She chased after the bird, flying in circles around the sky. The thing was smart, swerving into and around the trees and low hanging branches. She nearly ran into a tree more than once. Soon Ash gave up and landed near a creek. Her wings ached from the hour long flight, but she had to keep her skills up. Other lioness' were far bigger and stronger than her. Ash wouldn't let herself be driven out of another territory by force. Next time she'd be ready.

Lapping at the water, Ash felt a chill in the air. She had to be near the moutains, it was usually cooler and snow covered the ground where the forest ended and the mountains began. Her curiousity caught her. She'd never seen the snow, nor had she ever been in it.

(( Sorry, I got majorly distracted. >w<; I also need to ask for his cert... His and Altair's. ._. ))

A fair distance away, past the snow line, a lone figure padded around in the white powder. His blue pelt was dusted with white, forcing onto him an even more wintery appearance. This was one of few places where Tlatim dared to wander without Trahern, or another member of his family. He found that he had a natural affinity for cold weather, and this area also pleased his need for solitude. Few creatures of the island seemed to enjoy the chilly mountain climate.

A calm grin played across his snout, his eyes straying upwards towards the clouds. It would be quite a while yet before he would return home, he decided. This day, among most others he could remember, was turning out to be one of the most peaceful. Of course, he didn't need to ruin this quiet by rejointing Kane and Tatania... At least, not yet. Contentedly, the dragon stretched, with his forepaws outstretched and his rump in the air. He let loose a yawn, which came out louder than he realized.

((It's okay, I get distracted too xD I had to reply to 3 other rps, lol))

Ash padded into the soft snow. She hated the water, but that was because it made her fur fluff up so much, she looked like a big ball of fluffy fire. Some would say it was cute, but she didn't enjoy it much. She closed her eyes and awed at the softness of the white powder under her paws. It felt cool, crisp and refreshing. Now this was a form of water she could get used to, she thought with a small smile. Ash sniffed at the ground, it even smelled different than water and didn't make her want to jump back and go the other way.

Quickly, she glanced around and made sure no one was near, then dove and rolled around in the snow. Ash giggled lightly, and rolled onto her back. It felt good and cool against her fur. The firey glow that surrounded her, shone so bright it almost hurt her eyes. Shaking her head to get rid of the spots in her vision, she heard the unmistakeable yawn of someone near. Really she doubted it would be another lion, but there was always a chance. Ash had heard that dragons lived around her mostly, and hoped she'd get to see one.

Her curiousity grew stronger, as she got up and padded past a few bushes here and there. Before she knew it, she was a couple of miles beyond the snow line and found the white powder just about everywhere, but there was a light blue outline in the snow. She sat quietly, and watched curiously with her head tilted to one side. Ash noticed the figure was a dragon and marveled at his wintery coat.

Perhaps luckily for Ash, Tlatim took no notice to the orange blotch that sat just a short distance away. His introversion never would've allowed him to stay after such a surprise; he would've taken off running. Instead of taking a mad dash, though, the blissfully ignorant dragon rolled onto his back in the snow, creating quite a dent to lay in. It didn't seem so deep when he was standing in it, but Tlatim's chest barely stood out of the snow. All that presented itself to Ash now was his chest, rising up and down with each steamy, visible breath; and his frosted tail, which was whipping about without a care in the world.

'This is so nice,' Tlatim thought to himself silently. The chill felt good throughout his body. And, what was this? He could feel a chuckle rising up his throat. It came as softly as the snowflakes were falling, but it was definitely there. For the first time in his recent memory, the icy blue dragon was actually laughing instead of cowering, whimpering, or whining. This was definitely the life...

Before she knew what she was doing, Ash took a couple of steps closer then stopped a few feet short of Tlatim. She was surprised when he rolled into the snow and just about disappeared. Pure shock took place in her eyes and the small gape of her mouth. The only indication that the dragon was there, was the opaque, white wispy breath which she noticed first. Ash squinted her golden eyes, trying to see better. There was a tail swishing about, and the rise and fall of his chest.

Sighing in relief, she decided to lay down and closed her eyes. This place was serene and relaxing. Beautiful too, she thought smiling. It hadn't occured to her that Tlatim didn't see her there. Ash merely thought he wanted to be left alone, and that was understandable. Moving her ears slightly, she caught the sound of a chuckle. It could barely be heard, but it was there all right. Ash had to laugh a little and rolled onto her back. As the snowflakes gently floated to the snow covered ground, she giggled as one or two fell onto her head and ears. Her paws batted at a few, as she watched the beautiful sight, and her tail swished back and forth in play. One snowflake landed on her nose. Scrunching up her face she tried not to give in, but she had to. Ash sneezed with a squeak.

As if the cold had suddenly gotten to him, Tlatim froze, his legs and tail sticking straight up and stiff out of the snowline. His ears twitched... Perhaps that chuckle had been an echo, or a figment of his imagination? But then, a completely different sound rang out; Ash's sneeze. Knowing for certain that it wasn't an echo now, Tlatim's heart began to race. He had expected to be alone out here, but obviously, this was not to happen this day.

For such a large dragon, he let out a rather pathetic whine. It sounded a bit like an injured dog, or perhaps a large machine coming to a halt. In any case, the noise accompanied his rolling onto his stomach and putting his paws against the frozen ground. He laid as flatly as he could while still being prepared to bolt... The white ruff along his back protruded, but he could hope that the person out there -whatever they were- would fail to notice.

"Please don't see me, please don't see me," he muttered, jaw clattering in fear.

Ash rolled over onto her stomach and sneezed again . . . and again. She hated it when she couldn't stop and continued to give squeaky sneezes. Sucking in a breath of air, she held in another sneeze. Her cheeks puffed up, as she forced the sneeze away. Once Ash was sure she was done, she yawned for no reason at all, but to pop her ears. They felt like they had air bubbles stuck in them.

Ash shook her head and twicthed her ears, feeling a 'pop' inside them. When she looked back at the dragon, she noticed there was nothing. But he can't have run off so soon, he was just there, she thought looking closer. She could just barely make out an outline of his white ruff. Maybe he got stuck in there? she thought again. Trotting over, Ash looked down into the hole with a friendly smile. "Hi there, I'm Ash."

"Ahaaaa," Tlatim whimpered, covering his horned head with his front paws. He was shaking like a leaf, and it wasn't from the chilly weather. "P-p-please don't hurt me," he strugled to say, his sharp draconic teeth chattering loudly. With his eyes closed as tight as they were, he couldn't see that Ash was a somewhat small, and smiling lioness. In fact in his head, he pictured Tatania towering over him, ready to whap him across the head... But wait. Tatania's name certainly wasn't Ash...

Removing one of his paws, the powder blue dragon peeked up at the lioness, finding her not at all terrifying. However, his shyness knew no ends. While no longer terrified, he could not shake his flustered, embarrassed feelings. "Um, h-hi. Tlatim," he stuttered, "is my name..."

"Hurt you? Why would I do a thing like that?" Ash shook her head and took a couple of steps back. She could see he was shaking like a leaf and wondered if he was either freezing or just scared. If he was frightened of her, she had no idea what she'd done to scare him. Ash thought back to a few moments ago and couldn't think of a thing. Maybe it was her weird sounding sneezes? That'd freak her out if she didn't know who or what was having a squeaky fit. Turning her attention back to Taltim, she peered down at him in the hole.

"Do you need help out of there Tlatim?" Ash asked kindly, and offered a paw. He at least stopped shaking for the moment, but he seemed shy. "It sure is white out here. It's beautiful though," she tried small talk, but made sure it wouldn't frighten him away.

"Um, sure. Thank you." Tlatim took her paw, but mostly climbed out of his hole by his own power. He let it go, deciding to adress her initial question. How exactly would he put this? She didn't know Tatania, or her harsh ways. In fact, he realized quickly, she had only met him. It was rare, if not unheard of, for any outsider to his tiny 'pack' to meet him alone. This was the first time it had happened at all, if his memory served.

"I thought you were someone else," he explained, voice still a bit hushed, not at all bold. The quiet of the snowy landscape allowed for this, however, without any of his words falling silent to Ash's ears. "Someone who's not very nice... And yes, it's v-very nice out here. I love this place." Tlatim gave an honest smile as he looked around at the snow. If the surroundings or company had been any less comfortable, he probably would've fled a moment ago.

Ash didn't have to help much, but she didn't say a word. Her tail swished back and forth in the snow disturbing the cold, frozen water and sticking to the ends of her fur. It chilled her for a moment, but subsided as she listened to him.

"I'm sorry, I wouldn't let anyone like that get to you. If they ever came this way, well you're in good paws with me," Ash gave a comforting smile and made sure that what she had said, he was able to hear the truth behind it. "Have you ever sled down any of the hills here? Or skated on any of the frozen lakes? I've heard so much about the snow here, and how wonderful it can be." She was sure excited about exploring and discovering what lay here in this part of the Isle. And who better to ask than Tlatim. He looked like he'd been here for a while and knew his way around the mountain.

Tlatim took a deep breath and looked to Ash. Unlike himself, she stuck out like a sore thumb here. He was beginning to wonder how she had gotten so close to him without his noticing, but it didn't matter, really. For now, he was busy grinning at her; something he had never done with a stranger before in his life.

"Skating is very fun," he said, his claws flexing as if they longed to scrape atop the frozen waters at that moment. "It's always so cold further north that you don't have to worry about falling through. You can just glide on top without worrying about anything." He let out a dreamy sigh, deciding right there that he would like to skate very soon. "Sledding is great, too, if you know how to control yourself and avoid the trees." The blue dragon took a bit of a pause, mulling over her caring words before... She had offered him the kindness of protection, and so offering to show her the wonders of the snow was the least he could do. "Well, uh, would you like to try anything? I know some very fun spots around here that no one else uses."

She shivered with both curiousity and excitement. He was the first dragon she'd seen in her life, and was beginning to see the stories that she'd heard before about them, were false. He wasn't scary and mean, nor was he nasty. Tlatim was the opposite. Ash knew there were dragons out there that fit the mean type she grew up to believe in, but from where she was standing, all she could see was a kind one.

Ash smiled and nodded. "I'd love to see the land! Maybe we could go skating too, I'd love to try it!" She jumped up a few feet in the air, no longer able to control her excitement. "I wouldn't mind going over towrad the colder areas either. The glow that surrounds my body keeps me warmer than normal lions, so it won't bother me," her smile grew wider. "So where to first?"
PostPosted: Tue Aug 18, 2009 5:37 pm

Tlatim's sky blue eyes widened as he watched Ash jump high into the air. He was slightly tickled, and tempted to laugh again, but he shook his tail back and forth instead. For a few moments, he had actually forgotten that she was a lion... That meant that she could fly. 'How strange,' he thought, imagining her soaring through the snowy sky with that glow trailing behind her. It must've been quite the sight.

Directing his attention back to the conversation, he looked around. Really, there were so many places that he could show her, since he knew this area so well. He gave it a moment of thought, and then nodded his head. "Okay. Well, you might have to watch your step. The snow makes it hard to see if there are potholes, or burrows, or anything that might make you trip. So, uh, yeah..." Tlatim raised a paw up to his chin, and then pointed one of his long, white claws to his left. "There's a great pond over this way, and there's a good view of a valley later on. And past that, there's a bunch of caves... We can go that way if you want... It does get very cold as you go that way, but it won't bother you. That glow of yours sounds useful. I've never seen anything like that before." He eyed her curiously for a moment, before remembering that staring like that was rude. Shaking his horned head, he quickly whispered an almost unintelligable apology before turning to the left, his cheeks and ears burning.

Ash padded closer to him to gaze in the directions he pointed out. She wanted to see the land, and through Tlatim's eyes it sounded beautiful, just like he was. The glow swirled, disturbed by her thoughts. She didn't blush like a normal lion or dragon would, but she felt her supposed 'gift' gave her away sometimes. Especially when she was would rather keep her thoughts quiet.

"Uh um," she cleared her throat trying to get rid of the lump that had formed. "I'm sure I'll be fine with you around," Ash smiled and fluttered her wings, "You can catch me if I fall," it sounded like more than what she had meant. Again the firey glow swirled, but calmed down quicker than before. "Ohh, it all sounds so exciting. Hmm, maybe we could get to all of them before evening," her smile grew wider and her eyes had a gleam to them. "So off to the pond first! Lead the way," Ash caught his gaze and her glow nearly went wild. It danced and swirled around her, "It can be useful at times. Though I think it can be a pain too." Her tail swished back and forth, as she told herself to calm down. By this time she wished she could blush.
