His first encounter with Tukutu had spawned the last twist and turn of his plan, and while he loved a good twist, he felt he owed it to the poor Vates to 'warn' him. Albeit in some sort of cryptic way anyhow, because honestly, if he told the poor male what awaited him, outright, well... that just wouldn't be any fun, now would it? So thus, the day found him padding directly towards the Vates' den, half hoping he'd meet both him AND his mate there. After all, that would make things much more fun, now wouldn't it? "Hmmm..." he murmured as he stuck his head into the darkness of the den uninvited, "Now then, is the dear Vates anywhere around? I feel I must talk to him rather urgently over.... pressing, deathly matters." Idly, he couldn't help but wonder what Rebirth was up to, but at the same time, figured that she'd probably found something 'fun' to occupy her time with, much like Fate had delivered him entertainment in the form of his plan. Who would have thought it possible for him to find pleasure is such a strange game?

Just when Hodari thought he was going to get a little peace and quiet from all the screaming, whining cubs, someone had come to bother him. Not that he wasn't growing very fond of Tifu's little brood, but they never did shut up. He had come back to his own den for a little peace and quiet, for sleep that he had been sorely missing, and some fool had to come and barge in on his dreams right as he was dozing off.
"What is it?" he called out, his typically carefully calculated voice sounding just a little angry, just a little snappy. His bright eyes snapped open and swiveled to the entrance of his den, his head lifting off of his paws where it had been resting so that he could get a better view of what fool -- oh.
Mentally, he kicked himself. Talking like that to a greater spirit? He sighed and pushed himself to his feet, despite how weary he was, and walked to the entrance of his den. He wasn't sure how much greater spirits liked being inside dens, what with those giant wings and all. "Did you need something, Uka?" He managed to sound apologetic, despite the fact that he felt like dropping to the floor and passing out. Those cubs really were tiring.

His eyes slid past the angry 'father' and into the den, where the whining voices of the cubs could be heard. He had little doubt Takatifu was within the darkness of the cave, hidden, concealed and safe. Ah well, Hodari alone would have to do then.
Shifting his gaze back to the Vates, Uka watched him, bemused, "They're getting to you, I see," was his only remark before he paused. He had wanted Tifu to hear this too, just to get a reaction out of her, but he hadn't know the cubs had arrived already. Talking here would simply not do then, "Oh, well, I find I must talk to you about.... important matters, but this is most certainly not the best of places to do so," his words were blunt, as his gaze slid back into the darkness where he knew the Pure lay with her brood, "Will you join me for a small walk? I promise I won't take much of your time."
That said, and not really waiting to see if the Vates cared to join him, he began to pad away from the den and towards a small patch of shade just beyond it, where he lay down, knowing full well the other male was about to collapse any time soon, "Now then, dear Vates, do you smell what I smell in the air?" he was referring to the rebels he had spotted during his flights lately, but gave no other hint, "Something is coming. And I am pretty sure you know what that means for the Pure, do you not?"

A small frown formed on Hodari's maw as he heard Uka's first remark, unable to feel like it was anything but mocking. Had he been anyone else, that frown probably would have been a very noticeable sneer. He didn't bother to reply to him, simply stared up and waited for whatever this greater spirit had to ask of him.
His gaze followed Uka's into the inside of the den, his brows furrowing as he tried to imagine what the male had to talk to him about that couldn't be said now, in hearing distance of Tifu. It wasn't his place to question the greater spirits, though, so he simply turned back to the male and nodded slowly. "A walk is fine with me," he said politely, despite the fact that all he wanted to do was turn around and fall back to sleep.
He fell into step moments after the larger male, following him with weary paws. He was relieved when Uka lay down in a patch of shade, immediately sitting down in hearing distance, although not risking laying down himself lest he actually pass out. It was a moment before he realized Uka was speaking, and as he came around to the conversation, he frowned deeply. "Yes, the sacrifices all say the same thing - something awful is coming." He knew it meant bad things for Tifu, especially once Jini caught sight of her mate's b*****d cubs. "But if there really is a disaster coming, it's.. Tifu's duty." He had always admired her, idolized her for this duty - but now he could feel the mixed feelings putting doubt in his mind.

Apparently unaware (or unperturbed) with how much he was managing to annoy the Vates, the God continued, "Ah, yes," he nodded, "Her duty," he wasn't mocking him or her in the least, and it was obvious his tone of voice had become serious, "Indeed, however..." his eyes narrowed in warning, "Duty and destiny are not the same thing. You might find that the Pure has forged herself a new destiny through her most recent actions," he knew that his words could be taken entirely the wrong way, but then... that was half the fun, was it not?
That aside, he wasn't really required to issue out a warning - he was merely doing it because despite himself, he rather liked the Pure, and the Vates by simple association. They were a strange couple, for sure, and in a strange way reminded Uka of Muhali and himself, "She herself might not be aware of it. In fact... I am rather sure she has no idea," something in his eyes twinkled, as if in mirth, but it was gone so swiftly that it might not have ever been there at all.
"As you hold the honor of offering her back to the spirits, I feel the need to warn you that the ceremony might just... not go as you plan it to," a pause followed his words, "Or perhaps you might just like the outcome, if your feelings for her are anywhere near as strong as I think they might be. I see no Denial in you for the fact you love her, after all," he waited for the other lion's response, his eyes keenly watching for with such jabs, even the usually cold, stoic Vates might be angered enough to try and attack a 'greater spirit', "Things are getting interesting, and they're going to get even more interesting on the day of that ceremony."

It was hard to understand what the other male was getting at, especially when he was suffering from such a lack of sleep. In a way, it seemed as if the Greater Spirit was alluding to all the things that had happened between Sakata and Tifu - had that harmed her chances of joining the spirits? If Sakata's recklessness had dishonored Tifu so much that the spirits were angry, Hodari was going to be hard put to keep silent.
Yet, he still couldn't fathom why Uka would be speaking to him about it, and acting as if it were so urgent. That, and many of the things he was saying just seemed.. far too out of place to fit in with that theory. It left Hodari staring at the bigger male with a deep furrow in his brow and a frown on his face. For a long moment he didn't speak, he simply watched him.
"I shouldn't be surprised that you know things that I don't," he said slowly, his tail twitching in irritation as he fought to keep his voice level, "but I can't say that I'm very fond of this game you're playing, Greater Spirit or not." Had anyone else heard him speaking in such a manner to the other, it probably would have been a great surprise and cause for a lot of gossip. Hodari was the last lion in the pride that would normally be one to question the will of a Greater Spirit, but he was truly, truly exhausted. "I suppose I should thank you for the warning though, whatever your intentions." His eyes narrowed a little on him, but he sat still, not moving or acting as if he would dare until he was dismissed.
