiling gently. "I took what you said as a complement to me, I am glad you think I'm nice, and therefore that my friends would be nice to." Bowing hi head and standing upright again his tone having been verey gentle and comforting. "And if you want to know, I think your nice too, and sweet and charming." Thinking that would probably make her flustered now but he felt it should be shared.

Emiko's ears popped at the mention of the mare. "Oh, Emiko knows Keii! She is the herd member of Akuba. Emiko's father is a good friend of his, and trained his daughter in the ways of knighthood!" She beamed, feeling lucky to meet someone so close to home. "Emiko met Keii once, she was very nice. But Emiko had no idea she was with child. Oh, she shall make a fine mother, a fine mother indeed. Emiko has no doubt about that." She nodded, as if her words were the last to be said on the subject and to be accepted as absolute truth. Because they were in her mind. She nosed out another five berries and ate them in turn, taking lady bites as she was taught.
"Perhaps you know my father? His name is Claude." She blushed and peered around. "He wouldn't look anything like me. He's all red and yellow with wings." She ahted saying that she was adopted. It made her feel like she didn't belong. So she kept that to herself. She was a part of the family, damn it. She was. She was. Even now that she had left she knew there was a place for her. Adoptions didn't have that. Adoptions were pariahs.

Abloec shakes his head sadly. "I'm afraid I do not know your father, though Stripe had told me she was training, but not with who. Though she has Keii's son all wanting to be a heroic knight." Smiling findly, clearly liking the herd that had made him feel welcome. "Its a shame though, your father sounds like an interesting fellow, maybe one day I will meet him." Looking over her face as the expressions change on it.
"And your absolutely right Keii will make an amazing mother, just a shame her partner is not around to help out." Looking at the berries, shaking his head, he owuld do this even if she wasn't alone but it just seemd wrong to father foals and leave.

We swapped to pm rp for a little while. Sweenys_Revenge Faid Shadowlight Sweenys_Revenge Emiko considered this. She did grow up with her parents, but they weren't really good to her. She wasn't exactly in the same boat as thsoe babies, but she was at least in the same body of water. "That is a tragedy," she said quietly. She hadn't been at the mountaintop long, but she had at least learned what it was to be a family. "Do you think Keii will accept Emiko's help in rasing the children? Emiko would love to help a little! Perhaps there Emiko will find what she is looking for!" Emiko nodded at that last statement, fighting back arising memories of her own childhood. It was funny how that could seem a lifetime away now. Like that wasn't her at all, just a really awful dream, and she'd woken up at long last. She shook herself from her musings and looked at the blanket. "Emiko think we have enough berries. This is quite a lot. are you ready to take them to miss Keii now?"
