The little pink faun child didn't tend to wander far from the safety of the tree. She'd been taught that it was safest inside, and to be weary of the island still. Sure she was curious, but she was also afraid.

But not one to dwell on could-be's, mainly because she didn't have the attention span for it, she just chose to stay where its familiar.

On this sunny day, little Kishi was outside of the tree, but still on the little island it resided on. She'd found some dragonflies hovering around the tree roots and was playing tag with them. Least, she believed she was playing tag, as they'd fly away from her each time she got near. But they'd never fly away, only out of reach.

Pan walked out of the tree into the daylight. He had often ventured over to the new island since the fauns had shown themselves. He liked it. There were many more trees and other rocks for him to investigate. They were all very lovely, but none as great as their tree.

Pan played his flute happily. As he did so small rocks followed behind him. That tune was the first he learned and so far the one he knew best. He liked to think of it as a parade.

The boy then looked up and saw another faun. A pretty pink girl playing with dragonflies. He smiled as he walked over to her still playing his flute and still with the rocks following him.

Kishi hadn't noticed the boy approach at first, but she'd heard his tune. She'd hummed a little not even considering the tune was out of place (there's no natural music in the tree).

She'd lunged forward, determine to tag this one this time. The poor girl was still a bit clumsy, and she tripped over one of the roots, sliding into the grass in front of the boy and his rock ... friends?

Eye-to-hoof with the newcomer she lets her eyes move up to see who'd come to visit her. "Hello!" she mumbled with an unintentional mouth full of grass.

She quickly scurried to sit up and spit the grass out to her side. "Who are you?" her tone, without the mouthful of grass was a lot more friendly and perky. "I'm Kishi!" she smiled brightly at the boy.

Pan watched as the girl then fell over. He ran to see if she was okay. Because of this the flute was no longer being played which meant the rocks went still back where he left them.

"Are you alright? I'm Pan." Pan smiled and held out his non flute holding hand to help her up. "Isn't the tree lovely?" He looked back up to where they were. It was a beautiful sight and Pan loved to view it often. Even from the mainland it was a sight to see.

Kishi giggled, "I'm okay. I fall lots." It certainly was something the clumsy girl was used to. A few bumps and bruises were nothing to her now.

When he'd ran to her, she noticed the rocks stopped following him and was curious about that. "You have pet rocks that are scared of me?" she wondered why the stopped.

She did hear his comment about the tree and nodded. "I love the Tree." she said with a grin. It was her home afterall.

Pan chuckled at that. Falling wasn't always good, but it wasn't always easy walking on the hooves...not at his age. He had his spills as well. Mainly on the main land.

"Oh, well that's because I stopped." He picked up his flute again and began to play. He tried the tune he learned with the toddler faun. This tune caused the rocks to move and spin around each other. The movement he thought was like dancing.

Kishi clapped her hands together and squealed. "Dancy rocks!!" she hopped up to her hooves and skipped towards them. "They alive?" she wondered as she bent over to get a closer look.

She reached out to poke one while it moved. The was the most awesome thing she'd ever seen!

Pan smiled as he played. Once he stopped the tune so woul the rocks. So, for a few more moments he played and the rocks danced. Pan did think it was rather pretty in an odd sort of way.

Pan then stopped and as predicted the rocks stopped moving as well. "I like to think they are alive like the trees and Earth." He nodded. "The music just wakes them up." Which really was what he believed.

Kishi smiled and kept clapping as Pan made the rocks dance some more. "Pretty music!" she mentioned. She'd never met a Faun her age that could do something so well.

Then, almost as if a lightbulb really did go off above her head, she hopped up excitedly and turned to Pan. "Wanna see what I can do!?" It wasn't nearly as awesome as playing a flute, but it was fun nonetheless.

The little pink faun kid held her hands up, fingers pointing to Pan, and whispered softly, "watch." the tips of her fingers started hardening and slowly taking on the appearance of bark. It took a few seconds and a lot of concentration, but soon, Kishi's hands looked like sapling branches, much like the ones on the kids' heads. "I can be like a tree!"

Pan nodded his head. "Okay!" He was excited to see what she could do too. Sure, it might look like he had his power down, but really those were the only tune he knew well. Getting the rocks to do anything else would take the finding the right tune and then learning it.

Pan watched as her hands became like branches. He walked over to her and touched them. "Wow. That's groovy." He nodded. "Becoming a tree...that is the greatest!" Pan loved trees so this was truly amazing to him.

Kishi was happy her new friend seemed impress with her trick. "I can't become a tree. Jus' my hands can do that.' She pouted her lip only slightly while being very briefly disappointed in that small fact. "But! I do hope someday to become a tree!" She was always excited sharing her dream of becoming a tree with others.

Strange child though, that wants to become a tree. She shook her hands, like there water on them and she wanted to dry them, and her little branch appendages became pink fingers again. Looking at Pan, she smiles, "What do you wanna be when you get bigger?"

"I think being a tree would be a great thing. Trees are one of the best things that grow." Pan said of the girl's dream. Sure if might have been really odd to others, but being the tree hugger Pan was he understood.

Pan's dream? Well, he hadn't much of one yet. He was a child who just like to play with rocks and look at trees. "I don't think I have on yet. I haven't really thought about it."

Kishi folded her arms in front of her, then brought a tiny up to tap her chin with one pudgey little finger. "Hmm. You like trees and make rocks dance." she mentioned, pointing out the obvious while she considered the possibilities. "Maybe you be a tree too! I teach you how. Then you teach me how to make rocks dance! yeah!" she was excited at the idea.

Being a child Pan hadn't really known where the power came from. Sure, it was in a box with a rune that now was etched into his palm, but he didn't really know that. So, the male smiled. "Okay! I like it. We just need a flute for you. I found mine in a box." He told her as he scanned the area for another box or a flute. Sure, it would be odd for one to just be there, but he thought why not? "But first you."

Kishi wasn't quite sure where her ability came from. She always just assumed that since she, and other Faun lived in the Tree, they could all shapeshift too.

She never made the connection that the special present she got not too long ago, of that most magnificent tasting candy ever, was where her power came from.

"So I jus' gotta find a box an' there be a flute innit? Sounds easy 'nuff." she said rather confidently. "But uhm... me first?" she tapped her chin for a few seconds while thinking on where to start.

"Okay, I thinks you gotta think 'tree'. Think you is a tree and think real hard that you will be a tree. Dats what I gotta do." She nodded sagely, sure this would work. "Yous gotta close yer eyes too. Think real hard. An' put yer paws out."
