He watched the Goddess standing there, oddly tranquil and calm. It unnerved him. Ever since he had known the Goddess she had been a bumbling idiot, endlessly arguing with herself and with him - though half the time she didn't seem to realise she was picking up his thoughts, too.
He wondered whether it was because of their argument only an hour or two before. He remembered his words with painful clarity and shut his eyes in an attempt to forget.
--
"You've done what!?" His voice was angry, full of burning hatred. He flexed his claws into the dirt to keep from lashing out her throat.
"W-w-we, we, we've gone the w-w-wrong way." Her bi-coloured eyes had flooded with tears and she had wept - half with regret and half with fear. She knew his thoughts, knew that she was dangerously on the edge of having him fight her. And she didn't want to fight. Not him. Because if she did, she might end up killing him and that would be bad. Very bad. Mother might come and hurt her. Illena would be sad. Very sad.
"We've not just 'gone the wrong way', you stupid creature. We've walked in one big circle! We're back where we started!!" He advanced, growling, snarling, purposely throwing out strong, angry thoughts and taking strange pleasure in her flinching at them. "This God of Healing doesn't exist, does he? Nothing is going to fix what you've done!!"
---
He had sprang at her and she had used her powers on him. It was like hitting a brick wall and then being flung through the air. Then the ground had hit him and he had lain quite still, waiting for the seething anger to subside. But it hadn't subsided, not until he had sat up and seen her. She didn't seem like a Goddess at all. She was small, delicate looking and childlike in her thinking. And then he realised what Koya had spoken of. Rokopelli never meant to harm anyone. She truly didn't.
And yet...he struggled to grasp the concept, it confused him and made him angry and he knew he was confused because of her. He felt himself warm with rage again and forced himself to look away.
What was he going to do?
After a long moment, Cassian stood and moved towards where Rokopelli stood. Closer, he could see that she still wept, her eyes cast out across the sea. What was she looking at? He squinted, but with his eyes as poor as they were, could not hope to spot anything at such a distance.
Clearing his throat, he took another step closer. "Rokopelli." His voice was hoarse but controlled. "I...I came to apologise."
She turned to look at him, her face wet with tears and shook her head. What did that mean? Did that mean she had forgiven him? "I overreacted."
She blinked to clear her vision and gave him a sad smile, one that held little emotion. She would have hid what she was thinking, except he knew, because he knew her thoughts, just as she knew his.
It surprised her to hear that he was genuinely sorry.
"The sea is sad."
And that was all she said. She turned her head away from him and threw her sight back out across the waves. Somehow they seemed to have lost something since she had left them on her quest to find a God of Healing.
A god that might not even exist...
The place seemed empty, void of something and she knew what it was. Where were her friends? Perhaps it was a silly notion to think that Juuku and Pele might always be here by the sea. They had wings and they could fly, but it seemed that every time she was here she met one, or both of them. Perhaps they had gone on a journey of their own? Perhaps it would be a long time before she saw them again?
Her heart ached for a friendly face and she wondered whether she should have stayed with Koya. The kindly female loved her and she loved Koya. Koya understood things. Koya knew how to make things better. Rokopelli didn't, and alone like this, with responsibility, she wasn't quite sure what to do. Even Silos wasn't around and he was normally close by. Perhaps he had found new friends, too.
She sighed, deeply and without warning, spread her wings and glided away from the cliff side, from Cassian, from Illena. From responsibility. The male lion's cry of surprise went ignored. He had no reason to fear because she was returning and she had thought it and he knew her thoughts. She was caught in the rough ocean wind and carried out across the waves, following them back to the beach where she had first met her blue-pelted friend.

How long had it been since her mate was stripped from her paws, taken by the surf itself as his time had simply expired? The Goddess's brows knitted as her orbs of purest ocher stared out towards the subdued sea, longing to see when the waves again would thunder across its solemn surface and its all too familiar roar would solace- breaking the silence that lingered as if proclaiming the true power and greatness of the waves themselves. A heavy heart still encompassed her chest, pained with loss, although slowly she was coming to terms with the knowledge that one day he would return to her- her beloved mate would return. Not only that but Juuku himself had promised and it was that Pele held dearly to the agreement they had woven that sunset. As her head rested upon her forepaws and body curled slightly upon the smooth pahoehoe rocks Volcanoes stretched her wings outward while her tail flicked behind her in a contemplative manner, its small wings fluttering as she sighed.
It seemed strangely quiet now- Ezriel was off and about in a new found attempt to redeem himself with the Past, quite literally as strange as it was, Athrun was traversing somewhere and she could only assume that perhaps they would cross paths again when the time was right. Where was Taalis, Muku- where were the familiar faces she knew? The Goddess bit her bottom lip. Had they forgotten about her since her mate's death or perhaps- perhaps they truly didn't know? Jet, black ears fell against her skull as her frame seemed to curl a bit more tightly.
Pele wasn't one to be so open with others or even express herself to most but as she remained lying there in a forlorn state it was hard to keep the tears from streaming down her face. She choked slightly but shook her head, jowls gritting together as she refused to continue. The walls she had all but dismantled were slowly building themselves up again, that fortress that sought to vigilantly push other away was once again erecting its dominance in keeping others out and away from her. Stubborn and hard headed, it seemed almost tragic and a sickening realization that the Goddess was attempting to let herself slip into someone who was hard hearted.
What would Juuku think of her? He would surly be upset and disapointed, she reasoned quietly, glancing back out towards the subtle waves. As hot, salty tears seemed to well up in her eyes and refrain from falling, Pele slowly rose up to her paws as she sat upon her haunches and curled her wings around her- barring the world from seeing her and from the aching pains from plaguing her any longer.
As she was slowly making sense, even peace with the fact of her mates death, Pele closed her eyes. One day the sun would come out and one day the waves would crash and seize the shoreline again with it's bubbling foam and pulling tide.
She only wished that today would be the day.

She was becoming better at flying, she realised. Usually the wind tended to guide her and she had no strength to overpower it. Was she growing stronger or was it just that the wind was no so brash this day? She was unsure, but nevertheless, proud when she tipped a wing and directed herself on a correct course along the coastline. What she sought for, she wasn't quite sure. She knew Juuku wasn't there. She knew it in her heart, in her head, too, for she could not feel his mind close by.
Even still, she was sure something was out there.
So dark and vibrant was Pele's pelt that Roko could not have missed her, even at great speed. Her lofty flight was halted at the sight of the female, sitting up, wings furled. An odd sight, indeed. She reminded Rokopelli briefly of the bats she had teased during her time in the jungle with Nyoka.
Why do you hang upside downses?
However, though her wings were around her, she certainly was not upside down. Rokopelli remembered feeling sad and scared, remembered trying to huddle beneath Mummy Koya's wings. Maybe this Goddess, Pele, was feeling sad too? Maybe she needed a wing to huddle under? Well Rokopelli had two fine wings and she was quite comfortable with lending them out when necessary. Besides, Pele was a friend and a friend of Juuku's, which made the fact that Juuku wasn't here even more odd.
She altered her wings and descended, landing awkwardly on the sand and ending up pitching forwards on her snout. Her wings, ruffled, came to fold against her sides as she found her paws and after a moment of dazed confusion, she stepped forwards.
"Pele! Pele, can you hear us from behind your wingses?"
