Does anyone here play an musical instrument? If so, what instrument(s) and for how long have you been playing?

I'll start, Yes I do play an instrument. I have been playing Piano for seven years so far. I also am a percussionist for my school band(I am soon entering my third year). I attempted to teach myself the classical guitar(that didin't go well). And I am currently interested in finding a teacher for both the guitar and the flute.

I took piano lessons as a child, but was horrible at it. Horrible. I had (and still have, to an extent) bass clef fear.
I played flute for about eight years during junior high and high school, and a bit of college. At this point, I probably wouldn't even remember what end to blow. razz
I trained throughout high school and college for a vocal music career. Then I damaged my voice (thank you, evil "teacher," for helping me ruin my career) and haven't been able to sing properly since. At least, not professional quality anymore.

I have, over time, tried to play every instrument known to man. I failed (and I mean EPICALLY failed) at all of them. I started with piano, which I was quite good at but forgot, then moved onto guitar and drums, which were too conventional for me. So I tried flute, but boys playing flute get their arses kicked. I borrowed my grandfather's trombone and tried that, but my Bar Mitzvah got in the way and I abandoned it. Saxaphones, bagpipes, harps and more have all come under my control, and I suck at all of them.
Currently, I want to learn to sing. After all, how hard could it be? ninja

Of course, I play tenor sax, as I have been for the past, oh, six years or so. Violin I've been at for as long as I could read which ha been since I was about four years old. Other than that though, I've attempted to play piano and I 'epic failed'. haha =P

I've always wanted to play the piano, too, Silent. However, I've never got around to learning it. ^_^

woolie When you say music theory, do you mean being able to read music sheets/notes etc.? Music theory is the study of how music works, and how to express it in musical language. There are websites where you can learn at least the basics of music theory.
