Everything around here was just so green... and brown. There was certainly a lot of brown too. The green stuff didn't taste half bad either. It felt as if there was something lacking though, as if there were some other food out there that she should be eating but wasn't.
The small filly had been wandering around on her own through the forest since she hatched from her egg. It had taken her a small while to figure out how to move about on her feet, but after she had there was no stopping her. The only time that she paused in her aimless wander and exploring for more than a few minutes at a time was when it got really dark out and it was hard to see. Then her eyes would get droopy and the next thing she new it was light again! More adventure!
While the filly had been having quite a bit of fun exploring this new world, she was more than a bit disappointed not to have come across any creatures like herself yet. There were plenty of small furry things that ran across the ground and feathered things that flew through the air, but what was she? Why was she different from these? Perhaps in time she would find out.
At the moment the little green filly was "stalking" a beetle that was crawling across a log. So enraptured was she by the shiny little creature that she was hardly even paying attention to her surroundings at the moment. Not a wise move for a lone foal, but she had no one to teach her any better and had thus far been fortunate enough not to come across any large predators.

Zareth had just finished taking his first bath of the day. Shaking himself dry he decided to go for a nice little walk. One that avoided dirt, dust and all the things that could get his clean coat dirty. Head tilting to the sky the male had an odd smile to his face. What a beautiful day, and hopefully he could have some luck finding some interesting males to gape over.
During his walk he spotted a small foal with many different shades of green upon it. Curiously he tilted his head wondering why the foal was all alone in the forest. Where were its parents? With in a few moments Zareth had trotted up to the foal. "Hello little one," He stated in a cheerful voice.

The filly jumped nearly a foot in the air at the sudden voice behind her. Beetle completely forgotten, she spun around to find that she was face to face with a very big creature. A big creature that, she was rather amazed to find, was the closest looking to herself that she had ever seen! Also the sounds it had uttered were somewhat understandable to her ears. "Y-you..." she said experimentally. "You... like me?" The filly was slightly confused by how both wrong and right the words felt on her tongue at the same time.

"Yes I'm like you." he replied softly and kindly. His 'motherly' instinct kicking in. "Where are your parents little one?" he questioned, a bit worried that she was out here all alone as well as for her safety. Yet he was one to talk, he hated fights and couldn't protect himself let along a small kirin. Even so he didn't let that fact faze him at the moment.

The filly tilted her head thoughtfully at this question. Parents... is that what she had been missing when she hatched? "Don't know. Just me." Why was she alone anyway? The thought had never really occurred to her in that way before. Shouldn't these "parent" things have been there when she left her egg? Something told her "yes," but that just left her even more confused than before. "Parents... leave me?" Her brows furrowed in mild frustration as she tried to grasp a hold of this concept.

"Hmm..I See, would you like to travel with me little one. Maybe we can find your parents. That and its safer traveling with a group then by yourself." He replied lowering his head to her

"Travel?" she questioned, tilting her head again thoughtfully. That meant more adventure, right? With a smile the filly gave a fervent nod. "Kay~!" Pausing briefly, she decided to ask the question that had been on her mind a lot lately. "What am I?"

The filly simply beamed up at her, ecstatic to finally know what she was and to be with one of her own kind. "Where go?" she asked curiously, her tail flicking happily back and forth behind her. With the large one here to guide her, she would probably be able to find even more cool things than before.

"Where ever the wind and land takes us," Zareth replied, "Just as long as we stay close to a river or lake." After all he did need his two baths a day to keep clean.

Kireina pranced around happily at this news. Now that she had a traveling companion she could ask all sorts of questions that she hadn't previously know the answer to. "Why up blue? Where bugs from? How feather things go in air? Why green taste good?" the filly could probably go on endlessly if her companion didn't stop her soon.

"The sky is blue because it wants to be," Zareth replied at the mention of bugs a shudder went down his spine. After that he answered her questions in the order they were asked. He didn't mind the questions, she was just new to this world it seemed and should have many questions about everything. "From the ground, they fly with thier wings. The green stuff is food so its suppose to taste yummy."

"Oh... okay!" the filly replied cheerily, satisfied with the answers that Zareth provided. Practically prancing in place, she said, "We explore, yes?" Kireina wasn't yet used to staying in one place for very long.

"Yes we can explore but we must stick to the river. Its easier not to get lost that way," that and the fact that he wouldn't miss one of his bath's a day even if his life depended on it

~*~Time Elapses~*~ "Zareth, your coat is fine, honestly," the young mare said with a roll of her eyes. While staying clean was important, she sometimes wondered if her traveling companion carried it just a bit far. "Your hair is going to start falling out if you stay in there any longer," Kireina teased, trying to give the other 'female' motive to finish up 'her' bath.
