"Dragon Drive" by Kenichi Sakura. Is a fantasy/sci-fi series that was targeted mainly toward older teens. Violent content was removed from the anime series, since it is soon to be released on the new anime section of the Disney channel. Many things that were shown in the manga, were cut out of the anime so the drama and complexity of the series was lessened, in hopes that a younger audience would watch it as well.
Dragon Drive focuses on a young, high school student named Reiji Ozora. A teen whom gives up on nearly everything he ever starts, including school. One day he is bribed by Maiko to try out a new game. He soon becomes addicted to the game, Dragon Drive, a virtual reality where you are given your own, unique dragon in accordance to your specialties, and fight opponents dragons. He is soon convinced that he is something special.
