The World of Gaia: Twisted Fates

For the 1,500 years that History has been recorded, Gaia has never been in such a time of precarious peace for so long. Wars, genocide and other atrocities occurred so frequently over the past 500 years that every single Gaian has felt some sort of loss that the overall emotion of sadness is normal.

But now, for the past 5 years all of Gaia has prospered in this interlude of peace. The two Gaian Super Powers, Hyphos and Higashi rest like sleeping Giants and in their slumber Astraena, Hyouto and the [Isle of Flame] have begun to make their marks into the History books.

The tentative Truce between Hyphos and Higashi hangs in the balance and Gaians of all races and backgrounds are seeking to influence the fate of the world for their own purposes.

For Peace
For Greed
For Love
For Anger

What will you fight for? Who will you fight with? Where will your fate lead you?

Emblazon your history into the World‘s Twisted Fate.

Enter this world: The World of Gaia

.: WoG Bio Requirements :.

Bios are what is required to start playing with a character, and they are what need to be maintained to keep playing with a character.

While this is not a requirement (yet), the WoG GMs humbly ask that if something major happens to your character, you edit the bio appropriately so that we don't have you on file as a knight, despite the fact that after your friend was killed you swore to lay down the sword and never touch a weapon again. The little things. wink

You must submit ALL Bios (1st, 2nd & 3rd characters) to Sey for approval. PLEASE, PLEASE LABEL THE PM "WoG Character Bio: [insert character name]. The RP sample's rule still applies on all bios.

TW: Please note that WoG employs a [3] character limit per player. The administration would appreciate it if players actually adhere to this limit (rather than creating a mule and tricking us). Thank you.

.:World of Gaia 2.0: Telvah's Tears:.

Okay, so it's been a long time for us all. Issues came up, and rather than being fun, the roleplay turned into a chore. The goals of WoG 2.0 are to streamline and simplify the system so that everyone is on the same page, as well as to recruit "new blood", so to speak, roleplayers we've never encountered before.

I would ask everyone to try to use the rules that we have (rules will filter through the moderators, Seyumi, and myself) rather than creating new ones. Of particular note here is the area of classes. Yes, custom classes can be fun, but often the emphasis when we allow class creation falls on "OOH, I just got a new ability!" rather than on interaction between characters. Thus, I would like for people to try to adhere to the classes provided. You are all great RPers, and I'm certain that you will be able to put your own spins on the classes. That said, if we in the future decide that the classes I have put together from the remnants of WoG 1.0 are insufficient, then we may add new classes, but I strongly suggest that the concentration be on interaction, rather than just novelty.

But enough of my proselytizing. I am now opening this thread for suggestions about what to do with the WoG.

Why "Telvah's Tears"?

Since the Elemental Spirits fell into slumber, evil has begun to fester in the hearts of men. Now, the Elementals awaken, one by one, in the bodies of humans, but some of these vessels are flawed beyond repair. This was the case of Fiondra Cantiele, the conniving, deceptive descendant of the ancient water bloodline. When Telvah awoke, it was inside the ravaged and hateful body of Cantiele, and the resulting shock splintered the goddess' soul into [twelve] pieces, each with its own sliver of her power. The whereabouts of both the newly awakened goddess and her "tears" (as they have come to be called) are unknown, though rumours abound.

GM Note: the Tears have special abilities that will only be revealed when a PC acquires one. Each shard has a different power, and grows in potency when brought into proximity with one of its fellows.

Classes?

In the interest of providing a baseline for the beginnings of the roleplay, I have divided WoG classes into two groups: physical and magical, then subdivided each of them into a group of six (the names of Eastern classes are in parentheses, if different from those of the West) each with five named levels:

Physical: Knight (Lord), Archer, Ranger (Ninja), Mercenary, Thief, Fighter.

Magical: Light Mage, Dark Mage, Fire Mage, Earth Mage, Wind Mage, Water Mage.

The interpretation of these classes will be, for the most part, up to those who play them, though a list of abilities for each class will be provided.

What if I want to be a [ ]?

The classes are not meant to constrain. Thus, if you find yourself wanting to play a Samurai, or a Bard, simply mold your character within the guidelines of the classes. A Samurai, for instance, could be a Lord, or a Mercenary if he/she is not affiliated with a noble house. If a Bard has magical abilities, filter them through one of the elements, such as Air, and create an Air Mage that uses his/her magic through song.

Can I be the High Priest/Avatar (fifth level) of [ ] element?

The answer is probably going to be no, for the time being. This is simply because the amount of power these individuals is so vast and all-encompassing. Part of what makes a roleplay like WoG entertaining is the progression through the classes, through the inheritance of new abilities and through ways of using the old ones. I myself want to start at the lowest level with Truewind, since I enjoy this aspect so much. There is some room for negotiation in this, but ultimately, the promotion of people beyond Adept level will be up to the GMs (Sey and Truewind). Applicants to the roleplay may ask for any of the first three levels of magic classes (Apprentice/Initiate, Journeyman/Acolyte, and Master/Monk).

Can I be an Adept-level (fifth level) physical class?

My answer is the same as for the magical classes: not right now. The ability system of WoG is rich with potential, and that includes the lower level classes. As such, applicants may ask for any of the first three levels of a class, though they may not mix classes (You cannot, for instance, be both a Thief and a Ninja).

Who are the GMs/moderators of WoG 2.0?

For now, the Game Masters are: Sey and Truewind.

Moderators are: none as yet. If you were a moderator for WoG 1.0, please send me a message saying that you would like to be one for WoG 2.0. If you are interested, then I will add you to this list. If you are not one of these people (and you know who you are), please do not PM me or Sey asking to be a moderator.

Can I be a half-vampire-werewolf-angel-faerie-marshmallow?

All World of Gaia characters are human originally. If you wish to roleplay how your character becomes a lycanthrope victim, by all means, go ahead. But for the most part, our system is complicated enough without adding in issues of race.

Magic?

Magic in WoG works through the blessings the six elemental spirits of Light, Darkness, Air, Earth, Fire, and Water. They have various names in various places, and are accompanied by myriad minor spirits and deities. Elementals in the World of Gaia are more than just inert sources of magic, though, and they often intervene in the affairs of humans.
