“Whoa. Whoooooa.”
In the streets of Middling, one would be able to see a stumbling, paranoid mess that was once a godling creep in and out of sight. Her steps made her seem as if she didn’t even know how to walk on her own two legs.
“What the Hell, Bastet.”
Sarah tripped on her feet, crumbling to the ground with not much effort to stop her fall. “Ugh, I’m not even tired.” She mumbled. Ever since she had come back from training in the realm in which Bastet resigned in, she had been in her cat form. Not of her own free will, of course, and she still didn’t have much control over her legs. Oh well, it was back to the godling grindstone for her, she had to now get used to her human form in the real world.
The girl lazily staggered to her feet, finally noticing the fast approaching army of cats that were apparently around the neighborhood when she transformed. She picked up a large white cat with lengthy fur and gave it an odd stare. “Why do all of you like me so damn much? I’m not exactly the pet owner type.” She had already known the answer to her own question, but there was no harm in asking. Of course, there was no answer and she set the cat back down with a sigh.

Quinn was on his way home from visiting Seamus in the hospital. He hadn't slept all night, he was hungry, he was thirsty, and he was worried. Quinn was in a bad mood.
He heard the kid ask the cat a question.
He also heard the cat respond.
What the cat said was quite interesting. This kid was a godling. Cats were better than dogs at talking, but still weren't very good. Quinn had to interpret what the cat said. Perhaps a god of cats.
And she couldn't even understand them?
He stepped up towards her, and crossed his arms.
"The cats here really like you. And there are lots of them. They're really noisy. It's like, a hangover. Worse. Can you make them shut up?"

Sarah turned to see Quinn, utterly dumbfounded by his appearance. Sure, she had seen a good number of the godlings, but this one was by far the oddest she had seen. “So you’re one of the guys in the game, too?” She asked, starting to look away to focus her attention on the cats. “Hey, shut up down there.” She ordered the seemingly mindless lot. She kept a stern look because she didn’t know if they were going to listen to her or not in her human form. When she felt that they weren’t going to say anything more, she focused more on the man in front of her. “Sorry about them, they follow me regardless— Wait… You can hear them?” She asked, now giving him her full attention. Now this was even more interesting than before.

"Yes. I knew everything from your hair color to the length of your toenails by the time I was three blocks away." He looked at her, blankly. "It was annoying." He scratched at the back of his neck, and rubbed at his eyes.
"Yes, I'm in the game. I'm Quinn." The cats continued, and he hissed to them a translation. They shut up.
"And I'm really, really tired. So I should probably be going." He continued walking, but slowly. He was really tired.

The girl knew that he was pissed off, but she couldn’t help but chuckle lightly at the fact that the cats were so talkative. “Ah, I’m sorry… I’m not too good with controlling them at the moment… Maybe later on I’ll be able to control them more…”
When Quinn hissed at the cats, she took a more threatening stance by instinct. Her ears lowered, the hairs on her tail stood up, and she could feel a low growling noise in the back of her throat. Of course, she shook them all away once she realized they were there. “Ah—I’m Sarah. Nice to meet you.”
She kind of gave him an odd stare as he walked off. “Well… Okay, then. See ya.” The girl said as she started to tumble away. Bastet, however, wouldn’t have it, and sent the cats to start following Quinn. “H-hey! Guys, leave him alone!”

Quinn was not paying very close attention to where he was going, and cats following underfoot was a problem. He tripped on the tail of one of the cats, and tumbled to the ground, a mess of feathers and gangly limbs. "Gah!" He pushed the cats away, and sat up. A small black blob that had been masquerading as a bracelet formed little ears and a little round body, rolling up Quinn onto his shoulder, ears perked up and eyes glaring. Canster didn't like cats.
Quinn frowned. Why were they following him, now? Maybe he smelled like Vale? He sniffed his arm. Nope, no Valescent. Just hospital smell. Like cleaning products and medicine.
"Get them to shoo, catgirl. I'd like to go home and not be followed by an army of felines." He pushed himself up to standing, again. He was a shorter-than-average man, but he was still taller than this kid. She really was a kid, too. Little. He inspected her more closely. Her tail looked sort of like a lion's. Wierd, but he'd seen wierder.
"I'm sorry for acting like such a jackass," he muttered, and rubbed at his eyes again. "I just haven't slept since yesterday, and I'm really not feeling great to begin with."

She winced when the boy took a fall because of the cats, but rushed up just in case he injured himself in the process. When the girl noticed that Quinn’s bracelet could move and form ears, she backed off a little. She turned her attention to the cats now that she had stored up enough anger for their disobedience. “Alright, you bastards, LINE UP!” Her last words sounded more like a roar than actual speech-- a soft roar, but one nonetheless. The cats seemed to finally listen to her, forming a straight row of cats at her feet. Great, now she was the little kitty drill sergeant. She could hear Bast cackle at the thought.
“Nah, it’s alright.” She said when she decided that the cats wouldn’t interrupt them again. “I understand the feeling… Well, I guess a lot of the people in the Game would.”

Quinn raised an eyebrow. Well, they listened to her that time.
" 'Bastards'? Should a kid your age be using that kind of language?" Quinn smirked. Kids nowadays. More and more desensitized to everything.
"Yeah. But, my mother died two weeks ago, I just got dumped, and one of my friends is in the hospital because they were mauled by the person who dumped me." He stared blankly at the girl. "Tell me another godling who gets that right now."
He blinked, and shook his head.
"Sorry, that's not your problem."

“Ah… Right.” Sarah backed up a little, feeling a bit uncomfortable at the fact that this guy just dumped a bit of his life’s story at her without even knowing her. Well, he knew her in a way, knowing she was a player and all he might have learned from the cats. The girl straightened up, finally looking up at the cultist. “Look, I’m sorry all that happened, and I’m sorry for bringing it up…” She said rather carefully, not hoping to anger the feathered man. “I’m just saying more people have probably had worse. I mean, I can’t count how many times I’ve walked into Downers and faced these creepy old guys telling me about their entire life…” She paused, nervously laughing. At least she was trying to lighten up the situation.
