::Story of Our Lives::

The story is centered around a wealthy duke's son. Eduard, the duke's son, is very used to living the carefree life that he has always had. He never had to work for anything and everything that he ever wanted came directly to him with a shake of the hand or a shift in position.
He lives by himself in a grand mansion in the middle of London and is quite the bachelor. He looks incredibly handsome and most women are always after him.
He lives the life of an untamed bachelor, drinking a lot, spending money here and there on whims, and never really settling down to anything. He, of course, had little flings with women here and there, but nothing serious ever came out of it.
He hates to be pulled down to anything permanent and had always managed to avoid most things... until Eduard's father wanted him to get married, just for political purposes.
In a haste to get away from the arranged marriage that he knew was bound to happen, Eduard told the family that he was already engaged to a wealthy woman of high status and that they were planning for a wedding soon.
Delighted, the family left him alone to plan the wedding. But he had no one that he loved, and he really didn't want to settle down. That's when Eduard bumped into Peter, a very poor student trying to survive in London, studying acting. He's a really good actor, and that's the only thing that's really keeping him in school.

: razz resent Time::

The streets of London, right outside of Peter's school. This is when Peter and the duke's son first bump into each other.

: razz redicting the Future... Though Maybe Not Accurately::

Peter was in possession of a ring that Eduard had lost a long time ago, at least he had given it away a long time ago. It was the family ring that was passed down through the family, used for proposal purposes. Eduard had given it away because he had no use for it, at least, he didn't want a use for it.
And when Peter came to Eduard's house for some reason or other (maybe to return the ring or something), Eduard happened upon a perfect idea. Peter needed money for school, and Eduard needed a person to act out his fiance... ♥
You all know where this is going xD

::The Boring (But Important) Stuff::

1. Please don't post until I have given your profile a look-over and have replied stating that you're good to go.
2. Take liberties with this RP and go where you want it to. Joint effort!
3. No cybering, please!
4. Please be as literate as possible, at least five sentences a post though I prefer more.
5. Try to use correct grammar and spelling. I'm a grammar Nazi, but I won't go after your case for it... Well, as long as it's not too bad...
6. Even though I offer such a strict story line in "Predicting the Future... Though Maybe Not Accurately," that's only a guideline. We can completely veer off it if you want and turn this RP upside down! Well, not that far, but not everything I said above needs to be the truth! So don't be afraid to go against the aforementioned words.
7. PM me your profile please! You can apply for either part, and then I'll just RP the other character. (Subject: SemexUke)

Peter is somewhat a shy person. Well, he doesn't mesh well with most people. He can hold his own in a conversation, but he probably wouldn't like to be in the conversation in the first place. He rarely finds conversations to be interesting.
He is humble and somewhat easily flustered. He cares a lot for the well being of others and puts the people he knows and respects over himself. Even in the most desperate of times, he still will think of the other person first.
Peter is not a talkative person, but if you really get to know him, he is an enjoyable person to be with. He is quite polite for a person of his low status, though sometimes he can lose track of himself as he gets caught up in the moment.
Peter has never been in love, for he's usually too busy dealing with school, sending money to his family, and finding some way to pay his tuition. He doesn't particularly want love either, and isn't out looking for it. He doesn't expect it to come either.
He has his fair share of pride and has clear thoughts of what is right and wrong. Even though sometimes he needs money, he will never do illegal things to get it. He has moderate morals and such.
And lastly, he is the type of person who is up for anything, really, though he usually finds excuses to do them. Deep down, he just needs some relief from his stressful life and welcomes every chance. He's a hard worker, and sometimes, he doesn't really know when to stop himself. There are times when he goes too far and ends up hurting himself.
He's the type of person that has few, but very good friends. He doesn't open his full self up to most people, and since he's a good actor, most people don't really know that.
He can be quite stubborn when he wants to be, and will stand up for what he believes to be right in any situation. He can be patient when it comes to some things, but generally, he doesn't have a world of patience...
Oh, and at the beginning of the story, he doesn't know that he's gay yet.

He isn't really that tall, standing at a height of around 5'4" or so. He has dark brown hair that is most always messy and covers his ears. He has gentle green eyes and more of a feminine structure when it comes to his face.
He isn't sporty, and he doesn't have roles in acting that require much physical work, so he isn't muscular, though he does try to keep himself in shape. He's thin and he has pale and soft skin. He likes to dress in black, since it can be interchanged for anything formal or informal. Most of his wardrobe can be interchanged and they still match quite well.

::History::
Peter was born and raised in France, though he doesn't speak French whatsoever. His family doesn't have much money, and both his parents are hard workers. He is the third of four children, so he's free to do what he wants. He isn't in line to inherit the family business or anything.
He loved acting ever since he was a child, but found that his school didn't teach any of the arts well. He applied to a performing arts school in London on his own and was surprised that he had gotten accepted. But now he knew that it would be a struggle to pay his tuition every year, even though he did receive a little financial aid. His parents got together what they could and he reluctantly accepted it.
Once he arrived in London and got settled, living in a small apartment, he immediately started on his job. He was a bartender and a decent bar. It paid him relatively well, and he could use the money to pay back his parents slowly and pay for his tuition, though it was still a scrape.
The owner of the bar, a German woman, had taken a liking to Peter. Upon her death, she gave Peter her most prized possession, which was her ring. It also happened to be the duke's son's family ring. She had told him the story about how a kind and handsome gentleman had given it to her one day as he was passing her on the street. The owner wanted Peter to return it, but he had no clue who the man was that was the rightful owner. Still, he kept it with him at all times, hoping to find the owner one day. He got into a habit of playing with it when he was thinking, or bored.

Eduard Michaels

::Name Pronunciation::
Eduard (sounds like the Spanish name Eduardo, just without the O)
Mi (like Me) Cha (like Kell) Els (like L's, L plural)

::Age::
24

: razz ersonality::
Bright and upbeat in public, Eduard is quite the charmer and a bit of a poet. However, his taste for the night life usually leaves him with a social circle that rarely sees him during the day, if at all. When angered however, Eduard is certainly a man you wouldn't want to be in the path of. Always gentlemanly, Eduard's only flaw is that he's incredibly vain. When alone however, when not in the public's eye, Eduard is quiet and reserved, almost shy. It certainly is obvious that the man is a Gemini (he was born in June).

::Likes::
The better question would be, 'What doesn't Eduard like?" He's quite fond of roses, poetry and the theatre, having a cup of hot exotic tea, and enjoys various physical activities such as swimming, fencing, and horseback riding. He's best at home on lazy summer days, and enjoys cards and wine during his nighttime escapades. Eduard is also a music lover, and even plays the piano, violin, and flute. What seems to be his greatest love however... is extraordinarily beautiful people.

: biggrin islikes::
Eduard dislikes few things in his life, but perhaps the worst is for someone to call him Edward. He also has a strong distaste for his father the Duke. He's allergic to cats, hates rainy days and the bad memories they bring, and refuses to eat beef.

::Appearance::
Eduard is tall but rather thin, though somehow seems to be muscular in all the right places. He usually has a rather bored expression on his face, unless trying to entertain those around him. Eduard's hair is incredibly long, sometimes tied to one shoulder with a white ribbon, and a deep almost purple shade of black. He has somewhat squinted eyes, but they are an intense purple/grey stare. Incredibly fair of skin, Eduard likes to dress in dark colors, especially since he is commonly seen at night and not during the day.

::History::
Eduard wasn't a very happy child, needless to say. His mother died in a carriage accident when he was only five. They had been on their way to their winter estate, when a terrible thunderstorm muddied the roads and caused the carriage to veer from the path and over the side of a cliff. Somehow, Eduard had lived... but his mother had died with him in her arms. She had been his shield. After her death, Eduard's father, Duke Michaels, spent less and less time at home and Eduard relied upon the servants of the house for companionship. As he grew older, Eduard excelled at school and won himself many friends... however, most were simply friends for the sake of befriending one of his title, and there were hardly a handful of true friends that he could count on. After school, Eduard began quite the social career, and spent most of his nights at parties and the theatre. In fact, Eduard patrons a theatre in London, and uses much of his own personal finances for the production of plays that interest him. His love life was full of one night stands and the occasional woman on his arm for more than a week. As he grew older, his father became more and more insistent on Eduard getting married and settling down. It was high time an heir was produced, according to Duke Michaels. Eduard however, didn't like the idea. He enjoyed his superficial existence... and didn't want to change. On the eve of his twenty-fourth birthday however, Duke Michaels declared that Eduard needed to find a suitable partner before the end of the year... or else the Duke was going to arrange for a marriage himself.

::Other::
Eduard can be a bit vain in truth. He enjoys mirrors, but is incredibly superstitious. In private, he tends to be more reserved and quiet, almost shy, than he is when in the public eye. Eduard's personality change tends to anger many people, and thus Eduard doesn't react well to strangers outside of a public setting.

P e t e r - W i n t e r s

Peter sighed. The day wasn't going as well as it could. He glanced up at the sky and spotted the dreary gray clouds once again in the distance. He had to walk to work today, for he had lent a friend his bike, and it was going to rain. How nice. At least it's not raining yet.

As if right on cue, he felt a small drop on it head. He held out his hand, but didn't feel much. These were the few stray drops at the beginning of every storm. He knew that time was running out for him to get to work. Yet, he still had quite a ways to walk.

Doing his usual thing, he pulled out the simple sapphire ring that the owner had given him and started fidgeting with it absentmindedly. He didn't even notice that he had taken it out of his pocket. The weight of the ring felt so comforting in his hand. It also added a certain warmth to the day that he would have missed otherwise.

He found himself staring at the ring as he played with it, for he had finally noticed that it was there. His thoughts meandered towards the ring and its origin. The owner of his bar hadn't told him anything about it, except that a very handsome, dark-haired man had given it to her some years ago. That wasn't very helpful. Though there were more people with light colored or brown hair in London than dark, so at least that narrowed it down some. Still, there were at least a couple hundred to sort through. And for all he knew, it could have been some passing traveler, in which case, he would be royally screwed.

Since his attention was on the ring, he didn't realize that a figure was walking towards him, and in not realizing, he failed to step aside as a noble walked towards him. That was the common courtesy for people of their differentiated statuses. But since he was deep in thought, he crashed into the man anyways, falling backwards, though still keeping a tight hold of the ring clenched in his fist.

God, how he hated rain.
Dark eyes glanced skyward, taking in the brewing storm clouds and the ominous soft rumbling of thunder in the distance.
It had looked like it would rain, and so Eduard Michaels had forgone the idea of using a carriage to get across town and back to the manor.
Carriages and rain never mixed.
Not only that, but the combination tended to cause Eduard to black out after a panic attack... on more than one occasion.
Having grown weary of doctors and physicians seeing him all the time, the son of Duke Michaels just decided that his nightly escapades didn't actually require him to ride a carriage all the time.
Though, it did make it obvious that he always needed an umbrella...
So, as the first drops of rain began to fall, Eduard brought his umbrella up and opened it quickly.
Those small drops began to increase, more and more cascading down to wet the cobblestones, Eduard's mind began to wander.
In truth, he was tired.
The young man had spent the night playing cards with a few high brow nobles, and had entertained a few of them with stories of some of his more known escapades.
No however, Eduard was rather exhausted and wanted nothing more than to finally get back to his manor and get some sleep.
'First, a cup of rosehip tea though, I think...' the young man thought to himself, smiling slightly.
Tea always seemed to distract him.
Obviously it distracted him enough to completely miss the young man who barreled into him only a few seconds later.
Eduard barely kept his feet, the umbrella slipping from his grasp to clatter onto the now rain-soaked street. Wiping dark rain soaked hair from his eyes, Eduard's gaze landed on the man who had been knocked down.
"Are you alright?" he asked, offering the lad a hand up.

P e t e r - W i n t e r s

Peter had been careless when he fell, loosening his grasp on the ring when he had caught himself on his back and arms. There was a very swift internal struggle as to whether or not he should put priority on the man he had just bumped into, or the ring that he could very well have just lost.

Of course, politeness always won in Peter's mind and he looked up, expecting to find an angry expression that Londoners usually held when interrupted. Instead, he met with a genuinely concerned and altogether handsome face. He then saw the hand extended to him and took it out of mere courtesy.

Not really leaning on the man's hand, he stood up. He was quite surprised at how smooth the man's hand was. It was almost as if he had never done any hard labor in his whole life. Getting a chance to finally observe the stranger's dress, Peter realized that he had, indeed, bumped into a noble. This was probably the worst thing that could happen, next to a member of the royal family himself. For all Peter knew, this man in front of him could have also fulfilled the last criteria.

Immediately aware that this situation could go quite bad, or get worse than it already was, Peter bowed respectfully and stuttered his profound apology. Keeping his head down, he used it as an opportunity to search for the ring that was somewhere between, or possibly within the jumble of puddles that were quickly forming.

((It's all color coordinated now!))

The look of sudden terror that crossed the other man's face nearly made Eduard burst into laughter. As it was, he somehow managed to contain his amusement at the man's rather clumsy attempt at some form of common courtesy.
"If I may suggest," Eduard spoke, his voice silky smooth.
Dark eyes were looking over the man's form and one eyebrow arched in confusion as he tried to put a name to the man's face.
But no name came.
"If I may suggest, I own an establishment not too far from here. It might be the best place to wait out this bothersome storm. If you would join me, Mister..."
Eduard was waiting for the man's name while, at the same time, gathering up his tumbled umbrella.
As he raised it over their heads, a soft clink caught the noble's ears and he looked down between his booted feet.
There... was a small and yet unmistakeably familiar ring.
Lightning reflexes won out as Eduard snatched up the ring before the other man. He held it in his open palm for a long moment, studying the intricate curves on the gold.
"May I ask where you received this?" but then he shook his head, "No matter. I'm sure you can tell me all about it once we get out of this infernal rain."
Strangely enough, Eduard raised his umbrella so that it would actually protect the both of them from the torrential downpour.

P e t e r - W i n t e r s

Peter's first thought was that he had been wrong in thinking that this was a noble. But as his eyes went over the style of dress again, he was bent on the matter. The manner of speech also was that of an aristocrat. But then why was this noble of London so unlike the rest that he had heard of? Albeit, he had never actually met a noble, but stories about them circulate through the working class all the time.

"If I may suggest, I own an establishment not too far from here. It might be the best place to wait out this bothersome storm. If you would join me, Mister..."

"Ah! P-peter! Peter Winters!" Peter's face reddened a little, having said that a little louder than necessary. Having a little moment of silence, he decided to apologize. "I-I'm sor—"

All of his thoughts stopped when he saw the man snatch up something from the ground. It had to be the ring. Seeing it for himself as the aristocrat spoke his question, Peter couldn't help but think that he probably had gotten himself into some deeper trouble than he had ever intended.

Seeing that this man had an interest in the ring and probably wasn't going to give it up easily, Peter had no choice but to go with him to his home. At least aristocrats had some appreciation for fine jewelry, rather than the beggars commonly found on the streets of London. That was all Peter could really be thankful for at the moment.

They walked for a few blocks, the rain not letting up in the slightest. Eventually, they arrived at a rather large building. A doorman stood at the front entrance, and the arrival of the two, especially of Eduard Michaels himself, snapped the man into action.
"Good Morning, Sir." the man spoke, bowing low as he opened the door.
Once out of the rain, it was clear to see that the place was an expensive and well built theatre.
Eduard shook out his umbrella, careful not to get any drops on himself or, oddly enough on his companion. "Now then," he spoke softly, looking to the man quizzically, "Peter Winters, is it? Forgive me for not giving my name. I am..."
But before he could even begin to introduce himself, a man in relatively good dress approached them hurriedly.
"Marquess Michaels!" the well dressed man spoke quickly, placing himself between Peter and the young noble.
Oddly enough, the man threw a quick angry glance at Peters. A glance that spoke volumes and said, pretty much; 'Why did you use the front entrance, you twit!'.
Needless to say, it was the very theatre which Peters was employed at.
Eduard smiled pleasantly, "Things running smoothly, Mister Bradley?" he asked, taking a look around the entrance hall.
"Of course, Sir. Of course. So sorry for you to have gotten mixed up with his lot, Sir. I..."
But Eduard held up a hand. "It's quite alright, Bradley. In fact, I brought him with me. Seems Mister Winters was stuck in the rain, same as I. I thought it best to find somewhere dry while the storm plays itself out."
Bradley gave another angry glance at Peter, but he just smiled to the Marquess. "Of course, Sir. Of course. Young Peter works here after all... about time for him to have arrived. He might've been late if not for your aid, Sir."
One thin eyebrow arched, "Quite... Bradley, do you not have things to attend to? Surely my theatre can not run itself, can it?"
"Of course not, Sir. If I could do anything, just ask, Marquess Michaels." the theatre manager spoke, bowing again before making himself scarce.
Eduard sighed and turned his attention back to Peter. "Well, Mister Winters... seems that our meeting was far from coincidence, was it not?" he smiled slightly, obviously not mad with the young man in the slightest. "I am Eduard Michaels... as you have obviously gathered from that exchange. Tell me... What were you doing with that ring?"
As he spoke, Eduard lead Peter through the theatre entrance hall and off to a side waiting room.
It would be a place where they could talk without Bradley trying to hover around the conversation, though there was no doubt that the theatre manager would probably interrogate Peter after the meeting was over.
Once inside the furnished room, a room that had a nice warm fire burning in the fireplace, Eduard waited for Peter's explination about the ring.
The warmth of the room would help dry their wet clothes at least.

(((OOC: Basically, from what I looked up, a Marquis is spelled as Marquess in England. It's the station below a Duke so it's safe to assume ( I hope) that Marquess would be Eduard's formal title. Though, there is some speculation on my part if he would be "Marquess Michaels" or "The Marquess of Michaels"... but the former is easier to remember, hehe.)))

P e t e r - W i n t e r s

Peter was quite surprised to find that they were entering his workplace when he finally looked up. But they were going through the front door. He was never supposed to go through the front door. Mister Bradley would get very angry at him if he ever did so. And yet, he went through with this stranger of an aristocrat anyways.

The moment Peter's eyes caught that of Mister Bradley, he went pale, or at least, paler than he already was. Mister Bradley would sure have many high words with him that night, and for the next couple nights for that matter. But what scared him more was that not only had he carelessly bumped into a noble, it was a Marquess! That made him pale even more, if that was even possible.

Avoiding Mister Bradley's last angry glance, he let himself be led to the side waiting room, which he had never been in before. Void of all complexion, he sat looked down at the ground in silence, not wanting to take a seat before Eduard did.

Upon hearing about the ring yet again, Peter couldn't help but look up, though his eyes still held great fear for the berating that he knew was to come after he stepped out of this room. He didn't really want to think about it, and so he forced himself to think about the ring instead. But first, there were a couple of things to address...

"I-I'm terribly sorry, M-Marquess Michaels, for the m-many events that has o-occurred so f-far this even-n-ning pertaining to m-me..." He was partly stammering from the chill he had gained from being completely soaked, but more so the fear of both Mister Bradley's and Marquess Michaels's wrath. Feeling that he was too young to die, Peter figured that the best way to repent for having bumped into a duke's son was to tell him what he wanted to hear.

With that in mind, he applied himself to the story of his previous line of work at a bar, at which a German lady was his employer. Taking careful steps to make sure that every detail was laid out for the Marquess, from his previous employer's name (Gisela Hans), to her living situation when she died. After telling Eduard about the mission he was sent to do by Gisela on her deathbed, Peter ended his story. The rest was as it is now.

Still pale, he awaited for a reaction out of Marquess Michaels. The fear was evident in his eyes that there would be some terrible punishment coming from Eduard now that all the information was out of Peter. The aristocrats that he had heard of had always been vain and uncaring for those that weren't beneficial to their own lives or provided them any more power. He was afraid that Eduard would be the same as the rest.

Eduard listened patiently to Peter's story, having bid the young man to sit down least he fall.
It was an interesting story, but one that the Marquess was rather familiar with.
Once he was finished, Eduard walked around the sofa which Peter was sitting on. He carefully picked up a carafe and pour himself and the young man each a small glass of brandy.
Eduard seated himself in a chair opposite the small sofa, handing Peter a glass. He sipped his own, thinking for a long moment after the story's end.
"I am sorry to hear that Gisela has passed away." the Marquess spoke softly, his voice carrying an obvious tone of sadness to it. "She was the first, well the only lady really, who ever came close to understanding me." downing the rest of the brandy, Eduard smiled slightly at Peter. "That ring belonged to me, you see. I gave it to her... a parting gift really. It obviously would have been quite the scandal if a Marquess had been caught in the company of a tavern maid."
In other words, Eduard had loved her, but society... particularly the Duke himself, had frowned upon that love.
"What was it she wanted you to do with the ring, Mister Winters, if I may so bold to ask?" he crossed one leg over the other, seeming to relax quite a bit in Peter's company.
His voice had changed from the commanding tone that was used with Mister Bradley, to a soft timbre that was gentle and kind... and in no way fake or deceptive.
In Eduard's mind, Peter was a commoner, yes... but they had both known the same spectacular woman.
That gave Peter a bit more clout than most, in Eduard's book.
