She called it the Wing Dance, and in her mind the flex and swing of her avian appendages were exactly that. She enjoyed an occasional and very private tango amongst the ferns of these lands, as of late not running into many who enjoyed the same tendencies as she. It wasn't likely she'd find another lion today, the weather being a bit dreary and messy; but if someone were looking for a picker-upper, she was right around the corner. Swaying and humming in an open area, Abayomi hopped from one foot to the next while her tail flicked to beats of the wind. She figured even if it were a bad day, the finding of Alastair meant for a celebration. (and for the Goddess this had to be immediate, don't you know!) She couldn't remember where her companion had run off to, but knew he would return soon and in the mean time, to preoccupy her thoughts, she'd gather dewed leaves and flowers to string together necklaces and bracelets for the party of two. ((Short ;; Bah! Muse!))

The goddess had the opposing attitude of a certain godling that was making his way through the open area, not feeling even remotely close to playing with the wind. It had been a miserable few days, with nothing but passing clouds, gusting winds, and terrible, terrible rain. His hair had been in a constant state of frizz and disarrange and he JUST NOW managed to get it looking somewhat decent after finding a clean puddle. Not only was travel hard, but having traveled in the gloomy clouds had left his fur slightly damp. He had taken a break not only because it looked like it would rain again and because he was still too new to flying to fight against any wind higher than a strong breeze, but because he wanted to clean his fur. Having found a clean patch of water, he both cleaned himself off and managed to comb his hair for what felt like the millionth time these past few days.
Sighing, he tromped through the ferns who were rather large and hide most of him aside from his white and gold-tipped wings, which shot out from above the ferns, and tried to look for a place to rest where he wouldn’t get rained on. Finding coverage in the savannah was rather hard. Really, there should have been more trees for times like this.
Luckily, the open space showed a cluster of trees and shrubs that he felt could provide him with a decent place to stay, but he really wished for a den. He needed a shelter that could handle pounding, cold winds. Ugh! Just thinking about it made him shiver.
As he moved, he started to hear a faint, light humming carried by the seasonal winds, and he stopped as his ears perked up. It was pretty, light, and even though it had no words, was cheerful. It made him think of someone being very cheerful. Looking about, he tugged his wings close, not knowing if it was a mortal or not, and looked around. Seeing as he was short, he had to sit down and look up, stretching to see the source.
What he saw was, to his utter surprise, a white colored goddess dancing. The lioness was swaying with the wind, humming her tune as she let her soft purple wings move around her, moving to the self-made music as he collected leaves and flowers. It wasn’t so much that she was happy, but looked as if she was daydreaming, having that soft look to her. A flower was tucked in her hair and a string of beads was tied about her neck.
Something must be making the goddess very glad, and he went back on all fours, deciding he wanted to know. Moving under the ferns, he reemerged near her, but she danced by him before he stepped out. “What a pretty little song. You must be very happy.” He said, knowing that interrupting was mean, but wanting to talk instead. Who wanted to hum when you could have a conversation instead?

The gusts of wind picked up just as the rustle began, and lost in the song Abayomi missed the cubs approach, twisting and turning to the storms breeze. High above them, the clouds gathered and became dark in color, the thunder pounding each condensed puff like the natural drums they were. Light filled the sky in bursts as the rain came harder, and still the white lioness sang and danced, tuned to the natural phenomenon. It wasn’t until a strong tone snatched her from the melody, her twirls ending with mild shock.
“Oh yes,” she replied, having heard his statement, fluttering dark lashes and golden eyes in his direction. Though it seemed rhetorical, she replied as if it were a question, a soft curve in her voice resembling the hums from before, “I am very happy, for I am a very, very lucky girl!”
Lighting up her wet features, a smile spread across her lips and sustained its position even while she spoke. Continuing, since she often did not know when to stop, Abayomi spoke again, “First off, I’ve made a new friend and been given a chance to enjoy his company; if not temporarily. Second, I have the blessed opportunity to meet you! This is just a wonderful day isn’t it?” From the skies a flash erupted, the threatening rumbles echoing in the distance.
“Just wonderful.” Her paws, which had been filled with layers of vine and flowers now unfolded and every item she created seemed to stack neatly in front of her. The white of her pelt had been dulled by the coverage today, but as she took up a bright orange bracelet and slid it onto her left ankle, her tone seemed to brighten as well.
Having lost herself again in the euphoria of this moment, Abayomi chuckled softly and said "I'm sorry, what was your name again? I've never met a cub before, let alone another God!"

It seemed that Khuluma had forgotten that he was out to find shelter from the rain, and when he heard the thunder, he crouched down tot the ground, ears flat on his head as he looked up. A flash of lightening made him wince, and he curled his tail in. He disliked bad weather. It meant everyone went inside and he had to find a place to stay on short notice. It also left him stuck in one place alone for a unknown period of time. Khuluma was a creature for crowds and company. At least this time around, he had someone to talk, to, but it was hard with the weather.
It was then that the sprinkles from before turned to heavy rain and Khuluma started to get drenched. Frowning, he lifted his wings up to cover him and he looked over to the goddess. It was as if the weather didn’t even register in her mind, and she instead danced in the rain, picking flowers and manipulating them into jewelry and trinkets. It was amazing to see, but his awe was overtaken by the miserable feeling of being wet.
“How can you have been happy before if you didn’t meet me yet? The fact she had been merry beforehand and she used the reason for meeting him as part of that seemed to go against fact. Confused, he shook it off, along with some water from his fur. “It’s nice that you are going to have company. My name is Khuluma. It’s nice to meet you. Um… Wouldn’t it be better to go someplace where we won’t get wet?”He had to raise his voice to be heard over the wind and thunder. Right now, he was torn between leaving the goddess for shelter or stay here, but as always, talking won. This was the reason he was traveling after all, and while water was on the top of his list of things he hated, he tried to make due.

He shrunk before her, with his golden features cowering in fear of what; she was momentarily oblivious to. It became increasingly apparent that the nature she had a rhythm with had taken a nasty turn, and as he spoke his name and asked for a shelter of sorts, she acknowledged the fine hairs on his head dampened drearily in front of his face.
Disregarding his first statement with a shrug, just as he had Abayomi perked to the inquisition and smiled eagerly. "Aw, yes follow me."
Hastily, her white form was prodding the vegetation aside, making a sufficient walk way for both lions. It was not more than five hundred feet away that her clearing became a direct path to a large den, empty of its inhabitants. She could smell Alastair within, his earthy fur rich in aroma and hoped he would not return at any point today. She enjoyed his company, surely, but Khuluma was here in the 'now' and she was desperate for introductions.
The feline turned her attention to the cub, quirking a brow with the same ever present smile and shimmied into the den with a dance. "This should do." she spoke loud, attempting to over power the storms gale. Soft pants escaped her pale muzzle as the goddess unfolded her paws again, releasing a set of bracelets and necklaces. She had hobbled her way to the den just to keep the items; figures Abayomi would.
"My name by the way is Abayomi." She had turned her attention to the vibrantly colored floral arrangement that, even on a dismal day such as this, seemed to glow with appeasement and total bliss.
In her daze, Abayomi spoke softly on a topic she was not all too familiar with, but questioned nonetheless, "If you don’t mind me asking, where are your parents?"

Khuluma was pleased that he managed to convince the goddess to leave the rain for a better environment. You couldn’t really talk when you were trying to speak over the rain, and you impressed no one when you looked wet and shivering. It really did nothing for the mood either. Following the goddess was good in that he didn’t have to walk around the ferns but was provided a path, but the walk was farther than he had assumed. One would think that if you planned to dance about in the rain, you’d at least not venture too far from shelter. That was the thing about assuming. You met someone who proved you shouldn’t.
The godling was tucked right out when they finally reached the den, but that was from rain, already having traveled, and this additional stretch, but he at least now had a dry place a company. Peculiar company, but company. Reaching up, he started to twist his hair to get the water out as he watched the goddess dance about. He had yet to figure out her area of expertise, but knew she could make lovely things out of just flowers and other plants. She also liked to dance, which was something odd when she was wet. He didn’t even feel like dancing, as he was tired and wet.
At te question, he almost felt like sighing. The first few times, it hadn’t mattered that others asked about his parents, as he had plenty of reason to figure out why he had none, and bring up the topic. Right now, he wondered if there was any real point. He seriously wanted to find out more as to whether or not he had any relatives, but it was becoming more and more depressing hearing that he probably didn’t have any or that no one had heard or seen anyone similar to him.
“It’s nice to meet you, Abayomi.” He went to another lock to hair to pull some more water out. “I have not met my family. I have looking for any news if anyone knows or have seen anyone similar to me, but without luck. Limbuko, the god of pleasure, told me that I might not have any. Since I awoke, I have been alone.” Alone, but finding company. It was his traveling that gave him hope for meeting new people, and he was starting to feel that the world was becoming his family, each a new quirky relative.
“Do you have family, Abayomi, or do you live alone?” Even though he had none, it did not mean he liked to hear of others families, and it helped to move the topic away from him.

How sad, she thought, her features softening greatly to his solemn words. It had never occurred to her that a lion could simply awaken, no trace of a mother or father but simply be there, in the moment, alone. It was a very depressing topic, but as hard as Abayomi tried to indulge in the moment and simply let depressing be depressing, the Goddess tried to rearrange the mood; her powers hard at work.
Initially, and if not to totally confuse the cub the female let her At Ease feeling seep through to Khuluma, whether or not it worked she would have to wait and see. Masking her attempt, she replied to his question, a bit reluctantly, "I do have a family, but I don't know where or what has become of them since I left. I can't even say I know my own mother, or father, or whether my siblings are mated and happy."
This was her first attempt at pepping up a God, never having tried to use her bliss with the higher powers. She would let the emotion blatantly slip to the outer reaches of where she sat, but if it did not strike the cub, Abayomi would have to simply liven him up the old fashion way.
"You don't have to travel alone you know, there are plenty of lions and plenty of places you could go; and I'm sure a handsome, well spoken cub as yourself would be accepted anywhere." to this, she bowed her head in a nod, a smaller and much more intimate smile on her lips.
"And who's to tell you, that you have no family? Tell me, Khuluma, do you believe that they are still out there?

Khuluma rose and shook his fur, before moving to a another spot that was drying then the one he had bee sitting, which now had a small puddle. There, he started to clumsily lick his fur, still practicing how to do it effectively. Between licks, he would pause to speak. The topic wasn’t one that he wanted. Concern and pity were hard to tell apart. It also tended to make others sad, who either didn’t know their families, left their relatives, or had missed them. Family, he found, was a very soft subject.
“I know I can travel with others, but I haven’t met anyone who’s stayed long enough with me. I want to see the world and talk to many people, gods and mortals, but the gods are busy and the mortals come and go. It’s fine. It means I just have a chance to meet new faces instead. I mean, I met you after all. If I was traveling with someone, I might have missed you.” That was his silver lining, and he started to feel himself warm and feel lighter. Being wet and knowing he would be leaving after the storm was done was not as bad now when he thought that he at least had the chance to talk to Abayomi. It actually made him feel brighter and happier all of a sudden.
It was the next topic that concerned him, but his mood wasn’t as dark as before. “I can believe that I have family, but that doesn’t make it true, just like I can look outside and say it’s sunny, even when it’s not. I guess it all depends on what I think family is. I know a goddess who adopted her mother, because she didn’t like her own.” This goddess was Confusion, who said she had adopted her “Mommy”, Past. He hadn’t understood how you could adopt a parent, but if he could, he would like to think he would do that at some point, if he found someone to call his mother. “f you look at it that way, maybe I just haven’t found anyone that I want to call family yet. ” That was a nice way of thinking about it. Suddenly, he felt that he had been looking at this family business the wrong way. Just like he could look outside and say it wasn’t sunny, if you looked past the clouds and rain, there was sure to be a sun behind it. Maybe it really was sunny outside.
His eyes trailed back to the goddess, and he felt a great degree of happiness swell in him despite what he was going to ask. "Why did you leave your family? I would think you would want to keep close to the ones you are related to."

Where his happiness began, hers dwindled and though she had not lost the kindness in her voice, the apparent contentment seemed to have dissipated. The lack of her energy took heavy tolls on Abayomi, and the transaction could not last longer than a few hours, less she risk the chance of it being lost for good.
What was said had truth in it, however and made the lioness smirk regardless of her state. "You may very well have missed me indeed, and what a tragedy that would have been..." her tone dimmed, she felt exhaustion settle but was well enough to realize a few things at point. He impressed her, so young and so filled with fruitful information; an emotion that he seemed to understand was something she wasn't used to. This was only her second meet with a lion, and already she was taken by their presence, she had forgotten just how strongly she loved to have company. "Perhaps you are right. Friends can often become family, even when the lines are not blood related. I've never thought of it that way." Or maybe she had, but in the moment could not recollect the memory. Either way, she was indulging in his words, the way he spoke and the outlooks he bore. She was captivated more by the beauty that lurked inside, than the outer shell he strut in and feeling an attraction to him due to his manner of speaking did not seem so farfetched when he pronounced himself like a matured lion would.
"Hmm." She began, forcing the words to come even if she felt reluctant to respond. "You'd think anyone would want to stay with family, and those who don't must have some grudge or chip on their shoulder but my parents, and my siblings were all good to me. As far as my memory can serve I can not say they ever mistreated us or offered any less attention than they did the rest. I suppose I left because I couldn't stay; obviously it was not them, but Me." forcing a smile, Abayomi continued, portraying the pleasure that might be held by the following statement, "It's difficult to say, but I did not want to find residency in one area. I like to travel and explore, to venture off and meet new people just like you! I enjoy more than anything in the whole, entire world, to be the different outlook in someone’s eyes; the way out of a situation that may be troubling to them, almost like a beacon of hope perhaps? I like knowing I can liven up the mood of twenty strangers just by being in their presence...but I can never stay much longer than a few weeks or months to do so...There are always downsides to a great habit, you know?"

It didn’t occur to him that someone would simply leave, without having been rejected or left due to their dislike of their family, but just as a personal choice. It didn’t seem like Abayomi knew exactly why did leave, as she kept mentioning that she had trouble remembering, but he had to consider how old a god could be. He had been told a god could live several lifetimes, and yet they appeared young. Even though Abayomi was big to him, she looked youthful and bright, but he guessed you could never gauge a goddess’ age.
Still, the fact that she had said she hadn’t considered a new way of thinking had brightened him up immensely and he grinned, feeling proud of his accomplishment. He had been convincing enough without intending, and he felt a great degree of satisfaction in it. What pleased him more was the way that Abayomi seemed to understand that traveling had such possibilities in meeting other people, and planted such a picture of being surrounded by others.
“That’s it! I love talking to others. No one is exactly alike. They all think differently, and it’s up to you to figure it out and learn to talk with them. It’s like this great game, and the more there is, the harder it is, but also the more exciting. I would love to be in front of a big crowd, holding their attention, and inspiring them. You must have such a great talent, Abayomi. I’ve never even though of how amazing being in a big crowd like that could be until now. ” The very thought of it made him giddy, as he now had a new fantasy to lock away in his mind and dream of. Something about a large audience stirred something in him, and he would wonder what the sensation would be like. Abayomi was something to be already at that point, influencing large groups, and also moving on to others. “ I know that wandering gets lonely. There are times that I’m all alone, but I always know that if I keep moving, I’ll find someone.” Abayomi understood his goals and was such a role model to him now. He felt guilty for thinking she was odd before, dancing in the rain. Well, maybe he still found her odd for that, but she held the same joy of groups and being center stage that he did. She wasn’t timid either, and spoke what she thought. There had been no obstacles in speaking with her. She freely accepted company, offered him shelter when he asked, and continued to speak with him.

She looked at him, saw the twinkle in his eyes and felt a share of his excitement rebound back to her. There was a hope in him that seemed new, instilled within this moment and suddenly she felt accomplished herself. Staring now, with her golden eyes beaming and a continuous spin of her tail Abayomi spoke in response, her body fidgeting restlessly.
"You are so beyond your years! I am amazed at how alike we are, to travel and see different strands of creatures from all walks of life; A similar desire for attention, and not only for our own self indulgence but for the appeasement of others, at suitable times!" She lowered herself onto her belly, dropping her hype in unison for a moment. "I can feel when days will be grand, when something is going to happen that calls for celebration...I felt that today, you know. Intuition took me to the open field, and though I danced for Alastair, I stayed long after the rain came and thunder yelled for something more; you!"
Even if the odds of that seemed unlikely, and whether or not the cub really believed it; Abayomi knew. She could always sense the rise of a party, the reasoning to be giddy and euphoric, like a 6th sense she assumed the day would get better if she just stuck to her guns and danced to her song.
Khuluma continued, but the pulses Abayomi felt now increased the desire to sing, and parade around their environment. She stood up suddenly, shaking her pelt daintily and slid the flowers toward the cub, her eyes slit and a wild smile on her lips. "So incredibly right you are, those are my thoughts every day and yet I've never seen them in a brighter light. We will always find people, as long as we keep moving...and look good doing it, here, take some."
She twirled in the confines of the shelter, landing and panting gaily.

The cub’s ears went up as a look of surprise crossed over his face. “You were waiting for me? Really?!” He had thought she was a bit off her rocker for saying she was dancing because she met him, because he didn’t know how anyone could be happy someone was coming that they had never met. Now he knew, and he was overjoyed by it. No one ever waited for him before, expecting to see him. It was nice to meet someone who was there to see you, even though this was their very first meeting. Not only that, but she said it was cause for celebration. That was a bit much. Sure, he felt he was pretty, but he wasn’t THAT special. Was he?
Then again, she was waiting for this Alastair too. He must be a lucky god.
He also liked that Abayomi knew that looking good was important, and he grinned even wider, if that was possible, at being able to get a gift. “Really?” Boy, how many times was he going to say that? His eyes wandered to the flowers and he picked out a bring pink one and placed it in his hair just like Abayomi’s. Smiling, he watched her spin, and he understood now why she was doing it before. When you felt happy, you felt light and full of energy.
He giggled as she twirled. “You’re really full of energy, Abayomi. ”

"I was, yup." She nodded knowingly, "And, of course! Indeed! That is one thing you'll just have to get used to around me, energy, but why not? It feels great to move around, remember? Sometimes I don't have to walk all that far in order to find someone, either!" Her hums were sounding again, a different song now but all the same lovely in its own way. She felt the rhyme fall into place, the storm outside brewing while indoors, the atmosphere was perfect.
"That looks great on you," she chimed, noting the flower laying perfectly amongst the gold locks. He seemed to shine in the dull lighting, like her white pelt he glowed in such shadows that the den played and for a moment she wondered why he should feel so lost in the world; some look for a lit path to follow, but he was one in himself. The dancing slowed as she hopped around the cub and sung, "There are plenty more pink pretties here, why look at this necklace!" Taking a green and bright pink flower, she gestured it toward Khuluma, the color a perfect match having been picked from the same bush.
She laughed, suddenly with the object in her paws and smiled as wide as she could manage, sitting up on her hind, poised. "We will be good friends, you and me. Whatever it takes, I'll make sure of it."

He actually did feel that he had a lot of energy now and all previous thoughts of being miserable due to the weather were gone. Inside the den, it was warm and inviting, and you barely heard the thunder or saw the lightening in the glow of the den where Abayomi’s sunny disposition shinned all around. She also kept him distracted as she bounced about the den which was dazzling in flower arrangements of every color and scent. He wondered how they still kept alive. Every time he plucked a flower, it wilted in few hours and lost its vibrancy.
“I hope we stay good friends. You’re really fun, Abayomi.” If he had Abayomi as his relative, like a big sister, he would have been happy. They liked the same things and she gave him presents. She also had great taste in colors and was full of contagious energy that made him want to fly around and go places. She also inspired him to keep traveling. If she could do it, he could to!
Slipping the necklace on, he touched it fondly and looked up at her. “I only know how to run around and hop. Before, you were dancing in the rain, because you were happy to have found Alstair. Well, I'm happy I found you. Could you teach me how to do that? Dance?” As he asked, he tried to imitate her, rising up on his hind legs and opening his wings to help him balance. He wasn’t as graceful in his movements as he was with his speech, and swayed as he tried to keep himself up, paws cupped and held up to his chest.

Dancing, she thought as her wings flapped once in between prancing steps. She was never taught to dance, but sort of learned to by following the beats in a song or watching as the leaves twirled into the air. She'd repeat the sway of branches from tall trees and hop like a toad would across lily pads.
She'd show him how it was she learned, though no teacher she hoped it would be enough. "Lets see," she began, stopping momentarily in front of Khuluma. "I cant teach you, in the traditional sense. There are really no step-by-step movements to follow. You see that bush?" Her paws pointed out toward the nature beyond the den. "It shakes, but not out of fear of the storm. I don't think, anyways; in my mind, the bush is moving with the wind. It follows the direction that the air travels and in its conformity; it dances." She crouched, low toward the ground and shook slightly, her wings extended as high as the ceiling would allow and splayed to show nearly all the lavender feathers that were attached.
"And if you look below that bush, sand is moving in spirals; like a tornado it spins and spins just as the winds direction changes. Funnels form, and the soil dances." In response, she leapt to her toes and spun carefully, taking her wings and wrapping her body within them. "Khuluma, it is all in the way you perceive the dance. No object moves the same, the bush shimmies while the sand spins and all the while they strum to the same beats. You have to find your own song to dance to! With a little push from the winds you can be dancing like nature intended you to."
Falling to her paws with a thud, the lioness breathed her exhaustion away and inhaled the exuberance that she always held. That was, with no doubt in her mind exactly how she saw dancing. Perhaps there were those who knew of the art and could instill proper guidelines but...for Abayomi, in what she loved to do, this was all that needed to be said.
