It was peaceful in park though Kauanoe was a little troubled. So much had happened lately and she didn't have anyone to talk to about it. In her hands she thumbled about with a small note. Carefully she unfolded and refolded it again. Reading the text only briefly. She had spent ages learning how to read, the basics were almost easy. This however was something different completely, it meant something....but with no one to thank. She'd asked about for some time but no-one had answered her.

Kauanoe turned to her dragon-cat as it pruned itself. Still nameless...but it followed her around none the less. It was early afternoon, but the young porcelain had already given up trying to escape the cat, but instead enjoy its company. Many a time she had tried to touch it or scare it off, both resulted in quite a few scratches. It didn't bother her anymore though, she was just glad of company.

Mizuki hadn't quite abandoned her 'child' this time around, she had left her here after hearing the udon-ya was closed, and most of the town's children, porcelain or otherwise dropped by the park.

Ruokei had taken to carrying a small notebook with him in a pouch wherever he went, along with a little pen. Mireille had picked it up specially for him - it was half the length of a normal pen when closed, but when he opened it and put the cap on the back, it became a full-size pen. He liked the shiny silver color as much as the portable size, and had chosen a pouch that had a small extra pocket for him to keep it in, so that he didn't mar the surface.

Today, as most days of late, he found himself wandering nearish to the udon-ya, enjoying the soft breeze of early afternoon. Sailien was his shadow as always, silently watching over Ruokei as the boy walked along in his dreams. The two stopped near to Kauanoe as Ruokei fished out his little notebook, scribbling something he'd thought of in it before replacing it and the pen back in the pouch. Closing it, he turned a bit and caught sight of the young porcelain girl. He hesitated, frowning a little over at Sailien as the zurui gave him a pointed stare. It was time to go over and say hello.

With an edge of nervousness, Ruokei approached Kauanoe, waiting until he was fairly nearby before offering a brush of greeting to her mind.

Within a few seconds Kauanoe was back to her curious self again.
Kauanoe is so glad Ruokei is here! Weird things has happened since Ruokei has been gone. Kauanoe wonders is Ruokei is doing well? On the young porcelains face was a huge smile although, as soon as she finished she wondered if she had said too many things at once already. Last time that had not gone so well, but then, things do change. They did get along last time or so she thought.

The feline dropped down climbing frame to land near Kauanoe. It seemed to say, that she was his, though it could be taken as he was already getting ignored. Kauanoe tucked the note into her robes to keep it safe, though still visible so she knew she hadn't lost it in an instance. With that she tried picking up the dragon-cat. She winced ready for the marks, but the cat didn't seemed as bothered with an audience, instead just climbed up onto her shoulder to watch.

Er...Kauanoe doesn't know dragon-cat too well. She passed on the information trying to hide her embarrassment both from the dragon-cat as well her outburst at the start.

So many questions all at once. Ruokei hesitated at the chatter, glancing once again at Sailien, who only sniffed in his direction once before padding off to find the darkest bit of shade he could. Near-constant friendship with the zurui from the time he'd been a kit allowed Ruokei to read his reaction well: Ruokei needed to start socializing more, and here was a lovely girl to socialize with.

Ruokei hesitated, then moved to sit down carefully near Kauanoe, hoping his movement might tell her that he had no immediate plans to flee.

Ruokei has been fine, came the first answer, the words careful as Ruokei thought about how to answer everything. There have been books to read, and Mireille has been teaching Ruokei how to read and write.

Though really, Ruokei reflected to himself, it wasn't so much teaching as giving homework. She still couldn't communicate with him really, except through human speech. And Ruokei was no good at that. So she handed him papers and trusted Sailien to explain the salient points.

Ruokei wonders what strange things have happened to Kauanoe?

Once she realised that her friend wasn't about to disappear off, Kauanoe calmed down again. Though more confident that she could talk freely with Ruokei that she originally thought. She was so distracted by what she had said and how Ruokei had responded, she had already assumed that the boy was as alone as she was. Which made her feel a little better but also a light amount seemed to come out in her thoughts. Still there was conversation to be had, a limited time to it.

Kauanoe has been learning to read too...harder than writing. Mizuki says writing is Kauanoe's talent. A feeling of pride swept over her, but then also a slight amount of guilt. Maybe she should of spent more time reading first.

Strange things....well Kauanoe found this note....She pulled out the little letter and passed it Ruokei. It seems to be for Kauanoe, but no-one said who wrote it. Mizuki made fun and said a ghost did it! What does Ruokei think?

Ruokei's eyes lit with delight at the thought of another writer, and he was all set to tell her that he, too, had started learning how to write, when she passed along the note. He took it, unfolding the paper carefully, and looked down. And a moment later, despite himself, he felt his cheeks glowing with bright color, warmth suffusing his face as he stammered out something that might've been:

...Not a ghost...

Kauanoe felt like she had just stabbed herself. Did she read the letter wrong? Did it say something bad to Ruokei? No it must be wrong, she took so long to read that. What had happened to her friend though. She bit her lip before trying to speak, though she was a little at it. "Ruo...kei?" Whats wrong? Do you have a fever? What do you need? She was already panicking, but without a clue at what was said, paranoia was also setting in.

A growled snap at the back of his mind from Sailien dragged Ruokei's attention up from the piece of paper, and he handed it back to Kauanoe sheepishly, not able to meet her eyes. He didn't want to give himself away, but if Kauanoe was fretting over whether or not a ghost had left it for her...

Ruokei... knows who wrote the note, he finally offered, squirming uncomfortably at the feel of her worry. His hands twisted together in his lap, fingers going a little red as he squeezed them tightly.

Kauanoe tucked the note back into her robes, this time hiding it from view. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. Ruokei looks sick still, sure Ruokei is fine? She tried using a few hand gestures to persuade him to sit on the climbing frame with her. It might be safer than standing as they were at the moment. Kauanoe is relieved that it was someone who wrote the note....Mizuki will be told for certain. Though she thinks Ruokei needs to relax, and get rest for a while. She covered her hand in cloth of her robes, as she had been taught a little porcelain politeness by the presence of so many while she was here, and held out her hand to Ruokei. Mizuki said its feels good to squeeze someone else's hand if your sick or frightened...want to try? She had noticed a the little changes in him as time ticked on by....just didn't know how to deal with them

Ruokei tried to wave away her fretting and concern, but the more she worried over him, the more the pink returned to his cheeks. It was a softer color this time, and after a moment, he reached out, taking her hand with a very light grip of his own. His touch was a delicate thing, in no way manly as the Gaian's view it, but it suited him. Perhaps, if he simply said it... then she'd stop worrying that he was sick? As much as he hated the thought of calling attention to himself with the gift, he hated the thought of causing Kauanoe worry more. And it seemed that either way, she was destined to focus on him for a time...

Ruokei didn't expect to ever see the note again. He had hoped that Kauanoe might like it, but Ruokei didn't want Kauanoe to stare at him, so he wrote the note and left it for Kauanoe to find.
