Anyone got any recommendations for strings?

It's just one of those things you figure out. Start on the cheapest strings: ernie ball/boomers. And then branch out to see what suits you best. I like blue steel guage of at least 10 for my electrics.

Company?
Ernie Ball or D'Addario.
Size?
Well, that's your call.
You could be brave like me and use Barry strings. (.013-.017-.026-.036-.046-.062)

I use Ernie Ball or Boomers .9's, but I'm probably going to try out a Billy Gibbons style setup and go with some .8's ninja

does the size work like guaging an earing? Small number bigger string? And what does slinky mean?

It's the opposite for strings. The higher the guage, the thicker the strings. I think that ernie ball is the only brand that refers to their strings as slinky and it's exactly what it sounds like which is why I really hate their strings.

I'm afraid I'm not sure I follow you. I think the string construction is practically the same in most of the big string companies, but I happen to like ernie ball strings best out of almost all other strings. They've got a crispness to them that for some reason is absent from other strings when you first put them on.

And go for elixirs if you're looking for longevity. guage is personal preference, and mine just happens to be .11-.49 on a hard-tail and .10-.46 on my guitar with the floyd.

to me, it feels like no matter how high of a guage you try on ernie ball, they are always going to overbend. i like blue steels best because they are feel firmer and don't overbend.

Dean Markley Blue Steels.

Crap yeah.
They have this orgasmic trebly, metallic twang I just love. Gives good tone and crisp playing for metal in my opinion.

I'm trying to decide wether i prefer super slinkys over Boomer .9's.... I seem to like the budget strings. Though I'm tempted to string up my Tele with some Dean Markley .8's.... Just to spice up my life.

Going to play with a paco also? blaugh

I myself used just the standard .10 slinkys. Cheap strings usualy five bucks a pack and will last you a few months before they loose their sustain and what not.

But if you want some high quality strings and have a few extra bucks in your pocket Elixers are the way to go.

Seriously, I bought some one time to try it out and JESUS CHRIST!! I could bend, pull off, hammer on, and slid ten times better. Seriously, elixers defintetly are worth the extra 20 bucks. 3nodding Who ever says they arnt your a freakin lier!
