The sun had gone for the day replaced with a skinny sliver of a moon. Usually the waters of the pride had a silver glow in the full moon light and were murky black when there wasn't much of a moon, however, tonight they were aglow with light gold. It was quite a sight to see.
Swarms of fire flies seemed to have gathered over the waters and were lighting up the place in a surreal dance of lights.
Lucianus sat by the rocky banks of the Binadamu pride and couldn't help but watch this bizarre behavior of mating. He'd seen fire flies before but never had he seen swarms and never had he taken the time to actually sit and watch any of them. Lucianus couldn't help but secretly admire the dance of the glowing gold in a strange rhythm.
Though, to any on looker watching Lucianus, he looked bored and moody. A cleverly constructed mask of arrogance the boy had learned to wear at a young age. Now a days it just seemed natural. Still, every now and then the mask would slip a little or fall off completely.
Deep down Lucianus was still a cub, and no cub is born a full blown b*****d. That is learned over time.

-The day had come and gone taking with it most of the paint that the young lioness had applied to her pelt that morning. Now.. as the moon lit the darkened sky all that remained was a few flakes of color sticking to her legs, and silently the ivory cub had made her way to the waters edge.
Paws cupped water, rubbing it until all the color had disappeared, leaving behind only that small bit of purple that naturally tinted her eyes. A soft hum rose as she washed, and when finally she was done, her eyes lifted to her surroundings, not qualling the soft song on her throat. Her eyes delighted at the dancing lights that'd taken up the water's edge, like little stars fallen down from the sky, and she traced them happily, stopping only when she noticed the siloutte of a figure in the distance.
Dancing along after the fireflies, her hum only quieted when she drew close enough to call out in pleasant singsong.- "Good evening!"

Lucianus's mask slipped off as the other greeted him and surprise lay clearly on the boys face. He hadn't even noticed the other cub until the cub had greeted him. Lucianus blinked a few times, his mouth slightly agape, as he slowly tried to make sense of where the other had come from.
Was he really that out of it? The fireflies were amazing tonight....s**t. Lucianus was gonna need to practice his reaction to surprise.
"....." Silence followed him for a moment, he knew he was being greeted and that he should in turn greet back but the words lay frozen in his maw.
"..... You're stealthy!" Finally some words, but not the ones that he had intended. Lucianus shook his head, "No-no , I mean evening." Damn his nerves. The leopards tail twitched a bit. He'd never seen this female before. Had she just spawned out of thin air? Lucianus blinked again closing his mouth. He was really bad at socializing even with his own family. Part of the reason the leopard spent most of his time on his own.

-She seemed unphased by his inital silence and awkwardness, staring back at him with a mild smile as she simply waited... waited for him to respond. And when he did, the soft tones of a giggle escaped her.- "Thanks!"
-Stealthy was a kind of big word, but she'd picked out the meaning from the situation, and having heard it off hand once before. It was a nice thing to say she thought? So her smile onl seemed to grow.
Shifting on paws, she inspected the leopard cub softly.- "Are you watching the fireflies? I just took a bath."
"You don't look dirty enough to need a bath." -She stated kindly, matter of factly.-

Lucianus took a step back when she giggled. He blinked at her, was she mocking him? Obviously, some one had spent to much time around his family and not gotten to know what normal cubs were like. He let it go though. Nothing she said seemed to be mocking, but he was on high alert now. The leopards tail twitched and a brow was raised.
"No , " His tone was flat, "No, I don't think I need a bath. " He looked up at the fireflies. Was she amused that he had been watching them? Was that why she giggled?
"Yes," He looked at her, his face now a perfect smug mask, only his eyes gave away that he was a tad confused. "I just got distracted. Kinda hard not to look at them when they so rudely light up." He straightened him self , his composure folding over him self into a confident, arrogant, cub. Really, he was so confused by this cub before him. She seemed nice enough, but he didn't trust her.
"Just.. who are you any ways?"

"Rudely...?" -It was her turn to be confused, eyes lifting in soft surprise as she glanced from the lights in the sky back to the leopard cub.- "You don't like them..? I think they're beautiful."
-For a moment she pondered the conundrum. Why wouldn't he like fireflies..? Maybe he had been doing something really really important... and they'd kept him from that? She hoped SHE wasn't keeping him from something important! Worry touching her for a brief moment, her eyes and attention turning back to him when his voice rose again, and it was all quickly replaced with a smile once again.-
"I'm Candra. Nice to meet you!"

Lucianus thought they were beautiful too, but he wasn't going to out right say something that could be used as blackmail later. The white lion cub confused him by admitting she thought they were beautiful. Was she this good at being, as Lucian had now came to call it, civil?
"Lucianus," The cub gave his name like the other should know it. "I don't think I've heard of you Candra. " He titled his head at her, his orange orbs focused taking her in. She could be one of the Caesar's cubs. Atia said that the Caesar had a few female cubs, but this one was a little older then him. Either that or she was big for her age.
"I'm one of Atia's sons..." He through his mothers name out, like everyone should know it. It was no wonder why Lucian was often alone. He was to calculating for his age and formal.

"Lucianus" -She whispered the name softly, filing it away in her young mind with his appearance. Unfortunatley, she didn't know his mother yet, but she nodded nonetheless before answering her question, plopping her bottom down, making it clear that she thought she'd be staying for awhile.-
"I'm kind of new here. Nyao saw me and brought me here. I'm not really a daughter of anyone though."
"I am a slave though!" -She piped, far too excitedly and enthuastically for the term, her little tail waggling behind her.- "So if there is anything you need help with Lucianus I can help."

The leopard could have fallen over, a slave? Lucian had been around the pride a few times but he had never met a real slave before. Most of those had died , he heard, in the earthquake. Atia oftened complained about the lack of help around.
Lucian stayed composed though and really looked at her, "Your a slave ? " His tone was as if he was bored but really, he was interested. The leopards brows raised. "So, you gotta listen to what I have to say then?"
A long silence followed as he just stared at her. Even the lightning bugs couldn't get Lucian eyes off his new discovery. A slave? Do what ever he wanted?
"Okay, you can help me out with something. First, don't tell anyone I was down her or that you've met me. Second, you can meet me down here tomorrow." He looked back up at the flashes of light emitted from the fire flies. Really, he could relax a little bit. A slave? He had worried about a slave. Lucianus felt more at ease knowing this cub was not one of the Caesars.
Why he wanted to meet her here tomorrow, even he wasn't sure. Perhaps he could find out more about these slaves. Would serve useful.

"Ummm... yes, I think so." -She nodded, pondering softly. Due to her age.. so far her greatest tasks as a 'slave' had been playing with the Caesar and Nyao's children. And truth be told... if it hadn't been for tradition and the child's strange overly helpful and complient personality Nyao probably would have begged some other title for the child. But things had worked out.. and all were content for the time being. But Candra was trying to remember exactly all the things she'd been told about her special 'job'. Doing what others wanted her to do. Yes, that was definately part of it.
Her posture perked visably as he spoke, surprised, but nonetheless delighted to be of use so quickly.- "Keep it a secret. And come back tommorow?" -She asked softly, as if to confirm she'd gotten it correctly. That would be super easy!-
"Okay, I can do that!" -She smiled eagerly, toes kneading at the soft dirt excitedly. Maybe he'd have something super cool for her to do tommorow?-

Lucianus was more confused. This cub seemed so cheerful about taking his orders. What was her game. The leopard's thoughts stirred behind his mask. He wasn't sure if he completely trusted this one yet, but she seemed to be a good source about slaves.
His tail flicked in his frustration to figure this one out.
"Your.. strange," He finally said looking up at the flashes of light. No need for him to come out and say, I don't understand you.

-Candra had to try hard not to pout as she was caught off guard, her ears pinning back however. She wasn't sure... but it seemed a not so nice thing to say. Especially when she was just trying to be friendly and helpful.
Pausing, she glanced downwards as he glanced up.- "Oh...."
"I'm sorry. I don't mean to be."
-She wasn't sure what she was doing wrong, so maybe he'd tell her so she could fix it?-

The leopard looked at the lioness from the corner of his eye and felt something he hadn't felt before. Guilt. He felt bad and wasn't sure why.
"..." He stayed silent trying to figure out this new feeling of his and trying to figure out this lioness. The fact that he was the strange one never really dawned on him. He'd never been around normal cubs, not really.
".... Don't be sorry," He finally said after long moments. Sigh, why had he just told her not to be sorry? Strange. Still he felt bad. Usually his siblings would come back with a witty comment of their own, they were never sorry.
His tail twitched, "You.. you don't have to come back tomorrow if you don't want to." He looked back up at the flashing lights ,"I'll be here but... if you ... ummm.." The cub wasn't sure what he was trying to say. He wasn't sure why he was even giving the slave the option. So strange. Really, this cub was terrible at socializing.

-She perked slightly as she was 'comforted', her ears inching their way back up. And after a moment of thought, she offered lightly, smiling.- "I'm just not so good at being a slave yet I guess. I'll just have to practice more to get it right!"
-She was equally confused as his mind seemed to change, the once seemingly confident demand now waffling. And was that a sigh!?- "No no, I want to come!" -She pipped up in defense.- "I'll definately be here, and we can do something fun, okay?"
-Her soft blue eyes watched him intently, trying to catch anything from his face.-

Lucianus did not smile but his eyes lite up. Was he happy that she would be here tomorrow? The cub was a bit in shock she wanted to actually be around him. He felt his confidence build back up some.
"Course you do," His tone was flat but he was really happy. His arrogance was showing pretty vividly though as he straightened him self up. "You don't have to but I'll be here," He added, smirking. The smirk was not the happy kind as much as the arrogant and condescending. Honestly , it wasn't meant to come off that way, but being so trained and practiced by Atia had its toll.
Though Atia wanted Lucian to work on his pleasantries more and be more social. Maybe this cub knew what that meant. He'd find out soon.
"You know, as rude as those bugs are.. they seem to all be organized."
