Luna had just finished getting some paperwork from the D-Corp receptionist again. man as mariel kept growing she seemed to have to keep coming back to this place, it creeped her out. Everything was always so sterile and all the employees were so.......well cold was prabably the best word she could think of. No one ever seemed to be having a good day. Well no that wasnt entirely true, once in a while they would run into other D-Corp kids and they always seemed to be having fun. Thank heavens for the happiness of children. Luna smiled and looked down at her own little beauty. mariel was walking beside her staring at everything as if it would vanish in an instant. She was wearing a white spagetti strap top and some jean shorts and she looked a little uncomfortable. Lunas smile widened. mariel did not like clothing, and she suspected it was because she was covered in fur. But while mariel was a child Luna would make sure she wore at least a semblance of clothing, maybe when she got older Luna would care less, but for now Mariel was her doll to dress as she wished.
Luna led mariel to the sidewalk before the parking lot and took mariels face in her hands. "Ok Boquis Ima gonna get el carro, quedate aqui. Ok Dont go anywhere."
Mariel nodded to her mother and made sure to give her best smile. "No voy a ir mama." mariel assured her. mariel was proud that she was now able to talk to her mom more in spanish since she had come in knowing only english. She watched her mother walk away towards the end of the parking lot and noted the worried expression. mariel didnt understand why her mother always thought she would wander off somewhere, sure she did, and yeah so they had parked in the furthest space possible....and she was supposed to stand right where she was and- mariel suddenly lost her train of thought as she spotted a grass hopper to her left. She looked at the distance carefully and decided that the grasshopper wasnt too far off from where she was so she began to walk towards it cautiously trying to study it as best she could. This could be fun!

Why, why, why was it summer? Arjuna hated it, and resisted all attempts to get him to go out and enjoy the sunshine. In fact, he'd resisted all attempts to get him out of his room for months. His resistance didn't achieve much, but it made him feel better.
So what caused him to not only leave his room, not only leave the building, but to run into the blistering heat without so much as shoes?
Anoki tore out of the building a few seconds later in mad pursuit. He was less worried about Arjuna, who he'd learned could generally take care of himself (or get someone else to do it for him), and more terrified at what Raven would do to him if he'd lost the younger boy.
When Arjuna turned his head, he noticed that he was being followed and growled in frustration. He dropped to all fours and darted around a minivan, intending to make a series of abrupt turns. Perhaps too abrupt for someone who wasn't looking where they were going.
"Ooof!"

Mariel was taken by complete surprise when a white thing came out of no where and attacked her. ATTACKED HER!! She squeaked as it knocked her over and tried to regain composure as soon as possible. She managed to get on all fours and scoot towards the nearest car. Her tail flicked anxiously behind her as she looked around frantically for the white thing. It wasnt long before she foung it. It was almost right in front of her! mariel was not a very social person and so when she realised that not only was the white thing not a thing, but another CHILD she became a little more distressed instead of relaxed. She had no idea what to do? Why had she been attacked?! She cowered on the floor a few feet away from the other white child hoping that it wouldnt see her. Her tail curled over her legs and she took hold of her hair which was in one long braid, she had begun to develop the nervous habit of toying with her hair and that was exactly what she was doing. So many thoughts were running through her head, she should say hi, she should demand an apology, if she just stayed still no one would see her, but what if it ws an attack! it wasnt an attack, just an accident, but how could she be sure. GAH So many conflicting thoughts! So mariel just sat there paralyzed by indesision her normal curiosity completely onthe back burner in the face of this new stranger.

Arjuna didn't mean to bowl over the other kid, but that didn't mean he was apologizing for it. He disliked apologies already, since they were all he ever got out of Anoki. But moreover, if the other kid wasn't saying anything, he didn't really know what to say either. His interactions with people aside from his family had been few.
The diversion had worked, though. With both Arjuna and Mariel being quiet, Anoki couldn't find anyone. "J-juna! Come out, pl-please!" he called, though his voice was restrained. Even in a big open space, he was worried about disturbing other people.
It was still loud enough for Arjuna to hear easily, and he stiffened up. There was nowhere for him to run, not yet. Desperate, he shot the other kid a look that plainly begged her not to give him away.

Mariel Stiffened up as Arjuna had when she heard the disembodied voice calling for the white kid. She was still a bit nervous but seeing the other kid...a boy it looked like also afraid of the voice made her calm down a little. Her over active imagination began to put together the pieces, maybe this kid was being chased by some other scary thing, so then he hadnt meant to run into her. That was a load off of her shoulders, well at least he wasnt here to eat her. She caught his gaze and nodded, assuring him that she wouldnt give him away. But she was intensly curious to find out what was stalking him. From the sound of its voice it wasnt to evil...but then again on tv all the really bad things always sounded nice to start with.
mariel shifted her position on the ground so she could scoot over to the boy with as little noise as possible. She was about to ask him what was chasing him but suddenly had a better idea. Maybe she could help him get away from his would be attacker. She leaned over to his ear and whispered. "If I send him away will you stay?" She had net a few kids besides herself but so far none had been this interesting. I mean come on its not every day you meet someone being chased by a monster, and her curiosity was enough to give her a little bit of bravado, her mind was always as sharp as obsidian, and she knew exactly how to get rid of prying adults like this monster sounded like it was. But she wanted to make sure he would stay and answer her questions, she was curious and would do all kinds of things to get answers to her questions. Plus she had practice dodging Luna so this should be about the same....right?

Arjuna hesitated, then nodded. He didn't especially want to stay out in the hot sun- that was putting it mildly, really- but it was still better than being dragged back inside to that.
"Juna! Please c-come back!" Now Anoki was starting to panic. What was he supposed to do if he couldn't find him? Worse, what would Raven do to him?

Mariel nodded and looked under the car they were hiding behind untill she saw the shadow of whatever was chasing the boy. He was starting to come around the side of their car mariel made her way quietly to the other side of the car and then to the carnext to the one where the white boy was hiding. She managed to get on the other side of the....um...horned thinger chasing, or rather looking franticaly for the white boy. mariel was a little dissapointed at how easy it was to get on the other side of him because he was so focused on finding the other boy. She began to run making as much noise as possible, she was running towards the back of the parking lot where Luna would be by now and she stopped just where the horned thing would be able to easily see her. She looked into the empty space beyond and frowned as she pretended to catch her breath. "Wait...WAIT!" She called to the back of the parking lot "Whats your name?" She yelled then made a dissapointed sound and made as if to chase the invisible child headed towards the back of the parking lot.

So desperate was Anoki that he latched onto the slightest lead. As soon as he heard Mariel, he raced towards her. "Did a b-boy go th-that way?" Without even waiting for an answer, he continued running. "Please w-wait, Juna!"
He really fell for it? Arjuna was briefly surprised, but then had to put his hands over his mouth to keep from laughing. He had to hand it to the other kid, that was perfect! Still, he didn't want to expose himself, so he waited for her to come back, looking for some shade in the meantime.

Mariel ran a few steps but let the horned thing get ahead of her easily and once it was ahead she slowed and eventually began to walk back to where the white kid was. Once there Mariel looked at the cars and decided that the car with the boy had more shade. The sun was high and there really was no shade anywhere, why did she have to be covered in fur. She plopped down next to the other boy and looked at him up and down.
"your lucky your white, brown doesnt do well in the sun." mariel sighed as if to prove her point then decided that conversation was rude unless he knew her name. "I'm mariel by the way, whats your name, and why was that thing with the horns chasing you?" She wondered what this boy would sound like, or if he would even talk. He didnt seem to really like the sun either, but mariel couldnt really tell since she had just met him. Oh how she wished she could be at home in her pool right now, it would be perfect because she knew the water would be cool and wet. She smiled lazily just thinking about it. But her mind brought her back to more pressing issues, the boy being chased by the horned thing. It wasnt every day this happened and she was keen to know why, too curious to be fully timid at the moment she just waited patiently for an answer.

When he was sure that Anoki was gone, Arjuna relaxed against ground. This was a mistake. The pavement was hot on his feet, but worse on his bottom, and he leaped back up almost immediately.
"Not as betterr as you think," he grumbled, running his hands along his fur tiredly. He was really starting to get too hot, and longed to retreat inside where there was air conditioning. But he'd promised, and now he had to stay.
Shifting grumpily, he nodded. "Mariel? Arrjuna." He growled over his rs, rolling them, but otherwise his voice was clear. "Will stay, but... come inside?" he pleaded. He couldn't take the heat for much longer, and explaining about Anoki would take a while.

Mariel smiled and nodded "I'll go inside" mariel was secretly happy that he had suggested inside she had been in the building before and they had blessed air conditioning. Any cool place would be better than this hot parking lot. Mariel giggled when the boy spoke, he seemed to roll his r's like luna did when she spoke spanish. mariel made a mental note to ask him if he spoke spanish, maybe all spanish speakers rolled their r's...no wait that couldnt be she didnt roll her r's. She thought about his name and said it under her breath "Arrjuna" she rolled the r in her mind and giggled, it was a funny name to say and definately not something she had ever heard before. She waited for Arjuna to lead the way to the building, he was definately an interesting new subject of study. And she was secretly glad that he was also covered in fur, she had never met anyone with fur like her before, they all had skin or scales.

Mariel could not have made Arjuna happier if she tried. Without waiting for a further response, he hurried back towards the apartment complex. The door was automated, and he dashed through the gap, letting the cold air blow out as he rolled around on the floor in the lobby. After feeling the heat, he appreciated the coolness even more.
After a few moments of that, it occurred to him that he should really check on Mariel, to make sure she followed him inside. He did owe her, he supposed.

Mariel giggled as she watched the young boy practically sprint towards the indoors, she too was eager to get into the cool but he was just funny. She got there just as he was getting up from his roll and mariel was now sure that she had made the right desision. It was so cool and comfortable in the lobby! The air conditioning blasting made her forget the heat outside and just be happy that she was now inside. She found a nice empty stretch of tile and sat down, enjoying how the cool tile felt on her legs and bum before motioning that he should sit down too. Afterall she had some questions for him.
"Wha was that thing chasin you?" She asked, it was definately the question of the day, she had never seen anything with horns before, and as much as her mind wanted to tell her that it was a D-Corp kid like her the imagination made it so much more interesting. Afterall it had been chasing the boy, what if it were a kidnapper or an alien! Her eyes sparkled with curiosity as she waited for an answer.

Satisfied that she was inside where it was nice and cold, Arjuna didn't bother getting up, but continued to lay on his back on the cool floor, tilting his head so he could look at her. After a moment of thought, he shut his eyes. "Thanks," he growled softly.
The thing chasing him? He grinned. "Just 'Noki. 's not bad us'ally, just..." Arjuna shuddered. It was not something he cared to discuss, really, so he tried to change the subject. "Why you waiting out therre?"

Mariel listened to the boy intently, so then the horned thing was a 'noki hmn that was interesting she would be sure to remember that incase she ever met another one. She half waited for Arjuna to continue what he was saying about this 'Noki thing but he suddenly stopped and asked a question. Mariel almost complained because by the way his voice changed it sounded like he was going to say something interesting but she stopped ehrself. Afterall he had answered her question so it was only fair that she would have to answer his as well.
"Me and moma finished gettin stuff, we was goin home." Mariel answered and turned to look out past the glass doors, sure enough there was no jeep and no momma looking for her, she half sighed and turned back "moma gets lost easy" she half explained to Arjuna. It was True, they had parked far enough away that Luna was wandering aimlessly searching for the white jeep that she owned and wished was alot more visible. Mariel put both hands on the tile and looked up at the celing. "Thats why I gotsta explore more, so I can tell momma dire-.....di-.....so I can tell her where to go." Mariel smiled, it was currently her goal to see the whole world and of course the adventure of it was her main drive but of course if she knew where everything was she assumed she would be more helpfull in helping Luna get lost less. She turned to the fuzzy boy with a sudden question "Do you like exploring?"
