I have a friend who expresses nearly all of the traits of an empath. She is extremely sensitive, often finishes peoples thoughts, and she is a great listener. However, she can do something that I don't think is normal. Every now and then I will feel what she is feeling. Being a medium, I am already open to things, but she seems to be able to send me "waves" of emotion. It can be very overwhelming; especially if I am watching T.V. or reading and suddenly get hit with this wall of emotion from her. Is there any name for this? Ways to control it?

hmmm, well that sounds like what empathes experiance when they pick up on someone elses feelings. you both are probly very connected because of your abilities and your friendship, so it might just be you picking up on her emotions, she might also be trying to get rid of a feeling she is haveing herself and is unknowingly sending it to u

Yes empaths can do this though it is some what rare. Though as panda said odds are at this time your one of the only ones she can do this to.
Alternetly we all have the abbility to do this to some exstent though this only ever works for people we are very close to twins and childern with there parents show signs of this all the time.
As for control the best way for her to control this is is to practice.
i would start with having her send you feeling from time to time so that she can tell the diffrence in the way it feels between sending and picking up emotions. Once she has a firm feel for sending try sending to other people. and when she can finaly do that try somthing even more difficult such as an actual thought or word.
Always watching.
