This is the first story of Moonlore, called the Curse of Ruin. The thread will be locked when not in use, but when unlocked, feel free to roleplay within whatever event is taking place. Some events may even give prizes. If you want a summary of the story so far, please check the story thread.

Rules:
-Do not god-mod.
-Please read the current event information. Some may have affects on your pet that are irreversible, so if you don't want your pet changed, don't participate in those types of events.
-No one-word roleplaying. Please try to be a little descriptive, save those types of RP for the main thread.
-Listen to the guild mods if they tell you something. Remember that we have sneaky, devilish plans for the metaplot which you may not know.

Current Event: Weeping Forest
Prize: PoH x 2
Open: Aug. 9

Every year, at this precise time, the people of the Hidden village of the red moon bring their festivities to the remnants of another village. It was once a beautiful place like theirs, nestled near the roots of the great spirit-tree, Yggdrasil. Tragically though, the village was left in ruin. It was as if a plague of war had breathed through the village, and those within it were left for dead.

Every year, we come to this place to hold a festival in its honor, to grant ease to the spirits who may linger. Oh, but they are not spirit-folk like us, but the husks that remain of what our kind once was. Still, they need to be granted peace.

Strangely, the roots that touch around the dead village have begun to gray, as if they were...dying.

Many people came to the weeping village's festival every year, to try to give the remnant spirits peace, through good-spirited festivity.

Against her will, Haveni was always dragged out here. She detested seeing this forlorn place, though she did not know why. Something inside her grimaced at the very thought of it.

Still, she came, because she enjoyed her meetings with the Nameless One. Seeing her, she trudged over to where she was gathering people, to tell a story.

The Nameless One was very kind, and very wise, but it was not so wise to cross her, or question her great wisdom. Haveni sat near to her, with a group of others, to listen to her tale, which was about this very dead village.

"This village has a nickname." began the Nameless One. "The Weeping Village in the Weeping Forest. But it wasn't always called that. Oh, no. This name came from the sounds described at night, even when this village was inhabited. You could hear the sobs and wailings of some unfortunate spirit, perhaps lost within the forest. However, when that mysterious day came that all the villagers died, they could no longer hear the crying. Perhaps that unfortunate spirit sought revenge!" the Nameless One made a scary pose, imitating a grudge-smitten ghost.

The Nameless one pulled out a couple Pieces of Heart. The items levitated in her hand, sparkling, before floating higher and zooming off somewhere into the forest, and one into the village.

"Do you have the bravery to find these, knowing there could be a vengeful, violent ghost among you?" She chuckled, standing and gesturing for the game to begin.

Standing amidst the crowd, the small, dark Twilif listened to the woman's story with a brow bent skeptically. She certainly was dramatic, and seemed to enjoy telling her tales in the most theatrical way possible. But, that was what sold. Then again, the idea of a village doing something horrible - like it was some sort of teamwork - didn't seem that farfetched.

Gathering his lantern, Kliment shook his head and angled it to stare out, toward the forest. Once the Nameless One was done weaving her story, she had sent two pieces of heart outward, one into the forest. At her challenge, Kliment rose to his feet and began to walk that way. He could see the stirring of the crowd, others already excitedly gathering themselves to chase after the prizes.

As he came to the edge of the forest, he thought dryly, A vengeful spirit... maybe if there IS one, it won't see me in the shade. His lip curled in a self-directed sneer, and he shook his head again. Paranoid? Him? Yeah.

With that, he took his first step into the forest.

Girisha had been wandering around the festival. He had never been to this festival since the last that had been held was before he was even a candle. He had become entranced in many of the on goings of the festival, when he came upon the storyteller. He wondered what she was saying and went closer. She was telling a story about the city he was in now. He looked on curiously as she weaved her story, and cringed when she tried to look menacing like a ghost. He was about to walk away since he sincerely didnt like anything scary when he saw the PoH. They were so shiny they kept his attention. He was just so attracted to them and he didnt know why. He walked closer to the story teller, weaving through the crowd. When she asked if anyone was brave enough to find them he stopped. He would love to have one of them.

Even though Girisha was afraid of the fact that he may come across some ghosts or something else more scary than that, he walked forward. He was nervous since he was technically a child and he didnt know if he would be allowed to enter.

After so he went to the edge of the forest along with all the others who had decided to try, and set forth to find the PoH.

Looking over his shoulder, Kliment stopped when he heard a twig snap behind him. He hadn't ventured far into the forest yet, and could still see the edge of the village when he turned. Mouth turned into a tiny, curious frown, he watched as another twilif entered the forest. He turned his body fully to inspect Girisha, being in no real hurry to find the piece of heart.

"Hello," he began, swinging his lantern lightly. "I suppose you're in the same boat as me, then? I don't much like the idea of walking through here alone." Offering a hand, he added, "Sorry if I sound forward, but would you like to search with me? I'm a bit doubtful of that woman's sanity, throwing a treasure into the wood like that, and it's probably safer in twos. Ah, I'm Kliment." He nodded, done with his half of the introduction.

Girisha stopped when the twilif in front of him stopped and looked at him. Girisha thought that maybe the other twilif was mad that he was following not too far behind him and so he hid behind his scarf!hands.

When the other twilif started to talk to him he lowered part of his scarf and looked at the other. When he reached his hand out Girisha calmed a little more and lowered his scarf! hands. He smiled at Kliment and took his hand. "Girisha." He was happy he had someone to walk with instead of walking alone. He really didnt like this forest but he wanted the PoH.

It had been an interesting story that the woman spoke of before a small crowd. It intrigued the small purple-black twilef standing there, pondering about the story of this village and the possibility of a vengeful ghost. Rylia did not know much of ghosts, revenge, grudges or even about the woman herself who spoke of this tale. Maybe it was possible that the tale wasn't so, but then, what would have been the point if it was? She grinned, watching as the woman pulled out two pieces of heart. This caught her attention, even more so then the gestures the woman made as she told the story and the story itself.

She watched as the items as they took off into the forest and the other possibly to the village in her story. The items intrigued her greatly as she looked back at the woman who had just initiated the start of a game for those very pieces asking the small crowd if they had the bravery to find those very items. Rylia did not like the idea of going into what could be a dangerous place, but if it was to retrieve a piece of heart, she would venture after them.

Slowly, she walked towards the edge of the forest, and stared out in the direction she would be going, looking back once at the woman, and then walking forward into the forest.

Haveni gave a weary glance to the village, and to the forest. No way was she going into the village. She couldn't explain it, but something about it just told her to stay away. It made her stomach turn, and her head throb.

She approached the Nameless One, tugging lightly on her sleeve. The woman turned and met her with sapphire eyes.

"You know what really happened here, don't you? Won't you tell me?"

The woman shook her head. "If you want answers, go search, like everybody else."

Prizeless, Haveni slumped her shoulders and cantered into the forest. Stealthily, she hid behind a clump of ferns, eying Kliment and Girisha.

As she was about to leave her grassy forcefield, a sparkling gleam caught her eye in the distance.

"That must be that thing!" she thought to herself. A feeling of secret triumph in her chest, Haveni lit off towards the sparkling sparkle, further into the forest.

Avantea listened somewhat half-heartedly to the Nameless One's story, having heard it so many times before and knowing it by heart. On her lap the female had an open book with an ornate cover, and as she listened words and images appeared and disappeared on the pages as the story progressed.

She smiled amusedly at the interest the Pieces of Heart sparked in the young audience, and as everyone slowly started moving towards the forest she got up as well, closing her book and bowing to the Nameless One before making her way to the forest as well.

She was planning on documenting this year's festival, like she'd done each one before that, for as long as anyone could remember. They were all in her book, although only she and a few others with enough power could get the knowledge out.

"Hold!" he whispered, grabbing Girisha's hand and hauling him over. "Did you see that woman? She was in pursuit of something. Now, we have two choices." He held up two fingers in front of Girisha's face, eyes serious. "We can follow her, or go in a different direction. I know she is not an evil spirit. She is the one I purchased a candle from recently."

Without giving the twilif much opportunity to answer, he turned his body to where he had seen Haveni run off to. "I say we follow. Will you come with me?" This was beginning to get more interesting.

Like the rest, Aeos sat and listened patiently to the words of the Nameless One.

It was the first festival he had ventured to, so it was a new experience. Every gesture, every word from the Nameless One spoke to him, in a rather ominous way. The icy Constellation couldn’t help but feel slightly… anxious. There was something here, but was it just restless spirits or vengeful ghost as rumors said?

Watching the Pieces of Heart fly away from the Nameless One’s fingers, Aeos stood and unfolded his wings. His gaze flitted towards those that headed towards the forest, blinking. Odd, he thought, shaking his head and glancing towards the Nameless One. She knew something, definitely… but what did she want accomplished by sending them off in a questionable quest?

He tossed himself up into the air with a graceful leap and gave chase to the Piece of Heart that had flown towards the village like a hunting dog after prey. Whether or not his ‘gut-feeling’ was true, Aeos could not tell which led towards more danger. The Constellation would let his luck, good or bad, guide him for now.

Girisha looked in the direction he had seen the woman out of the corner of his eye before he was moved out of the way, then looked back at Kliment and nodded. He watched as he explained about their choices but he knew which one they would choose. The woman had seen something.

Girisha looked in the direction the woman went and noticed something shining. It must have been what attracted her. He nodded at Kliment and followed after the other twilif further into the forest. He was sure this was going to be fun, a bit scary, but fun with his new friend.

Rylia slowly walked into the forest, staring down at the floor of the ground as she walked, not really paying attention to what was in front of her. Many thoughts were playing in her mind as she walked, slowly looking up to make sure she wasn't about to walk into a tree or anything. She spotted two twilef ahead that were speaking to one another, and another not to far away from them. That one seemed to be in a rush, but the other two seemed to be standing.

Rylia wasn't one to bother in other people's affairs or conversations. More or less scared to interact with someone else directly. She quickly picked up the pace, but before she could even get close, the two appeared to be heading off after that other twilef. This was better for her in a sense, but then it also meant she didn't have time to just walk to her destination. Quickly, she picked up the pace and headed in the direction she believed the village would be in, according to the direction she had watched the pieces of heart fly off too.

"So," Kliment began casually, hurrying along through the foliage with his companion in tow. "Tell me about yourself? I have never seen you around before." Then again, that was probably his fault for never really coming around, but he was making an effort nowadays. He didn't expect Girisha to began to babble like his friend, Daskri - who, he realized with a hint of remorse, he actually missed. The boy would have been excellent to bring along, too, in their trek through the wood.

He could see it now, too; a sparkling, in the distance, peeking through the trees every now and then. But what it was, was a mystery. He set his jaw and readied himself, should it end up being anything of considerable danger.
