It just past dusk and the sky was starting to let the last light fade slowly, leaving the earth a faint shadowed hue. It was because of the coming darkness that the wind stallion decided to land. He had never liked landing at night, it always was slightly unnerving to land where you could not see your feet. Not that he would ever admit that, and of course if anyone ever challenged him on it he would land graceful as a swan just to show them. Still, times like now when he was alone without onlookers he often took to the ground before dark hit. He just, preferred being able to see was all. And he had travelled far today. Not to say that he did not travel far every day, for that was what he was at heart, and adventurer. But some days he naturally went slower than others but today had been relatively quick and the winds had been with him.

Not to mention he had almost had a run in with a kalona and while he had met one or two before that he had carried on decent conversations with...it was never wise to run your luck with things that might very well want to eat you. Of course, Akecheta believed he could outrun a kalona if he needed to. It was just the fact of running away that he wanted to avoid, he never liked looking like a coward, no male in their right mind would.

Though he had had fairly good luck today, luck was not always with him. Or perhaps not luck, perhaps it was that he did not always pay attention as much as he should when landing in the dark. As he swept down he noticed a shape that grew rapidly until he was almost upon it and with a start, he pulled up his wings and narrowly avoided colliding with a dark coloured mare. He turned as well as he could, and managed to avoid a head on collision, landing with less than usual grace.

"Ah, sorry, I nearly hit you. You alright there?" Akecheta asked.

The mare in question had been simply minding her own business, looking around for that stupid wolf again. Seriously, every time Renji disappeared something either bad, or decidedly not good happened; only occasionally did something actually good happen. Kaidus wondered if yet again she was going to have to deal with some flavor disruption or interaction before the little bag of fur returned.

It was a good thing Renji was her best friend, because otherwise.... he'd been trampled already.

It was then, as she flicked a white piece of hair out of her eyes that she heard the swooshing of what seemed to be a bird.

Except this bird ended up being the size of a bloody stallion.

A large string of curses flowed from her mouth as she ducked, the flying horse narrowly missing her. Kai snorted and stamped her hooves for a moment before replying.

"Holy Angeni... were you trying get someone killed? Watch where you are flying, jeez," she said, her temper flaring. She flicked her tail out from under her hooves and glared at him, light grey eyes hard.

As the mare shot out a string of angry curses at him Akecheta's ears flew back and he glared at her. Generally he felt that he was a fairly easy going soquili, compared to many anyways. His temper didn't often flare up at random occasion and he wasn't prone to it. But...when dished out he could give as good as he got. And he hated being critisized on his flying ability, no matter how you looked at it. His flying was his pride and anyone that saw fit to insult that as anything more than a joke...he didn't view with any great amount of kindness.

"Hey chill out a little will you? You notice how I asked if you were alright? And it's dark out! I'm sure you have never tried landing on ground that looks black and able to see a pitch black mare against the pitch black earth." He answered her, snorting irritably.

Sheesh, landed in a new place and already someone was on his case. Not to mention it was getting dark out. He wondered if this mare was always this ornery or if she was making an exception for him. Whatever the case it looked like he wasn't going to be able to enjoy much of his night. Shame, since it was such a nice one too. Well, maybe if she got off his case.

Kaidus huffed, tossing her white mane around. "Well of course I haven't tried landing in the dark. I don't have wings," she said, stating the obvious. She'd only met one other flier in her time, and she'd been a nice little filly. On the whole though? She really didn't like those with wings. Half of them prided themselves on being able to fly, and thus being better than everyone around them, and the other half were out for blood, literally.

Some logical part of her brain agreed that it would be pretty hard to land in the dark. It would be pretty hard to do much of anything in the dark, unless you had vision like a cat. However, her logical side was beaten into submission from the testy, annoyed part the made her seem self-centered. Which she wasn't. She just had temper issues.

Akecheta snorted a little irrately at the mare as she gave him the obvious answer of her lack of wings. Right, well, he could see that, cleary. It had merely been...metaphorical. Sort of. Though he did suppose it would be hard for her to understand as she had never flown and really it wasn't her fault that she happened to be standing in the field...especially since he was the one that had dropped in so unceremoniously on her. Couldn't really blame anyone for standing somewhere when he was the one with wings. But really....she didn't have to be so rude about it, he thought with a frown. And her coat was black.

Not that his answer would have helped her mood of course. But he hated rolling over when someone was in his face. It was much to like a sign of surrender. How lame would he be then? No respect, he would get absolutely none. Not that verbal sparring was all bad, he could get a kick out of it once and a while, and it appeared as if this mare was able to give as good as she got. Still it was getting dark out, and general protocal for prey animals indicated that yelling in the middle of an open field was not always the smartest thing.

"I suppose the lack of wings doesn't help," Akecheta aknowledged. "But you've got an unfair advantage with that coat of yours. I suppose it isn't so bad for avoiding kalona at this time of night, but it doesn't really flash a warning to incoming fliers if you know what I mean." He shook out his mane, observing the mare with a cool gaze.

Kaidus stared at him, annoyed. She tossed her mane, shaking her head. "Well I'm sooorrry, I'm not like a glowing beacon in the middle of the night," she retorted, sounding very much like a little foal. Kai... that is no way to act. You are a grown mare, you should at least act like it, damnit! she told herself. Kai took a breath, and with a rather large struggle it almost seemed, she looked at him with nicer eyes.

"Well... I am truly sorry I almost let you hit me because my coat's black. Though it really isn't my fault your eye sight sucks..." she said, muttering the last part. Just because she was apologizing didn't mean he still wasn't at fault.

He had to admit, he was a little startled when she seemed to collect herself and apologize, he had almost been afraid they would be arguing like this until morning. But, for whatever reason she had seemed to struggle with it but in the end something one out. And now he felt a little bad, or perhaps a little annoyed that she showed him up. Whatever. Technically he should have been apologizing since he couldn't exactly blame her for standing in the middle of a field.

The muttered comment about his eyesight made him snort again, this time from badly concealed laughter instead of annoyance though. "Well, I suppose I must apologize for almost hitting you due to my horrible eye sight...I will have to practice looking at things in the dark more perhaps. And...I guess I can't blame you for standing in a field. So....um...sorry." He said, looking at her with a sideways glance to gauge her reaction. This felt a little weird, he didn't usually go through all of this...but then again he didn't usually swoop down and almost take someone out in near darkness. Oh well, at least it appeared she wouldn't hold too much of a grudge...hopefully.
