Why is hard for you? Is it because people are mocking you, or because you just don't have that much interest?

...Just curious.

(Welcome though! You're in the right place to find others with an interest in Steampunk. sweatdrop )

As far as I can determine, Victorian Steampunk is more about Victorian elements, while anachronism is something like a Victorian era ray gun (a item never found in Victorian times made to be Victorian). I think most interpret Anachronism to more fanciful than just Victorian recreation but it's not as genre specific as Clockpunk or Apocalyptic steampunk (though no category is completely exclusive naturally).

It's not so much a matter of "difference" as it is a matter of "hierarchy." Victorian Steampunk is more like a subcategory of Anachronism. Thus, Victorian Steampunk IS Anachronism, but Anachronism isn't always Victorian Steampunk.

Anachronism is actually a very, very general term for anything that is out of place in a timeline. Any work of fiction -- or possibly even a mistake in a non-fiction work -- could mention something anachronistically. For example, if a novel were set in the USA in 1882, and a character sees a Model-T Ford, that would be anachronism simply because the Model T wasn't introduced (in reality) until 1908.

In terms of the guild, though, Anachronism is "where" we are. And that's really up to the Captain's interpretations, there. xp

a⋅nach⋅ro⋅nism  /əˈnækrəˌnɪzəm/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [uh-nak-ruh-niz-uhm]
–noun 1. something or someone that is not in its correct historical or chronological time, esp. a thing or person that belongs to an earlier time: The sword is an anachronism in modern warfare.
2. an error in chronology in which a person, object, event, etc., is assigned a date or period other than the correct one: To assign Michelangelo to the 14th century is an anachronism.

So... With that in mind, isn't anything recreating the past in our present time an 'anachronism' ? I wouldn't say that it is a set anything at all, but merely an idea of recreating the past.
