a good song 4 beginners is probably that new greenday song 'know your enemy'. it helps build better strumming, and powerchords. plus the solo is simple and sounds sweet.

I think my first song on guitar was probally Wonderwall by Oasia since its pretty much simple chords throughout the entire song.

Any thing by Black Sabbath Smoke On The Water - Deep Purple Anything by Pink Floyd Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love, The Ocean, Heart Breaker, and Black Dog[harder] are all basically a repeated riff.

I wouldn't say Black Sabbath. There's a lot of good riffs you could probably learn easy but most will take more skill.
I'm surprised no one mentioned Smoke on the Water. The intro to that song was the first thing I learned how to play. XD

Paranoid- Sabbath, pretty easy. You Give Love a Bad Name- Bon Jovi... not that hard. Smoke on the Water, of course. All the Small Things- Blink 182 Alot of Green Day songs are pretty easy...

The first song I learned was Otherside from The Red Hot Chili Peppers. It's mostly picking and the solo is basically hammer-ons. nothing to it really.
