 The bright morning sun beat down onto the savanna washing everything in bright light, even the small bright purple tuft attached to something's tail, sticking up above the long grasses. Ever so often, the tuft twitched as if to music.
Soon enough, a soft voice rose to fill the air. The voice was young and untrained, but underneath that was a true tones that promised to one day become a great voice.
A little white head topped with the same bright purple of the tail tuft, poked from of the long grasses and grinned looking about. 'Time for fun!'
Zana giggled softly as she ducked back into her grassy hideaway, unaware of the fact her tail was still visible and would give her hiding spot away. She crouched down to wait for a 'victim' to pass by.

Pembe came his happy little way threw the land. Stopping every few steps to look at the ground in case he saw something of interest. Though, nothing had held it for too long, for he was already on his way again. He stopped as soon as he saw something fluffy and purple. It was attached to something white. Well, that wasn't odd, was it? Well of course it was. "OH NO! THE ROCK IS GOING TO EAT YOU!!"
Of course there was no rocks around, at least not what he had seen. But the tail didn't seem to be moving. He jumped into where the tail was coming from. "QUICK! BEFORE IT GETS YOU!" He said with all his might. He wanted to be brave, and make someone like him. Though, to his surprise, the female cub looked almost like the one who had told him about the cub eating rocks.
At first, he thought she was. Though, this female had no yellow on her like the other did. Only purple white, and some odd black markings. Few! That was a close one! Not that he wouldn't mind running into her again, he just didn't want to say something that the other had already known about. He wanted to sound smart. Wanted to sound like he was a hero! His bright pink eyes seemed to light up after he realized she wasn't the same cub.

Zana squealed surprised whirling around to face her 'attacker'. She stared at the odd little male for a moment, blinking her lavender eyes at him, before a soft giggle, sounding like the twitter of birds, escaped her muzzle, her ears perking forward. He seemed friendly enough if not a little on the odd side.
"Rocks are going to eat me? Why that is just silly, I wouldn't taste very good." It sounded like something one of her siblings would have come up with for sure. "But thank you for trying to save me when you thought I was in danger."
She tilted her head to study him. "Where did you hear about rocks eating cubs? Was it from a cub that looked like me?"

(Seeing as I was wrong, it wasn't her siblings. It was another breeding with the similar colorings as your girl. XD Different parents....)
"No no! It's true! They love the young ones cause they aren't as old and nasty" He told her. "quick! Follow me if you want to live" He told her as he turned and started to run. He didn't even catch the last part of what she said. He was looking for water. They were afraid of water. "Hurry, before they get you" He yelled... but tried to make it into a whisper as he stopped to turn towards her. Motioning with a paw towards a tiny little almost dried up pond.
He'd be sure she was safe from rocks. There were some big rocks yards away, but that was all. Only small rocks that wouldn't be able to eat them. Or maybe that's how rocks grew? They slowly ate things bigger then them. He licked the biggest small rock away from him in case that was true.

Rather than berate her new friend for being stupid, Zana burst into giggles again and raced after him, her little paws carrying her as fast as her long legs would go. She quickly caught up to him and stayed close, her eyes wide.
"Is it safe now?"
She peered around, still giggling as she pawed at some tiny pebbles near her feet as she watched him kick the rock away from him. He was certainly very silly, after all if rocks where really dangerous her father would have warned her to be careful of them. He had warned her everything else.
"Do all rocks want to eat us? Or just big rocks? Should I be afraid of these?"
She batted the little pebbles back and forth, her grin huge as she watched the other cub.

He nodded "I... I think so." then he turned towards her. "I'm Pembe!" he said without hearing her other question at first. He smiled at her and then shook his head. "only the big ones." He figured the small ones would be too small, they'd have to grow first. Did rocks even grow? He shook his head and just smiled at her. "Is every cub around here like you?" he asked her.
"I mean, I've ran into a ton of cubs with your color." He said to explain himself. There must have been a huge family somewhere, or he was just lucky enough to run into the similar colored creatures of the land. Or, he was just the odd ball. Him and his family.

Zana laughed as she tossed her head, "Well I am pleased to meet you Pembe. I am Zana. As for being like me, I have no idea. I do have some siblings and cousin around here I think."
She cocked her head to the side studying him. He was rather silly but he seemed sweet. She followed his example and kicked the rocks away before sitting down again.
"What about your family? Do you have a big family? Is it nice?"

He shook his head "I have a mother, a brother, and two sisters." he told her. One sister was way older then him and his other siblings, but he didn't think he needed to mention that. He smiled at her with a nod. "We all look the same I think, I'm not really sure." He told the other. He knew nothing about a father or what it was. Apart from what one cub had told him before.
"Not big at all" He told her with a nod. Well, at least not big from his point of view. For all he knew he could have a whole never family with half brothers and sisters and perhaps even cousins he'd never know. It didn't bother him at that either.

She giggled again as she batted around a small stone. "My family is kinda big, but I spend the most time with my daddy. He looks kinda like me only..bigger ya know? "
She smiled thinking about her daddy, " He has the most beautiful voice and he said one day I would too. Do you like to sing?" She tilted her head studying him with curiosity. She LOVED to sing!!
"No one else in our family sings, which made daddy sad till he found out -I- liked to sing, now we sing together!"

He shook his head. He didn't sing, at least not in front of anyone. "That's a girl thing" He told her with a nod. "My sister sings a lot" Though he wasn't really sure if she did, he just heard her once or twice. That seemed a lot to him. He made sure no one was around before he sang. "I don't know my daddy..." To be honest.... He didn't even know what a daddy was. He knew what a mommy and mother were. It was probably best not to ask. Last time he asked something like that, another cub looked at him like he was crazy.

She giggles at him "Daddy isn't a girl and he sings." When he said he didn't know his daddy, her ears lowered as she looked down feeling bad. Here she was going on and on about her daddy and this poor little cub didn't have a daddy. Looking up at him she smiled gently, "I will share my daddy with you if you want. He is the best daddy in the world!"

"Nah, it's ok. I got my mom.... And my older sister." He said with a smile. "They are all I need." Though he wasn't sure why.. Maybe one day he'd understand what a father truly was, but for the moment it wasn't very important. He flung his tail around wildly as if it had it's own personality. "So! What do you want to do, this family talk is boring!" he spoke finally. He didn't want to talk about his family, he wanted to play.

Zana tilted her head as she pondered. What could they do now? Many thing flew through her mind, but she wasn't sure her idea of fun and his idea of fun would be the same when it came to her. Her ears suddenly perked as she giggled, "Are you hungry?"
Now Zana was a horrible hunter, for such a creature of grace and music, when it came to hunting the poor dear had four left feet. Fishing however was another matter. Zana could swim with the best of them, another thing that set her apart from her siblings.

Pembe thought about that question for a minute or two. He wasn't deadly hungry, but he could use a bite or two. Maybe a drink too. He nodded with a smile. "Alittle." He sucked at hunting as well, but maybe she was better? Or two would make it even better then hunting by ones self. He heard his mother talk about prides and how they would hunt. He wanted to be in one. To help hunt, or do something useful.

Zana's smile was bright and infectious as she padded towards the waterfront. "I am horrible on land, but I can catch you a fish." She purred happily as the water lapped around her front paws, her ears perking.
Fishing was surprisingly easily to the bumbling cub, swimming out till the water lapped over her back, her lavender eyes locked onto a shiny fish the swam around her paws. "You do like fish right? It's really yummy. I eat it whenever I can!"
