Sey
The world was born from darkness...

Unending darkness... A crucible of chaos.

But even to that primordial existence there came a ray of light.

The universe was eventually split in two.

The Darkness became the realm of Demons

and the Light became the domain of Mortals.

These two worlds existed together for what seemed like an eternity.

But one day, the Mistress of the Dark said,

"These realms were once united, so why not rule them as one?"

From that era forward the dark fought to control the light and the light struggled to defy the dark.

But the nature of man is weak and fragile. There was no way they could hope to oppose the demonic powers of those from the world of shadows.

Light was overwhelmed by the impenetrable darkness and humanity prepared to meet its end...

Then They appeared...

Their names are the now basis of our world

Fire, Water, Air, Earth

They had no loyalty to either side; however they sought to maintain a balance between the two worlds. Wielding their power for the sake of the world of light, the 4 elements destroyed the ambitious Mistress of Darkness and without her, Darkness lost its power.

To ensure the balance was maintained, all 6 powers took equal parts in creating the seal that separated the two worlds.

That seal is Gaia itself.

The mortals that survived looked up to the Powers that saved them and came to call them Elementals, praising them for their powers and begging to learn their ways. The Elementals chose those true of heart to bear a fraction of their power and with it, they inherited the responsibility to maintain the balance of power in the world.

The Elementals reigned over Gaia for a long, prosperous era, but slowly they tired and, confident in those they chose to inherit their power and responsibility, fell into a deep sleep in their sanctuaries across Gaia; awaiting a time where their powers would be needed again.

For 1000 years the Elemental Avatars fulfilled their responsibility to the balance, but the human spirit is weak and their memories as fleeting as morning mist. The Elementals who purchased their freedom with their own blood became legends and over time, the legend became nothing but a fairytale.

Humanity's lust for power began to taint members of those of the Elementals chosen bloodlines and in their lust, shook off their mantles of responsibility. Their ancestral oaths to maintain the balance was forgotten and their new quest was for power at all costs. Wars ravaged Gaia and the few still loyal to their responsibility to their Elemental benefactors cried out for their help.

And so now, 2000 years have passed since the Elementals' departure to sleep...

Okay, so Sey and I were talking about this, and we've decided that the Elementals are waking up. In order to do so, they have to locate a person of the appropriate bloodline, obtain a sacrifice from them (of blood, usually), and meld their spirits with that of the human form.

Just some skeleton names for the elementals so that we have something to refer to them as:

Shadow: Calais
Light: Falis
Fire: Marathe
Water: Telvah
Air: Abarai
Earth: Enterra

Yes, I know they suck, feel free to make suggestions. sweatdrop

xd Falis? As the Light God? That'd really mess with my head, but considering that I originally took Sey from WoG and put her into mainstream I suppose it works.

Hnn...

This sort of defuncts the elemental thread.

I mean... here you say, True, that the elementals are waking up and they need someone of the appropriate bloodline to do so. Whereas there, it says that they wake up for one task and then go back to slumber, and only at the request of a member of the bloodline...

I mean, I could imagine that the elemental might stir from sleep on its own if something disasterous were happening to the balance, or if the family started being killed off somehow and it was feeling the pain of them (being linked, after all).

Just... Didn't see that coming after reading a whole thread about how the elementals awakening is a very rare occurance and only done in times of great need by the intent of a bloodline member.

*Sits back and waits to hear more.*

Obviously, there are kinks that need to be worked out. sweatdrop The description Sey has provided is of the benign method, where humans call the elementals for aid. In the case of the story arc we have in mind, humans don't want to call the elementals for aid, they want to call them to obtain their power. The ensuing trouble runs in the way that these people try to harnass the powers of the elements.

In the case of Fiondra Cantiele, she tried to subdue the consciousness of the water elemental, and as a result, the two personalities fused, then splintered apart. The reason humans can see and feel the "tears" is because of the water elemental's power and influence on reality.

This leaves us open for a typical "collect the holy relics" plot, in which everyone is trying to obtain the pieces of the goddess, and whether they do it to put her back together, or to master the power is up to the players.

Heyyyyyyy nono - I said that there were various reasons why someone would want to summon an elemental - and they're both shoved into categories: good & bad.

I never ruled out the chance that there could be a summoning that was to obtain elemental power. In fact, I heavily hint that (if you were paying attention :: brandishes ruler :: ) if someone were to go murder/injur all the members (or a good majority) of a single Bloodline Family, take a member of that family and their elemental item and go to the dormant Elemental, murder that kidnapped member and overpower the Elemental in it's weakend state, you could easily control it - if your will was strong enough. And I'd think it would be if you murdered that many people, stole an item of such relevance and murdered someone just to spill their blood on it to get the power of a weakened Elemental Spirit. And even a weakened Elemental is still stronger then a 1000 Mages - it's just that its will is extremely weak, considering that 1/3 of it's 'soul' was just slaughtered.

I think TMJ's just telling us to take a second look at the system we've created. A good idea, to say the least. I like your description, though. biggrin

:: nod nod ::

I just posted that little Elemental thing because I had it in a hard copy in my WoG book... Everything in this subforum is up for critique and will be molded accordingly by the WoG Crew's suggestions and input. Not until it's moved to the main forum will it be even slightly solid.

I just ask that you guys not go in and edit the actual thread/posts. xd Since we all can do that I think... Yeah xp

Who's playing what bloodline again?

*Thinks he got stuck with Earth, but isn't 100%.*

Also... Telvah blew up or something, and scattered across the world.

What are we doing here? Collecting the parts, obviously... to what intended end? Or do the parts have super special properties?
